Health update
Posted 6 years agoAs of current I've gotten over a virus and most of my voice is restored since straining it and being sick. Occasionally I will cough while speaking, but it's not as bad as after Anthrocon. Sleep is back to normal as well.
I am working on finding another foot doctor and plan to see someone in the fall. After my last visit I am no longer going to be using my present doctor's office after multiple a rude encounters.
The downtown from being sick and also helping take care of my partner has delayed a number of projects. I've been playing catch up and will be jumping back into owed work as of this weekend. Thank you all for understanding about the delay.

New bandana prints coming soon; looking for models
Posted 6 years agoAs the next few weeks roll through I'll be finishing art, publication work, and soon more bandanas! I just picked up the back fabric.
I am looking for fursuit models between Rock Hill, SC and Concord, NC. Raleigh may be possible, but I am not very familiar with good shooting locations. I'm open to suggestions. Partial suits are fine as long as your arms are covered (hoodies, kigurumis, and shirts are fine).
Water can be provided and I'm happy to take portraits as a thank you. Shooting takes about 15-25 minutes for light testing and promo photos. Weather and temperatures will be considered as most shoots are outdoors.
If you are interested please send an email to jasperbluecanary [at] gmail [dot] com.

I'm so proud of Yoogi!
Posted 6 years agoThis is the fursuiter I helped with a body suit emergency Saturday of Anthrocon. Her zipper broke and we both worked on adding snaps. Her body suit held together during Floor Wars and The Fursuit Dance Comp. Her moves are great too!

Dealing at Anthrocon was great and my hotel stay
Posted 6 years agoFor those of you who said hi, stopped by, and/or utilized the repair station, thank you! It was wonderful seeing so many folks. I'm going to break down my experience and then a blurb about my experience at the Courtyard.
DEALER CHECK IN:
It was awesome and a pleasure to see friends again. I brought some gifts for Chef Mongoose and Witchie since they're both TMBG fans. Dave got situated as well and we strolled into the room. I said hi to a bunch of the Dorsai I've known over the years.
DEALER SET UP:
I found my space and no problems. Anthrocon had no say in the DLCC refusing the turn on the air conditioning. Fursuit outside during the convention. That's sort of what it felt like, minus the humidity. Instead of taking 2-3 hours to set up I spent 7 because I didn't want to overheat. Dave, my boyfriend and weekend table assistant was a saint and got me cold water and a matcha frap from Starbucks. I love him a lot.
A dealer commented it seemed to take me a while to set up. I'm very hot and tired. Next year I'll bring a box fan.
I got to meet Sarahcat and her friend (please remind me who you are if you read this), spotted a cute pin I later bought from a vender at M14 of Pikachu holding a coffee mug, and swapped cards with an embroider at E2 and Chel at B02/03 who did badge lamination, printing, and repair. In general if I could direct an attendee to someone I would, and if someone needed costume repair, a bandana, or just things in general I had they mentioned me as well. Make friends with your neighbors cause they're awesome.
My one complaint is I found the chairs provided at the table to be dangerous. I got minorly injured and unfortunately briefly yelled out in pain in front of anyone in front of or behind the table. My neighbor thought it was a loud sneeze. No, the chair tried to eat my leg. I still have a mark on my leg and had to be careful any time I moved the chair to any extent, such as standing up or to scoot it in. Maybe it was mine. I plan on bringing my own chairs in the future.
Our power was spotty, but it was resolved by Sunday.
OPEN HOURS:
It went great! I really don't have any complaints. Lots of people complimented my art, stickers and charms designs, bought and traded pins, inquired if I had or was planning on adding to the pride designs, and really loved the bandanas. One attendee bought a bandana for her friend's goldfish suit and came by to show me later. The print had a sea creature theme and was perfect. Two attendees bought my chicken print bandana and shared photos of their feathered babies. Additionally two individuals separately wanted them for their very large dogs (ione is a Newfoundland). I really want to see photos. A lot of attendees asked about custom bandanas and I'm more than happy to create them. I'm still very blown away at how well received the bandanas were.
A few folks ordered commissions that unfortunately took a bit longer than I had planned to while helping people at the pay-what-you-want self service repair station. It was mostly assisted, but some folks did read the sign and helped their selves. There were a few comments such as, "You made my convention," "You saved me!" and a lot of thank yous. Commonly used items were hot glue, safety pins, and sewing supplies. I had four people behind the table at one point helping each of them one at a time on Saturday; torn corner of a bat head, adding snaps where a zipper tore on a body suit, and someone's trench coat needed buttons.
Other repairs I assisted with included disconnected shoes inside feet, torn body suits, disconnected pieces inside fursuit heads, torn seams on fursuit heads, and minor glue repairs to heads and feet. You all kept me pretty busy.
One specific costume I helped with a repair was a young girl who had been accepted into Floor Wars and the Fursuit Dance Competition. She was attending with her mom and had managed to finish her body suit in time for the convention. Unfortunately her zipper came apart and I had brought snaps with me. We tag teamed for a bit until she was good to sew in the rest of the snaps. Her suit held up and her Mom came by to share a video from her passing Round 1 of Floor Wars. I left a note telling her I was very proud!
To avoid bothering anyone in the room who might be sleeping I worked in the lobby, hung out impromptu with Eddie Bear, Ino, Cerrros, and their friends on Friday, and then with folks in the Zoo on Saturday. My roommates ended up coming in later than me during those evenings.
Witchie and I think Chef Mongoose popped by to see how things were. All was well and I really appreciate people caring.
TEAR DOWN AND AFTERWARDS:
By Sunday I was losing my voice and exhausted. A roommate kept waking my boyfriend and I up or preventing us from falling asleep at early hours between 1:30AM and 6:30AM between Friday and Sunday mornings (later Monday as well at 5AM). I kept it together, but I was so exhausted I wanted to bawl my eyes out. I realized with the 4PM close of the room the air conditioning was going to disappear.
After two hours everything was packed and loaded. Dave and I talked to Skippy DI for a bit and I helped the charity separate bills so they could give the convention a total towards funds raised. The lady running the leather mask table helped and taught me how to fold my fitted table cloth. I need to relearn how to again.
The table space was inspected and then I turned my form in. All was well. No complaints and well organized. Good stuff.
Dave and I managed to get my supplies back to the room and flopped for a few minutes. I reached out to Temperance and the three of us met up for dinner at India Palance...which turned out to be closed...as was the second restaurant two doors down, walked in circles, and then ended up at a Mediterranean place across the street from where we originally were. It was nice to relax, hang out in air conditioning, and catch up. We visited friends later on in the evening at The Westin.
THE HOTEL:
I stayed at the Courtyard. If I could give it a hug I would. It's a great place. My only complaints are the closet is tiny and there weren't enough bell carts. Other than that it was good.
Four people stayed in my room. One was my boyfriend Dave and we drove up together. One was a local friend and one was a guy I interviewed that was recommended of a friend's friend's friend. A background check showed nothing odd, good communication, was okay with keeping the room dry, and paid on time. Nothing strange. However Dave and I were woken up in the early hours between 1:30AM and 6AM from either talking, the door slamming, or for whatever reason deciding 5AM on a Monday morning was the best time to pack. We heard every snap, rustle, and items being dropped. By some miracle we managed to get another four more hours of sleep. Dave ended up having to drive us home after I got the car from the garage.
You live and learn. I plan on only rooming with friends, family, other vendors, and staff that aren't party people in the future. No more random people from the internet.

Anthrocon prep almost done; back to commissions after
Posted 6 years agoI recently had to make an emergency trip to MD and two local art shows that were something I will be avoiding in the future caused me to have to reconfigure my schedule. To reduce stress I switched to my Anthrocon prep first.
I am hoping to wrap that up this week to go back to working on commissions. After AC I plan on using July to finish any owed work. I will have a comics project coming up, so I plan on switching between the two.
Please stop by J15 (Blue Canary Gallery) and say hi if you'll be at Anthrocon this year!

See you at Anthrocon (table J15, Blue Canary Gallery)
Posted 6 years agoHi everyone!
I'll be at Anthrocon this year. I'll be bringing some fun stuff with me including:
*Snap-and-go handmade fursuit bandanas (examples can be seen here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/BlueCanar.....on_id=24552374)
*Fursona Pins of Dodge (silver variant) and Jasper
*Shimmer heart charms (happy heart, strawberry, peach, and various furry-themed pride designs)
* UV/waterproof vinyl stickers
*Art prints, cards, original art, and UV/waterproof sticker sheets.
*ALS fundraiser stickers featuring Dogbomb (proceeds will be donated to the ALS Association of Orange County, the organization Dogbomb participated with)
*Achievement Badges badges and vinyl stickers
*Telegram-style badges and sketched portraits
Since AC offers a 8' table and I'm used to 6' layouts I am dedicating 2' to a pay-what-you-want self service fursuit repair station. Need hot glue, snaps, needle and thread, and other supplies? Stop by.
Any current owed art will be worked on prior to AC and throughout July. I recently needed to make an emergency trip out of the area to assist at a costume studio and a local event, so I lost a bit of time.

1 room spot available at my Anthrocon room @ Courtyard
Posted 6 years agoSomeone dropped from our Anthrocon room. We're looking for someone I know well to join us. Currently it's my boyfriend Dave, a local friend Lauren, and myself. It's 2 beds at the Courtyard. Dave and I are sharing a bed, and up to Lauren if she wants to share or an inflatable bed can be provided. Please send a note if you are interested.
Furry Weekend Atlanta was excellent!
Posted 6 years agoMy report is awesome staff, reg was super fast (I was in there on Thursday), saw lots of friends and made new ones, Artists Alley was well run, and the weather didn't drench
toonfx and I going to and from our hotel. Sales went well and I am floored with how much folks love the stickers and bandanas! Brian, Rose, and Snapai were awesome table buddies.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table in the Alley! I'm pondering offering sharpie commission drawings on light colored bandanas. I did one for fun of Nick and Judy for someone (she asked if I had fabric with Nick besides the Judy one, and I offered to draw them on model).
Someone accepted my straw challenge (I needed a straw) and they received a sketch of their choice (I drew a Tardis in a snow globe).
I slept 4 hours each night, except for Sunday, which was 5+. I should be back to normal by tomorrow. Lots of projects to work on that I owe, local June 1 artists market, and Anthrocon.

I get asked at least once a month about Telegram
Posted 6 years agoHi everyone. I do not use Telegram and I'm asked about this about once a week. Tryng to use Telegram became a privacy issue, for the two weeks that I tried to use it the messages covered my phone when I needed to view my GPS (I work out of state fairly often) or other important things I needed to do, and time I can not commit to keeping track of another thing on my phone and found it distracting.
Please do not be offended or push to ask why I am not on a particular chat client or app. I've been asked frequently in the last year about Discord.
For communication I have a phone, email (which archives and can allow for keyword searches, one chat client, and Twitter. I'm not impossible to reach, though I may not reply immediately.
On a happy note I do love seeing everyone's Telegram stickers and designing them.

Going to FWA and AC...who's going?

Nice seeing folks at Ichibancon!
Posted 7 years agoThis was my first year tabling at the event. It was great interacting with everyone, including a number of friends who stopped by to say hi to Dave and myself.
The table was mostly Disney-related books, toys, and art and it was very well received. I sketched Donald at one point for fun, put it out for sale, and someone brought it the following morning. I'm finding Oswald and Donald to be the most popular characters. I loved talking to attendees about projects Dave and I had worked on.
Additionally I had art prints, Dodge pins, and stickers available. About 20+ people asked about sushi stickers, so that'll be happening. I need to design some corgi ones also (I have foxes, huskies, ferrets, grumpy cat, and a number of others at the moment).
I definitely get peopled out easily. After the room closed I wanted to just decompress up in the room.

Ichibancon and projects
Posted 7 years agoHi everyone. Dave and I will be exhibiting in the Ichibancon Artists Alley and giving various panels on Friday and Saturday. Come say hi!
I am slowly getting through my MFF homework. December was me shuffling between various states and not able to get much work done for various reasons. Mostly hiding from sick people, 11 days at my costume gig where I disappear from society, and not having a good surface to draw on or limited time. I've been notifying folks as I get to their projects. If you haven't heard from me I haven't forgotten about you!
February will possibly be me going out of state to work (dates have not been finalized), comic work, and two 3D projects. I am trying to split my time between MFF homework, a few trades, and in general I don't really get days off.
Working on being at the following events:
*Motor City Fur Con (waiting to hear back about confirmation)
*Furry Weekend Atlanta (confirmed, will try to get into the Artists Alley)
*Heroes Con (Friday only)
*Anthrocon (confirmed)
*Queen City Anime Con (waiting to hear back about confirmation)
*Charlotte Pride (attending)
*Midwest Furfest (staff/will try to apply for a Artists Marketplace table)

Back to square 1 AKA still no answers
Posted 7 years agoI had my preliminary visit today with an orthopedist and I have mixed feelings.
I talked with the doctor, we got xrays made, and what was diagnosed on the MRI is wrong. I do not have plantar fasciitis. No, I have "I'm not sure what it is." There is some pain when below toes 4 and 3 along my metatarsal are squeezed and could possibly be a prolonged stress reaction and/or arthritis. The CD of my MRI was picked up from my doctor and will be reexamined.
While there I got the feeling the doctor had not interacted with transgender patients before. I didn't ask, but that's the feeling I got. The doctor mentioned about seeming puzzled as I had been referred to as female in the charts with a male name. I was asked what I was regarding being transgender. This made me a bit uncomfortable, but seeing as this is a medical professional I said, "Female to male." It should be a bit obvious when seeing and hearing me, but I guess not.
A patient with a Germanic accent was in earlier, and the doctor seemed fascinated. I guessed when the languages mentioned by the doctor (Italian, French, and German) that the patient might be Swiss. It's just a guess. I was asked, "Is Rosengarten your real name?"
...
...
... wut?
I've been asked about my first name. I can see that, but my charts, my legal state drivers license as my form ID, and the forms I filled out ALL SAY Rosengarten. Make your own conclusions, because it prompted me later to buy two bags of cookies and accidentally locked my keys in my car in front of a Walmart out of frustration Milanos "marshmellow" and some kind of soft cheesecake ones if anyone was curious.
In the meantime I am waiting to find out more of what can be done. I honestly don't want to do blood work. In general I'm pretty healthy and nothing odd is popped up in the last three years. If anyone wants a limp body on their office floor I'll do it, but I doubt it'll show much in the results other than my cholesterol levels looking good. I do take pride in that. Any foot exercises or treatments I was recommended I've tried in the past. It was suggested to do them all at once and 200mm of ibuprofen was not very much to help my foot.
I'll be waiting on hopefully not paying $50 for the topical medication if things are worked out with my insurance.
As I told someone earlier getting old sucks. I'll accept my fate if this is permanent. Hoping not. I'll post an update when one is available.
On a happy note someone in Walmart recognized me and said, "Are you the artist who paints?" That was very specific. It was an employee on break I had let purchase an item ahead of me back in November. At the time I was exhausted, but also not on the clock. It was cool getting recognized today and I got a hug and share photos of some current work.

Posted 7 years agoI got a phone call today from an orthopedist office and my appointment is on the 3rd. Let's see what my future looks like. I'm hoping it doesn't involve a cortisone injection.

MRI update
Posted 7 years agoTwo things. I missed the message via an internal messaging system from the 7th. Confirming via a call I was told I have a minor form of plantar fasciitis. It is treatable over time. I might have to wear a special brace at night. I'm in the process of getting a referral and will to see an orthopedist.
There you go. Three years of misery summed up with the MRI and saving for a year. I'll post an update after an appointment is made.

My Fursonia Pins order arrived today! That was much faster than I had anticipated. I'll be putting together packaging and will need to get some bags for them. For those I promised to do trades with I will be putting them aside for you. If all goes well I will have them available at conventions and some online as well.

Individual scamming people out of their Fursona Pins
Posted 7 years agoIn case anyone is confused Fursona Pins is awesome. Go buy their stuff. www.fursonapins.com.
There's an individual by the handle Blue Bubble Berry (twitter: @BlueBubbleBerr2) that is currently trying to scam individuals. This person tried inquiring about purchasing one of my Dodge pins when production finished. The individual after receiving a Fizz pin filed a charge back and effectively scammed Fizz.
For further info please see Fizz's post. If you receive a message from the individual about any item do not respond.

Thinking of making PCD gift boxes
Posted 7 years agoI thought of a fun idea of a collection of goodies to sell or give as gifts. I live near a number of places with chocolates and toys. Maybe include a small card as part of it and custom labels over some of the items.
Is there anything you'd like to see?

Posted 7 years agoAfter a year of saving, fundraisers, and donations I finally had my foot scanned in a MRI. It sounded like a practice session for an industrial band.
Putting aside my car's battery dying in an attempt to leave afterwards, I was given a CD of the scan to bring to my doctor's office. The office (making it there 10 minutes before closing) told me the imagining center would be reading it and sending results because they didn't have a radiologist.
I'm hoping this doesn't turn into an expensive game of Telephone. I can't call anyone until Monday.
I spent about three hours in a AAA. $137 later I was back on the road at least.
