Camping trip!
Posted 12 years agoI'm not sure if I'll be out of range for phone and only periodic pops into town for computer usage, so if you are playing any games with me there might be an interruptus.(!)
Technology update
Posted 12 years agoWow, I have advanced my technology skills immensely since the last post! I have created a FB and posted pictures from both my camera and phone, started 2 groups and posted pics there as well, after first learning how to scan photos. Even taking digital pictures is new to me. I am using my phone to text and play games and I created and follow a furry twitter account. Which I uber enjoy, though even though I think of witty sayings now and then, there's no one that would see them if they don't follow me, correct? Just putting icons in descriptions is an accomplishment for me! Thank you to all that have helped me on this journey, and even the laughter is uplifting!
Technology found me...Aaaaahhhhhhh!
Posted 12 years agoYes, I must step into this century. To help accomplish this I have acquired a Samsung Galaxylll and a FB acct. To say it was a "piece of cake" for me would be decidedly unfitting. While to most of you youngsters out there it would be seen as a simple thing, to me it is at times frustrating as to who to put where, who to friend, what do people see, and all the accompanying privacy issues. The twitter was an issue for a couple days, and now it is working fine both on the computer and is in sync with the phone. I am just learning all the features on this wonderful phone and soon hope to be able to post up-to-the minute pics and info that I could just watch from the sidelines before. I am currently also very slowly easing into the games portions, currently playing Words w/friends with a few. I also had been curious about former classmates at high school, but now that cat has been let out of the bag, also! To all that have helped me on my journey to the real world, I thank you and hope that my annoying questions will be over in the very near future! I would actually like to have a separate acct or section on FB for my furry friends only. Does anyone do this?
Camping accomplished...
Posted 12 years agoand what a beautiful week it was for it. No rain, no HOT weather, no wind, NO BUGS!!! Really truly awesome. Perfect for campfires, taking strolls, grilling, even playing board games outside! Not so great for fishing where we were, but we did try. Why is it that when you are in a boat you try to cast close to shore and when on shore you cast as far out to middle?! Hmmmm...It was just nice to spend quality time away with just husband. We reserved a spot for 2 weeks from now. Yeah!
summer fun!
Posted 12 years agoI am sooo ready to be camping, fishing, going to baseball games! Have to wait for husband to give me time frames for his availability; however, I'm thinking perhaps we can set up at campground nearby and he can go to work from there? I really love camping and outdoor stuff in May and June until it gets too hot. The exception to this is baseball, unless it's raining summer is ideal! We had a dream that we were going to try to visit all the major-league parks and a lot of the really nice mid-west minor league parks. This is my 1st year off work, so I'm itching to go! Meanwhile, our backyard is really coming into bloom and is quite peaceful and flourishing. If I can figure it out, maybe I could take pictures and upload. Enjoy the nice weather!
Who knew?
Posted 12 years agoIt's National Donut Day today!
What are people reading?
Posted 12 years agoWhether it be books, magazines, kindle, fiction, mystery, romance, bios,sci-fi...
What are you currently reading, and which authors are your favs? And no, porn and technical-mechanical journals do NOT fit the criteria!
I am enjoying the latest Dennis Lehane mystery "Live by Night", then will follow up with Michael Crichton "Micro", and just finished my first Harlan Coben mystery. I like to sometimes pick an author and read their entire repertoire before moving on. Mystery is my favorite, plus I thoroughly enjoy short stories!

Camping update!
Posted 12 years agoWow, that was a short trip! Less than 24 hrs. We pulled up to our reserved site at Coralville and were met by ranger who said we have until wed. morning to vacate because they're increasing the dam flow and our sites or road will be underwater. They offered us a couple of higher ground options we could move to at once or move the next day. We decided to stay right there for the night and figure it out on Tues. Oh, they did mention that we will get a full refund, also, for our 3 days. Today, earlier, we drove around to the suggested sites at other campgrounds, and although they ordinarily would have been just fine, the weather won the day. I think we saw glimpses of the sun maybe twice. We figured we could go home and sit indoors, and have cable to boot! We did sorta miss our doggie, too! Usually he goes with us, but we left him with the boys at home. We'll just have to do fun things at home or around town!
Camping!
Posted 12 years agoWe are going to attempt camping today thru Thursday even though rain is still forcast. We will not be in a tent, so rain will only affect our fishing and bocci ball agendas. Perhaps grilling out as well, but I have plenty of indoor foods also. I believe the rain is expected in an overnight pattern, so maybe we won't be stuck inside playing cards and board games, tho won't be first time! Either way it goes, we haven't camped for about two years and are anxious to relax by the reservoir--provided it doesn't flood us during the night!
Spring!
Posted 12 years agoNow that the weather is warming, I naturally think of plants. What fun it is to see the perennials poking through and greening, and myself remembering what they are and Oh!! So that's what is there! Then, I pause to think what worked last year, and what would be better for the spot this year. Every year I tell my husband(Jeebs) that I am cutting back and...Why, I'll just stay inside all summer...Then I go to the stores for annuals and When they're on sale I buy a few more...! Do I go a little over the top? Perhaps, but I am somewhat persuaded by Jeebs to go ahead, get that, because so we buy a few plants in the summer. The rest of the year I'm a pretty cheap date! And although some of our older neighbors think we're probably crazy and wasting good land, I know they enjoy the views. We do enjoy some vegetable gardening as well. Here's to all that enjoy nature and the everchanging beauty!
Taking a break...
Posted 12 years agoI decided to leave my place of employment where I had been for 9 11/12 years. They are having fewer people to do more and it just was getting too much for this old wolf's back. After considering possibly part-time also, I decided that we would just live on less and see how it goes. Creative dinners 101!!! Also, we could sell some things as soon as I figure out how to take pictures and upload! Health situation is still a bit wacky...headaches every day and thumping sounds by ears, but hopefully this will subside. I am looking forward to the March Madness pool again this year at former place of employment! Is there a furry fandom pool?
Back from ER-update
Posted 13 years agoSo,I am back from my 3rd visit to ER in three days. Finally with a workable diagnosis. After follow-up with primary doc on Friday, it was suggested that I should, indeed, have CT scan of head afterall. So back to ER to have that done. My husband and I were joking about why it was taking so long for the results...that they maybe couldn't find my brain, or perhaps they lost my marbles. No evidence of mini-stroke or anything, but did find infected sinuses so I was put on antibiotic. That night--thumping headache and pain behind eye. Continued into all-day Sat. About 3:00, I started feeling dizzy again. Much worse than Thursday. By 4:15 I was again throwing up and even had a little diarrhea. Room was spinning and I couldn"t focus well. 7 or so more throw-ups. I knew we had to get to ER, but I honestly didn't think I could make the ride. So I grabbed my bucket, and tried to time it between bouts. They put me on IV fluids again, drew blood, and started giving me meds. Diagnosis is Acute Vertigo, also my blood pressure was fluctuating and sugar count was still high--they called it steady. The thing that helps this type of vertigo is Valium. So I'll be a drowsy future drug addict! No, they said you would have to take it for a longer time an d more zealously! But, no work until at least Wed. Poor husband had to watch Packers-Vikings in hospital room. I can't drive so he's had to be Jeebs the chauffer-not fun. (I think I didn't spell chauffer right-it looks funny) Wow,January3rd and already probably met deductible for the year.
Back from ER
Posted 13 years agoWell, this has been a fun day! I've had a cold since Sunday, and at work Tuesday night I was blowing the nose, coughing and all the fun stuff. But I also would get dizzy quite often, especially when looking up or down, or even trying to walk straight. No way I was going to drive forklift that night. I figured to just get through the night as I was off the next day and could rest up. So Tuesday and Wednesday I kept up with the doses of cold medicine as per instructions, and slept a LOT. I was still dizzy, tho. This morning I got up at 8:30 and I was really dizzy. Actually hard to walk around. I sat at the computer for a while and had a bowl of dry cereal and a glass of milk. I took some prescription meds, and then had a cup of coffee. That was probably a mistake as was probably the meds. By 11:30, I was nauseated and throwing up. Could not keep water down. Threw up five more times and in the meanwhile called Ask A Nurse, who told me to call my regular clinic for advice. Oh, I forgot to mention a couple bouts of diarrhea today also. So, I was already assuming I was dehydrated, but I was only 3 months ago diagnosed with a mild diabetes-meaning the count was just over 100. And I was taking a med for it, however, I neglected to take any of my meds this past week until today. So, I was curious if blood sugar had an effect on the dizziness. The clinic told me to go to ER. Was there 3 hours. Even threw up going there. They did blood work, gave me IV fluids, anti-nausea meds, cleaned out ears because that could be a cause of dizziness, even suggested a ct scan of head. Which I wasn't keen on. I was ravenously thirsty, didn't get ice chips for about 90 min. My blood sugar was 190! OMG! So now to follow up with the reg clinic tomorrow and remember to take meds as directed! When I left there I was starting to feel some hunger, so I had chicken noodle soup and crackers. Now as I type this, I am thirsty, so thats probably good? Anyway, I just haveto take better care.
12-12-12!!!
Posted 13 years agoSo, yeah! It's my birthday!
