Spring is in the air (Finally!)

It's been pretty crazy here at the workshop. Last year was our first year in business and it felt like for most of it we were fighting for survival. We were under so much intense pressure to improve what we were doing while also working on costumes and commissions at an almost frenzied pace. Now that we are a bit better known, the challenge of securing commissions has lightened, but what hasn't changed is our dedication to be constantly improving ourselves.
We have some larger than life fursuits on the horizon. These suits will be implementing new construction methods, integrated lighting and animatronics. We have actually dabbled quite a lot in robotics. It's our goal to be able to seamlessly integrate them into our costumes so that your character reacts to what you are doing and automatically animates parts of itself to complement your performance. It's our goal to make all of these systems easy to use: we don't want our commissioners to need engineering degrees to make it work.
As of writing this, we have one more commission slot open for Summer, and then we move to Fall where we will be filling out slots for September and October. If you have a character dear to you that you want brought to life, be sure to use our quote button at the top of the page. We would love the opportunity to help you!

Hello 2018!

We made it to 2018! Our first full year of business is behind us, and wow, was it busy! We made sixteen full costumes during the year and worked on some smaller side projects as well.
Thank you to everyone supporting us – whether it’s a commissioner, a detailed critique, or a friendly comment letting us know you enjoy our work. Thank you!
The new year is going to bring us lots of exciting opportunities. We have some very cool costumes in the works, and lots of commissioners who we are eager to work with to bring their characters to life.

We just got back from Midwest Furfest!
Posted 8 years agoWe just got back from the convention and wow, what an amazing time. We premiered two new suits, Midnight the Cat and Robbie the Hyena. We also got to meet up with one or two other members of our furry family as well!
We can't begin to describe how amazing it was and how proud we are of our kids. We're in December now, and it's amazing how much our family has grown! We've been really fortunate to have the some amazing fursuiters running around in our suits. You guys keep us inspired and keep us going. We can't wait to see how much larger we can grow in 2018! ^_^

It’s really scary being a first year business. We have been trying our best to make things work. We are in the black, but money is tight and we could really use some help from our community to solidify our dream and take it to the next level. Plus we have a really nifty idea!
This company is founded on our dream – to help others get a fursuit so they can live their dream! Nothing makes us happier than seeing our creations making a difference in this world. Back from Anthrocon and back to work!

We just returned from Pittsburgh and we spotted our angel dragon, Hibiscus, in the parade! It was really amazing getting to see him bounce around. His new owner is very happy with him. It was so inspirational getting to see all the lovely costumes and talk to people about our passion. Plus, Pittsburgh is a beautiful city, with a rich history and some absolutely amazing restaurants. Shoutout to Ten Penny across from the convention center – it was the best food we have ever had. Even better than blueberries! (Which is hard to believe, we know)
Going to this convention was an incredible adventure, full of memories we will never forget. Now it’s time for us to start the next adventure! Today, we will be ordering supplies for the next four costumes, all of which need to be finished by the end of August. On top of that, we also need to get banners and fixtures ordered for our vendor table at Furry Migration. We have several other exciting announcements that you will be hearing about within the next week or two!

Studios News Update for 2017!

We have a whole bunch of announcements this month, so let’s get to it!
You can wear glasses!
Some of us are kind of blind and need these glass lenses over our eyes for us to see. Unfortunately, most of the fursuit makers on the market don’t allow space for them underneath your mascot head. Through a bunch of research our heads DO allow you the space to keep your glasses on. If you wear the goggles from the 1980s we can’t guarantee they will fit, but all the modern designs seem to fit pretty well!
Becoming a full-fledged business!
We are excited to say that we have finished the registration process and are now officially Blue Rabbit Studios, LLC. This is super important to us because it underscores our commitment to our community, our craft and our customers.
Updates to Examples page!
We have added pictures of our latest costume, Alkora Rabbit, to our Examples page on blue-rabbit-studios.com! This suit contains a plug-and-play LED lighting system that is accessed with a small controller on this inside of one of the hand paws. This controller allows you to quickly change the light colors and switch on and off audio sensitivity. It gives you so many great options as a performer to interact with your audience!
First round of commissions coming up!
Have you ever had to order enough fur for a half dozen fursuits at once? This will be our first time doing it, and we are hoping to make it a regular thing. We are also working on a hand paw commission that we raffled off last month. Busy bunnies are busy!
Website revamp!
We are in the process of updating the look and feel of our website to something a little more dynamic. Something that screams, “OMG BUNNIES!!!”. Come to think of it, screaming scares us bunnies so maybe something that says, “These cute bunnies are for real”, rather than screams it.
Commissions still open!
If you like what you see, be sure to use the Quote link at the top of our website. All quotes are answered within 24 hours by a courteous bunny rabbit devoted to understanding your needs and wanting to work with you to bring that special character to life! We do all critters, not just bunnies!

Second - We are trying to fill our commission queue. If you have a suit you really want and want it FAST, we are accepting commissions to be completed by March of 2017. Though we have been making suits for years, this is the first time we are trying to make this work as a business and starting up a business is super scary, so filling that queue and gaining momentum is really important to us.
