Trading wet specimens for COMMON skulls!
Posted 10 years agoHello!
Upon reorganizing the cabinet I was stunned to realize that I never replaced my more common species in the cabinet the last time I had to have an emergency sale. So, I'm on the hunt for some common native US Species!
I'm willing to trade a rather beautiful wet preserved red corn snake that I did myself, she's over 3 feet in length, or a pair of wet preserved ball pythons for it. They can be found pictured in the gallery if you are interested!
I'm looking for the following cleaned skulls, must have mandibles and most/all teeth with no major damage!
Coyote
Oppossum
Raccoon
Rat
Mouse
I prefer to trade for most/all in one go if at all possible.

Will trade taxidermy/custom plush for resin blanks!
Posted 11 years agoHey guys!
I'm in need of a resin canine base, preferably something with a narrow muzzle (like fox) as it'll be altered with foam to get the shape I need. I find resin bases to be quite comfortable compared to having foam pressed all over my face as my foam heads usually end up doing. ^^;
I can't cast resin any more simply because well...I'm highly allergic to uncured resin. I break out in a miserable itchy rash along my arms that I don't really want to relive. So I need someone to cast one for me! Or perhaps, someone already has one cast they're willing to part with?
Would REALLY like a DVC snarly blank but also need the skinny muzzle ones. Would love to get a couple from a few different styles. Wanting both canine and feline if you got em!
Inside must be quite smooth and nothing super lumpy/heavy/thick. But I'm not really wanting anything thin and fragile either. Can be a miscast with a few drips inside, no big deal I know how to fix that quickly.
I prefer one toony as I'll need the "larger' eye sockets for the character I will be doing. (except for the fact you might have a snarly realistic one haha)
In exchange I'll make you a custom chibi plushie of your selected character (please, nothing overly complicated...no stripey cats/spots for the sake of my sanity) http://bluewolfcheetah.deviantart.c.....SOLD-304403805 kind of like this, but I can do one "teddy bear" style for anthromorphic characters :)
I need the base ASAP but I do work full time, I will do my best to promptly get your plush done.
I'd had another trade lined up but I'm guessing it may have fallen through, so would like to line up a trade.

Craft quality furs and faux fur needed!
Posted 11 years agoHey everyone,
I'm a seamstress by trade and greatly enjoy sewing when I'm not articulating. I'm in need of some SOFT leather fur scraps, at the very least around 7x7 inches or bigger. Faux fur or real fur, but need to know exactly what animal the real fur belonged to.
Nothing very short, thinly furred or very coarse (like javelina for example, I hate how their hair feels lol)
Need browns mostly. Nothing stripey/overly patterned like zebra or giraffe. I think rabbit, fox, coyote, badger, ect would work best for this project. Leather needs to be soft and pliable, please. If I'm able to get what I need, I'll be sure to share the finished project if anyone's interested
I have easier access to my email so for a more prompt response get hold of me at Kaylala90[at]aol.com
I prefer to pay via paypal only please

Looking for some Taxidermy Glass Eyes!
Posted 11 years agoI have a few projects in mind and I am in some need of some glass eyes!
I recently purchased some bobcat eyes from vandykes, they're quite lovely! But I need something more exotic and unusual. Anyone have some custom glass eyes they are willing to part with, needing 18-20mm in size but wouldn't mind something a little larger. :)
Would love something with some blue in there!

Trading skulls/skeletons for NETSUKE
Posted 11 years agoI'm not sure if it's necessarily a "curious" item but I thought I would ask here anyway. Anyone here collect Netsuke? I'm getting further into the hobby as I've always loved and admired the stunning detail in these little figures. I purchased my first one yesterday, a rhino. I'd love to get more and more lol. May even trade some of my skulls for some if anyone has some they'd like to part with!

Reptiles, small mammals, and birds needed!
Posted 11 years agoHey all,
I'm looking for snakes and lizards especially. Skin condition doesn't matter, just need no broken/damaged bones as I need the bones. So if you have something in the freezer that's been freezer burned and maybe not of any use for taxidermy, give me a holler. Prefer larger snakes, but would take some somewhat smaller ones too. Looking for lizards too, just about any species but nothing super tiny. Preferring to stay about bearded dragon size and up, but will go a little lower if its something interesting.
Also interested in birds such as parakeets, finches, sparrows, anything small and perfectly legal to own. Again, feathers don't have to be perfect, just after the bones so no broken bones please!
For mammals, after the following but not limited to:
Rats
Mice
Moles
Chipmunks
Rabbits (smaller the better but not baby)
Hedgehogs
Guinea pigs
Hamsters
If you have more then one thing I'd be interested in I prefer to buy in multiples to save on shipping but will purchase from multiple sources if need be. Please be able to provide a pic of what I'm considering buying, and accept Paypal as that's the only way I'll pay for 'em. Sometimes I don't get on here to check messages/comments on my posts so best way to get hold of me is email Kaylala90[at]aol.com

Complete Possum skeleton for sale/trade!
Posted 11 years agohttp://www.furaffinity.net/view/13289262/
Image and more info can be found up there! ^^^^^
I'm not going to have time to assemble her as I had hoped and I'd rather her go somewhere that she can be articulated other then just sit arond here in a box for who knows how long.

I'm asking 100 OBO OOOOOR a trade! I'm open to trades!
Things I'd be interested in but definitely not limited to:
Frozen reptiles (little to no damage, skin doesn't have to be perfect I want the bones)
Diaphonized specimens
Skulls (nothing like a coyote or raccoon guys please)
Skeletons
Frozen mice, rats, birds, rabbits, I'm open to pretty much anything!
Please feel free to offer guys, I don't bite I promise! :3

Want to see how we do it?
Posted 11 years agoI caved, and created an Instagram page where we update pretty frequently as long as we have something to work on if you would like to see the various steps we take from cleaning, articulating, processing and more.
A special look at how things go from a frozen carcass to a cleaned and beautiful articulation display!
You can find us there as BluesBones. Here's a link if you would like to see it here on the computer:
http://instagram.com/bluesbones@
Feel free to ask questions there and we'll give it our best shot to answer you! We don't bite, promise! We just nibble a little :P

Insects: who wants some for collecting?
Posted 11 years agoAnyone else here interested in insect collecting? I stick mostly to beetles as they're just...my favorites, I love the armored critters. I've been thinking of getting more specimens and spreading them and putting them up for sale, but need to know if anyone would even be interested in them. I'd hate to have a ton of them laying around, and no one want any of them. xD Beetles, weevils, maybe some mantids and butterflies. Big maybe on the butterflies, they're very difficult to ship safely once spread.
Wanted: wolverine skull
Posted 11 years agoHey all,
I'm looking to add a wolverine to the collection as that'd complete my collection of large carnivores of North America! Raw preferrably, but I won't turn down a deal for a cleaned one. Minor chipped teeth are fine, but broken/missing..nope. Need all teeth to be there, no broken canines (half missing kind of broken. Chipped a little is okay)
USA only guys, payment via paypal only. And please be able to provide pics especially if it's cleaned. Thanks guys!

Know someone who can import?
Posted 11 years agoI'm a stickler when it comes to following these laws, as adding a new piece to my collection is NOT worth risking a very heavy fine...or worse, jail time. So I'm not willing to play the "They won't catch me" card.
Does anyone know of someone who can import tanned skins into the USA -legally-? I would like very much to add a mountable european badger skin to my collection...but its a matter of finding someone who can import. I haven't the funds for it RIGHT THIS MOMENT I'm sure, but I would like to know of someone who can help me out for when I do get the funds.
Also please note that on Tuesday, I (Bluewolfcheetah) will be having oral surgery and will not be active for at least a week while I recover and try to not starve. xD

Freezer cleanout sale!
Posted 11 years agoHey guys!
I've got a few things that I know I'll most likely not get around to any time soon and my freezer is so packed that I'd like to make some room. My loss is your gain, I guess! Some of these I wont' have time to mount, have no where to display the finished product. So its a matter of choosing what I'd like to keep the most.
They're small animals so they shall fit in priority boxes to make shipping pretty simple. It will be between 13-18 to ship as they'll be shipped Priority 2 day and no other way to avoid thawing/spoiling. Prices of shipping are NOT included in the price listed below.
List is as follows. Keep in mind these are RAW still on the carcass:
Beautiful pied pigeon; suitable for mounting, excillent condition $10
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12619535/
European Starling; should be mountable, beautiful shiny feathers $10
(no photo available yet)
Black Squirrel; wet from getting a bath to wash off mud; $25
Red Squirrel; cute little fella; $25
(no photos available, frozen whole in their bags in the freezer. I don't want to have to unwrap them out of their layers to get to it.)
Or get the pair of squirrels for $40 plus shipping (I already have a huge squirrel I'll be mounting, and I can't have several squirrels all over my display area when I have other specimens coming in)
African Crowned Crane skull; raw in pristine condition no damage; asking $100 SHIPPED for this rarity!

Paws for references! You want?
Posted 11 years agoI've been experimenting with preserving the feet/paws of various North American animals, currently coyote.
They're posed both relaxed, and standing. I haven't been able to get into the building they are housed in due to ice freezing the door shut. -_- So, as of right this moment, I haven't any photos! Arg!
I was wondering, would anyone be interested in purchasing some for their anatomy studies/collections? I find animal feet fascinating, the differences in pads, toes, claws...it's proving very helpful for my art to have them on hand for my studies.
These are dry preserved meaning you can hold them right in your hand, no jars or fluids needed. Just keep them in a dry environment and you're fine. :)
Some species that I can offer will be listed here. Just need to see if anyone would be interested before I jump in head first and process a lot of these and can't get rid of them. ^^; These are fur on, pads, everything in tact for referencing. This isn't a hollow tanned skin, this is a preserved whole paw with bones and all!
•Badger
•Coyote
•Fox (mostly red fox)
•Possum (one of my favorites!)
•Beaver
•Otter (-maybe-)
•Squirrel
•Raccoon
•Nutria
Just a few off the top of my head that I have access to. They'd range from $7-$25 a piece give or take. And of course, sorry guys USA only!

Need feet/paws!
Posted 11 years agoHey all,
Due to a small mishap, I'm in need of finding some replacement feet. Mostly after the raw feet if I can't get my mits on them already cleaned.
Needing all four feet (please make sure that at least all the toe bones and claws are present)
of the following:
North American Badger
Possum
Hopefully someone can help me out! Preferably skinned so all I'll need to do is dry them out and plop them in the beetle bin but not completely necessary. I can do the dirty work myself if really needed.

Works in Progress!
Posted 12 years agoThought it was time to update the journal, so here's a quick update of some things we currently have in the works.
Crow (frozen whole; will be mounted hopefully)
3 ermine (2 brown/white 1 greyback; frozen whole; will be tanned/mounted)
1 pathological horse skull (being cleaned)
1 badger (being tanned)
1 red phase coyote (in freezer)
3 doe legs (in freezer)
4 coyote paws (being processed right now for study)
2 black bear paws (Tanned and arrived today!)
1 badger skeleton (being cleaned)
1 possom skeleton (being cleaned)
The doe and coyote will be on their way to the tannery once Shel has room in his freezer, very excited to get the coyote especially done. The doe has a cape attached alogn with her skull, it will be given to him in exchange for tanning the back skin for my displays. This doe was hunted for food, she currently fills the lower part of our freezer...and I'll admit, she's pretty dang delicious. Venison is very good for you, better then any store bought meat. Her skin was saved so that not one part of her would go to waste. It'll be tanned for display, and possibly for crafts if I can get up the courage to cut into the leather. She's so beautiful I'll probably just keep her whole.

Nothing says Merry Christmas..
Posted 12 years agoLike a friend showing up on your doorstep with a walmart sack full of severed coyote feet for you. HAHA!
Thank you Jeff, very much, for the awesome gift! I'm going to try and dry preserve them posed standing and some slack. We'll see how it goes, I'm eager to try it out. I'll give them a real good washign and drying before posing them and putting them to borax for a month or two. It'll take a long time, but it'll be worth it. :D

Realistic fursuit for trade!
Posted 12 years agoI've this realistic suit head up for grabs http://www.furbuy.com/auctions/1049543.html
It's taking up room, I have no where to wear her, and would really to let it go to someone who could really make use of it. Works for both male and female characters with ease, fairly gender neutral.
I'd prefer to sell her outright...BUT as some of you may know, I collect taxidermy related things. Mostly skulls and skeletons (okay thats pretty much all that I collect lol)
So, if you've any skulls, mounted animals, or lifesized skins you'd like to trade for her, please don't hesitate to chime in! But please, don't lowball me and offer me a coyote skull or coon, things that are rather inexpensive and very very easy to find.
However, if you have a mounted raccoon or coyote shoulder mount, then I'd be interested!

UPDATE Bone Tutorials
Posted 12 years agoOkay guys, sorry for the delays.
I'm (Kayla/BWC) am currently working on three skeletons at once. (One is finished, will post pics soon). The pocket gopher tutorial was momenterily on hold as things were drying/materials being bought/ect. So it's taken a while to get this other part done. ^^;
Tonight I am working on assembling the pocket gopher to his base. He -may- be for sale once finished if there is anyone genuinly intersted in this adorable little rodent please speak now to reserve him! Serious inquires only, please!
As for an update on the cleaning tutorial...well...it's going to be on hold for a while due to a very unforseen mishap that is preventing insects from cleaning it.
The supplier of the skulls failed to inform us that they were exposed to chemicals, so no insects will even touch them for cleaning. We had to go with maceration to clean these skulls...and in doing so, the skulls fell apart. Have you any idea how hard it is to put together a 1.5 inch snake skull that is in 30 pieces plus all the teeth?
Hopefully soon we will acquire some raw skulls relitively fresh and get a tutorial for you guys. Thank you!
