Got Called Away
Posted 9 years agoJust a heads-up, artwork IS being worked on! I got called away for the weekend, the wife decided she wanted to go to Wheeling, West Virginia late Friday morning. Now if you're like me, and I know I am, your first thought is, "wait, she wanted to go to Wheeling on purpose?" Well, believe it or don't, in what's left of a functioning Wheeling is an ECHL hockey team, the Wheeling Nailers, and that night was Game 1 of Round 2 of the Kelly Cup finals. The Nailers have a deal with a local historic hotel, McClure House, and a local eatery, Generations, that you can get for a package price; around $155 gets you a nice-sized room -- double, $10 more a single king, try and figure that one out -- a $20 dinner voucher, and 2 tickets to the game, and the seats always seem to be good ones. She was paying, so we went.
Nailers won!
Next day she asked what I thought about staying another night. Frankly I had things to do for my new side job with a company called MTI, something part time to make sure money comes in while I'm starting the real estate career. Not wanting to disappoint her I agreed. So we spent Saturday going across the bridge to Wheeling Island where I could lose a few dollars on the slot machines, we watched 15 greyhound races -- the dogs, not the passenger buses, though that would've been cool, watching the dogs trying to outrun the buses and those huge wheels -- then an hour's drive to Mountaineer in Chester, WV, via Ohio, to watch the horses run, where on one race and on one slot machine I sort of made up my losses.
A good time was had by all methinks. 'cept the drive back in the pitch dark during a heavy rain, that was sort of a bitch. But I'm back and at it!

Prince Commercial
Posted 9 years agoI thought in respect for the passing of the artist once again known as Prince that you might enjoy seeing a commercial from the 1980s when Prince was new and exciting and hitting the height of his popularity.
Discount Sketches!
Posted 9 years agoI have to cover expenses in my new real estate career, and need to pool some money quick-like. So, $10 sketches! No background, $5 for a simple background, $5 per additional character. $10 if you'd like it inked. Rush on over in a buying frenzy!
Been Exactly One Year
Posted 9 years agoI am an AGENT!
Posted 9 years agoI couldn't get my actual license because Northwood Realty Services hasn't yet renewed its broker's license, they don't do that until mid-May when EVERYONE renews (on even-numbered years), so they gave me a Temporary Authority to Practice until the renewal comes in, then they'll send out my actual license. So I'm no longer barely legal, I'm able to practice real estate!
Which involves a good deal of expense, anyone who would like to help out a struggling newcomer to the business please feel free to scroll down to my Go Fund Me page or go to my tip jar at www.chrisfoxx.com and thank you for your support!
And anyone seriously looking to buy or sell a house in Pennsylvania, drop me a note! Looking elsewhere in the world, drop me a note and I'll hook you up with a reliable agent in the area in which you're looking or wish to list.
Thursday WAS the Day!
Posted 9 years agoRemember my last journal in which I said last Thursday I was going to take my stand and national real estate exams?
Naaaaaaiiiiiiiled 'em!
As we speak, I'm waiting for my license, which may take up to a few weeks. Only problem is it should arrive so I can start this straight commission gig just as my unemployment runs out :P
Soooooooooo HEY!

Thursday is The Day!
Posted 9 years agoThis Thursday at 1:30 PM EST, I will be taking the exams for my Pennsylvania real estate license.
2 exams, one for the state portion and one for the national portion. I pass 'em both, I can run my criminal background check and apply for the license. Depending on how fast they go, next week I could be selling dirt and houses. Wish me luck! Prayers gratefully accepted. Gotta pass, gotta pass!

Posted 10 years agoExactly 2 weeks after I'm diagnosed with diabetes, I lose my job.
It's the next round of layoffs and I got caught in it.
Fingers crossed in an attitude of prayer for me.
Thank goodness I have my tip jar on my front page.
And my certifications.
And my HSA, such as what's left in it.
And my wife and my family.
And God.
Oy.

Anthrocon Meme, Because Others are Doing It
Posted 10 years agoKeep in mind I am very approachable, don't be shy about coming up to me!
Where are you staying?
EconoLodge, which reminds me I still need to book a room!
What day are you getting there?
Friday
How are you traveling?
In my brand new (to me) Toyota Venza ('09). White, look for a black pawprint on the gas door that says "The Best Things in Life are Furry"
Who will you be rooming with?
hunterbahamut
How is the best way to find you?
I'm on the con staff working the art show under the name
chrisfoxx also wearing a BondoFox character badge. When I'm not there I'm usually roaming around in the Dealer's Den and Artist's Alley, in the men's room, or someplace else
Are there any panels you might be attending?
I want to say yes, but I never seem to remember them. I'd like to attend an art-based one if I can, I so need to improve my skills.
What do you look like?
Male Caucasian, 190 pounds or so, 5'8", green eyes, medium brown hair if I remember to color it before I go otherwise a mix of (yech) grey and brown, wire-rim glasses. When I'm not working the show I may be carrying 1 or 2 messenger bags with sketch books and art supplies. T-shirts most likely in which to be seen (please appreciate impeccable grammar) include Sabrina, the cool Pittsburgh skyline Anthrocon, green with black BondoFox logo, green Watering Hole bar shirt from Suburban Jungle, or something else. Check back regularly as this list is subject to change.
Will you be suiting?
No
What is your gender?
Male
How tall are you?
5'8", I thought we covered this
How old are you?
None of your damn business.
Alright, 54
Relationship Status
Married
Can I talk to you?
Absolutely!
Can I touch you?
Depends on where
Can I visit your room?
If you don't mind making the trip to the outskirts of Pittsburgh (about 10 minutes), yes! Keep in mind I'm rooming with my son. Hey, Can I visit yours?
Can I buy you drinks?
Why yes, yes you can :)
Can I give you stuff?
Wow, better let me think about that one, why yes! And thank you in advance :)
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hug, yes. Snuggle ... how big are your s?
Are you nice?
I do my best!
How long are you going?
I'm taking an over the counter medication to help with that, so not as long as I used to.
As for how long I'm staying, I'll be there until the end of the con on Sunday and for a while after that helping with the art show tear-down
Will you be going to parties?
If someone invites me, I'll go, I'd love to! Only, no one ever invites me to one, so .....
Will you be performing?
That would imply I had talent :P
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Any way that won't embarrass My Good Self. I answer to "Chris", "Foxx", "BondoFox", "Bondo", "Sir", "Master BondoFox", "Master BondoFox Sir", occasionally to "Hey you" ... Check back regularly as this list is subject to change. You can also tap me on the shoulder or hand me heavy, expensive gifts.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Art Show. When I'm not on duty usually roaming the Dealer's Den and/or Artist's Alley
What/where will you be eating?
Food, I eat nothing else. Where, depends on where the freebie coupons the staff members get take me. For sure I'll probably hit the hot dog vendor cart between the convention center and hotel at least once. He grows a decent hot dog. To be honestly perfect, I never really know for sure. Oh, Furnando's at least once, I usually get a freebie meal there.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Probably, sure!
Can I take your picture?
Of course!
Do you do free art?
Depends on for whom and under what circumstances
Do you do trades?
I do!
Do you do commissions?
I do!
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
I do!
Oh . . . The goal is to have a great time, get a lot of art, draw some stuff, not have my hips and my feet kill me before the con's over, meet friends, make new friends, get my art from last year's Anthrocon from Max Blackrabbit and get a new one, get The Gneech to color the Tiffany Tiger: Damsel-in-Distress pics he drew for me before, and hopefully get another hug from Dark Natasha :) :) :)

O-M-F-G, Water!!
Posted 10 years agoThose of you who know me know I've been battling water problems for years now. It runs, then stops running, we wait and it runs for a while, then stops running ... I think we've gone through at least half a dozen deep well pumps since we bought the house from our landlord in 1999, and that's not counting the one he replaced while we were renting here.
Two weeks ago we finally found out why. We hired a professional to come in and, I never would have believed it, the pumps were all failing apparently because our well was dry. When we'd wait long enough it recovered enough to work until it ran low again. Family of 5, dishes, bathing, flushing, wowza. Thank God for our cistern, and one year IT ran dry during the wintertime!
Yesterday they drilled a new well for us, drilling down 280 FEET! Our old one was 240. New liner today, plus new hose, new commercial pump to replace the one he installed 2 weeks ago because IT went bad in 4 days due to the well running out. The mess they left behind is horrendous, and me with my #2 son and his girlfriend coming to visit for the weekend, the house is in shambles, wow. BUT, we have running water again!
You know, you never think of taking a shower or flushing a bog as a luxury. But when you live without it long enough, it's one you don't want to live without. I don't know how the Amish do it. If any Amish are online, please let me know.

Does Anyone Know Cottonlop's Player?
Posted 10 years agoIt's been weeks upon weeks since
cottonlop's been online and I don't mind telling anyone I'm seriously concerned. Might just be computer problems, or so I hope. She just dropped off the face of the Earth. Like my friend Wynter333a on dA. I don't like losing close friends and I'm hoping everything's okay.
If you know her player, please find out and let me know.
Thanks.
