Very peacefully, at least. He'd been on a morphine and sedative drip since thursday, so he was asleep and not in any pain anymore.

I'm extremely lucky to have had him as my dad. I'm gonna miss him.

It's been a while and I've been quiet for a little while so I should provide y'all with an update. The medical talk stuff isn't about me, at least, so y'all don't have to worry about that, at least.

Unfortunately, it is about my dad. He had a transient ischemic attack ain february, about 6 weeks after getting a hip replacement, and while he recovered from that and the hip surgery very well, some things were happening. He'd been put on new medication, notably a pretty heavy dose of anti-cholesterol meds, and he'd started suffering side effects from that. Lack of appetite, feelinng bloated, and he started to lose weight concurrently, so a number of doctor visits and tests followed.

Unfortunately it turned out it wasn't simply a side effect of the medication. Early on in May he was diagnosed with colon cancer, which had already metastasized to his liver. Not a diagnosis anyone wants to hear because at that point the most you could do is stretch however long you have left. Even more unfortunately, the cancer was aggressive enough, and had already weakened him to an extent that really intensive treatment was no longer an option. Weaker treatment options were still available, but they were also very risky at that point, and as likely to shorten his life as prolong it, with the certainty of heavy side effects. So my father opted to forego treatment and instead focus on palliative care, spending what time he has left with us in relative comfort and dignity.

So yeah, my dad's very sick and not getting better. Thankfully he's been in very little pain until basically today, and we're all very grateful to have this time with him still. Things are deteriorating now, however, so we're getting a visit from the doctor next week to see about starting palliative sedation.

I'll be okay, and my family will also be okay, but, y'know. We're all just. Very sad. He's been a really good, supportive, understanding and kind father for my entire life, and I'm acutely aware of how lucky I am to have him as my dad, and I'm going to fucking miss him, really bad.

We're going to take our time to process this when it's done, and I'll be back. Please don't ever forget to cherish your loved ones, y'all. It's important.

Everybody is required by law to be nice to me today.

Let's all do our best to make 2023 a bit nicer than 2022, shall we?

So the reason I haven't posted much for such a while is because I haven't really drawn very much. I've been plugging away at outstanding commissions but that was slow going for well over a year, as I'm sure you've noticed.

Long story short I've had problems with depression and anxiety leading to real bad executive dysfunction and general burnout, but I'm hapy to report that it looks like I'm on the mend. I've been drawing again, both commissions and personal stuff, and while I'm not back to my former output, and won't be for a while so as to not overextend and backslide, I am doing stuff again, and it feels good!

Expect more pictures to trickle out kind of regularly from now on. Baby steps!

Turns out: it was gluten. I ended up cutting gluten from my diet and my symptoms went away almost overnight. Doing pretty good again, so expect more art soon!

Hey y'all! You might've noticed that I've been less active recently and you may have been wondering what that's about!

Well, I've been sick. Just, persistent tummy troubles, basically. I've been seeing a doctor to try and figure out what the source of the problem is, so I guess we'll see. It's nothing too serious compared to what some other folks might have to deal with, but it still stopped me from getting much work done for most of february and early march.

I have been doing better recently, however. Or well, things have improved to the point where I can work again, so I've been getting back into that. I'm doing my best to wrap up my outstanding commissions as soon as possible so I can take on new ones.

I've also been trying to figure out how to rearrange my streams so I can do those on a regular basis again, so keep an eye out for more info on those, too!
