The question is formulated in regards to biological terms, and I got really lost trying to redact an answer.
How can a part of my body as a biological organism be responsible of a process that has no aparent practical impact on my vital functions, and why is it directed on a specific direction?
Why do I feel as natural to incorporate certain shapes, sounds, topics, attitudes, as part of the personal languaje I use to draw, write, behave or appreciate?
