A holiday season that I will want to forget
Posted 12 years ago2012 is almost over. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
The ultimate 'worst of times' came just last Thursday =, when my home was broken into and a majority of my higher end electronics were stolen.
I lost my laptop, some camera equipment, and an Xbox, and some other electronics.
The thieves broke in through my back glass patio door and did it while I was at work.
Insurance will send me a check, but only for 'depreciated value', except for the home repair.
I'm happy to be alive, but right now, that's about all.
Besides that bad news, I hope that all my friends out there have a safe, happy New Year celebration surrounded by family and friends! I'll most likely be working.

Looking for *ORLANDO, FL* food suggestions to dine at...
Posted 13 years agoTo anyone that has visited Orlando, FL, or lives local within the surrounding areas:
I'm searching for a great restaurant, with average prices, that is open late during the week. (Like till 2am-ish.)
I live in zipcode 34744, so places closer to there would be more appreciated.
Not Indian cuisine, or sushi, please.
These cuisines are more along my tastes: American, German, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese.
Thank you in advance if you reply.
It would help, please, if within the reply, you could post a URL or name/address/phone of the restaurant you are suggesting.
Thank you again in advance.

My 2012 Event Schedule *tentative*
Posted 14 years agoWell, I had to go and tell my employer today what days I wanted for 2012 as vacation.
It *SUCKS* that I have to tell them this far in advance what I want to do, because who knows what will happen over the next year. Things could all change in a heartbeat....
Anyways, I wanted to post the *tentative* schedule of events that I will *HOPEFULLY* be attending next year.
This is under the assumption that I have the funds to travel, and pay for my share of hotel rooms and such...
I have a house to support now and a mortgage to pay, so money is tighter than before.
King Elliott Winter Carnival (January)
MegaCon (February)
F.W.A. (March)
King Elliott Spring Event (May)
Megaplex (July) (*which I will once again be part of staff of the Sponsor site with DingoRoo and Takala)
DragonCon (September)
Furloween (October)
If you are attending any of the Atlanta events, and you know of room space that is available, you can private message me, and let me know.
My only 'requirement' is that I get 1 bed all to myself (which I will pay some extra to have, seeing as I'm over 6 feet tall, and have slight lower back issues, so floor space is NOT an option).

Something terrible happened in my neighborhood......
Posted 14 years agoI'm not even sure how I should post what I want to say. I'm just numb at the news.
My next door neighbor was found dead in her home last night (Tuesday). Her neighbors and I hadn't seen her for a few days, and the neighbor on the other side of her house called the police, to ask them to just go check on her. They had to break into a side door, and apparently immediately were overcome by the odor of decay.
I'd only seen her once in the 5 months I've lived here, and I tried to 'make contact' when her aged dog had passed away a couple months ago, by leaving a sympathy note on her car, but she never contacted me back.
Near as I could tell from that one encounter, I *think* she might have been in her late 60's. (I terrible at guessing age.)
I don't know how to feel over this. I'm sad that she passed away, but I feel there should be more. But since I didn't actually know her, there can't be more.
Hopefully this won't effect me really bad, since I'm still not over my parents passing away, even though I didn't know Carol (that's the neighbor) at all.
Today I was numb at work. Didn't really care about anything, or anyone... Just went through the motions of my job. I hope this doesn't continue.
*Crosses fingers*
Wish me luck.
