I can do 3D Commissions (cheap & expensive) - got advice?
General | Posted 13 years agoCommissions update:
illustration is my hobby
Please hang tight, I've got a lot of stuff going on in my life, but I'm going to get to all your stuff eventually. Everybody that has deadlines, please remind me, and I'll get them on my calendar.
3D work
My hobby is illustration, my trade, tools, and training are for 3D animation, and I want to Sell my professional side to the Furry audience. My icon here is like a Donkey Kong snes graphic, which doesn't reveal a lot about what I can do. In character motion & acting I'm capable of a rating between Pixar and Illumination Entertainment, and in every other category I'm at or above kids TV. I'm going to make my portfolio available through Youtube in the coming weeks.
I'm working toward offering Cheap 3D commissions, but before I begin...
3D Auction
I want to start off my 3D/Furry career with an auction. I'm going to create an auction (ebay, I guess... why isn't there support for sites like Furbid?) and advertise it on Furaffinity. It will be a full studio treatment character package, a value of multiple thousands of dollars, cut down in price and made affordable because of how much I've already invested, plus I'm investing resources in material I can use in future commissions. However the total commission will still be for Mid to High rollers $200 - $2000. After all, I will be putting a certain measure of professional grade work in it.
Edit: I'm not asking anybody to lay down money before I show examples. The fact is I already have examples, I just don't have my stuff online.
Please Advise
Does any good advice come to your mind as to how I should auction this stuff? Where to sell and How long should I have it open?

General | Posted 13 years agoI said I'd be online Monday but with the depressing events of last week I'm afraid I won't me much good as a conversationalist and I doubt my art will be much inspired anyway.
Ah Mario Paint...
General | Posted 13 years agoAnybody grow up on that?
Sometimes I wish there were a version of sai or photoshop that had fun sound effects for the sprays erasers and markers.
...oh and a bark when you undo.
Ah good times.

How many of you remember Animalympics?
General | Posted 13 years agoThis is so 80's it's great.
Animalympics
This is old school. Early 80's right when I was born. It's better if you know the times better. For one small example, Created in the days of the first Tron, right in the era where a photo animation technique made everything... Shiney. And the animation is lovely with a peppery dash of humor. I remember thinking the animation is a little sexual for kids, but looking back I don't think the artists could help it. There's just something amazingly visceral about seeing the human body at its peak.
Also, Animatrix. The Matrix's only worthy sequel.

YAAYY I'm in business!
General | Posted 13 years agoI've got MASSIVE projects going, of my own, and it's wonderful. Please Please leave feedback on my latest post.
On the side, I'm going to do art for free. Always. I will receive donations from anybody that feels they benefit from my work and can spare some change, but I will also offer my services pro bono on kind of a street artists with chalk sort of thing working for tips. But it's going to be smarter than that, I'm going to add a capitalistic twist, it'll be good.
I want to start a lot of things including a Websit, YouTube Channel, Livestream, Blog, and Web Comics so if anybody has advice please do tell.

Q&A, furries, and Join.me
General | Posted 13 years agoWow, thanks so much all of you, it's great to have a network of friendly intelligent opinions.
I think I'll use Join.me but I'm still looking into it.
More questions:
I need a good video editor fast. Is there an adequate open source option? Something reasonably priced is an okay option too.

FURRIES
Thanks again being willing to discuss things with me.
That's why I've remained stuck in the furry world for so long, even though it can create kind of a.. well I'm kind of complicated about... things... well flip it, guys, we all recognize there's a hole of a lot of pervs around here, most of us are wayy off balance (which includes me I'm no different!), but I see in you exactly what I see in well, fn everything--progress and potential.
To show the world what part the idea of anthropomorphism plays in the art universe, we need to show its value.
The fact is, animals are profoundly inspiring. Especially to a trained veterinarian-like mind that can dissect an animal with their eyes. There's an amazing amount of chaos and order, beauty, history, potential, nature, and value packed into the frame of an animal. It can be electric, illuminating, exhilarating.
Infuse that with the spark that separates mankind from animal and you get a whole new breed of fantasy. It runs along the lines of dragons and demi-gods.
To infuse a body so powerful and sensitive with all the sense of confusion and wonder that is the exclusive experience of human, you get a picture that is scorchingly vivid. You look at humanity from a different perspective.
However, like food, sex, pot and baseball, it has it's own unique dangers if things get out of balance.
Look I know normally I'm very quiet about things and don't like to stir things much, but some massively big things are about to hit us. Things are going to start shifting in a big way believe me. What's crazy is maybe it won't be a natural disaster as much as a massive intellectual shift. We want you, furries, on the boat when things start sliding around, ok? But we've got a few things to learn about true character design before we ever branch into our true potential.
Hey, the first legitimately anthro movie (ninja turtles) to arrive, post-CG revolution, is going to hit not long from now. It'll be interesting to see how it goes. If they botch it, things are going to get wild.
I want to get things rolling. How about I do an experiment. I'll hop online tomorrow or Saturday all day in chunks of 30 min, and let's just discuss the furry world while I draw.
I'll keep you posted.

Would you guys like custom 3D animated icons for $10?
General | Posted 13 years agoPlease read this and tell me if you would be interested, I'd like to know what kind of demand there would be.
I'm creating a 3D rig that can transform into a simple version of -- well anybody. Kind of like how you can paint the minecraft man to look like any character, except my rig can change proportions and contour with a great deal of elasticity.... and it would have ears. I'd also add dynamic cloth if it called for it (like a dress) and hair, then animate it doing whatever you ask for, and convert it into an animated gif usable on FA. Depending on your priorities, I would balance simplified color schemes/toon colors, frame rate, size and time length to fit in the F.A. data requirements (I'm good at that sort of thing) but could also send a higher quality render. For data and limited palette, toon-shaded is probably better than the speckled look seen in my icon and can be longer too. For color and modeling simplicity hair would probably be done in solid anime chunks. I'll create a demo once my system is finished but I wanted to get your early thoughts.
I could probably spit them out for $10 a piece. Does this sound interesting to you?

My direction in art.
General | Posted 14 years agoIn case you haven't noticed, I haven't been doing a lot of commissions. I've been occupied with other things. What's more, I don't want to continue things the way I've been doing them. I'd like to get a little closer to my own identity, style, and preferences. The simple fact is, I don't like my art. Not that I think it's all that bad, I just feel like there's a whole world of exploration to do. Also if I'm going to continue doing commissions, I'm going to need a lot more discipline. I let things drag on and I also spend way more time than I need to, being inefficient, and not sticking to plans. I also go past the mark hoping that I would come up with something more suitable to show outside the realm of small time personal art page, and so far what I have is two character pieces, one without clothing, and one violent, so neither of which I feel is really something I want to show to represent “Me” anyway. So for one, I want to get back to doing some personal work, and two, I think maybe I'll try being selective about what commissions I find most along those line. I've been doing more than a lot of soul-searching lately, and I think it's time my art reflect that.
I'm back online.
General | Posted 14 years agoAlright. It's been a long road, but I'm finally back on the scene. Thanks everybody for your support.
I'm now officially invested in doing commission work, although there will be a few changes to my work model. I can take names if anybody is interested, but first I'm going to get back to all the people I put on my list long ago and see how many of them want commissions. I will give information to those people first. Wait for word from me in your NOTES.
Would it be better to contact people through shouts or anything different like that?

Yo FA what up
General | Posted 14 years agoOK things are still Pretty Hectic but I think things are still heading back toward doing commissions, no guarantee, but the forecasts appear reasonable.
To the two who are still waiting, I haven't forgotten you. I want to do your commissions at a time when I know I'll get it right because I know yours could be great :)

General | Posted 14 years agoSo sorry I haven't gotten back to you in so long. I'm in the middle of giving my whole life an overhaul. I'll be back doing commissions just as soon as I can, when things settled down a little.

Auction
General | Posted 14 years agoI posted a ladder auction on thedealersden.com for a commission.
I have a list of people that have expressed interest in getting a commission from me, and I'm getting to those now, but I'm going to give someone the chance to score a spot at the front of the line. http://www.thedealersden.com/auction_details.php?name=Ladder-Auction&auction_id=105949

Question: mp4 creator software
General | Posted 14 years agoDoes anybody know any free or low-priced software that would allow me to create an MP4 video, set the bitrate, set the frame rate specifically to 10fps, and, you know, actually WORKS? (also says codecID is "mp42"...) So far everything I've tried has been bust.
Generic Noob Website setup question: searchability
General | Posted 14 years agoDumb question, but the easiest way to find out is to ask. Is there something specific you should do when setting up a website to make sure is can be found easily in common search engines such as google?
I'm setting up a basic page for my friend, and it's the first time it's been actually necessary for me to make something searchable.

Quick FA submission Tip
General | Posted 14 years agoI didn't notice/realize that if your image is larger than the standard limit (appears to be 1280px) the F.A. system will automatically resize it. No biggie, but there's a loss of sharpness/clarity so if you don't care to make people press the download option, best to resize it yourself to preserve ideal quality.
Doing some F.A. again.
General | Posted 14 years agoAfter a long hiatus, or several long hiatuses, I'm trying to get back into things. I'll probably be trying to do some commission (only what I can on the side) Don't take that to mean that I'm exactly going to be updating frequently but at least it's a start.
Oh, and then new icon, better, or worse?

General | Posted 15 years agoI'm still making progress on my wrists. They're starting to feel about like normal healthy wrists.
I have one commission I've been working on that I should have finished months and months ago. I should finish that soon.
After I complete said commission I will probably... stop working on commissions for quite a while.
But that's not really any different from the way things are now, is it?
