General | Posted 13 years agobut i am a total procrastinator eh lol. well not much to update on too much but here goes.
went on leave last week to go back to my home town. this time i drove, and man what a drive. if you are canadian and love wildlife and the outdoors like I do, I recommend you visit Jasper national park. the views are amazing and the chances to see wildlife right off the road are there (saw a few bull elk, mountain goats, mountain sheep, bears and a moose going through)
brought mom and the dog back with me as well as the rest of my personal belongings. the most important part of that though is the fact that my dog Dexter is now here to stay with me XD. it is so much better to be able to get off work and be greeted with a sleepy dozy just waking up yet very excited puppy (well dog, hes almost 5).
also with coming back I got farmed out to another unit on base. I went from working in A Veh working on the leopard main battle tank engines to 1field ambulance doing vehicle inspections. I would prefer to stay with the armoured side of things but I do need to get the experience and stuff signed off on my OJT book. seems like a gucci place to work so far so we will see how it goes.

What is it about a fursona..... heres mine (long)
General | Posted 13 years agoI have thought of this one for a little while and saw some humor or irony in my story so just wanted to share it. More or less, how i got in to the fandom and why I chose my Fursona.
so about a year ago on army time, i went to my friend Phreddy fox's room in the barracks and discovered the fandom via youtube videos by accident... man was I hooked instantly. I took the plunge to try and determine my Fursona. I also was determined to get my self a suit. I was lucky enough to find one on furbuy that was close to where I was based, and that was how I ended up with Sierra. I knew though that was not the main character that I would end up being, and it wasnt until around say last fall or early winter of last year that I started to really get an idea of what it would be.
A little bit about me and the reason why I chose Edge, a male black tailed deer (yeah i know he has red too eh lol). I am originally from the coast of British Columbia, and over there are the prettiest of deer (IMO) which well i am sure you guessed it, are black tailed deer. very similar to a mule deer in antler configuration but well, a tail more like a white tail's, but with a black tip on the outside. Along with growing up in BC, I grew up with hunting deer (OMG! please now no hate talk, I use what I get and work hard for it and am forever thankful... unlike most people with their meat) and with that grew up chasing these deer through the woods and gaining a strong respect to them. I doubt many people here can say they had a freaking fawn walk literally a foot from them away (yes while hunting and no I was not in a stand).
okay so we have determined a bit of a respect thing for the species, what about the other details? well i didnt really think about it much on colour, but I did recently realize that well they reflect the same colouring that is used in native art, we have a native community in my home town. And about a male character? I grew up a tom boy kind of girl.... I work on tanks for a job so far haha, not very lady like am I? Although I enjoy going to the mall, I also enjoy shooting, driving trucks (big and small), dumb army shit, and well, mostly guy things... and things i dislike well, girly stuff and... boobs. sorry but just cant like em haha, especially on a furry, just not my thing. that would also show how I choose a more feral image too. I would prefer to be a deer with antlers, and a doe just doesnt cut it.
so I guess it comes down to the conclusion that my character must be some uhh cannibalistic carnivorous.... deer lol. I do have to laugh at the thought... but really... just... no.

army life really starts to get interesting now yay!
General | Posted 13 years agoOkay well I havent really posted any interesting journals so why not start today eh? haha any ways as the furries that I met in Ontario know, I have moved to the cold, flat province of Alberta. It was the best of 2 places to get posted for my OJT (on the job training) portion of my training.
So what has happened up until this point? well since graduating basic training I had been in Ontario for a year doing courses that ranged from driving (small vehicles up to 10tonnes with air brakes, no armoured yet though) soldier qualification (cock course with a week of living in the bush army style) and a course that pretty much taught us about the regiment that we belong to.
Once all that little stuff got out of the way it was on to the trades training.... 7 grueling months of death by power point followed by death by running. the runs them self were not so bad its just the way every PT day turned in to a run every time. But in the end we graduated (or should I say survived) that portion and then well, now I just started the adventure in Alberta (Hey if there are any alberta furs that are watching me we need to meet okay lol)
So the first few days here at the Battalion have been chill, got to meet a bunch of higher ups (even did an air hump to answer a question lol ask if you want the story). then of course there are the usual army life things like inspections, thankfully now I can finally live off base so I dont always have to keep my room spotless, but uniform and boots are big things. I did learn a valuable thing though... It pays off to know people in high places. A warrant officer that my course knew got a bunch of us to work for him. for me and a friend that means working around and soon on some of the Leopard Tank engines!! although it doesnt seem like much yet man the sound of one of those engines on the test stand running is enough to convince me that I would never wanna be at the business end of one of them EVER!
it was pretty cool today, cant wait to see what else I will be able to do while here, totally gonna be trying to get in on a field exercise soon enough.

i am in single quarters on a military base and well its only got space for pretty much a single person.... to lie in bed, sit at computer or take the 2 steps from one wall to the other, so how is it that every night around the same time it sounds like a stampede of large animals is parading around up there?
Sounds include what sounds like moving of furniture (there is only a desk, chair, and small end table that can be moved in these rooms) and repeated dropping of stuff such as small things up to maybe people?
Uggh... 2 more weeks, just 2 more weeks here, unfortunately she is getting worse with noise, fortunately I dont go to work until 11pm tmmr.... hmm not much of a trade off though. Given the amount of space there s to the room she must be trying to be noisy.

FE 2012 first con attended
General | Posted 14 years agoWell yesterday pretty much was my last day at the con as I chose to come back early. Unfotunately I am moving to Edmonton within the next 2 weeks and need to get a few things dealt with before I leave. I am sorry to those of you who I will be leaving behind here in Ontario but never fear, I will be back in a few years to finish my training, maybe even take some time off and visit when I can.
I must say thanks a ton to Phreddy Fox for getting me in to the furry fandom.
