No, not really moving somewhere new. This account is though!!!

Yeah, I figured, in order to reduce effort and make friends faster, why not create my furry name on FA? So, for everyone's sake and to remember shit for the future, I plan on moving everything from this account, to the next one. Many old pictures will not follow, but most of the top favorite pictures will go to my new account,  lakotalutrova or Lakota H. Lutrova!! Do watch that account, but don't unfollow me in order to clean up your list. This will be a photography account now for own personal use and to practice using an old Canon EOS Rebel 35mm film camera and upgrade to a new D-SLR (Canon 60D or Rebel T3i in the future!).

So, since I have the room and everything secured and to help reduce the amount required on the room, I have decided to open up up to three (two preferred) in order to reduce payment on the rooms for everyone. Here's the scoop:

When do we have the room
Check-in starts at 3:00pm August 10 and we check out of our room on August 13 before noon.

Why the extra day? Isn't the last day of the con the 12th?
Yes, technically, it is the last day. It's also considered "Dead Dog" as well, meaning that the locals stay and the people out of state usually leave on the 12th. I got the room one day extra so that anyone staying from out of state wants to stay for the entire con, they have the option to.

Is there a deposit required?
Yes. I will be poking those that already have the room to send a deposit of $25 to secure their spots in the room. This is to ensure that space is secured, those that need it ARE going, and they won't get taken off the list. It's a small price to pay, but there is a plus and a minus to this. The deposit does go towards the payment of the room, so don't stress about it being extra.

Is the deposit refundable?
Yes. It is refundable if I am given notification at least 2 weeks before the day of the convention in order to find a replacement. If you contact me anytime later than 2 weeks before, then I reserve the right to withhold your deposit and refuse to refund you. You have been warned now.

Can I bail at the last minute?
If you do, I will take your deposit. Financially, it will be detrimental to everyone in the room and they will have to pay more. This is just to ensure that they aren't completely screwed over. End of story.

If I have a fursuit, am I allowed to store it?
Of course! Myself and  sergenightfire will be rooming and we will have fursuits. I will try my best to get enough fans for everyone that is suiting so they can dry their fursuits off!

Is smoking allowed?
By Colorado State Law, it is not permitted. Regardless, I refuse to let anyone smoke inside the room. This also includes marijuana of any type. E-cigarettes are allowed since they only emit a vapor and not smoke. Hookah will also not be allowed to ensure there isn't any problem with housekeeping or the hotel staff. Sorry guys, I love hookah, but I don't wanna get kicked out.

Can I bring alcohol?
Yes, but if you let underage people drink, I will not be held responsible for the consequences. Keep it legal people and don't drink till you puke, otherwise you sleep outside in the hallway or in another room.

Who is staying currently?
Right now, I have 4 people listed and I would like to get at least 2 more in the room as well to lower payments. I will be collecting deposits soon to lock in people's space, so be prepared to pay the deposit! I will need full payment at least 1 week before the convention so I can get everything together and ready for the hotel!

I found out via Nighteyes that there are already two other panels that cover fursuiting, thus mine would be too redundant. Idea scrapped.

So, after getting hints from a few friends that at the upcoming RMFC, there aren't enough panels! I was interested, but didn't know exactly what kind of panel to do, but every beginning fursuiters panel I've been too have been only about one subject or the other. Either it's about "How to Perform" or "Fursuiting on a Budget" or even "Fursuiting 101." There hasn't been a panel where it combines the two for people that want to know everything about fursuiting, but don't want to attend two separate panels throughout the weekend.

What it will consist:
-A 1 hour (potentially, after I submit the panel to RMFC staff) discussion panel
--Breakdown: 30 minutes about fursuit building, 30 about performing and the generalized "guidelines" on how to behave around suiters
-First half:
-Finding the best materials for fursuit building (assuming those attending want good quality, not best price!)
-How to design a character for building it
-Generalized tips and tricks of the trade
-Second Half:
-A portion talking about personal stories where we have been in either a dangerous, awkward, or even uncomfortable situation around either other furs, or the general public and how we dealt with it.
-Give tips to those who have suits on how to approach uncomfortable or even dangerous situations.
-Talk to those without a fursuit on how to "behave" or interact with other fursuiters (i.e. tail pulling, hugging, approaching, etc.)

What I need:
-I will act as the main host, but due to lack of experience on building a fursuit, I can give beginner tips on building a "first-time fursuit." I need 2 people either professional or semi-professional (preferrably one of each) to help with the first portion of the panel and answer fursuit-building specific questions.
-I will also need two performers for the second half. I would love for those to be in suit so everyone can tell the difference, and to also add appeal for the audience. I would like to have these suiters to be willing to either speak while in suit, or take off their head to speak (briefly, of course). I can explain the points you make, but if I need you to elaborate, be prepared to speak it out. I will request a mic for the event, but there's no guarantee on that.

Keep in mind:
-I will NOT be discussing business ethics or suggestions on how to start a fursuit-building business. This is for generalized information for people wanting to build, or do build, but want some pointers on how to improve on their technique.
-There will be a Q & A section at the end of course, so be prepared to answer questions. You do reserve the right to refuse to answer a specific question, but do be courteous about your approach you go with.

Yup! I was chatting with my friend Loomy and apparently, there's open panel space for RMFC 2012! I was asked to possibly do a panel, but I don't know what the topic would be, or what to do for it. I don't even have any ideas. There's First Time Fursuit Building 101, but I'm sure someone already has that, or will be done soon (plus, i'm no professional, so I'm not the best public speaker), or even a species panel (those aren't popular).

So, ideas! I need them so I can submit to the runners of RMFC 2012 and see exactly what can be done! If anyone wants to join me in the creation of a panel, then I'm open to it! Just let me know what your idea is!!

Yeah, my mother has a huge possibility to get a job out in Maryland at a hospital as the CNO (Chief Nursing Operator) and has access to the University of Maryland. This basically means a free ride for her and her immediate family. This means I get a free ride and they even have a Meteorology degree that I can obtain.

Yeah, that sounds awesome...but according to my parents, I'd have 4 months to either get everything together before they move or go with them and say my goodbyes.

For someone like me, I'm always looking at both sides of an arguement. Sure, I'd get a free education and really get my career back up and running, but is it worth it for an extra 2-3 years of school and also, is it worth departing from all my friends and even my closest friends that I've made over the 15 years I've lived in Colorado, just to give it up for a free education? Let alone I'd actually be moving there with my parents if I do go through those years I go to college.

Sure, move back after I'm done. Times change to quickly and I've been having too much fun with my friends to just, give it up. I'm just now discovering who I am on the inside and developing myself as a furry in colorado and a friend to others, I believe to me, it's best if I stay behind and live my life how I want it. This is my chance to get everything ready and prepare to be away from my parents from a long distance. A chance to get my life started the right way.

So, I thought that I should start expressing my thoughts about many subjects, rather than keep them bottled up and tell one person at a time. I'm very expressive and I love speaking my mind and telling information to other people. One of my greater points is writing. I'm a good writer and I've been told that at home, school, and in various writing competitions, but I've never pursued it.

Without further ado, the first issue of "In the mind of Lakota"

Topic: Furry Meets

Warning: This content will have choice words and is more suited to an adult audience. I do not take the blame if you are offended by what I say about certain subjects. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I appreciate constructive criticism, but if you babble on about how I'm wrong and blah blah blah, you will get a smack to the head.

Furry meets, I consider them a hit or miss opportunity, more miss now these days. The original intent of furry meets is for other furries in the area to meet up and make friends. It's more of "meet up" rather than make friends now it seems. I swear, high school follows us and engraves us to become isolated people where if someone were to say hi and try and be friendly, we give weird looks like they just grew a third eyeball and play the cold shoulder game.

As a social person who is making friends slowly and has been subjected to being alone for more than half his life with little to no friends, I'm naturally picking up on being a social butterfly. I feel like I'm meeting new people everyday and I'm always wanting to find another person to add to my "I'll hang out with him today, you tomorrow" list. It's nice, because it adds diversity to an otherwise boring life of work, school, sleep schedule. Gotta have fun in life, right? What I don't get is why people go to these events where you're supposed to make friends and stuff and then turn around and group yourself and not talk to anyone else? You're stepping backwards!!

Here's how I see meets. There are 4 different types of meets and each one has a varying degree of success.
Firstly, the bi-monthly meet: Foxtrot is a perfect example and is a very successful meet. It takes place every other month to add something to look forward to after the first boring month and allows many people to schedule their way so that they can make it. It's huge and it keeps getting bigger every time! It's full of fun people and I've made more friends at that event than any other event.
Next up, the monthly meet: This meet takes place once a month and it's a 25/75 shot of either being empty (25%) or jam packed (75%). The same people usually meet up at this event every time since it can be changed way ahead of time and it's still a lot of fun! You get to meet the people that you want to meet, not random people every time. The new people quickly become buddies and soon become friendships afterwards.
Third, the bi-weekly meet: This is a definite hit or miss. 50/50 chance of being busy or not. You get many regulars, but that soon goes down since it's more repetitive every time, but those who can make it are somewhat cool people. These are usually the meets geared more towards the older crowd, offering alcohol and something that the older crowd wants.
Lastly, the weekly meets: the ones destined to be the 75/25 chance, being 75% empty a lot and 25% busy. These always get packed at least a few weeks after a convention, and this is due to people feeling PCD (Post-Con Depression) and need to fondle a few more groins to get their satisfaction (kidding, for all you serious silly people out there).

Why did I just recap a lot of the meets here in Colorado? Well, there's good reason. I've had more bad experiences at these weekly meets than with the other ones. For instance, there's a meet that takes place out East by the airport every week. I went there just to have some fun and to see a friend of mine as well. I took my fursuit to just be silly and I put it on. Sure enough, one fur got the idea that I was comfortable with being humped every minute and made it clear to do so. I knew they were drunk, but I am to a point where I don't plan on going back to that particular meet as well. Don't even get me started on what happens after a certain time...*shivers*

Anyway, if you really want my honest opinion, meets aren't always bad. Not good, but not bad either. You're either in a hit or miss scenario where you either make the best friends of your life or you get a clingy person who just wants you for your fursuit. If you want a little survival guide to these meets, then here's mine.

1. Don't go with a fursuit, unless you know others will be present.
-This one is key, as you never want to go alone. It's like hiking in the woods. Have a buddy with you, so they can whack the bear that's gnawing at your leg with a stick and scream at them to go away.
2. Unless it's a huge party, bring your own friends.
-Again, bring a buddy or two. Going at it alone is like going into a gunfight with a slingshot, expecting to get a shot in. There will be groups of people that just don't want to associate and add new people into their group.
3. Expect a younger crowd.
-If you go to a meet, try to make it to the ones that only have 18+ or better yet, 21+ (if you're old enough). I don't like to hang around anyone younger than 18, because I can't relate to the newest generation AT ALL. It's like trying to get me to listen to Justin Beiber music while I'm listening to Led Zepplin in my car and I'm the one driving!

I don't hate meets, but it seems like everything is going south with them and the newer ones that pop up, they seem to die out because nobody likes change or doesn't care much for the newer meets. I'm not saying "don't go, you won't survive" I'm just saying to watch out and be cautious with where you go.

Alright, so I saw that  sirod did this type of deal and now I wanna see what kind of questions I get!

If Lakota was me (which, he technically is, but I'll play along), what would you want to ask him, sexual and non-sexually? I'll answer honestly!

I do reserve the right to not answer certain questions if they are out of bounds, and I'll let you know. Do keep in mind Lakota is basically me, so don't get too dirty with the questions, but he'll answer them honestly!

So, three things I want to address and hopefully plan out, except for the first thing.

1) I am gonna laugh when the admins suspend all the people who are trying to fight the admins about removing suggestive pictures of their fursuits. Now, I do believe that they overstepped boundaries with the harnesses and collars. I know people like Howee have a collar on their fursuit as a prop, not sexual. The admins need to be more specific about the AUP and addressing that issue before assuming to generalize the subject.

2) I'm thinking of hosting a furry golf tournament, but I have NO idea how many colorado furs actually play it (I'll assume none that I know, or I might be wrong!). I love playing golf and I think playing with a good group of friends would be hilarious shenanigans to raid a golf course and be silly for a day as well, but also to have a relaxing day as well with the beautiful weather we've been having! Any colorado furs who actually play golf (don't have to be amazing, I suck, but I still play it). If nobody does, I'll reconsider and think about doing a mini golf fursuiting event at the Hyland Hills Adventure Golf. I hate Hyland Hills (worked with them for 4 years...waste of time and management!)

3) A FURRY BBQ EVENT!

Yup! I've been thinking that this NEEDS to happen and it needs to be huge!! Colorado Furries are known to have awesome parties, even though they are not too common and there are too few, BUT we are known to be party animals!! Foxtrot is one example and RMFC is getting bigger every year (already broke 200 pre-registrations this year back 2 months ago)! So, to celebrate the end of another stressful school year/graduations/any summer birthday parties/just being fucking awesome people, I am going to plan out a huge BBQ event and see if we can get something going! It's in the mind, but it'll be down and official sometime soon!

So, this was brought up at the meet that I went to last night. I was wearing my collar that I got a few months ago and someone looked at the tag I have (just a simple dog tag with my name on one side and blank on the other in the shape of a blue dog bone) and he commented "Hey, what's with the blank side?" This is where the romantic in me comes out and I got honest and told him that it's blank, because I have no mate, thus the blank side representing them. It will have the name of the person that I fall in love with and claim as my partner and they will be engraved on the other side. This will represent that special person that is close to me and will remain so and also has my back in everything.

I got a lot of awes and one person said "Love isn't dead yet apparently." This made me question as to what love is seen as now-a-days. Love, to me, was always you feeling very comfortable around someone and seeing them as not only your best friend, but someone you can say "I love you" and express a level of emotion and care that entails you being more than just friends. Love is complicated and everyone knows that.

To my watchers and viewers, how can you describe love and what is it to you? Do you personally think it is dead yet or is it just a lost art and hopeless now?

So, I'm still alive! Things have been super busy for me in terms of work, but otherwise, I'm stable! Happy Easter to you guys by the way!! So, I haven't even started working on my fursuit again due to being so busy and gas getting so expensive, I haven't made it down to the fabric store to get the Lycra I need to make a balaclava. I am also trying to get some clippers and black fur from one friend and 5 yards of white fur from another friend. I'm saving a lot of money getting this fur from another source rather than Distinctivefabric.com so I'm happy about that!

Foxtrot was just...awesome again. Lots of non-furs actually showed up and got a lot of pictures with the suiters, but a good group of them were...awkward to say the least. Nonetheless, it was awesome and Howee was even there!

Hey guys! Been working my ass off, so a lot of things have been at a stand-still for now. Here's some new things that have happened or will be happening!

For starters, my updated fursuit head. I haven't made any progress on it. Work has been so stressful and taking up so much of my time, I don't have a real day to go and grab the materials that I really need. Plus, my paychecks haven't been stable either, so I have that to deal with. I'll keep you guys posted as to when it starts.

On another note, I got invited to my first major public fursuiting event!  taofox invited me to go with him and a few other furs to an art walk and go fursuiting down in Denver! I'm really excited, so maybe expect pictures to get posted or something, you never know! I'll be going to it Friday, April 6th!

Foxtrot is coming up as well! It's on Saturday, April 7th and it's going to be AWESOME! Any Colofurs better show up and come have some fun with me and everyone else!

So, this question has been brought up once before, but I wanted to see what you guys wanted to say about it.

The Question:
What does fursuiting mean to you? Do you own one just because others have one? What does it mean to you to own your fursuit of your 'sona (if applicable) and do you get into another mental state when you wear it (some people say they change into something else, some people don't)?

My Thoughts:
Fursuiting, to me, is a form of expression that entails a lot of different aspects. It's a form of acting, in that you wear something and act out something else entirely. I made mine personally, because for one major point that I didn't want to spend 1k on a fursuit that can be made with my own bare hand. I also made my fursona, so that I can be able to say to others that he exists and comes out every once in a while. My fursona is playful and shy and having my fursuit allows me to tap into those emotions and be expressive of who he is. Since he is a depiction of who I am in real life, I try to project myself through the character and when you go to hug him or say hi to him, that's me as a person.

I appreciate and applaud those who take on an entirely different personality. It takes a lot to mentally switch while in a costume. I see the person's fursuit as not just something else entirely, but as the projection of themselves. The one's who don't interact with other people and just stand there to get pictures since their suit was made by someone like Scribbles or MadeFurYou (not hating, just enhancing a point), I will refuse to interact with them and try to have fun. They are the people that I see that got the suit to try and get popular. With people like me who will run around first day and use props (i.e. My Squeaky Steak Chew Toy) to entice other furs to look the other way and put a smile on other people, that's who I'll chat with. You depict yourself as a fun individual and thus, I would love to talk to. It's sad though, because some of those people get so wrapped up in the con-goings that I say hi once in the headless lounge and poof, I don't see them again.

I try hard to interact with others and play around and it's very easy in a fursuit for me to do so, because people look at you all the time. I've also noticed that fursuits that are puppy-ish or even toon-ish will get noticed moreso than the realistic fursuits.

One last thing, I've also noticed, for someone like me, that it's a little harder each time to fursuit. Like, to mentally prepare myself to fursuit is more of a challenge more-so now than ever before. For instance, I'll want to suit up and play around, but then I don't either because of not enough people, no motivation to, or just plain tired.

So, I've finally gotten over an illness that has affected a lot of stuff for the past 2 weeks. I was originally diagnosed with Acute Upper Respiratory Infection at the Boulder Community Hospital Urgent Care Center in Lafayette, CO, but the doctor treated me very unfairly and did a general diagnosis. I went in to see my primary care doctor and did some tests and found out that I had Strep, which was unusual, because I didn't have any of the symptoms, but my tonsils were swollen and stuffs, so yeah. I'm on penicillin for a while, but thankfully I got rid of my other symptoms and now I'm allowed to go back to work thankfully, so I'm glad for that. I need the money to hopefully get a new apartment with  Sergenightfire and see where things go from there.

I plan on getting a GoPro or something after my next paycheck, as I get a nice fat discount off the HD Hero 2 Outdoor Edition. We'll see what I get on my paycheck and how everything looks after this hellish week goes through with no money. In other good news, I obtained a fursuit head concept art piece thanks to  sirod through a previous commission I paid for a while ago. I changed it to a fursuit head reference so I could have something to go with and see what I wanted to have. I won't be posting it publicly on purpose till I finish it and she colors it up.

In terms of a possible character re-design, I've always had a feeling that my character needed a re-vamp just to give him a more unique look. Sure, he's got the tribal tattoos and that scar on his left eye, but that's it. There's nothing else giving him a unique look, but I don't know what to do for a new design. He'll stay white, but I wanna mostly focus around maybe new markings around his face, not really sure. Any ideas are appreciated!
