I'm against upfront payment, because I'm Captain Slowpoke.
BUT I'm in emergency situation : I really-really want to visit my BF on holidays, but I'm completely out of money.
That's why I have to open commissions with UPFRONT payment. 5-7 slots, prepay on paypal, will be finished in may-june.
Standard conditions : 1 character 40 $, every additional character +30 $, don't forget about PayPal transaction fine. For very complex characters small additional price (around 10 $).

I want to ask for your opinion about full prepaymen to an artist?
Do You like / dislike / try to avoid it? What's the maximum sum that You're ready to pay as a prepayment?
For example, if I would be an ordering customer: I don't really like to pay full price in advance.
-First of all, I sorta feel like I'm losing money, paying it for nothing. And then, if anything goes wrong, it's hard to return these money.
-Second thing: sometimes I don't get WIPs and stages in art's progress. I only get the final result, and that's irritating. In most cases, I don't get what I wanted and what I paid for. Wrong character's design, pose or anything. And most of the artists correct these mistakes unwillingly.
-Third thing is: when artists get their money, they're not longer motivated, and can delay the completion of an artwork for a long time, or not complete it at all. But at the end of the day, I trust people and never refuse to pre-pay.
As an artist, I don't really like to work with a pre-payment, if it's not an emergency case.
-First of all, I have lots of stuff to do apart from drawing, and sometimes I delay the completion just because I don't have enough time.
-Second (as a result of a first reason) , is that I feel ashamed and embarassed for these delays. And if people have already paid their money, what do I do? I can't just ditch them! DISGRACE!
-Third: a commissioner can even refuse work or disappear. In that case, it's easier for me to paint this artwork for myself, rather than deal with money's return.

I cant imagine how someone can draw on them. Small screen, overexposed parts, color reproduction through the ass. I was so infuriates! I want to draw, but I can not! I'm ready to kill someone. Honestly, honestly!

About commissions.
General | Posted 13 years agoPlease, don't PM me, asking me about commissions' status. Your messages overflow my inbox, and I can't see the other important notes, and I have to delete your messages instead of reading them.
All the commissions are closed now, and I will open them in a couple of weeks or so. I will also update commission information both in the gallery and in the journal. It's useless to ask me about commissions now.
