B-day!
General | Posted 17 years agoWell first off I just wanted to apologies for my absence lately. I have been full out busy with school and work. I am nearly done this semester, then I will hopefully have more time for art, commissioners I haven't forgot about you!
In other news, I'm turning 20 tomorrow! ^^
I am pretty excited, I'm having a big bonfire party on friday and so far have invited 40-50 people. I expect about 20-25 to show up, but we'll see. :3
It's gonna be weird to be two decades old o.0

ohmeegawd!
General | Posted 18 years agowell most of my new computer arrived today. I decided to build my own, I am currently waiting for the motherboard and then I can put it all together, in the mean time I hooked up my new 20" widescreen LCD screen to my laptop so I can do the dual screen thing(which is fucking sick!) and realized something terrible.
My art all looks like garbage! Holy crap the colours are way way way way way to bright, ugh
I am not impressed. So tell me is it just me or is some of my more colourful art tooo colourful?
for example: http://brushfire.deviantart.com/art.....arsha-79851293
this picture looks like a naturally coloured bay on my laptop screen such as this picture:http://tidesend.deviantart.com/art/Horse-Power-40701095
(and that picture looks pretty gray on my laptop screen)
but when I view it on my new screen it looks terrible.
I am embarrassed to say the least, my artwork should start looking better now. I suppose I should have been suspicious when white and cream appeared to be the same colour on my laptop screen...

new computer(need some help)
General | Posted 18 years agoHey guys, before I get into the computer thing, I just wanted to let everyone know that I got a job. I am now a driver for the Victoria Carriage Tours, meaning I drive a horse drawn carriage downtown :3
It's an amazing job, I love it, the horses are some of the happiest, most honest horses I have ever met. having worked at a lot of trail riding places I am used to dude horses, but these guys have never had an inexperienced rider jerking on them, so they are just fantastic. <3
Plus they are all *huge* percherons, shires and clydesdales. :)
Anyway, I am just letting everyone knows so they understand when I appear to disappear for a couple days. Between school, work, my horses, and my social life my computer time is going to be hardcore reduced, which is prolly a good thing ;p
So commissioners and potential commissioners please be patient! I've got a lot on my plate.
Anyway, onto the computer issue. I am planning to buy myself a nice desktop PC. I am currently doing all my art, gaming and homework on a Toshiba satellite, which is a nice enough computer, but just not powerful enough for what I need. I have been looking around, I don't want to spent more then 1000$ cnd total for a god quality LCD screen, graphics card and computer. It would be fantastic if I could find a computer with a decent graphics card already in it, but I don't think that is too likely.
I definitely want a computer with at least 2gb of ramm(expandable to at least 4), a 2.5 GHz or more processor and 300 or more gb of hard drive space.
Anyway would you guys be able to recommend some brands or models of graphics cards, LCD screen and desktop PCs that would fit my budget and work for what I need it for, which is art(obviously) mostly in photoshop, step mania(DDR game) and other games.
So far I have figured by best bet for a good brand is HP, I have heard a lot of good about there desktops, is that bullshit??
thanks!

Prints anyone?
General | Posted 18 years agoHeya, I've been thinking about selling prints again.
I have an Laser printer, so the prints would be good quality. I am not sure what type of paper I would print on, I am still looking into that, any suggestions are welcome. So far I was thinking about printing on colour laser paper.
tentatively I think I would charge 6$ per print, and 5$ for shipping in north america (we would have to discuss the price for shipping to other parts of the world). So if you bought one print it would be 11$, if you bought two at the same time it would be 17$, then 23$ for three etc.
I will be offering prints on all the artwork in my gallery.
So send me a note or comment here if you are interested. :)

Free Doodle for comments...
General | Posted 18 years agoFirst comment with a reference picture that is. Possible more then one if I feel ambitious.
I saw someone else do this a minute ago, and figured it would be a great way to kill my current boredom.
actually keep posting refs, I'll draw 'em if I get the urge. :)
well I gotta go to bed, but keep posting refs, I may feel like doodling tomorrow :3

Yet another poor student cries for handouts!
General | Posted 18 years agoAlright, well it's getting to that time of year, as of next week I will be finished with exams and will be out looking for a job.
Which is something I really don't want to have to do, because then I will have to work all break and not get to have any fun. I want to get a part time job, but we'll see. Anyway, I am nearly finished the last of my last batch of commissions and was curious if anyone was interested in commissioning me.
Here is all the info:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/148101/
I will do artistic nudes and sexual-ish pictures(kissing, making out, pin-ups) but I don't want to do full out porn. Depending on the interest level I *may* do a couple yiffy pieces, but will not display them in my gallery, but I am still debating on that, and I would charge extra for those.
I've also been doing a lot of other types of art besides anthro, such as realistic animals:http://brushfire.deviantart.com/gallery/#Realistic
The odd human:http://brushfire.deviantart.com/gallery/#Humans
And cartoony animals:http://brushfire.deviantart.com/gallery/#Other-
and obviously horses:http://brushfire.deviantart.com/gallery/#Cartoon-Equines
Also, I have a lot of sketches on my LJ so you can get a feel for the other stuff I draw:http://brushfyre.livejournal.com/
I am also selling prints of anything in my gallery, note me if you're interested, I was thinking 10$ per print(to offset the cost of shipping) but if you order 2 or more only 5$ for every print besides the first. So 2 prints would be 15$ even for shipping and everything.
Also if someone wants a commission done before Christmas for a present or anything note me and I will see if I can do it. If I say I will get it done before Christmas I will, unless you vanish off the internet and I am unable to contact you to approve sketches and that. >.>
So if you know anyone on you're Christmas list that might enjoy some *clean* Brushfire art, give me a shout, I could use the money! ;p
By the way, I just wanted to thank everyone in their support in my last entry. *universal mule hugs* ^^
Until next time

A new level of fame
General | Posted 18 years agoWow, I think I may have reached a new level of fame. I am now worthy of spammers. Fantastic. :D
I would like to take a moment to introduce the person that thinks I am famous enough to be worthy of spammage:
BrushfireStrokesDogCockForAIDS
I am sure you will all give him a warm welcome to the community.
(oh and BTW BrushfireStrokesDogCockForAIDS it's not dog cock is horse penis, at least get it right if your gonna spam ;p)

General | Posted 18 years agoHeya, I'm sure a couple of you been wondering where I have been lately. Well I am still around, nearly healed from my accident, been walking for a couple weeks now and am planning to go riding tomorrow, but that's not why I have been so quiet around here.
Truth is I am busy as hell with school, I have been doodling in class in my sketch books, but I haven't had time to actually finish anything because any time at home is usually trying to train my horse(the one that hurt me) and doing my homework. Any time I get to work on artwork at home is always put towards commissions, so commissioners please be patience, I know I'm going slow, but I'm not running off with your money, promise!
As for everyone else when I get time I'll be sure to post some of my doodles, but I expect the only finished artwork you're gonna see for a while will be commissions.
The program I am taking is environmental technology which is pretty much a shitload of biology, geography and some chemistry and math on the side, not art like a lot of people seem to think. So you won't be seeing any of my school work online unless your interested by protist lifecycles >.>

Get my shit together
General | Posted 18 years agoAlright, well you may notice the footer at the bottom of this journal and all my journals now. I updated it today, got everything organized.
I am trying to keep better track of my commissions, since I used to lose track all the time.
So it anyone sees something they don`t like. Such as you want to get added or removed from the waiting list, just send me a note, and it shall be done.
I wanna keep to working on three commissions at a time. so when I finish one of the three I am working on right now I will accept the next person down on the list.
I know some people mentioned being interested in a commission but not at the moment. if I reach your name and your not interested at the moment, not worries. this is mostly here so I don`t completely forget about you, because as much as I try. I am a rather forgetful mule. >.>
Anyway, starting school on the 5th. very excited. I think I may get to go on crutches too instead of a wheelchair. :)
I would feel like such a dork going to my first year of college in a wheelchair.
oh well, I can`t really blame anyone but myself.
I should be walking in 3-4 weeks though. :)
*excited bounce*

nearly 1000 watchers!
General | Posted 18 years agoHoly crap, I just checked my page today, I couldn't believe I have nearly 1000 watchers. I know it isn't much compared to some, but wow, more then I ever thought I'd have. thanks guys.
As for an update on my condition. I am back home again, but stuck in a wheel chair, that means I spend most of my day in front of my computer. So expect more art on the way.
it sucks not being able to walk >.>
I have a feeling this may be the longest three months of my life.

Well, I've landed myself in the hospital again...
General | Posted 18 years agoyes, yes I did.
Much more serious this time around too. >.>
I was riding my 5 yr old paint mare Tango yesterday, who is still very very green under saddle and I was trying to make her go near a gate so I could teach her how to stand so I can open gates. But being the firey little mare she is instead of doing as I wanted she threw a tantrum and started bucking. So I pulled up her head to stop the bucking and she decided that if she couldn't buck, she'd rear, which she did.
Although this wasn't a normal rear, this was a straight up and down rear, the type where when a horse has a rider on their back they tend to fall over backwards, which she did, right onto me, in a western saddle...
Luckily my mom and dad were both out in the yard, so I started screaming, got their attention right away, and was in the ambulance 15 minutes later.
So after spending the better part of the day in emergency I found out that I did not have any internal injuries, but I do have a fractured pelvis, in two places on my left side.
Therefore I have to spend the next 5-10 days in the hospital, and god knows how long at home in bed. It's going to be at least 3 months until I can ride or do taekwondo again, and I'll be spending the first few weeks of colledge in a wheelchair.
Ah, aren't horses wonderful....
Anyway, the reason I am posting this here is to let everyone know that I am stuck in the hospital where my dad has set me up a dial-up connection on my laptop.
I doubt I'll be making much art for the next week or two, commissioners, please bear with me.
and everyone else please bear with my spelling mistakes, I am on pretty heavy pain killers at the moment, so not 100% here.

Commissions, or prints anyone?
General | Posted 18 years ago In less then a week I will be leaving the ranch I'm working at and heading home, and I'll be starting school in the beginning of September.
In the last month I have been lucky to get 1 day off a week. So when I get home I will not be working(taking the rest of the summer easy)
I have enough in my savings for my first two years of school(I am taking a 3 year program) and over the next two summers I am sure I will be able to save up enough for that last year.
Sounds good eh?
except that I don't have a dime to spend on anything else.
So, my plan is too buy a decent printer and start selling prints(which will hopefully at least pay off the printer) and I am fully open for commissions.
Since I will be home soon where I have a room to myself and a desk to work at I am now able to accept non-digital commissions. Also I am taking off the 5$ extra charge for adult commissions. Now adult and clean commissions will cost the same amount.
For information on my commissions, here is all my pricing:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/148101/
As for prints, I am just wondering how many of you would be interested in prints of some of my work in my gallery. I would probably charge about 10$ a print, and 2$ to cover mailing in US and Canada(there for if you bought two prints it would be 22$USD)
I haven't sold prints before, so I don't know if that is under-priced or over priced.
Feel free to point me to an artist of similar skill level that is selling prints, so I can compare to their prices.
The prints would be on photo paper so they should be pretty good quality.
Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a good printer, and about the cost of it?
Also if I have any outstanding commissions that have been paid for please note me. As far as I know I do not have any.
Thanks guys

Badge, Icon and digital commissions
General | Posted 18 years ago Well, I've decided to try my hand at icon commissions, and example of one is the one as my current avatar(if it hasn't changed, just refresh the page to see my new one)
I'll be more then happy to throw one of those puppies together for 10$, when you get one you'll get a 200x200 pixel version and a 100x100 version, which should be good for just about everywhere.
I'm also doing badges, but sadly I am not offering printing and laminating at the moment. so I would just email you a print sized version.
For that I'd charge 13-17$(depending on detail)
Here are some previews badges I have done:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/525138/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/525146/
I'm also doing digital commissions, both line art commissions and full colour digital commissions.
For a one character lineart commission I'd charge 25$, and 10$ per additional character. for a detailed background, add another 15$
Here is an example of a lineart picture:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/599955/
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/538805/
For full colour digital commissions they are 40$ for one character simple background. 15$ per additional character, and 25$ for a detailed background.
Here is an example of a 2 character, detailed background picture(80$):
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/589546/
Here is a one character simple background picture(40$):
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/564969/
I am also open for traditional commissions.
I will do ink and pencil sketches, such as this:
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/754325/
for 30$
additional characters will cost 10$ and detailed backgrounds are available for 20$ extra.
As for other traditional works such as:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/747593/
and
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/494113/
I will have to quote you on price and they will be more expensive then digital. Partly because they take longer and partly because of cost of supplies.
All original commissioned work is available for sale; such as sketches from digital work, or fully traditional works.
Should the commissioner be interested in their sketch I charge 5$ for a shipping fee in North America. For other countries we would have to talk, as it can be quite expensive.
If the commissioner is not interest in their sketch. I would charge 10-15$ depending on quality. For traditional commissions it will vary more.
All prices are in CND and I prefer paypal over anything else, although I will accept cash and cheques in the mail at your own risk.
Because of trouble in the past I will start work on commission as soon as payment is received.
These prices are subject to change. Obviously once we have agreed on a price it will not change but up until that point it may.
I think that is about all, any questions feel free to note me or comment here and I`ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Much love

10. Yes, artists deserve the "ridiculous" prices they charge. Consider the fact that your average pic takes about four hours from sketch to final coloring: if you pay $40 that's $10 an hour. So no, $10 is not an appropriate price for a full-color, full length drawing.
9. Just because they draw pr0n doesn't mean they'll draw your pr0n.
8. Bitching at an artist every hour until they do your commission is not a good way to motivate them.
7. Just because she's submissive doesn't mean she wants to submit to you. Just because she's domme doesn't mean she wants you as a pet.
6. It's okay to live and let live. The fact that they don't share your interest doesn't make them a bad person. Pushing your interests on them makes you a jerk.
5. Chatting with someone for five minutes does not mean they love you, nor does it make them your friend, your mate, your buddy, nor even a casual acquaintance.
4. Believing you're actually a dragon in a human body is fine. Thinking this makes you so much better than everyone else out there makes you a narcissistic jerk.
3. It's spelled HUMAN. H-U-M-A-N. If you use "Hyoomon" in serious conversation, you are either a Ferengi or a moron.
2. Buying a commission from an artist does not entitle you to cybor or picz. Buying a book from Barnes and Nobel doesn't entitle you to a free bj from the author.
1. When in doubt, remember Winston Churchill: "A fanatic is someone who can't change his mind and won't change the subject."

'In the bar' Mini Contest
General | Posted 18 years agoWell, I got a winner, so the little mini contest is over. I have been thinking about having a proper contest with like nice digital art for prizes seeing as commissions are going pretty slow right now.
If I do do a contest I would try to do something a little different then just "dRaW m1 cH4rac7eR lolzorz!1" but I haven't figured out what yet, I'd also like to have something more creative then art from prizes, but I'm just not that creative. >.>
Anyway, yah, any input would be great.
Much love

FAP
General | Posted 18 years agowell I joined a new website I just found about about today. This really isn't shocking news I join a lot of furry websites in the hopes of getting more attention(yep, I'm an attention whore) anyway this one looks pretty sweet, pretty much copy of FA, it's just gonna be another gallery for me. So if for whatever reason you feel compelled to watch me on two very similar sites; god knows why; here's the link:
http://www.furryartpile.com/user/brushfire/
If you know anything scary about this site I should know about, or if you have any other good sites I can wonder over two, give me a shout, I am perpetually bored out here and always looking for ways to kill 15 minutes. I'd love to find a good furry oekaki that allows adult artwork, no luck their so far. :(

Open for Commissions
General | Posted 18 years ago Well, I've found I've again run out of inspiration, so I'll open up for commissions.
I will only take on one at a time however, that way I won't go nuts. The commissions will be 100% digital, because living where I am working on commissions on paper is difficult, especially if they are adult artwork.
I am offering full colored pictures, they will start at 30$ and the price will go up depending on detail and difficulty. although if you would just like a sketch or something else(badge, icon) it will obviously not be as much and we can discuss that.
The way it works is you send me your idea, and I will quote you a price. This time around I require payment before I start work because I have had some difficulty in the past with people not paying, or taking forever too pay, and I don't like to start something and have to wait to finish it.
I prefer paypal over anything else, because of where I am getting mail is rather difficult and takes quite a long time.
Depending on difficulty it may take me a while, I will try to get my commissions done as quickly and as high quality as possible, but you never know what kind of loops life with throw at you. Please be patient with me.
If I happen to disappear for a couple days from the online world it is because I have lost my internet(which happens occasionally out here) and I will still be working on your picture.
Here is a couple examples of a basic 30$ commission:

If you've got an questions, you can comment here, or send me a PM. I will reply as soon as I can.

General | Posted 18 years agoThanks to everyone who sent me suggestions, some of em sound interesting, so I may illustrate em. Please don't send anymore, I've got lots to sift through :)
Give me inspiration, now
General | Posted 18 years agoI feel like drawing but I can't come up with anything. So give me your ideas, characters, whatever. If I like 'em I'll draw 'em. I don't promise anything, but I may come up with something.
Oh yah, and give me your ideas in this journal entry only, if I have people starting to add me to msn, or pm me asking for free art I'm gonna be one pissed of mule. I don't do free art for people that go 'Can you draw me? please? oh why not!'
This is a one time thing.
Anyway, back to the fun. Give me things so draw. I'm can't come up with poses or anything either, so don't just give me your character, give me some ideas as well. Well I suppose you could just give me your character, but I probably won't draw 'em :P

Originals for sale
General | Posted 19 years agoAlright, cleaning my room today I found 3 large envelopes, which means ones thing. I need to get rid of them. And what better way then to throw some of my originals in them and sell 'em.
So, anyone interested in any of my originals, send me a note, or leave a comment here, we can discuss price. If more then one person is interested in one of my originals, then we'll figure something out.
Take a flip through my gallery, I keep all of my originals, so pretty much anything there is up for grabs.

General | Posted 19 years agoSorry I've been so terrible about replying to comments, I just can't keep up. I still read every one and I really appreciate them. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that watches, favs and comments on my stuff, really makes it worth to post. ^^
I've ordered my new tablet, should be here in the next couple days, thanks to those who've commissioned me so far. I'm still open for sketch commissions for now, but probably not much longer. >.>
Anyway, this entry was mainly just to thank everyone that watches :)
Oh, and before I forget, would anyone be interested in the originals of some of my latest pictures? they are inked and shaded with pencil on 9x12 sketching paper, I'm debating whether to put them on furbid.
