I’ve really enjoyed this last couple years getting into new comics, mangas and webcomics, new animes and shows, new movies games music fandoms books n more..

Anyone have any fun reading or comic/webcomic/manga recs? Reading comics has increasingly become my favorite activity after drawing. I want to read all the comics!


Here’s my list of top favs and recommendations, non-exhaustive and not particularly in any order:

This one is gonna become a xenofiction staple, it’s got so much detail and speculative biology stuff and tons more. Runaway to the Stars, by Jay Eaton and starring centaur space alien Talita and co. Ongoing and newish but been developed for a long time and just so detailed, technical and funny too.

I just most recently binge read this one called Unsounded, that one is pretty incredible. Content warning for all sorts of cartoon graphic violence and terrible stuff!! Ongoing but huuuge backlog!!!! and almost wrapped up so I’ve heard!! Probably could go in the imaginary webcomic hall of fame i think. Going to have a sequel and I can’t wait, omg.

I also love What Happens Next by Max Graves, about true crime and internet infamy and making grave mistakes while being trans online. great storytelling and style. Ongoing, solid backlog.

I also read the manga dungeon meshi, recommend to everyone tbh it’s like a love letter to cooking and learning and monster biology, and is a finished manga series. Also read witch hat atelier, an ongoing magical schoolgirl drama, sort of. I do think it’s fun! Still getting into the worldbuilding yet. I’m sure it will get more intense. It’s very cozy ig. I liked dungeon meshi more lmfao. OH I read Trigun it’s INCREDIBLE I really really liked it!! (Btw I read most all the mangas sailing the seas x3 🏴‍☠️) chainsaw man has been fun to read. I can read new chapters for free on Shonen jump too… and I read and watched HxH for that matter, very amazing and still updating new chapters on sj. The anime is ofc legendary and deserves its spot in the top anime’s of all time imo and the manga as well. I watched wolf’s rain after not finishing it as a child, it made me bawl my eyes out like crazy for 3 days straight while I watched the last half of the show. Incredible story animation and soundtrack too. Still obsessed with it. I want to draw wolf’s rain art…. Read and watched inuyasha and ranma 1/2, both staples and I’m glad I finally read them bc I had wanted to for awhile. I’m sure I’m missing so many…. Oooh also genshiken and its sequels!! Zany manga and anime about being an otaku or a fujoshi in the 90s-00s/beyond in recent stuff and being in manga club and being a yaoi doujinshi artist lmfao. Hilarious and just off the wall. I deeply loved it for what it was. Highly recommend. The author did this unofficial spin off that is so sooo twisted too, lotta fans hated it but not me…. I get why but I love twisted stories hehe. controversial anime and manga bc if a trans character in it.

I loooove Egyptian mythology and this really gets into it, the author clearly knows A LOT about the subject!! Very good highly recommend. Ongoing

Finally read gunnerkrig court, whew now that’s a binge read. There’s A Lot. Ongoing but I think it’s close to some sort of ending potentially?

Oh I also played Stray that I really liked (play as a cat), and Disco Elysium which really got so much more into my brain than I was expecting and I grew to really love it a lot, and I’m currently playing through Okami, which tbh every furry or artist or wolf therian gamer should play lol, just an incredible game, big too with a lot to do, stray was a super short game but okami has tons to do! I’ve already done a lot in it and don’t feel like I’m getting tired even after dozens of logged hours. Not too hard on my hands either. I haven’t been able to play a lot of Zelda bc it’s just really bad on my hands nowadays but okami has been really fun to play and reminds me a lot of Zelda games!

Hey y’all! Hope everyone is having a great day, week, month year etc. today I have a book review for my lovely friend Lhexa, who wrote this book when she was just a little kiddo, working on it from ages 10-14. I sat down and read it and I gotta say I loved it. Here’s the link to it below:

“ So I have to be honest, I hadn’t read it yet, but I was very interested in reading it based on your other writings of the analytical or non fiction manner, and liked it to put it in my favs for later…. After getting your note I began reading… and let me just say: I am Hooked. It pulled me in and I couldn’t tear myself away! I found it to be extremely well written and the story paced well. I was reminded of Eragon, particularly the first book which is one of my most treasured memories of reading. I’ll note that i haven’t re-read Eragon since I was a teen, nor finished the series due to my adhd and personal stuff, etc, but the cadence, and way of introducing the story and characters and expanding upon it, first slowly then urgently as the story began was seriously wonderful. I loved it. I love the characters, their motives felt real and deep, the world building felt natural and cohesive; really incredible writing! I also enjoyed the different character viewpoints. None of the characters - sans Tolbert and Gabri - felt like villains, but complex multifaceted individuals with their own motives, passions, blind spots, and unique dispositions. Honestly it feels ready to to be printed!!! Most importantly I’m dying to read more. It’s really good, you have all my kudos and bravos”

Slightly unfortunately there will be no sequel but as a standalone book it filled me with interesting thoughts and ideas and I was deeply immersed in reading it. Definitely give it a shot!
