Pain In The Foot
Posted 5 days agoI don't know what I did, but I've been having chronic pain in my left foot. I went to urgent care last week, they took some x-rays and they said they said there was an anomaly with fatty tissue around it. They also found a bone spur on my heel. After a few days the pain settled, but then pain started forming on the side of my foot feeling like outside blew. I even bought some of these new magnetic inserts for my shoes, but it didn't change a thing. Then while at work I was already walking in pain, I felt something pop that made it so I couldn’t walk for more than a few steps. It turned into some of the worst pain that I have experienced, and it got to the point that I had to go to the ER. They took some more x-rays, took me off work for a few days but I’m not going to go into the BS attendance policy which I feel is unfair, but I see why they do it because you will have those that would be calling once or twice a week. Even with dealing with the Segswich crap it’s a gamble that you might get an agent that’s in a shitty mood and declines it, and then next thing you are without a job. I'm sure that if they did do that, and if someone has the paperwork, that could be one hell of a lawsuit. With Hydro they perscribed, and shots in the outer side of my left foot, the pain has calmed down. With the pain going from an eight to a four, at least I can walk better.
Crappy Video Games We Enjoyed Playing
Posted a week agoSpeedy is on my tail and I know it's either him or… wait which one is Speedy, they all look pretty much all look like Blinky, and I quite haven’t figured out the political message hidden in the game. It’s time to smoke up the RTX 5090, and play some Atari 2600 Pac-Man.
I’m old enough to have owned an Atari 2600/VCS when I was a kid. For us kids of the time that was some pretty amazing stuff. The kids with parents that had deeper pockets had the competitor, Intelivison which had better graphics and sounds. However there was Astrocade, which was a pretty amazing system that had the best sounds and graphics for the time. It was a bomb because of very poor marketing of only being sold at Monkeywards. The 2600 was limited due to only having 4K or ram, but later programmers found a way to get around it by bank switching.
Back in the day, there weren't big teams working on a title, for the most part it was usually one programmer. Their job was to create or translate an arcade title onto a machine that was very limited. There were some pretty decent transitions, but they were nowhere close to the original, with maybe the Wizard of War coming the closest. As bad as they were, we still enjoyed playing them. I will admit that I thought some of the best games programmed for it are titles you aren't going to see due to trademarked or copyrights.
I remember my dad coming home one-day and surprising us when he was trying to play the Atari 2600 version of Pac-Man. It was something that I felt was very out of character, because he wasn't known for doing things like that. The game didn't even come close to the arcade version. The colors were way off, the ghost flickering due to four on screen characters trying to share the one sprite that the 2600 could offer. The sound sucked, and it was very hard to control. The game was complete crap but we still enjoyed playing it along with having bragging rights that we had Pac-Man in the house.
As years went on, the truth came out why Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and so many others were so bad, and the biggy wasn’t the programmers. They did the best with what they were dictated by what the higher-ups wanted. They had the ability to make better games, but the CEOs at parent companies like Warner wanted something fast while cutting costs in order to make a profit. So they weren’t willing to spend a little more on bigger rom capacities. If you want to see a game that was programed very well, look at Pitfall 2. The game was very good looking, played well, and Activision even went so far as to throw in a pokey sound chip into every single cartridge. They were pushing that system to the max.
Another thing that programers for the Atari 2600 along with other video game systems, and computers of the time were compilers that made something easier like C++ compiled down to assembly language, that converted it into machine language of “0”s, and “0”s. The 2600 had only 256bytes. I did a little research trying to figure out the coding of the day and it was confusing as hell. Programers were faced with only being able to work with 169-192 resolution, two player characters, one sprite, and one object. The back grounds weren’t easy to do. The viewing screen was split in half with all of the things being split in half, with the right side being identical, or mirrored. However programmers learned how to fool the system to make it able to do things that it should have been able to do, and then hobbyists went beyond that by programming some pretty amazing stuff like a remake of Donkey Kong. I’m sure that there are compilers, programs, and even A I, that are lending a hand at some of the modern stuff being produced now. I know that a lot of people like to trash the 2600 ET game, but something as simple as the little graphic at the very beginning wasn’t an easy task because back then they didn’t have WACOM tablets on which you can save an image and pull for a video game. It all had to be coded.
Wind the clock too now, games have huge files with very flashy 3d graphics, sounds, and you have things to worry about like character management. However that doesn’t mean they are going to be fun, because some of them don’t seem to relax the mind, and/or a bunch of them have some sort of political message hidden under the hood. The other thing is that with modern games they are getting released all buggy full with glitches, and/or not even being completed at all. It’s just not one or two nerds producing games, but whole teams that are often spread across the globe, costing multi millions to produce. Lately some of them are taking a blood bath, because they are just complete crap when they are supposed to be a triple A title.

Political Postal Ponies With Rockets
Posted a week agoThis is one that is going to bounce around because I have so much on my mind at the moment. After what I write today, I’m going to cut back on political postings because I’m one that rather write about fun stuff, nerdy hobbies, and weird things that happen at work. Lets not forget the deer.
I thought that it would be an interesting title, Political Postal Ponies With Rockets. I was all ready to start talking smack about our lovely postage system, and how things seem to take some weird deters visiting different sites across this country, then taking usually takes four days to get from Dallas to hear because of all the different stops it has to go through traveling about 100 miles. Usually the biggest hangups is when it reaches Fort Worth. Well I got a message yesterday saying that my shipment would be delayed till Tuesday, and I wasn’t a bit surprised. Then today, Friday, all of the stuff arrived on the original delivery dates. I thought, damn, their ponies must have some rocket boosters strapped to their butts, or ate some good homemade chili with beans. I was very impressed that all of it arrived on the same day even though one was ordered a day later.
Now for the political stuff. Right now the big thing in the county is the new data centers that are going to be built. I have mixed feelings, but if what I’m hearing about what the County Judge, and Coart has done I’m totally against it. I believe that no matter what side of the aisle might lean, no elected officials should be taking personal cash gratuities to sneak a plant in. I think that it’s a conflict of interest whether it’s 500K, or whatever the number. Then again from what I’ve been learning, it makes J.D. Hogg look like an angel.
Now this is where things get a little bit iffy. People are wanting me to put political signs on my property because they feel it’s in a great location since it’s across from the school. I don’t want that stuff, because I don’t want the chance of getting my deer in harm's way. The last time I let people protest along my fenceline, it really got out of control, because of the flags that were being flown. I don’t mind freedom of expression, but the flags that people were hanging on my fence were a bit controversial, but cause of others turning it into a sign of hate. The phone was getting blown up at work along with people actually coming in harassing me. I had to drive home and put a stop to it.
The other thing, I don’t want to run for any form of political office even though I have been asked to run for Mayor, and County Commissioner. I had enough of being in a public elected position. You are going to have those that think you are the next best thing to slice bread, while others were making death threats, and over silly stuff. I asked the one County Commissioner who wanted me to run, why me. He said because you don’t play the good O’boy game along with being a good person. From exprence of my partner being the Mayor for several years, I didn’t want it, even though it was a decent pay. I didn’t like coming home with animals being dumped on my property, or disgruntled city drunk pounding and yelling at my front door. A lot of people think that being in a political position is all kittens and sunshine, but it’s far from that, but I’m just basing it on my exprence. I resigned from my position when I saw the good O’boy mentality start to take form on where it was uncovered that embezzling was starting to take place, and that they were going to use me as the escape goat. So I told them that they could have it, and walked away. Even though I was heart broken, they actually did me a huge favor. Eventually the ones involved were finally ran off when they tried to back stab the wrong person.

Bucky's Spelling Sucks
Posted 2 weeks agoFor those that have known me for years, you all know I can't spell my way out of a paper bag, and this used to show if I was spelling something wrong. I looked everywhere in the settings to turn my lovely red markers back on. Can someone please tell me what I did wrong that suddely turned that because I'm at a lost.
I lost my memory.
Posted 2 weeks agoI lost my memory, and I don’t remember where I might have put it.
I’ve been doing a lot of cleaning at home, and around the property. A couple of weeks ago I threw a lot of empathy boxes including one to my TUF laptop. While working on a project I found that I was going to have to do some swapping of the memory, then I remembered that I have a couple of 32gb DDR5 memory kits that I use for testing and keep as spare. So I went to where I thought I put it, and it wasn’t there. Then I remembered that I put them in a flat box like something that a motherboard would come in. Well I went through all of them and found nothing. Next thing I’m going through everything, and like what everyone else would do, I went through the same thing over and over. Then I had an “Oh-FiretUCK” moment. They were in the TUF box. What sucks is the price of memory has really gone through the roof because of data centers. That meant I have to buy some new memory backups.
A couple of questions.
What do you think of data centers? How many years did me manage to survive without them?
What is a good amount of memory does one really need? I’ll admit that I like 64gb.
What age does you mind run at on how you feel vs physical age? My mind feels like it’s in the 20s.

Butt Hurt.
Posted 2 weeks agohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EbKssmdKN0
After dealing with a couple of snowflakes about how I felt about bird reflectors and parking spots, it made me think of the Gelco Commercial featuring Lee Ermey. The first time that I saw it I busted.
Now in current times, you never know who is going to get all butt Hurt over something that one might say, write about, post, and/or whatever. For example, the other day I was talking to someone about how the place that I work for made a special parking spot for me because I have been with them for 30+ years. It’s something new that they are doing for 30+ year associates, and the parking area isn’t bad. I am also not sure whether it’s a company thing, or something that is being done at our location level. I was going to say at our store, but some Negative Nilly would probably start in about the place that I work for. I will admit, it doesn’t pay the best, but it puts food on the table, pay the bills, and keeps my critters fed. Do I think that they could do better when it comes to paying the long timers, I would say yes, but that could lead into a different posting.
Back to the topic of the parking spot, Well there are those who are butt hurt that I got it, and then there are those who feel that I should be insulted, because they think that because I’m near sixty that I can walk far. Well I’m having issues with my left foot because of a bone spur. I know it's just a parking spot but I think it's a nice thing.

The Corn Field
Posted 2 weeks agoIt was a good thing that I was insulted. A good good thing. Please don’t send me to the Corn Field. I wonder how many of you remember that Twilight episode from way back when. Anyways little Jimmy had powers, and everyone who lived in the same house was always in fear that if he got mad that he would use his powers to torture them, then later on get sent to the Corn Field.
If you haven’t watched any Twilight Zones from back in the day, they are very good. Several of them have warnings that if we don’t change our ways that we will basically wipe human kind out.
One of my other favorettes is one that I like to point out to people is The Thought Tank Of Mr. Rogers, and it didn’t end out to be a beautiful day in the neighborhood. I always thought that it was Mr Wripple. It’s basically how he uses A I, and Computers to run his company to save money till at the very end it shows him whining because he gets canned by a Robot who took over as CEO.
I guess we have to accept, and comply even though I think things aren’t on a level playing field.

Ultra Bucky or Ultra Fox Box
Posted 2 weeks agoUltra Bucky, or do you like Ultra Box-Fox better? It’s part of the naming scheme that I use when it comes to my PC builds. I was originally going to have the Bucky name related to AMD builds, and the Box name to Intel, but after I saw the Box name, it made me think of Xbox. Then again I could call it Ultra Xfox. What name do you like?
The name is kind of giving it away that the build will be based on an Intel Core Ultra. After doing some homework, I realized that the Ultra 7 was the best bang for buck for what I will be doing. From what I saw, it’s not worth the extra $200 to go with the U9.
I know I said I was going to wait till next year, but I couldn't pass up a really good black-friday deal on a U7-motherboard combo. I know it’s not the greatest MSI MB, but from what I read, it will get the job done at a decent level.
As for building it, it’s probably going to be a while, because I have a pretty full plate for probably the rest of the year. The biggest challenge will be building it in the HYTE Y70 case which I still haven’t opened that I have hidden in the closet. I know that it’s going to be a weird color theme of Red and Black, but it was the only Y70 that was at a decent price. I will probably be swapping some of the ram around with one of my other systems due to prices going astronomical. As for the GPU, it’s whatever I pull out of the closet for the day.
I know, I have a strange hobby.

Free?!? Is it Really Free?
Posted 2 weeks agoThe are those who think that the Socialism is a free ride, just remember that nothing is free. Someone is aways going to have to pay for it.
Wuffy The Robotic... SCAM!!!
Posted 3 weeks agoI just saw a Youtube commercial for Wuffy The Robotic Dog, and from the second it started playing I called, BULLSHIT!!! What’s sad is that you are going to have people that are going to really believe that it’s real. The ad was probably all AI, including the little old lady that is doing the talking. The other thing is that I don’t think an AI robotic dog can age.

It’s the holiday season, so there are going to be lots of scams.

Power, and The Outerworlds 2
Posted 3 weeks agoAfter seeing how much my RTX 5090 is drawing, I’m thinking about dropping my Just Bucky build back down to one of my lower 50 cards. It was insane to see that it was eating 550+ watts at time with a couple of my games that I have been piddling with, then again the Outerworld games do crave a lot of resources.
I don’t play much, but when I’m not running some sort of test with them, I want to relax a little even though it might only be a few minutes a day. The one thing that I don’t find relaxing is when game publishers try to force their political agenda, or personal quirks onto the audience that they are trying to impress. I think that might be a big reason why Outerworlds 2 is failing badly. The game is very anti-capitalist, but I’m sure the people who worked on the game are making nice checks that they aren’t willing to share with others. I also feel that they didn’t do a good job with Anti Clio who is basically a rip-off of MOM from Futurama. They also didn’t make her look old in her animated cuts like she is shown from the art from the original game. I might give it a second chance after I get bored playing the original.
I will admit that I like the first game, which is one of my favorettes. Even though there were some politically correct things going on, it wasn’t badly butchered up with it. I also enjoy the painted look art style, and all of the animation that the game has to offer which is why it’s probably turning my gaming rig, and other machines into big expensive space heaters. The one big complaint about the game was how all the MPCs all basically look the same. Then again maybe it’s the style. My big gripe about the first game is how long some of the dialogue can be, but I have to remember it’s also a RGP. Since I have played it, but not all the way through, I did learn some tricks and shortcuts. I just didn’t know that the game would be good to test and stress hardware with.
Was Pac-Man ever political.

Switch 2
Posted 3 weeks agoI finally decided after a few months that it was time to let that Gorilla that kept pounding on my door out of the closet. In other words, I decided to set up the Nintendo Switch 2 and install the New Donkey Kong game, which is ok, but I really haven’t had much time to play it.
My first impression of the Switch 2 is pretty… what happened Nintendo? The first one was great, but I’m guessing that the company got greedy, or a bit on the anti consumer side. Even though I think the hardware is pretty solid, I think Nintendo is stabbing themselves in the foot with the way that they are handling the software side of things.
The elephant in the room is the price of $500, and that is with the one that comes with the Mario-Cart bundle. I have heard people complain that it’s way too much, but many are the same ones that will easily spend over that amount on a mid level graphics card. I will say that when it comes to tech, and inflation, it’s just barely hitting a fair price. It would be a good price if it came with 512 of internal storage, or a bit more ram, but I don’t think that Nintendo was thinking very far in the future. I feel that 256 isn’t enough if they are going to have games like Cyber Punk 2077 that requires 60gbs of memory. Maybe the 12gb or ram will work, after all Microsoft can get it to work on the Xbox Series S. Also Nintendo’s OS isn’t bloated like Windows.
Like I said earlier, the hardware is pretty solid, and feels more premium compared to something like the ROG Ally X. I can’t compare it to the Xbox ROG Ally X, but I’m not a big fan of how the system looks big and clunky, compared to the slim look of the Switch 2, but it is a more powerful system. When it comes to the specs, it’s about 5x to 10x more powerful with some added gimmicks that the original doesn’t have like the ability to use the joy-cons as a mouse. I also like the way that the controls snap into place vs sliding on. I’m surprised that Nintendo didn’t name it the Click. The screen is supposed to be a better resolution with a higher variable refresh rate. I also don’t know why they didn’t use RGB lighting around the controller vs color rings.
I did try a few games like the new Donkey Kong Banaza, and since it’s a game from Nintendo, it’s kind of expected for it to be good, and what little of it that I did play, it wasn’t half bad, but I have said that about other games, and the further that I got, it got bad. I did the Hogwarts $10 upgrade, and at first it was a little bit of a battle to get it to run, and it has to do with something that I will address further down. I did see an improvement compared when it was on the original switch. I decided to try to see what a an original third party switch game would look like so I picked, The Outer Worlds, and it was giving me flashbacks of the N64 days. I could be wrong but I don’t remember it looking that bad on original hardware. So after dealing with one of Nintendo’s new not so friendly features, l pulled it back up on the OLED Nintendo. I will admit that load times are faster on the Switch 2. To be fair, I think that I have been spoiled with playing on the ROG Ally, and on PC, because it’s just as on original hardware like it is on the 2. I was surprised at how well that Cyber Punk 2077 ran on it, because I figured it would have been a complete dumpster fire like the X Box One.
Then you have the software side of things. I fully agree that if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. In other words, I’m not too bothered about the way the OS looks. After all, the main purpose of the device is to play games. As for the games, I think that Nintendo is losing its edge of being family and friendly. I feel that they are double dipping and charging too much for older titles that have been around for a long time. I.E., $70 for the Super Mario Galaxy combo.
Now the new Switch has some new things that I think are very gimmicky like the joy-cons being able to be used as a so-called mouse. I feel that they might use it a few times, and that’s about it. The other new thing which I noticed was carried over to the original switch is the virtual cards. Now this is where I feel that Nintendo needs to learn a lesson from Steam, Xbox Game Pass, PSN, and even Nintendo from the days of the past. When you buy or lease something from either of them, one has the ability to play it wherever and whenever as long as there is some sort of internet. Now Nintendo has come up with this great idea which I feel is very anti consumer when it comes to these virtual cards. Personally there is no need to do it because Nintendo should be able to see who owns the games to what account, but they want buyers to play a silly game where you must have your old unit nearby so you can exchange virtual cards. So that means if one goes on a business trip, vacation, or whatever, and you left your Switch at home, that you can simply run to the story and pick up a new Switch or Switch 2, get online from how many miles away, and just start playing. I found that I had to pull mine from underneath a litter of dust bunnies, give it some charge in order to finish downloading it even though it showed on my account that I owned the game. How F up is that?
Maybe Nintendo can fix and get rid of the stupid crap that they are forcing on their customers, but if they don’t this could be the start of the Wii-U 2.0. In other words their downfall.

Modern Video Games
Posted 4 weeks agoSince I’m doing a cloud recovery on my Asus ROG Ally X that strangely decided to stop working after the latest Windows 11 update, I figured I would do some writing about my fun adventures of dealing with the latest, and greatest when it comes to new games. I just hope it’s only the OS that somehow got screwed up, and doing cloud recoveries on the Ally sucks because it takes so long till the point that I’m having flashbacks on installing Windows 95 on a Packard Bell. I’m just glad that there is no more annoying animated snaredrum.
I don’t know how many of you ever have played The Outerworlds. For me it was a love/hate relationship of a game. Even though I thought at times that they were trying to get all politically correct at times, I enjoyed playing it on the PS5 even though it was originally a PS4 game. The most annoying thing that I didn’t like about the game was the long time it took between load screens, and if you didn’t manually save between cuts and got killed, it could mean for a lot of back tracking. If any of you owned a Nintendo Switch, the game was also available, and who cares if the graphics weren’t as good as long as there was good game play. I then later on got it for PC with X Box Lame Pass. Unlike every other Game Pass game, for some reason cloud saving just wasn’t a thing. So when playing it, I couldn’t go from one PC to another between saves which is probably something that a normal gamer wouldn’t probably do, but it’s one of the games that I like to use because of something that I discovered during one of the earliest scenes that has the Unreliable in it. For some reason the Radeon RT 7900xt couldn’t handle steam or smoke, but I also learned that Nvidia cards weren't much better with it even though it wasn’t as annoying as the flickering. I finally eliminated the cloud saving issue by buying it when it was on sale from Steam. So I’m getting the chance to once again enjoy the game no matter what computer I might be wanting to play it on.
Recently three new triple “A” games just released, Dying Light The Beast, Borderlands 4, and The Outer Worlds 2. Since I enjoyed previous games of the three titles, I decided to buy two of the three, and used Game Pass for the third.
Dying Light The Beast is probably the most polished of the three of the new titles. I haven’t found where it looked, and ran bad with any of the configurations, and systems that I played and tested it on. Heck even with an RTX 5050 it came across very optimized, and well worth playing. It even looked clean and smooth on my TUF laptop Ryzen 7 7735hs with Redeon 7700s graphics. I just haven’t had the chance to put more hours into it.
Then you have the other end of the Scale, Borderlands 4. I know that they are fixing things, but when it first came out, it seemed like hours always build new shaders then after it bounced into the actual game it builds more shaders. Then gamble if it would crash while loading into the game or shortly after starting to play it. It didn’t matter the system, it was the same no matter what. I still had the 5050 plugged into the system, and it did the weird I’m in space routine when changing down the graphics mode but it took about a minute for all of the textures to reload in, but once they did, the game was playable. However I was curious on how it would perform with the 5070, well it did ok at first, but when doing the same experiment, the same thing happened, but it was quicker. Long story short it was the same on my top dog card, but it was more like a blink of the eye. However I did notice something going on with the 5090 was that objects were popping in when going through the different terrain. So the next test was to compare it with my new Radeon 9070xt on were the pop ups weren’t as noticeable.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the game is improving, and I think it’s still enjoyable even though it’s basically the same game again. “Tiny Tina’s Wonderland I feel is the best of them, but I like stuff that has a sense of humor.” My big complaint is the way that Gear Box does the updates and patches. The game would load, torture you with building the shaders, then it says it has to do the updates, reboot, and go through the shaders again. Just curious, how come I have other games that only go through the shaders once, they look and run better.
Then there is The Outerworlds 2. I decided to go Story Mode because I was more interested in doing graphics tests at first, and the original game was a bit more difficult. It was also the first game that I got to test with the Just Bucky Build. The game should look great with the 9800x3d/RTX 5090 hooked up to a 1440p monitor with 144 refresh rate, Right? It seemed a bit rough, and yes I did have all the drivers installed. It did improve with some DLSS turned on, but the thing that got me the most was screen tearing. I tried some other games with it, and didn’t run into those issues. So I went into my studio and fired up that machine, and it ran about the same with the 9070xt but without the screen tearing. When testing it on the TUF Buck, I discovered something that I never noticed before in any other game was atmospheric weather conditions. Yes there were storms, trees were swinging back and forth as if wind was blowing through them, but I never noticed grass before shifting the way that the wind was blowing. Then again in the original game I notice the shadows changing from the way that the sun was moving even though in real life, it wasn’t done in steps. However when it comes to reality, most aren’t probably going to pay attention to detail like that.
Back to the original topic, I think that too many of these modern games are being brought to the market before they are fully baked. It even happened all the way back when the Atari 2600 was king, but there was no updates once released to the market. I remember playing one of the Medal of Honor on the PS2, it kept on crashing or freezing at the same place in the game. I took it back and exchanged it for the Game Cube version, and right at the same spot it started doing the same thing. I tried it on my friend's old school Xbox, and it was doing the same thing. I thought that there has got to be a way to get around the bug, then I discovered that simply going down the sidewalk more before crossing the street, the game didn’t crash. That was long before patches, and where one could watch walk-throughs on Youtube.

Keyboards
Posted 4 weeks agoIf you have a computer like a laptop, or desktop, then most likely you are using some sort of keyboard.
For several years since my days of misspelling everything on a typewriter, I have like the feel of an old 70s/80s keyboard. Then with modern computers the keyboards got very mushy. They were far from the old IBM chicklet style that you would find on an old PC-XT. It wasn’t til I discovered gaming mechanical keyboards that I could experience that old feeling again. Where one actually had to press down on the keys for typing, have that nice response, and somewhat a little sound from the old days. The only problem is that I don’t like the looks of some of the different options, and others not having the ability to turn off the RGB if it’s now your thing.
For the Just Bucky Build, I bought a GravaStar keyboard. Nice keyboard, but sometimes very hard to see. I might see if there is a different color scheme other than a translucent jelly fish theme. I also found that the Red Dragons are good keyboards at an excellent price that won’t break the bank like the ones that you might find at a local bestbuy.
Just curious, what type of keyboards do you like? The clicky, or the mushy kind.

The 9070xt challange.
Posted a month agoThe file name that I have for this document is called the 9070xt Challenge Challenge. The reason why it’s called that is because I ran into an issue when my “C” drive kicked the bucket because I used a cheap no name off brand. So it gave me the excuse to swap out my Asus Strix B650 motherboard with the Asus Strix X870-A that I originally was going to return that I bought to replace a defected board that had the same name. I killed two birds with one stone proving that the original board was defective, because I haven’t run into any of the same problems with this new Strix MB. I did run into a bunch of other issues when it came to power and cable management. Even though both the old 850w and 1300w psu were the same size, I couldn’t get it to fit into the case, then I realized that the connections were in a different arrangement. After changing things around I was able to get it to work.
Then came the challenge of installing Windows 11 onto a new M.2 4tb drive. Luckily I had all of the drivers already downloaded from when I had the defected motherboard in the Buckenstein build. The most time consuming part was re-downloading programs and games to test with the 7090xt. At first I wasn’t all impressed with the new Radeon GPU, but I also didn’t know that the Graphics Drivers didn’t install properly till a few days later when I decided to watch some youtube videos on what I might have been doing wrong. I didn’t know that a Windows update went a little south, but I was able to get everything fixed, and from retesting, I was getting pretty impressive results with some of them that was actually better than even some of my higher end RTX cards. What’s confusing is that even though the games said it was running FSR-4, I noticed it wasn’t one of the choices that I could turn off. I also tested the card with some older titles, and it did a very decent job.
I think that the best graphics I have seen so far with the 9070xt has got to be the new Dying Light The Beast, but that game even looks polished with a 5050. The game that looks like complete crap with it has got to be Oblivion Remaster, but I can’t get that game to look good with really anything, but I haven’t tested it on my intel machine with the 5080.
I know that I’m going back on memory, but when I had a Radeon RT 7900xt, I was getting pretty good results when the card wasn’t causing my system to crash. Then again it was a used card that was a loaner but it might explain why the previous owner switched to something different.
As for Nvidia, I feel that they are way over rated, and the new AMD cards can do some serious stuff compared to their older cards.

Nerdy Vacation
Posted a month agoVacation, I actually started writing this while on my lunch break.
It’s been a minute since I’ve written anything, and it’s because I have been extremely busy. We've been slowly de-hoarding the place, and working a manual labor job for most of my life. I'm usually pretty worn out when I get home and I still can’t adjust to the roller coaster schedule that’s very hard to plan around. So it’s nice to be able to come home, and spend some time outside visiting the critters, or working on my computer hobby. Now I just need to find time to get some new lines drawn, but I fell into an artist block because of all of the craziness that has been happening.
I’m also waiting for my new custom license plates to arrive, which is my nickname that I have had for over 30 years, “Buckyob”. I couldn’t get “bucky” because it was already taken, and I didn’t want some number in it, but then I got creative with the spelling, Bucky-Boy, with the boy starting backwards. I’m no longer in correspondence with the one that gave me that nickname, because unlike them I realize that not everyone is going to thank the same. Then again they and their other half have been living a fantasy lifestyle, but sooner or later the well will dry up. I can’t think of one ever really having some sort of employment, but I guess it’s something one doesn’t have to worry about if they hook onto a sugar mommy or daddy. As for the other, their form of employment has always been confusing, till I realized they were living off of old money.
I don’t really have any big plans when it comes to my vacation. It’s more a case that I need to get away from the work environment before I strangle someone. I know that HD and I are going to have to remove a dead tree that fell on the front porch from the bad storm that we had last night which was pretty wicked. Since I left out the back door, I didn’t see the damage, but according to HD there wasn’t any, just a mess to clean up.
One of things I will be working on is the “Just Bucky” build. I know the name isn’t very exciting, but I got the idea from Apple’s old, I’m a Mac commercials. The actual system is going to be a high end gaming and testing rig, but I probably flop the different GPUs around. It's also going to be the machine that I will be doing digital art in my studio.
I know it sounds crazy that they are calling it a high end gaming system but that is because of the Ryzen 9 7800x3d having 96 mb of level 3 cash versus the 32 MB that the regular single ccd 8 core. I need to do some homework to really understand the different levels of cash memory. I’m sure that a CPU that is more designed for gaming can be used for production work like a production CPU can be used for gaming, but it just won’t perform as well. It’s not like the old days where you only had a couple of choices to choose from when it came to the processor.
I was able to complete one of the tasks that I planned which was adding a second M.2 drive to my laptop. I watched videos on how to do it, and unlike my other laptop, there was a heat sink I had to remove before adding the new drive which was easier said than done because of five micro screws that held it in place. The hardest part was putting the heat sink screws back in. I got a brand new magnetic micro bit set, but my eyes couldn’t focus on the tips because they were so small, so I had to use a non magnetic one. I had issues because the screws were so small that I had a hard time lining them upright so I could screw them down, but after fussing for about a half an hour I was able to complete the task. I’m hoping that it’s something that I’m not going to have to do for a very long time. My fingers are starting to age, and I don’t have the feelings on the tips like I used to because of chemicals mixed with aging.
Sugar Daddy's and Old Money
Posted a month agoFriends. You might have a bunch on line, and several times you aren’t all going to share all of the same ideas and beliefs. The good ones are going to stick around for ever, but you will have those that you thought that were close that suddenly no longer want anything to do with you, and it could simply be because you don’t see eye to eye on one thing forgetting about all the other things that has happened in the past that made your friendship possible.
For over 35 years, I have been friends with this one, even though I really didn’t care for their other half. Then again even before she meant him, she was living the dream life of never having to work any sort of job. To her everything was, play, play, play, because she always had some sort of sugar daddy taking care of the bills, even if one didn’t have any sort of job because was probably living off of an inheritance. Yea, he did have a job, for a bit but the money math made no sense. In some ways it reminds me of one of my aunts, that we used to call Aunty Good Digger. She was one that never worked a day in her life, but she sure liked guys with big bulges as long as they were in the back pocket. I will admit that her first husband was a bit nutty, and he was the fall guy when the ones with more would dump her, but he only put up with that for so many times.
The next guy that she married was one of these that was born with a silver spoon in his mouth thanks to his mother owning a private monastery school. My cousin killed that mirage when he decided to play Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and crashed the New Corvette convertible down the Santa Monica Mountains. My Grandma wanted my mom to play medary but my mom said hell no because my Grandma would never do anything like that for use. My Grandma was one that only could love only one Grandchild at a time, but I think my dad from being a complete ship didn’t help matters at all. She hated him, and in a way I really couldn’t blame her, but she didn’t need to take it out on us grandkids. From having photographic memory, I learned when I got older that she was quite an evil person.
The last and final guy that my Aunty shagged/shacked up with was completely loaded because he was the head Manager for Bod Dy… well a very well known rock star. When my Grandman died who was my Mom’s and Aunt’s sister, the Lawyer that did the will was her brother in law so there was a major conflict of interest. My other Aunty, and Mom only got $1000 each, while my aunt got the saving’s, and a million dollar home, and my cousin made a killing. My brother, sister, my other cousins and I didn’t get anything. I remember that there was a cause in the will that said that if anyone contested it, that no one would get nothing. The math is very simple, if no one got nothing except for Aunty Gold Digger, and son, what was there to loose? Like time I checked 0*0=0.
My Grandma C was another one that never had to work a day in her life. She married a vice president of an oil tycoon, who made damn good money. I know that he was always gone on business trips. Even though when he died, he left my grandma with millions, very little of that money trickled downhill. My dad lied and said no one got anything because of a stipulation in the will which only to took till 2019 to figure that the story he told was nothing more than a huge lie. He basically gambled it all away that my grandma’s nursing home didn’t get, or that my other aunt took off with. I just wish he was more honest about it.

Quacks Like A Duck
Posted a month agoThere is an old saying. If it quack like a duck, swims like a duck, fart likes a duck. flies like a duck, it's a duck. Yet there are those who will try to sugar coat it by saying that it's not a duck.
I'm sure that some of you will figure out what I'm talking about.

The RTX 5050 Challenge
Posted a month agoThe Nvidia RTX 5050, who is this graphics card really for, and why was it created and produced?
As you know, I like to test different hardware, and I got a new item to test and write about, and that is the RTX 5050. It has a cuda core count of 2560 which is more than the 1536 that is in the Nintendo Switch Two, but is under the 3840 of the 5060 that has about 50% more power. When looking at the physical card, it’s really pretty blah. Tech Youtubers like to trash it calling the 5050 a waste of sand, but I’m going to say there was a reason to create it when if one pays just $50 more one can get a 5060 which has the same amount of video ram of 8gb, but with 50% more power.
To start I do think the card has a purpose, like going into a prefab PC if there is room for it along with a proprietary power supply and yes do make a low profile version of the card. I also think it would do a good job if one is using it to do digital paintings, or other task that aren’t needing crap loads of cuda cores. The one thing about the 5050 is that it’s not a very flashy looking card.
From testing it, I think it does a good job playing single player games, and I gave it some challenges of really pushing it to see what it can do at some of these newer games that really push both the GPU along with the CPU. I was actually impressed with the performance even tho some of the graphics settings had to be knocked down some, but the visuals were still great with the fps hanging out between 40 to 60 fps. Then again I was testing it with a Ryzen 7 7800x3d which I still have to write about. The one thing that I did notice about the card was that it ran a little bit on the warm side, then again my TUF 5080 does the same.
The first test that I did was the Dying Light 2 bench mark at high without ray tracing which I got an average frame rate of 42 at 1440P. To me 30fps is a playable game and I chose that number because that is what most games on consoles run at. Since the producers of that game turned off DLSS due to crashing, I tried some FSR and got a little bit of a better score.
Then I tried Dying Light The Beast, and at medium settings, it was very smooth at native graphics which were great. I did improve it, by turning on DLSS to balance, and then adding some frame gen, and I didn’t run into any issue with lag. The other thing that I did was to drop it down to 1080p, but it really didn’t change anything so I bumped it back up. If you ever play the new Dying Light, the graphics are very wow, and it didn’t come out half baked.
For the next game, I decided to give the 5050 a bit more of a challenge with the Indiana Jones game. I know that the game doesn’t like to run on GPUs that have less than 16gbs of Vram, but I got to thinking, if it ran on my TUF laptop which has a Radeon Graphics with only 8gb of Vram, surely I could get it to run on the little 5050. Well the first try, the game crashed. The second time I got the game to boot up into safe mode where I could change the settings and turn off the crazy extreme ray tracing, and once I did that I rebooted and got the game running at high settings at 50 fps but I did have DFLSS set to quality. I had no complaints and visuals, but I don’t think that when someone is playing a game that they enjoy that they are really going to pay attention to weather or not if the game has raytracing.
Even though I tested the 5050 on other titles, the last game that I’m going to talk about is Borderlands 4 on which I will have its own separate write up in the future. If any of you have ever played it, it’s a game that can be very trying no matter the GPU. I dropped the graphics down to very high, but it wasn’t the best experience, so I had to drop it down to medium, but when I did that I thought that the game crashed. It took about a minute for all the textures and stuff to load in on which I ran into the same issues with the 5060 ti 16gb. Once all of that was done, the game ran fine at about 70fps with DLSS turned on without frame gen. Now I’m curious to see if I will run into similar issues with some of the higher end cards.
As for the RTX 5050 8gb card, I think if can give one a good gaming experience if they just tone down some of the settings. If you are on a budget and can squeeze $50 more, go with the 5060 8gb card, and with a few dollars more, get the Radeon 9060xt 8gb.

Digging A Hole
Posted a month agoToday I feel like complete crap, and I hate digging holes.
Before I get too far into my short story, I’m really liking this new Red-Dragon mechanical keyboard that I bought from Amazon that didn’t bust the bank. It has a very nice feel to it like an old typewriter.
My day started off on a bad note of having to dig a grave for Leaf who was one of the foster fawns who was struck by a vehicle. To make it worse I wasn’t feeling so well from the day before but after several hours I completed the project. My body is now reminding me that I’m not as young as I used to be. In just a few months I will be hitting the big 60.
I also did something that I haven’t done in a very long time. I accidentally over medicated on my blood pressure medication from trying a side routine. I got to work thinking that I forgot to take my meds, so I had HD drive me up some of my BP pills. Well about a half an hour I realized that I did a big mistake and that I did end up taking my morning dose, so it made for a very rough and painful day.
Lately I feel like there isn’t enough time in a day. A I tell us that we should be able to squeeze 36 hours into a day, but what do computers know about people? They are machines, but a way to kill one of them is to pull the plug.
I enjoy working with computers, but I don’t think they should be used to control our lives, but I think they are becoming the new masters.
Something that many don’t understand about me, is that I can get along with most people. Sometimes getting to know someone can be a bumpy ride, but as my boss says, she tries to see good in just about everyone. She is a cool person for the most part, but sometimes she can be like Rah from the movie, Star-Gate. The only thing that she is missing is the glowing eyes, but she has that stare that Rah would make while not speaking a word to let you know that she is pissed.
As for me, I do keep the door open which is a figure of speech because to tell you the truth, I don’t like leaving my front door open because I don’t like people looking into my house. Three times I had to deal with intruders, and it wasn’t fun. Nothing serious happened, but I just don’t like some complete stranger coming into my place un invited. In the 90s, a fellow co worker who followed me home, and he thought that just because I was from California that I was gay and easy. Well I am gay, but I just don’t sleep with anyone that comes along. I reported it and work didn’t believe me at first till he did it to two others, and it ended up costing him his job and marriage.
I also believe in the three strikes and you’re out rule unless someone like Pooch completely throws me under the bus. Long story but he thought that he could destroy me like he did a few others, but power isn’t a big deal, and I let him know, that he could have it, and just walked away.

Grooming
Posted a month agoIt's sad to see that one of my friends that I have know for a long time is being badly groomed, but when you think you are in love, you will agree to their views so you don't have to sleep in the living room on a sofa.
Amazon Orders
Posted a month agoI finally figured out the double orders on Amazon. I don’t know if the app does the same thing on iPhone, but when using Amazon with Android, I will sometimes directly go to cash out instead of putting it in my cart. After placing it, I get a message asking if I want to place my order, and I hit yes thinking that it was still never placed. So that meant that I was taking a trip to the UPS drop off on most of them, but I did keep some of the stuff in case of something blowing up.
I don’t know if I was being handed a line from the body shop that is working on my pickup when it comes to my new front bumper, and nerf bars which they ordered a week before I took it in for a facelift. The project was supposed to have taken two days max, but it looks like it might be turning into five plus. I have mixed feelings from both being a customer, and working retail myself where I have seen lots of delays. I thought that it was kind of weird that I felt that I was getting some sort of excuse because someone forgot to order something, like the nerf bars. The other thing that didn’t make any sense was if the bumper came in, why would they have to wait for the bars to install that part of the order. The guy said that the nerf bars are easy to install compared to the bumper grill guard combo. I was curious to see it, but he said that it was still in the box. I’m thinking that I was only being told a half truth.

Swapping Motherboards, and things.
Posted a month agoI just finished replacing the motherboard on my Buckenstein, and so far the computer is running like a dream. It hasn’t crashed once, and it’s running way smoother. The only flaw is very minor that doesn’t affect the operation of the machine at all because it’s strictly cosmetic. I can’t get the little screen that sits over the CPU watercooler pump to stop working. It will flash SAMA right before it gets before the bios screen or before windows goes into full windows boot. I don’t know if I damaged the screen when I cleaned it after putting a huge finger smudge, or if there might be a loose wire on the USP2 pin connector. I also order a 3 pin RGB hub so I can have control of the lighting when it comes to the fans. I was going to try to hook the plug straight to the motherboard but the cables just don’t reach and I don’t want to have to do a lot of rewiring when a $12 hub from Amazon Prime days takes care of the problem just fine, well at least I hope it does.
My next project that I will conquer on my vacation will to be moving the Buckzilla build to its new case, but I’m thinking that tearing it down to move everything ever might be very time consuming so I might make it a lesser machine with spare older parts that I have laying around which the Buckenstein build was supposed to have been. As HD would say, it’s not like I have a few spare computer fans, CPU, or GPU laying around. The only thing I really had to buy was a new CPU cooler instead of fighting with the current one by moving it around. I decided to go with the same one that is in the Buckzilla build. As for the studio, I’m thinking of calling it JustBucky. A bit boring, and there were other names, but I thought the name was proper for the build. Nothing fancy but enough to scare the crap out of the other monsters.
I’m hoping that my pickup will be ready by the end of my work shift tomorrow. I don’t like the idea of not having any wheels. I’m hoping that the upgrade and the detail was well worth it.
I also will be building a computer nerd work station within the next few months where I can do my graphic arts, and run digital experiments. I had to throw in the word digital because I don’t want someone thinking that I will be pulling wings off of flies. I know there are a lot of twisted people out there that do some of the heinous acts.
As for some of the interesting questions that have been thrown at me in pages, and text. No I didn’t win the lottery, nor did I get any in inheritance. I probably will never see either of those two things. This is from money from several years of hard work that I was actually able to touch. I paid off all of my bills except for a few medical ones, and for the first time I’m able to have a local emergency reserve. I decided to enjoy my money a little, so I poured a little into my computer hobby, fixing up the house, doing something nice for my ride, and let's not forget the deer. I will also be able to start stocking away more money locally while also being able to stay ahead of my bills while having some cash in my pocket in case of emergencies.

FAFO
Posted a month agoThe abbreviation FAFO seems to be pretty popular these days, and I’m glad that some who are doing the FA are starting to see some of FO even though it might be taking some time. When someone tried to drag me into their problem, I said hold on that I don’t want to be part of their mess. Yet they are one who is claiming they are the victim when they were the one that has brought on their own problem because they are FAing around, and how the FO is catching up. I will admit I saw problems brewing a while back, and from the beginning I knew that some things weren’t going to last. Hell the writing was all over the walls
I know we all have our own problems. Some are bigger than others, but they do exist. How we deal with them, sell that is left up to the beholder. I know that some are going through some very harsh times, and not all of it is caused by FAFO, but just being down on their luck. I have helped out when I could, but I often wonder if it is really helping or prolonging the problem.

Digital tags and artificial intelligence.
Posted 2 months agoThis morning my 5080 was gripping at me that I wasn't drinking my coffee fast enough and that I used the restroom at the wrong time. I still can't figure out why they use GPUs for artificial intelligence AKA A I, but I'm curious that if you have it playing cop, would it sound like a screaming banshee? I guess one can program it to sound like whoever. A big give away that it's A I is that it has a hard time pronouncing large numbers, or it will say the same words differently throughout the program. I've also seen it reword things that I was typing and that is without using Chat Xi Jinping… I meant to say chat GPT. I remember that work wanted us to install that on our phone, but I never did.
The bad thing about computers calling all the shots is that it has no compassion like people do.
I’m not a big fan of this digital ID crap that suddenly is being pushed onto the working class. I’m just curious if any or the ruling class is going to abide by this new law that some countries are trying to enforce on people. You know that with that crap that it’s probably going to involve chipping, but if an EMP ever goes off, well modern society is pretty much screwed, because we rely too much on our computers and cell phones.
Years ago, I had this friend who was quite a Liberal with his way of thinking including that he thought of himself being better than others because he had a few sheep skins hanging on the wall. Even though I thought he was a good guy, I didn’t think of him any better than the people that he was picking on. I didn’t have any special PHD like in BSing, but I think that I had a better knack in common since. We were pretty good friends till we had a fallout and of all things it was over a stupid trash can. I did him a huge favor when he ran down on his luck, but after three years, I thought that it was time that I ended the favor so I could move on with my life when it came to my place. Well he thought he would reward me with a Stupid Rubber Maid trash can. I was like really? I just kept all of your stuff from being thrown in front of a dumper and this is the thanks I get? What I should have down was to ride it out a bit longer because his property would have been mine. We didn’t talk for over 10 years till we minded things. I do know that when he did get older, his thinking did shift but I think that happens a lot with age… Well for the most part. Even though he was a Liberal, he was never a leftist I see a difference between the two, like a hard core right winger, and a moderate.
Back when we were real good friends, he would tell me some stuff that was kind of scary. I told him that he was just being paranoid but everything that he was talking about is starting to happen when it comes to the Big Brother Shit, along with computers taking over. (Back then it wasn’t called A I.) He would go on talking about thought police, and how cameras would recognize and mark you if you didn’t comply. Mind you not’ I was hearing all of these stories back in 1992 which was over 30 years ago. I remember him telling me that someone or something was always listening to our phone call conversations, and that computers would pick up key words, and if you said something wrong, you were marked. I asked if he had any tin foil hats hidden anywhere.
Another thing he talked about wa sticker cameras. Back then I thought it was so far fetch but that was back cameras were still big and bulky. Then I saw a show on TV of where the subject was the very thing. Kids and furs love sticking stickers on everything. Give them a roll of sticker cameras and they
Now in the present of 2025, it seems the push for artificial intelligence is very high. Even though we are in the mid 2020s, it has been a big push for several years now, and it seems like people are lapping it up faster than an under-fed dog at a food bowl.
To end this, the next time you see a dragonfly flying around, ask yourself if it's really a dragonfly, or a sophisticated bug bomb with a camera spying on you. If any of you have ever seen the first LEXX movie, you will know what I'm talking about. We just don't know how advanced technology has become.
