Back again , again
General | Posted a year agoWell hopefully this will bring some smiles & hugs from friendly folks.
A Urinary infection, quite serious one, brought me out of circulation online. Antibiotics were strong enough to cause hallucinations.
And just as I'm finishing the antibiotics for that, I caught COVID. Luckily as a high risk, I'd had my shots so it was mostly just isolation until it cleared my system.
Then the day going back to my special hospital bed, the bed breaks.
And the part that broke had to wait for some custom work.
Now at last I'm back, bedbound, but comfy, happy & communicating.

General | Posted a year agoSick again, on anti antibiotics. dead tired and hallucinating. Took an hour to write this note. Spent 3 hours reading a comic before finding my hand was empty. Just spread word I'm still around
Lackadaisy trailer
General | Posted 3 years agoJust happened upon this trailer for an animated short based on the comic Lackadaisy.
Set during Prohibition and starring a cast of anthropomorphic cats, it looks fantastic.

Facebook advice
General | Posted 3 years agoLooking for advice, I was kicked off Facebook for 30 days. No idea why
When I tried to inquire it first asked for my phone number and after confirming that it asked for a copy of an official ID.
Having heard bad things about their security I declined and was then told my account would be terminated in 30 days?????
Truly WTF?
Any advice?

Musical Corset Crunch
General | Posted 3 years agoHow'd I miss this.
A recent (for me) discovery on YouTube was a song called "Haus of Holbein" from the stage musical "SIX."
The lyrics include the lines "You bring the corset, we'll bring the cinches. No one wants a waist over (crunch) 9 inches."
Which apparently became a Tik Tok fad with girls and some guys demonstrating their skills at creating curves in time to the song.
Check them out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNX8PvHfMsI&t=34s
And for the musically curious, here's the full song with lyrics, too bad they never did a video of a later line that goes "Try these heels, so high it's naughty. But we cannot guarantee that you'll still walk at forty."

The Brony Con that MIGHT have been a con
General | Posted 3 years agoI have a weakness about reading stories of nightmare conventions (during my time attending cons the worst that happened was the Furfest gas attack.)
But here we have the story that rivals the final year of RainFURest in troubles, though of a very different sort.
The story of UniCon.
Told in a very fact based way by a charming hostess with some explanations for all sides as to why it happened.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNGvDUTM6lo&t=1s
Or check out a more frantic telling from one who was there.

I'm back (sort of)
General | Posted 3 years agoI'll be in a rehab hospital indefinitely, my legs finally gave out from tendinitis and lymphedema.
No pain and I just got a new laptop enabling me to do more online.
Hoping to be able to post stuff again, though not every week and not in the numbers I used to post.
All my stuff from my old apartment is in storage so can't scan any stuff from my collection.
Luckily I had scanned a lot of stuff onto some external hard drives and hopefully I'll get access to stuff I had scanned onto regular discs.
So again, thanks for the kind words from before and look forward to seeing comments on what I post in the future.
Likely also be getting commissions again soon.

Tiny Toons reboot
General | Posted 3 years agoWarners made it official at San Diego Comic-Con, our favorite romantic couple Babs and Buster Bunny will be brother and sister in the upcoming reboot of the series.
So cue the banjo music, southern jokes and add an incest indicator to old porn pics of them.
Oh yeah, parents, be ready with an explanation for kids who watch the old show too.
In other news, Buster is now drawn without his white toon gloves.
Is nothing sacred?

Fact vs fiction on an old furry fandom controversy
General | Posted 3 years agoWhile still recovering I found this interesting video about the REAL facts behind an infamous fan story from the early days of online fandom. Shows how something everyone knows can be wrong.
Plus for me it was nice to hear an old friend's voice again.

Safe but Tired
General | Posted 5 years agoHi folks, I received my first Covid19 Vaccine yesterday. Minor side effect (besides some soreness in my arm at the injection point) is a feeling of tiredness that supposedly lasts a few days.
So I'm taking it easy and posting an old piece that for some reason I had not posted here before.
ENJOY

SAVE A FOX
General | Posted 5 years agoJust letting folks know about one of my favorite channels on YouTube.
https://www.youtube.com/user/spookelliot
Save A Fox is a huge farm that is home for foxes rescued from a nearby fur farm where they would have been killed due to having defective fur.
Also a home for pet foxes being given up by their owners.
Lots of videos of really cute critters interacting with the main person who runs the place.
Recommended are videos featuring Finnegan Fox who loves attention and sounds like he's laughing.
Also Dakota, a coyote who loves toys and also is seen chewing on a pumpkin.
Plus they have some great merch including some cool shirts.
Check 'em out

Memories of Robert Hill
General | Posted 5 years agoIt was in August of 2018 that I last talked to Robert Hill online. He passed away in December of that year. The last thing I'd mentioned to him was asking if he'd seen this completed article that was done interview3ing him about fursuiting and the early days of fandom.
Check it out.

The internet can provide an odd sort of life after death. Someone mentioned recently receiving a suggestion that they add Robert as a friend on Facebook.
And in an odd coincidence the first reply to the last post on his page is from another friend Cindi Harrington (the artist Jimu) who passed away earlier this year.
I miss them both.

Return with us to those FURRY days of yesteryear
General | Posted 5 years agoTHE FANDOM: A FURRY DOCUMENTARY is a new film looking back at the history of furry fandom. Well worth checking out it features some interesting interviews plus some fun footage of early fandom & conventions (I even saw myself in the background a couple of times.) 😎
And it's available FREE on YouTube.

What Happened THIS TIME
General | Posted 6 years agoAs I mentioned in my last journal, I had returned home in early January after a 6 week hospital stay. Housebound and using a walker while I got my leg strength back.
Trouble was I was not getting better.
My legs were getting more painful and swollen and I even had to be rescued after a fall.
Another hospital stay came about when I fell out of bed.
My Lymphedema was causing my legs to bloat with water.
A couple of weeks in rehab got me back on my feet, feeling MUCH better also much stronger.
So I was in the hospital for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and my birthday.
The day before I was to come home, I got a call telling me my longtime friend Cindi Harrington, (artist name Jimu) had passed away.
I just want things to get back to normal in my life.
So look for me to start posting again soon.

What Happened?
General | Posted 6 years ago01/04/2020
Nice to know some folks missed me.
Mid November I was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, I was barely able to stand and unable to take even a sip of water without violently coughing.
The diagnosis turned out to be a combination of The Flu and Pneumonia. (And yes I had gotten the Flu shot this year)
Complications set in, I don't remember the first couple of weeks but I ended up in Intensive Care for a few days.
Finally getting well, they sent me to a rehab center.
My second day there I was suddenly unable to take a breath without pain.
I had developed blood clots in my lung, that was beyond what the center could treat so I was sent to another hospital.
More treatment and then finally back to the rehab.
After more than a month flat on my back, the great staff at the rehab got me back on my feet..
I had no access to e-mail or DA or FA during my hospital or rehab stays.
So now I'm home, still weak, getting around with a walker and likely housebound for a long while.
Very happy to be home but also having some bouts of depression feeling what little life I had has been lost.
My wonderful sister helped me through all this and is helping me still.
I'm hoping to get back posting here and also communicating with friends again.

It's terrifying and I'm guessing the general opinion on it will be "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?"

Could have been classic
General | Posted 6 years agoJust released, some really fantastic looking test animation for the cancelled film based on the Mouse Guard comic series.
It was one week away from going into production at Fox, just as they were bought by Disney.
So Mouse Guard was cancelled by the mouse.
