Slowdown ... almost over, I hope
General | Posted 11 years agoWelcome to all my new watchers! Unfortunately, I haven't posted a lot of art during the past three months or so, but I hope that will change soon.
Almost all the art of Dusty is commissioned, which of course means I have to pay for it with money. Lately I've had some pretty big bills to pay - car repairs, health insurance, back taxes, a traffic fine, replacements for my dead router and dead camera. So I haven't had much left over to commission art.
But I do have plans and ideas. And I do have more paydays on the horizon, now that the big bills have been paid. So keep watching - there will be more of Dusty soon!

The sound of crickets ...
General | Posted 12 years ago... is actually quite awesome.
Edit: My original post wasn't very informative. The link goes to a recording, where someone has slowed down the sound of crickets, to what it would be like if humans lived as quickly as they do. It's not what you might expect.

Bad Hair Day
General | Posted 12 years agoFortunately, Dusty rarely has it quite this bad.
Cats Don't Dance
General | Posted 12 years agoIf you've ever been a fan of the old school Warner Brothers funny animal cartoons - and what furry hasn't? - then you need to see this movie.
Made in 1996 by WB cartoonists, it lovingly pays homage to the glory days of the 40s and 50s Looney Tunes. The plot is simple enough - a young cat dreams of breaking into stardom in a late-thirties Hollywood dominated by humans. But the humans aren't interested - except for some, the baddies of course, who want to crush his dreams.
A feature-length musical cartoon extravaganza, it was released in 1996 with very little promotion, and flopped heavily at the box office. Most people haven't heard of it, including myself up until last week. But if you're a furry cartoon fan, this underrated gem is well worth your time!

Too much like work! Detailed roleplay information.
General | Posted 12 years agoSo, it seems that the good old Rabbit Hole, repository of kinks, is no more.
Accordingly, I've moved over to F-List. Finally completed my page, which, for anyone who's interested, looks like this.
Yes, I do roleplay - mostly on Furcadia, but sometimes on SecondLife, if I get tips on how to make my character worj there.
Dusty started off as a roleplay character, and while nowadays she mostly consists of commissioned art, she still plays from time to time.

Cat
General | Posted 12 years agoYesterday, I forgot to buy tuna for my cat.
So, I gave her a bowl of milk instead. She loved it.
Thirty minutes later, my cat VOMITED EVERYWHERE.
Today, I remembered to buy tuna.
(just bumping my weasyl rant off the front page - true story though)

To artists: Why I don't Weasyl
General | Posted 13 years agoWatchers/commissioners are not allowed to post copies of the pieces they paid for. Instead, they can only link to the artist's post, and then only if given permission by the artist.
This becomes a problem if the artist ever removes the post or rescinds permission. It also denies the commissioner the ability to feel in control of their own gallery.
There are also restrictions on posting commissioned pictures made by artists who are not members of Weasyl.
And of course, even if an artist *is* a member, watchers can't post pictures made by that artist before they joined - unless the artist goes to the trouble of uploading old art and giving the required permission.
Overall it is a site that I would prefer to avoid. I have commissioned over 90 paid pieces for my character through FA. I doubt I will ever commission a piece through Weasyl.

Or is it theft? You decide!
Update: I'm not so much upset by the use of the images - information is free, and I commission art for everyone's enjoyment!
However, that person's failure to acknowledge either the artists or myself is rude, so I've decided to ask F-List to remove the images.
Update 2: The moderators of F-list have kindly removed the stolen images, within less than an hour of being notified. They rock!
