Hey it's been a while! I enjoy coming back here every once in a while (though I actually check FA every day) to write little summaries of what I've been up to and how I'm feeling.

To follow up on my last post, I ended up not moving to the East Coast and stayed in Los Angeles. After going from one friend's house to another and finally sharing a 1BD apartment for several months, I'm moving back into my parents' house. They have come a really long way in accepting me! (I haven't told them that I like girls yet though... shh) We still have rough patches here and there but I'm just happy to have my own private bedroom again lol.

I had top surgery on May 4 (yeah yeah insert star wars joke) You can see the vent art I made for it here: click me! It went really well! My recovery was bumpy in the first week but smooth sailing afterward, just physically tiring and annoying at some parts (changing dressings and needing lots of help with things). I cannot express how happy and free I feel now... Reading about others' experiences pre-op, a lot of it didn't make sense to me but now I understand the calm joy of being able to have a flat chest forever and with me everywhere I go. I was doubtful of my decision leading up to it and even for a couple of weeks after, but now I think it's the greatest gift I've ever given to myself.

By the way, how is the pandemic treating everybody? My heart goes out to everyone who is still working and has to deal with stupid customers (or any customers, really). I've worked in retail for four years and I actually went on leave at the end of March because I needed to be healthy for my surgery. Then I worked one shift in June and it freaked me out so much that I immediately left again. I've been dealing with severe anxiety since last year, which finally hit its peak recently, and as part of my action plan to address it I decided to resign from my job.

I'm so grateful for this break. I've been working nearly nonstop since 2009 and have been experiencing burnouts with increasing frequency. Putting my health first is something I've always struggled with and this is one of the biggest steps I've ever taken.

I think this is the part where I'd normally say that commissions will be coming, but actually I think I want to enjoy my time off for a while... I'm still dealing with art anxiety anyway ^q^; However I'm still open for NSFW sketch requests on Twitter (see here for info), and I'm also thinking about streaming games occasionally??? We'll see!

OK, Cado, where the hell have you been?

Life happened. Ho ly shit. You can see me talking about a "startup company" in previous journals. Basically it ended badly as I realized I was feeling miserable, and had ended up in that situation because the reason I agreed to the whole thing was because I didn't want to disappoint the other person. I had fooled myself into thinking that doing what other people wanted would be enough to lead a fulfilling life, because I didn't know (or thought I didn't know) what else I wanted to do with myself. I was hardcore suppressing my wants and needs, and my mental health was getting worse. Finally I woke up... Some bridges were burned, but I'm much happier now just working in retail (I know, right?). Also, I officially came out as trans and started transitioning in Dec 2017!

Home life was not great for a long time as my parents are both unsupportive. My best friend took me in for several months, but now this house is up for sale, so I am planning to move to the northeastern United States later this year. I'll be closer to friends I haven't seen in ages/have never met IRL, and the cost of living is cheaper. At age 27 I'm finally going out into the world on my own, and it's kinda scary but also exciting? Above all, I'm doing my best to approach every day with curiosity, rather than fear/anger/regret.

I've been running nonstop for a long time and some things fell to the wayside, like posting on FA of course, but I still see your watches and favorites sometimes, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for continuing to support me.

These days I'm most active on Twitter (@/0steo) but I hope I can get back into drawing regularly soon. I miss it a lot, and I miss you. I hope you are well.

since the last journal HOLY SHIT

I'm sorry for being so quiet for so long!!!
I miss you guys! Even though I sign on nearly every day to look at everyone's beautiful/sexy art...

There's so many things I want to do, like commissions, work on closed species adopts, create more zines and even continue taking sketch requests.
But, realistically, I don't have time to focus on anything beyond small doodles these days. T_T; I cannot make any more promises. I don't want to tease anymore. I'm very sorry.

I got a part-time job at a certain office supply store in July (thank god, my most steady source of income since 2011) and I'm still helping manage my startup company... I'm even going back to school after 1 1/2 years' hiatus this winter/spring!! These are things that must take priority above all else, even art (though art, to me, is more of a coping tool than something I would consider a job).

I know, I know -- free time is not found, but made. Yet my energy level is also a factor. Maybe things will get better after I figure out how best to take care of myself.

Hey guys, long time no talk!!

Here's the life update:
I'll spare you the gnarly details, but as soon as I came back from my overseas trip last year, I joined a small startup company (~4 employees) with my longtime mentor and friend. But then barely 2-3 months into working, a whole bunch of personal drama started flaring up within the company. It was stressful and distracting and we kept clashing with each other. Finally, right before New Year's, one of the members abandoned the company and my mentor took over as CEO.

Now that the rest of us are working more efficiently, I'm really enjoying this job again. My daily life (and mental state) has stabilized so I finally have time to work on things I really enjoy. And I don't plan on going back to school until at least summer, so I finally have the most free time I've had in like, what, five years? @_@ wow

OK, now for commission news:
My to-do list hasn't moved or changed in months. I'm so terribly sorry for keeping you guys waiting.
My commissioners: I will contact you individually within the next 1-2 weeks and ask if you're still interested in me drawing for you, or if you'd like to cancel. (Or you can note me now if you don't want to wait even longer). I have not taken any payments from anyone.

I don't feel comfortable taking any new commissions after this because of how long I've kept so many people waiting. But that doesn't mean I'll never take them again. I need time to regroup.

TOS changes:
I'm planning to change my Terms of Service so I will require payment upfront in the future. Those who are already waiting for art from me will be unaffected by this change.

I might post some flat-price adopts soon... We'll see?? I've been kicking a closed-species idea around in my head lately.

My five-week study trip in Rome, Italy is finally coming to an end -- I fly back to the United States on Sunday! I had a bunch of fun, gained life experience and grew up a bit, but I am also very, very very ready to come home LOL

Even after I come home there'll be stuff to take care of like writing papers and uh getting over jetlag and settling in but after that I'll be FREEEEEEE

I literally have not drawn since I left home weeks ago... so I am looking forward to being reunited with my tablet!! tbh I could have tried to draw with my SP3 but... no time/energy sob

Also I've decided to take the next college semester off! My last semester was really rough and I really just want to focus on things I care about the most and make me happy LIKE DRAWING AND WRITING, and also improve my habits and mental/physical health o|-<
