I'm back, Weasyl, and other Junk
Posted 11 years agoI'M BACK! Hiatus over, wrist is better, all that fun stuff. I'll be uploading a few new things to my gallery, mostly a commission and a piece of gift art I got.
I DO have a Weasyl account(its under the same name =P), but I haven't kept my two galleries in sync. Over this weekend I'll upload my new stuff and synchronize both galleries, so you can easily find me in either place.
I'll be using both platforms, as I don't want to give up FA yet even with the steady drama as of late. But I want Weasyl to succeed, and I want it to push FA into improving itself, and thus we have competition that steadily makes MULTIPLE SITES better for everyone.
I should have some pre-made tails going in a week or two for sale. Been meaning to get a few of these going, and now is a good time.

Happy Holidays!
Posted 12 years agoSorry I haven't been around much folks, nor that I did a tail raffle for Christmas. My wrist's been out of commission since thanksgiving, healing slowly, but hope to be back in action early January.
But thats everything from me. I hope you all have a wonderful, safe holiday!

Caigan's Commission FAQ
Posted 12 years agoCommission F.A.Q.
GENERAL COMMISSION RELATED
1. How do I get a commission?
When I'm open for commissions, I'll post up a journal. The slots are first come first serve. To confirm a spot in the queue, I'll need to discuss with you your tail design, and after we agree on the design, an initial payment of $5. If we cannot agree on a design or on the initial payment, I will move on to the next person until all commission slots are filled.
2. Do you have a waiting list beyond the queue?
No. I do not want to leave people waiting a long time for a commission they put money down on. I do commissions in batches to give my hands a rest, or to test out new methods in between or deal with real life health issues.
3. Why the initial payment?
I personally do not like asking for all the money up front before even starting work on the tail. If difficulties arise in my ability to complete my commissions, I do not want to leave people hanging waiting for a refund from me.
This also is used to secure materials for your tail. You can see a more detailed explanation in the Yarn Colors part of the FAQ below.
4. When do I send the final payment?
When I finish your tail, I will message you with images, and the rest of the payment is due.
5. When can I ask for a refund?
Anywhere between the initial payment and when I begin working on your tail.
If you are unhappy with something with your tail when you receive it, please contact me to discuss!
6. Is there a shipping cost?
Yes, its $5 for shipping in the US. For international orders, please contact me so I can figure out the best price and reliability in shipping something to you!
7. Do you do trades?
Possibly. If I say in the journal I'm accepting trades for one of the slots, then feel free to discuss with me!
I usually accept trades in equivilant in art OR in steam games.
YARN TAIL RELATED
1) What materials do you use?
My crochet yarn tails comprise of four parts : Core Yarn, Fur Yarn, Filling, and Attachment
The Core Yarn is a sturdy Medium Weight yarn, 100% acrylic.
The Fur Yarn is what comprises most of the bulk. For Sleek Fur, this is almost always 100% acrylic yarn. For Shaggy Fur, it is either 100% acrylic, or an acrylic/nylon or acrylic/wool blend depending on the color. Custom fur texture yarns can vary wildly and can be discussed with me!
The Filling is 100% polyster fiberfill used in dolls and plushes.
The Attatchment is usually a small metal carabiner. This is NOT climbing safe equipment, it is made specifically for crafts like these.
2) How long does it take for you to finish a tail.
From start to finish, it takes me anywhere from half a day to four days, depending on real life situations and tail complexity.
3) Why does Shaggy Fur cost more?
Shaggy fur is a more expensive yarn, and takes a bit longer to work with to look well.
4) Why does Long Fur cost more?
Long fur takes extra material and a good chunk of more time to brush out.
5) Why do Stripes, Streaks, and Spots cost more?
These finer details take time to plan to look decent and slows down creation of the tail.
6) Why do more than 2 colors cost more?
The major factor is time. When planning out more than two colors, it increases the time to create the tail, especially when organizing four or more colors.
A NOTE ABOUT YARN COLORS
Color Availability
Sleek fur comes in a much broader range of colors than Shaggy Fur.
Dye Lots
Yarn comes in skeins, and for a single color tail, it can take up to 3/4ths of a skein or more. When more colors are used, it takes less of a single skein, but I have to acquire more skeins.
Yarn skeins are dyed in lots. The same color in one lot can end up noticeably different. So leftover yarn from an older lot might not match a newer lot exactly, so a tail using yarn from two different dye lots can end up looking patchy and off.
THIS FAQ IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS

Tainted Sweet Meat's Raffle !
Posted 13 years agoWhere I've been and What I'm doing now!
Posted 13 years agoHah I haven't a journal in a long while! To my friends and watchers, here's whats going on with my life.
Last August I basically went to the hospital because my intestines exploded. Not going into too fine detail, I was probably only a few days away from death, and I didn't have many symptoms other than exhaustion and insomnia.
I spent a month in the hospital, had three surgeries, lost 200 pounds, had a giant open wound on my stomach, and had half my intestines disconnected to let them heal. I later went back in December to get on IV Nutrition (absolutely no food intake, only max 1 cup of water a day) until the middle of March.
Now, come May, I'm about 90% back to normal. The wound is almost fully closed finally, I'm back to eating normal meals, and I have upcoming xrays to plan the last surgery I need to reconnect my intestines and hopefully finish with this long running madness.
So yeah, thats where I've been!
What I'm doing now, though, is I've started doing Let's Plays on my youtube channel! http://www.youtube.com/user/CaiganM.....g?feature=mhee
I have Let's Plays going of Happy Wheels, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, Minecraft, and of the Torchlight 2 Beta! Check em out please =)

Holy Smokes! Where have I been?!
Posted 17 years agoWell, I'll tell you. Last couple months have been hectic, so Ill give ya guys a basic rundown. Warning you, this will be long as I haven't written a journal in a while so it'll be a bit rambly. =)
The Call
April, my mate,
erdenshire, gets contacted by a company for an interview. He starts with a phone interview, then does a skill assessment test, then before we know it, they are flying BOTH of us halfway across the country, putting us into a very nice hotel, paying for our food and transportation, all so they can interview him in person.
We get back, and the next day, they call him and tell him he's hired. Wooo! He starts at the beginning of June, so we have about 5 weeks to get packed.
The Move
Since Erdie's contract with Intel wasn't up yet, he couldn't start getting ready properly till the second week of may. Doesn't leave us a lot of time, neh?
Here's a problem. You have two furs who are also pack rats, who also happen to procrastinate once in a while, and you have a pretty bad combo. We didn't realize how much junk we had till we started sorting through it, getting rid of what we didn't need, and boxing up what we did. We ended up with 30+ boxes, many a decent size...Uh oh.
Well, we ran some math, moving from Oregon to Wisconsin, using a moving truck and having our friend drive us and fly back, with current gas prices....ouch. So we did the math on other options, and here's what we came up with :
Ship everything through Fedex
Travel by train.
Why train? Because while my fursona is cutely short, in reality I'm over 6'4" with a big frame...flying sucks for me, unless I get an exit row seat, and even then its not a happy ride. Plus, train travel was much cheaper, and we got to see the country through our window. It was very beautiful!
We shipped the boxes in groups of 8-10 on separate days, so that they'd get delivered on separate days, and headed off to our new home!
The Arrival
So, travel by train was awesome, if a bit sleep deprived. Comfortable but way too warm at night to sleep. We somehow managed to get a family room for almost 300 dollars cheaper than a tiny 2 person roomette, cause we loaded the website 'just' as it opened up.
We get to Chicago, and spend a couple hours hanging out with Erd's mother, who is all kinds of awesome. She brought us clothing, razors, wheels for our heavy heavy luggage that didn't have any, and gifts. She is 100 kinds of win.
We bus to our new home from Chicago : Madison, WI. Get picked up by our new roommates,
nowan and his mate. Great guys and very awesome friends. Our computers beat us here, but with no desks and no switches and routers to get us online properly, internet would have to wait.
We eventually get desks, get our room situated and computers online, and wait for our stuff to arrive.
Saturday, it says its in the city....but has a "delivery exception, delivery rescheduled"....wha?
All our packages have this, and at 7 am on Wednesday morning, Fedex calls us and tells us they'll deliver it on Saturday...SATURDAY?! They were annoyed we had so many boxes taking up room, and wanted to deliver them. We asked if they could just grab some of them and deliver them today, so, you know, we could get them sorted and out of the way?
Nope...instead at 8:30 pm yesterday, they came with EVERY LAST BOX WE HAD. Over 30 boxes! We spent 4 hours just getting things sorted, situated, and out of the way, since that many boxes basically blocked off most the living room here.
But we're finally moved in fully and settled in. I have my tablet, but I don't know if it survived the trip, we'll see in a few hours. If it didn't...I dunno, will have to get a new one I guess.
Anyways, enough rambling from me. Time for me to get some breakfast then make sure my stuff works. =D
The Call
April, my mate,

New account Info
Posted 17 years agoHey folks, I've been meaning to do this since I first joined FA, but being the lazy wolf I am, never got around to it until now.
Some time today I'm going to be moving all my adult artwork to my other account -
kowaferret
Why separating them? Mostly cause I feel I should, since I also do colorings of Ozy and Millie. There's no real big reason I guess, I just felt I wanted a separate Adult and Clean gallery.
Why now? Cause I've been practicing inking stuff on my own for a bit, getting back into it, and will probably start posting some inkings and maybe colorings of artwork (especially some of
ruaidri 's awesome work) again. I also have some non-adult stories I need to clean up and put up sometime soon as well.
So, again :
