Posted a month agoHello! Been a while! The Patreon-linked Discord has been going well: https://www.patreon.com/c/Cainiam, and I've been consistently selling out slots since I opened it back in March. I took a slot through FA for the first time this week and noticed my commission information on here is a bit out of date, so I've revamped it.
Commission slots open on Monday on my Discord, and if there is more interest than available slots, I will do a spin on Friday to decide who gets the slots. I have 3-4 slots, and if anything was not completed the previous week, then it will be pushed to the next week, though this is very rare. I advertise on my Patreon-linked Discord first, and if slots don't sell, I'll put a journal on FA, but you can message me if you want to be on a waitlist. I'll prioritise Patreon/Discord, but if you're on the waitlist, if I have a spare slot, I'll hit you up. 1-4 thousand words is $25 a K.
5-7 thousand is $35 a K.

Anything I go over the agreed amount will not be charged, but if your request is not doable in the word count, I will discuss this and, if necessary, omit things to make it fit. We can then negotiate re-adding these after for additional payment.
On completion, I will send you a snippet of the fic, usually the first scene, to confirm it is done. I will then invoice you, and once paid, I will send the fic. Paying in instalments is acceptable, but I will split it so you receive part of the fic per instalment. If you have any pending payments with me then I will not allow you to claim a slot, sorry, that's just business.
Turnaround time is to aim for the following Friday when I reopen, but if it is not possible due to events going on, then they will be put on the priority list of the following week. Hopefully, I will never be in a situation where you are kept waiting for a 3rd week, but I cannot guarantee it 100%. I will do fics in order of slot as long as I have the fic requests in before Monday; otherwise, there may be shuffling based on what I am ready to start and what I am not ready to start.
As for kinks, anything goes. I will publish your fic unless you tell me otherwise, but it will slot into my existing schedule. I upload fics on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday, so there is usually a backlog of several weeks. There is no fee for keeping things private.

Commissions are closed, thanks for the interest. I will be taking a break the week after that to work on personal projects for the week of the 24th. Then, in the week of the 31st, I will be back at comms, but slots will go through Patreon 24 hours before they go up here on FA if any are left.
Now for the usual T&Cs: If you get a commission, I will not guarantee your slot's completion by Friday. If slots are still pending from the previous week, they will go into the next week. Also, I will not be taking Comms over Notes. Unless you comment on the journal, you will not get a slot.

As a now full-time writer/game designer for hopefully as long as I can be, I need to start making money in order to continue to produce content. I have been taking Commissions weekly as I'm sure you've noticed, which was Phase 1. Phase 2 of the plan is this Patreon. What I end up doing through Patreon really depends on how much money it makes. I may tie Commissions to it in the future, but as of right now I'll continue with the current model for at least another week.
Now for some questions I'm sure you're wondering:
Does this mean you'll stop uploading fics?
No, of course not. I'll still be writing and endeavour to maintain a three upload a week schedule for content.
What is through the Patreon?
Basically the Patreon currently is for Game Over fics produced every 2 weeks, and Quest games which I would love to produce monthly but as of right now I can't guarantee that with 4 comm slots needed a week to comfortably make rent. Still Quest Games will be produced for it and the Game Over fics that result will be released on Furaffinity publicly so that's more content for you.
Quest Games?
That's right, the Text Adventure game creator that's basically a fossil at this point but I still use as it's what I'm familiar with and it works for me, dammnit. But yes, there should be more Quest games in future HOWEVER this will be gated content. I will ALWAYS release a public demo so viewers will get some content, but the rest will be paywalled behind the Patreon.
So you're going to start paywalling your content?
I will be paywalling the full versions of Quest games. I need to have something to give to my patrons as they'll be funding the entire development of the Quest Games as they're paying for me to not do comms so I can work on this stuff without going homeless. BUT you non-subs will still get the demo access so you are getting MORE content than you would have gotten otherwise as these games would not be produced without the Patreon.
Where do you see this going?
Well my ambition has always been more with the Game Design side than the fic side, I just have never had the time or place to really hone those skills. If this does take off then that is where I will be looking to next. Moving from Quest to learning other gaming software and maybe even sprite art.

Consumers is the tier for actually playing the Quest Games produced. Consumers also get all Voters rights.
Influencers are the ones who suggest the options for the polls, and will get WIP builds of the Quest game in progress.
All Patron tiers come with Discord access and I will reply to things there. I am notoriously flaky on social media but I will do my best to reply to people and if I'm being bad at it, feel free to call me out.

Thank you all for the interest. Comms are now closed again. I'll reopen with another journal on Friday 14th!
Commissions are open and once again I'm going to make some revisions. When I had the thought of taking commissions, the plan was to have time for personal projects as well but that just hasn't happened so I'm going to be playing with the format. I'm cutting the slots from 5 to 4. Since rent is a fixed amount though, I need to make up for the shortfall of the last day so I will be raising prices. The short commissions thing never really panned out so I will be taking that idea and migrating it to a Patreon I will hopefully be setting up soon. So I'm moving to a 2 band structure to not go straight into a flat price.
If you get a commission I will not be guaranteeing your slot's completion by Friday. Instead when I reopen next week if slots are still pending from the previous week, then they will take the first few slots of the new slots in the next week. Also I will not be taking Comms over Notes. I did not make this rule clear so the first person who did note me with a very compelling reason why they couldn't I have accepted their comm, but I will not do so again in future. Turnaround time is to aim for next Friday when I reopen, but if it is not possible due to events going on then they will be put to the priority of the following week. I hopefully will never be in a situation where you are kept waiting for a 3rd week, but I cannot guarantee it 100%. It is first come first served on slots. I will do fics in order of slot as long as I have the fic requests in before Monday, otherwise, there may be shuffling based on what I am ready to start and what I am not ready to start. I will not be utilising a slot 6 method in future as I hinted at before, there are only 5 slots and when they are gone they are gone until next week.
As for kinks, anything goes. I will publish your fic unless you tell me otherwise but it will slot into my existing schedule. I upload fics on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday so there may be a backlog. There is no fee for keeping things private.

Thank you all for the interest! Slots are now closed and the final results are at the bottom. I'm keeping this journal up for archival purposes.
I'm excited to announce the opening of writing commissions! I am opening 5 slots, and will aim to open 5 slots every Friday for at least a few months. The pricing right now is done in a band structure based on thousand words or K's so it works as below:
1-2 thousand words is $15 a K.
2-5 thousand is $20 a K.
5-10 thousand is $25 a K.
And you move through the bands so full pricing is:
1K $15
2K $30
3K $50
4K $70
5K $90
6K $115
7K $140
8K $165
9K $190
10K $215
Anything I go over the agreed amount will not be charged but if your request is not doable in the word count I will discuss this and if necessary omit things to make it fit. We can then negotiate readding these after for additional payment.

Taking a Break

I've been using the whole Coronavirus situation which has had me home working since March to give me drive and time for writing, knowing that when things revert to normal it'll be harder to keep things going. With that as motivation I've managed a pretty consistent upload schedule for the past 6 months, however as the situation has gone on and on it's gotten harder and harder to maintain drive. As this looks increasingly like the status quo for a while I've lost a lot of motivation, that and I'm getting pretty tapped for ideas.
I always find this time of year unproductive anyway, as the November Video Game Season is all set to kick off which is only going to drag me down harder, and then the madness that is Christmas. So I'm going to take a break for a bit. Not going to worry about uploads for the next few weeks, possibly months. If I make anything I'll put it up, but I'll mostly devote any drive that flares up into Ace Attorney Part 2 in the hopes of having that ready to kickstart a return to form.
Apologies if anyone's counting on these regular uploads. If you see anything from me it'll be sporadic until the new year, and then I'll hopefully ride that New Year's Resolution into productivity for a bit. I'll keep an eye on my FA so if anyone has any questions or anything, send me a Note or comment here or whatever. See you guys around!

Never really written a journal on here. I'm real bad at talking to people I don't know, which is why I haven't really put a journal up yet. Also I'm inconsistent with replying to comments and I apologise if I never really reply to you, it's not personal. I do appreciate comments all the same. Anyway, things have been going well with my weekly uploads, yay. However things have not been going well with writing Clarissa Clarion Ace Attorney Part 2, boo. Now I don't know how many people care about my output being weekly, or might be sitting around eagerly awaiting Ace Attorney Part 2 so I got 2 suggestions for how to help me get the time in on the Quest game, or a 3rd option for keep the status quo:
Option 1: I switch to a Biweekly Schedule. Upload a fic every second Sunday for a couple of months and use the other week to work on the Quest game.
Option 2: I take the next month off writing completely, and put it all into getting Part 2 of Ace Attorney done. No uploads for a month, but afterwards I'll hopefully have the Quest game done within the month.
Option 3: Continue as we are and I'll maybe sometimes work on it when I have a fic done. Definitely would be the longest time scale as it hasn't worked so well yet.
Anyway I could do any of them, so figured I'd see if anyone here had any preferences. Don't know who watches me for the fics, or is just wanting more of that Attorney Action or might be down for a compromise on both sides. I'll declare which one I go with in a few days, but if anyone has any comments or inputs or whatever I will make a point of replying to comments here. Though not immediately as posting this then going to bed. Toodles!
