Thought dump
General | Posted 11 years agowell one of my fillings from last year didn't work out. I am getting that tooth pulled tomorrow.
I miss doing math on a near daily basis. Even if it was just X=1-X or variations of Index = MaxX*Y+X.
I miss being in a relationship. I have a few close friends but its not really the same. I don't even really know what I am looking for any more. Lets just say winter and spring have made me think about different things. To behonest I am not sure if I am really ready for a relationship.
I went biking with wendell wolf (furballsuit) and anothee friend a couple of times this past week. I did realise how much I missed biking. I managed to get to what felt like the speed I used to get to in college. I need to remember what gears I used to get up hills.
I need to get a new job.
The building I live in is for sale. We don't have a lease and don't pay what our place is worth for rent. So we are not sure how long we will be able to live here.

Usb tuner fun: Tracking Air planes.
General | Posted 12 years agoI broke out my RTL-SDR adapter again. This time I decided to try out something different. There is a program out there for these radio receivers that allow you to decode transmissions from a newer type of air plane transponders called ADS-B (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_dependent_surveillance-broadcast ).
So now I can look at in real time some of the airplane traffic in the surrounding counties and its totally legal.
If you want to check out how this is done there is a ton of information here:
http://www.rtl-sdr.com/adsb-aircraf.....-with-rtl-sdr/
The adapter I have is from http://www.nooelec.com/
If you want to see what planes are in the area you can view them on: http://www.flightradar24.com/

Photography account.
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm taking the advice of
Furballsuit and putting my other account to use. So I'm going to be using my
cajaka account for uploading photos from events and general fursuiting. I might put up some other photography there as well.

General | Posted 12 years agowe finally got a proper snow fall out where I live. There has to be at least 8 inches of powder out there. Despite a near 3 mile walk home tonight I still want to get out in it tomorrow and do something.I don't have any gear really for it but I feel like gong out sledding or tromping around in the stuff tomorrow. maybe I'll just go out and take some photos in the park. I really just want to go out and play a bit.

Bead work sale.
General | Posted 12 years ago
Mistingwolf Is selling off a few of her completed bead works. The money is going to help fund her first con trip. See the details here: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/12720778/I am The Mint Army!
General | Posted 12 years ago... And my army shall rise again to power.
So I've gone back to playing Dragon Cave / Yarold's exchange after years of absence. Apparently some one has bested my collection of mint dragons in Dragon Cave. So I have come out of hiding to increase my numbers of mints on my scroll. The original Mint Army will raise again. It also turns out I still hold a record on the site held by one of my dragons for the number of profile views.

Nightmare Scenario
General | Posted 12 years agoSo after meeting up with
furballsuit furs in the area are kind of coming out of the woodwork. I pointed out a job that opened up in the plaza I work at to one of them. Which they did get. Apparently they stopped by the store I work at when I wasn't working and chatted up some of my coworkers. One of the topics that was brought up in the conversation was furries. In their words my co-workers that he spoke with are open to the idea of furries.
I have no idea what was said or whether they outed me. Its becoming more and more apparent that this fur has no idea when it is and is not appropriate to talk about things. My boss has no problem harassing and antagonising people till they quit. Its already bad enough now. If he finds out about me being a furry I am so screwed. Its like they've put a ticking time bomb at my work.
I had to take anti-anxiety medicine to be able to go to work yesterday and today. Just typing this out is causing a mild amount of anxiety.
TL;DR, Personal drama.

Accounts that have gone silent.
General | Posted 12 years agoSomething that I having been thinking about doing is going through my watch list and seeing whom all has left the sight.Recent events have given me reason enough to do it. What follows here is a list of accounts that have been gone silent for the past year, cleared out, been disabled or the owners have said their good byes.
It is not my intention to start drama of the reasons as for why these accounts are silent. It is just to bring attention to their absence. Please do note comment with rumors for why they have left.

It is possible these furs have moved accounts without leaving a trail or disabling their old account. I've seen it a couple of times. if so just note me or comment.

I've watch the progress of many artists at they learn the skill and hone their craft. It been quite the time. There will be more interesting times to come.
Feel free to ask any question you want I'll be around all day.

Busy Season
General | Posted 12 years agoIts been a busy few weeks and not just because of work. A couple of weekends I went to a local furry Christmas party with Wendell Wolf ( Furballsuit ) and Shadowfoot. It was pretty fun I think people started nodding off around 4 or 5 am.
Christmas my step dads family came over we did their exchange of presents. The weekend after we went to my sisters place to have our christmas there. My brother and his family came over but didn't stay too long. I guess my nephew was just in too fussy of a mood. I did find out my neice has a corner of her room setup around the stuffed animals I've given her. I think he suggested she might have to many... Nah.
For gifts this year I got a couple of books, "Number Theory and Its History" and "The Principia : Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy." I also got a pack of Hero fountain pens (http://amzn.com/B00E1XNOZU). I also got a 2 meter band preamp kit for my scanners. I also got the camera module for my Raspberry Pi.
Spent New Years eve with my college friends up in Columbus we ended up hanging out with their tenants most of the night. New Years day we went out to Jungle Jims. The web site does it no justice. This place is a international market / roadside attraction. We spent the entire afternoon there, no joke.
Edit:
Also found out something interesting this afternoon. We had a few inches of undisturbed powder around the apartment. With cool temperatures and clear skys our south facing windows became Solar Death Rays of Snowflake Doom. The slightly concaved surface of our windows reflected suns energy into a bright line. As the sun moved across the sky it melted a small trench in the snow. We have this nice set of arcs outside our windows.

Traditional Art Group
General | Posted 12 years agoThere is a group here being formed up by
ruaidri for traditional artists,
traditionalart . To quote from the groups profile:
"This aim of this group is to provide a place for traditional artists to share their knowledge, pick up new ideas, gain or provide critique for pictures, and hopefully find some cool new traditionally drawn art to look at. If you've got a love for art done the old fashioned way, this is the place for you!"
Currently they are looking for and featuring different traditional art techniques. Something to check out if you're into traditional art or looking to get into traditional art.

Looks like we won't be seeing comet ISON. From the news it looks like it didn't survive it trip around the sun.
http://www.astronomy.com/news/2013/12/comet-ison-dies-as-it-rounds-the-sun
I think I found a use for a math paper I wrote back in college. It might be used to prove a math function could be used for password hashing.
If you want an explanation of what hashing is watch these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4b8ktEV4Bg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZtInClXe1Q
At the last minute we managed to hired a really good sales woman. The bad news is she is exactly what I "look" for in a woman.. and married. I need to look on the bright side. Just like early exoplanet hunting, each time you find one, it just means its more likely to be others out there.
I survived Black Friday for the 6th year. This also means my 3 month job is going into month 72.
ooo I found out how to do horizontal bars on here.

$521k, DB7 has ended but...
General | Posted 12 years agothe dust has yet to settle. Donations are still coming in. The crew of 40+ people and thousands of donors across the world have shown again their generosity.
The end was kind of bitter sweet this year. They thanked all those involved it takes almost an hour to do. There was the traditional crashing of the bus then fade to black. As many movie goers know the end isn't always the end.
After a few minutes the stream came back on. Most of the lights had been turned off. The room that for the past 6 1/2 days had been the center of activity was empty except for a single crew member. He began reading a rather somber entry from "Sum: Tales from the Afterlives" (http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=0TYdCyyir2IC&pg)
The lights went black for the final time till next year.
I've been crying ever since.
Earlier today a discussion had started about why the people had joined up with the marathon. You can watch it all here, it get a little heavy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sA6FVW7Rg4
The women in the background with the red shirt is one of the founding members mother. If memory serves the first Desert bus for hope was done in her basement. At the end of video she begins to break down. What followed was her revealing that her son Bill had been diagnosed with Huntington's disease 10 years prior. I can't describe the impact of that on the ~2300 watchers of the stream.

General | Posted 12 years agoThe marathon is in its final 24 hours. They have completed just under 133 hours of continuous streaming. It looks like they will finish out some where at 152 hours. They actually had a crew from Allen Schauffler of Al-Jazeera America come in to record a segment. You can watch it here:

Desert bus for hope day 2, $125k
General | Posted 12 years agoThe crew at Desert bus are still going strong. They are just finishing there 50TH hour of playing. Raising $125,609 dollars. Looks like tonight's call-ins will be Bobak Ferdowsi aka Mohawk Guy from NASA and Grant Imahara. See more details of the event at desertbus.org . If can not donate you can always help spread the word.
A couple of charity drives going on.

toddlergirl Is doing art to raise money to help the Philippines typhoon victims. You can see the main details in her journal here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5248891/ check her other journals for updates on this. Last stated she has raised just shy of $1,000. Just a couple more commission would put her over. Also this week LoadingReadRun is doing their annual Desert Bus for Hope marathon. For the 7th year they are raising money for books, toys, movies and games to give to children's hospitals world wide. They are in hour 28 of over 150 hours of 24/7 streaming. They are currently standing at over $74k in donations. You can find more details and watch these folks become the puppets of the internet at http://www.desertbus.org
This something I look forward to every year so I will be posting more about this as they forgo sleep and sanity for the children.
Had a fun weekend.
General | Posted 12 years agoWendell (
Furballsuit) and I hung out Sunday. We ended up going to a couple of movies and I showed him an old haunted railroad tunnel out in the middle of no where Ohio. Its part of Rails to Trails so there is public access. Nothing like getting to get way out into the woods. It was also cool that I got to see more of his fursuit work.

General | Posted 12 years agoSo today we had a woman and her three year old son were shopping in the store. Now i am rather awkward around kids. So just imagine, the woman was looking at a product we talked about. Her son reaches up to grab my hand to show me something. Being kind of awkward, like I said, I tried to move my hand just slightly out of his reach. He gently grabs ahold of just my pinky. I am then led to our stack of RC trucks. The boy wanted to show me "his truck".
I can see this as a bear or another larger built fur being lead, much against their will, by a finger. Their expression would be, "help I'm being kidnapped by a rugrat".
* Added to my drawing ideas list.
