I guess really what I am trying to say is there are be people out there that care and just don't know how to express it or help.

Factoring Idea.
General | Posted 12 years agoYears ago i can across the RSA factoring challenge( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSA_numbers ). RSA is a cryptography algorithm and a computer security company. The company put out a challenge to factor a 100 digit long number that was the result of multiplying 2 prime numbers back in 1991.
This operation is part of whats required to break their encryption. Basically when the size of their numbers versus the computational expense of factoring the numbers gets to low they start using longer numbers. I had an idea on how to factor these numbers what I believed to be significantly faster then brute force.
My idea was to reverse doing long hand multiplication. The idea was that the only numbers that effect the one digit in result is the ones digits in the two multiples.
EX: yy? * xx? = xxxxx9
If there where only prime numbers used to come up with the final number it leaves only two possible combinations for its factors ones place. Either 1 and 9 or 7 and 7. Either of those would take care of the ones place.
For the next place you would sweep through the combinations looking for another pair of numbers that would result in a number equal to the first two digits.
I finally sat down and made a program to try this out. It works but its slow. While it does rapidly eliminate large chunks of possible numbers. It doesn't work fast enough. I am thinking it may get a speed boost in working with base 16 versus base 10.
There are parts in how this was programmed that require string conversions. This is to check that the last digits of the result are "0". with working in base 16 this can be done with an AND statement. The down side is the number get larger then the storage types available.
It was worth looking into.
Edit:
Once nice thing with this setup though is it is extremely easy to distribute to other computers. Processing part of it requires no knowledge of any other previous attempts. Give it two possible ends of numbers and off it goes.
Edit2:
If i wrote this out as an actual paper would any one be interested in seeing it?

Furlaxation report
General | Posted 12 years agoThings went great with Furlaxation. Being a relatively local con Wendell(Furballsuit) and I didn't have a room at the con hotel. We just drove back and forth. One of his friends let us use his room as a secure place to store things.
I was only able to go on Saturday and Sunday. Its hard to remember everything. First thing we really did was he joined in the suit parade. The had the meet up at the con suit. That kind of started to fill up when we go to there... so did the hall... The staff moved the meeting location outside of the hotel. There was about 74 suiter's by our count. The over all registration for attendees was in the 280's. So about 1/4 of the furs there had access to a fursuit. For the most point we just roamed around while he was in suit. It was fun to watch all the suiters interact.
During one break in the headless lounge Wendell was given a squeaky toy by wildeyes.rajal. After a bit I came up with an idea and pinned a sheet with "Squeak interpreter" written on it to my shirt. It was rather short lived after I realized the, "Deaf school reunion", might find it insensitive. The next con I go to I am going to do it again. The idea was rather fun.
When looking in artist alley the first artist I looked at right next to the door had a small sign listing subjects they would not work on. First on the list "babyfurs", its was kind of a slap to the face and put me off of buying any art at all. I felt like I would have to do homework to see if any artist I did like there was babyfur tolerant. In retrospect I don't know why that really upset me. I watch plenty of artists with the same restriction I don't hold it against them.
I watched the variety show was rather fun. They also had a demonstration of the equipment used in fire dancing. Originally it was supposed to be a fire dancing demo but the performer had suffered some injuries at work. She was going to cancel but there was so much interest she just demonstrated the equipment that is used.
Sunday Wendell and I both went to the intro to ham radio session. I guess I peek a little interest with things. I was listening to a scanner in one ear most of the time we were at the con. I also watched the fursuit "games." No one was really competing it was more structured silliness. Ex: one fur tried to belly crawl himself and a chair back into musical chairs. ... it didn't work.
I did end up going to the closing ceremony for con. I wasn't planning on it, but hey why not. We stuck around for the 11th hour dance and the con after party.
The only down side other the hotel as far anyone knew didn't have any snack machines and while they did have a restaurant it seemed to be open only during certain hours. Its something to plan for next year.
All together I did have fun.
Edit:
There are two after effects I'm experiencing I thinking it has to do with how much I hung around fursuiters. One furry art seems to have more depth and life. Two, work seemed odd because there were no anthros around.
Edit 2: A little of a rewrite since its ok to put a name to the local fur I've been talking about.

Giving Furlaxation a go
General | Posted 12 years agoAnother opportunity to go further with the furry community. The local that offered a ride up to the furmeet last month is driving back and forth to Furlaxation and offered yet again to let me ride with him. Trying yet again to break out of my comfort zone (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3494681/) I'm taking up his offer.
I've never seen anyone I watch talk about this con I guess that's a given since this is its rather young. I'll just have to see who I run into. I'm only able to go Sat and Sunday. Better then nothing right?

Went to a Furmeet :)
General | Posted 12 years agoSo about a month ago I manned up and sent a note off re-introducing myself to the artist I talked about in this journal,
"Playing dumb" He was cool with everything.
The other day he sent note generously giving me the opportunity to ride up with him to a furmeet near where we live. I just so happened to have the day off so I was able to take him up on the offer.
It was pretty fun meeting with a whole bunch of furs with about dozen fur suiters. After a small delay we started to walk up to road a mile to a local pizza place. It was fun watching peoples reactions and taking photo's. Most people's reactions fell in to two types confusion or amusement.
I am defiantly going to see about getting another Saturday off to join up again :)

lenscrafters ftw.
General | Posted 12 years agoSo the area my mother goes to for therapy on her shoulder just so happens to have a lens crafters across the street.. should have a new pair of glasses in an hour or so.
I can't see
General | Posted 12 years agoMy glasses broke today and I don't have a backup pair. Right now I am sitting at arms length at a 50 inch display zoomed in to max in Chrome to be able to see what I am typing. If I could get a new pair tomorrow it wouldn't be soon enough. This is so frustrating.
Radio Holiday
General | Posted 12 years agoContinuing on from last night the Ham radio field day is going on till 8 pm tonight. This is a yearly event where Ham radio operators try to make as many contacts with each other across the globe. So if you want to see how far radio transmitters can be heard and you have a good full band short wave radio (15khz to 30,000khz) tune in and check things out.
Here is a chart of freqencys they will be using.
http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Hambands_color.pdf
Also you can here some really distorted voices during this because of the using of certain types of transmissions.

The brownie game.
General | Posted 12 years agoI made the first batch of brownies for the weekend last night. We never precut our pans of brownies which leads to a bit of a game. The rules are simple you can cut a piece any size and never take the last piece. progressively the pieces get smaller and smaller. The last piece ends up only being an inch or less in size. I had the thought earlier this would all be a bit more entertaining if the pan was a golden rectangle.
Listless night.
General | Posted 12 years agoIts nights like this in college that I would do laps around campus. Save for the rare skunk or deer nothing else would be moving around campus. I would walk 3 or more miles just for something to do.
Jack comic casting call. (closed)

drip_rat Who does the comic Jack, http://www.pholph.com/, is doing an open casting call to be a citizen of hell in a future story arc. If you haven't started to read this comic it is a good one to check out. Details for the Hell casting call: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4678192/
vinci_nicolaides is collaborating with Drip on this story arc she is holding a similar casting call for cherubs in heaven: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4679238/
The question is do you chose heaven or do you choose hell?
(you can choose both btw)
Trip idea
General | Posted 12 years agoAfter chatting with a customer for a bit I found out its possible to go by train from Cincinnati to Chicago spend the morning and afternoon there and then return all within in 30 hours. I could literately do this if I have the right day off. The cost isn't really all that bad considering not needing a hotel room or having to deal with the gas. I talked to my parents and some friends of mine and we are all considering doing it. I'd do it next weekend but the logistics of getting a ride home from Cinci at 3 am might be a little tough.
On a side note if I wanted to take a week I could travel from Cinci, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Washington, Charlotesville and back for about $250 + two nights stay in hotels. I think I can cut things down a smidge if i keep playing with the system.
Edit: So between now and April 2014 there is only one opening for a their bedroom with private bathroom/shower. I realize this is the line from New York to Chicago but its that popular.
Edit 2: We don't have a set date for this but I wanna do now.. now... Now... NOW.
Also I worked out the loop I'd leave at 1:20 ish am in Cinci on a Monday get to Chicago at 10 am then leave at 6:pm for Washington arrive just after noon on Tuesday spend the night and leave on the Wednesday 11:00 am train and be back in Cinci at about 1:20 ish am.

Signal Boost: Gas Money Commissions
General | Posted 12 years agoThree friends of mine are in a little pinch because of the hike in gas prices in their area. They have some low cost commissions going on. If you have a little bit to spare check out what they are offering in these journals.

playing dumb
General | Posted 12 years agoso for the second or third time a local furry came threw about doing electrical wiring for their suits. Just like the previous times I played dumb about the fandom. As much as I could use more friends local I'm to afraid to be outted as a babyfur to say anything.
The artist keeps things just obscure enough when talking that nothing stands out saying "hey I'm a furry". So they are just as interested in keeping their privacy as I am.
I've already seen their FA page nothing odd about them. I'm a chicken.

I saw a few news images of the bombing and it was pretty gruesome. and that meant that there is high risk of hemorrhagic shock so... I'm just spreading this out to help out. >_<; "

A little anecdote
General | Posted 12 years agoThe comic book store in the town near where my grandparents had an amusing sign for the stores hours Monday - Saturday everything was normal. Sunday was something diffrent that I have never seen done before. "Sunday - Go to church, come back and we'll be open."
Not that we ever went there on a Sunday. That was always a day for being with family growing up.

Minecraft and math
General | Posted 13 years agoSo earlier this week I came across a modern recreation of the programing language I used to work with when I was a teen. Its been about a years since I put together a little playlist utility. Unlike most of the programing languages I've come across this version has really easy commands for dealing with clients and servers over the internet. So I deiced to mess with Minecraft.
I am using an programming add-on for an alternative Minecraft server call Bukkit. Raspberry Juice is a PC add-on to emulate the programming interface and commands for the RaspberryPi version of Minecraft.
What I've done so far is made a program that creates a ripple pattern around a point. It looks like the ripples caused when you drop a pebble into water. The ripples get smaller and closer together the further away from the center point. It covers and area about 201 x 201 units.
I used the Pythagorean theorem to find the distance from the center a point is then used this to figure out how high above or below ground level to put the block
Z = INT(COS(a * rad * 70 * (a / 360)) * 8 * ((100 - a) / 100)) + player_z
a - the distance from the center point of the grid : a = INT((ABS(100 - x) ^ 2 + ABS(100 - y) ^ 2) ^ .5)
rad - pi/180 the constant to convert degrees to radians
70 - Controls the frequency of waves generated by cosine
(a/360) - adjusts the frequency of the waves the closer they get to 360 the faster they occur. The closer they get to the center the slower they occur. So the first ring around the center is the largest and the last is barely one unit wide.
8 - Is my amplifier, the values generated by cosine range from -1 to 1. This makes for rather blah waves so 8 boosts the range to -8 to -8
(100 - a) / 100 - This controls how high the waves get. a / 100 would make the waves larger the further away from the center point. By taking 'a' away from 100 I reverse that and make them taller the closer they are to the center.
player_z is the height the player was at the time the program started. It defines ground level.
Umm, yeah
Edit:
On a side note getting block data from minecraft is kind of slow. Finding what kind of block is in each location of a 11x11 grid was taking me ~6 seconds. I noticed in the server window each time I connected it mentioned a new thread was started for that connection.
I took a chance and modified a scanning program to make four connections and possibly four threads. The program would spread the data requests across all four connections. It basically checked to see if a connection had data or was waiting for data. If it was there it would process it. Next it send a new data request and mark the connection as waiting on data. It would then move to the next connection. The time for the same number of requests was four times faster at only ~1.5 seconds.
I think I could make it faster with more connections there would be a limit to how many I can do.
Edit2:

This mornings dream (BF/age play related)
General | Posted 13 years agoSo had kind of cool dream last night. I am sure it was inspired by reading
toddlergirl's journals about an age play event she goes too.
I was at a weekend meetup at some ones house for age players. Other then the host their was 6 or 8 of us staying there. The host was in his mid 40's maybe a little younger.
The first part of the dream was the first night after it was declared time to go to bed. We all in our pajamas and were settling down to sleep in the living room. I some how got the couch for the night. Basicly we were all just chatting about things. The host was some where else in the house. When the topic of the pictures on the walls came up.
The hosts living room had a lot of framed photographs on the well. but at the end of the couch, where my feet were, there were three open spots that had photos but had been removed. You could tell that they hung there for some time and had just been taken down. We started speculating what they could have been.
I noticed that if you looked at the blank spots at the right angle you could see a faint image. I can only remember what two of them were one was a woman in her late 20's with dark hair wearing a plain raspberry colored dress and sunglasses standing in an amusement park. The other was a brunette woman of similar age it looked professionally done of a close up of her face.
I think the topic of discussion got on the hosts nerves. He walked through the room and went down stairs to the basement then brought up a few framed photos. He then placed them on the wall in two of the open spots. They were different then the ones I was seeing on the wall itself. The frames were the right size though. He didn't say anything it was an act as if to say "fine let me show you whats missing." He then went back to what he was doing. The discussion died out after this. I think every body was a bit embarrassed because there were really nosing in to the hosts private life.
Apparently I slept well during the night because the next thing I remember was the host say that breakfast was served. We all moved to the dining room which was connected to living room. On the table our places were already setup with a plate of food on colorful paper party plates and plastic cups. Each one had a pile of scrambled eggs a couple of pieces of bacon some toast and a couple of cherry tomatoes.
There was one setting that had a baby bottle instead of a cup. It made me think about getting mine out but i got way to self conscious. This kind of triggered off the feelings of being alone and note part of the group. The rest of the dream became disjointed. Like I went to wash my hands before sitting down and when I came back they were cleaning up from breakfast.
I guess then next planned activity was some kind of craft. I was told to relay to the host by the woman doing it she only brought enough for 29. That's it that's the whole dream.
==============
Typing this out has given me kind of time to focus on what I had seen in the dream. Like the theme of two women. There were two woman at the event. The missing photos were of two woman. Their hair colors and styles actually match of the two woman that I dated in my life.
Feeling like I am alone and not part of a group perpetually haunts me. Its some that is easily triggered and hard to turn off. I couldn't tell you how many times I've felt like I am not part of the FA community and should just leave and find some place I fit in. Its hard but I remind myself that I do have friends here and there are people that are genuinely happy to see me pop up in there streams.
