The hot water tank for our apartment is broken. Well not just our apartment but ours and our down stairs neighbor. We don't know what the issue is yet the apartments handy man couldn't reach it because of the knee high layer of garbage and drug paraphernalia covering the floor.

Hows everybody else's day going?

Had a good trip to Marscon. I went down there with Stary_traveler and Moose_mage. Getting down to Virginia Beach went smooth.There where a lot of low laying clouds in the mountains that we drove through. We got to a real cool scenic spot on the route just as the clouds where opening up. Holes would open up so you can see portions of the valley below.

All the time we had before the con was spent meeting up with Stary and Moose_Mages various friends. This included a trip to Colonial Williamsburgh where Stary had worked. Nothing like trying to sneak around somewhere trying to avoid talking to every one that works there. She almost managed it. We also when to the beach. It was way to cold and windy that day.

The con was kind of disappointing. This year they had a much larger Hotel and sold the rooms it completely out a head of time. The con-suite was a lot larger occupying 4 rooms plus a couple of others for prep. But the hotel layout only offered conference space on either side of the hotel. From the looks of things the space was added on to the hotel at some point. It made for a bit of a walk from place to place and a confusing layout. I was still able to pull off my being every where at once trick it just took awhile.

The programming seemed less interesting then the year before. The only thing that really grabbed my attention was the presentations by Nasa and one on 3d printers.

Still it was worth it.

I like reading about the history of math.

Why is it that it seems like all mathematicians are/were contemporary to each other. Even ones that lived hundreds to a couple thousand years apart.

Why is it the best sleep I get all week is a couple hour nap on Sundays in the evening.

I mentioned a bit how all I ever asked for Christmas when I was a kid to customers. A lot of them mentioned they don't by them because they don't want to step on them.

The first thing mentioned in the Lego set I bought for myself was a symbol "do not play with on carpet"

One of interesting things with the set is the plastic container is from 2006, packets are from 2011 and the manual is 2012.

The plastic pouch has a warning about suffocation in ~30 different languages and dialects. It looks like a modern Rosetta stone. Plastic doesn't break down all that well...

After adding a fourth monitor on my computer I realize I don't need a forth monitor. On the bright side my computer maxes out at 7 monitors (7168X768 deskspace)

I'm running out of thing to watch on Netflix.

In a short time I've watched "My left foot", "The kings speech", a documentary on the Buda, and "Gandi". All of them were really good.

I haven't had any restful sleep since Sunday... evening.

After some discussion of what happened at work and when I got home i can identify what was happening was a massive anxiety attack. I have a bit of an anxiety disorder just like my mother. So with her help and having the medication in house. I was able to get through it.

If it wasn't for that I would have in the hospital. I spent Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday with my friends in Columbus. I was able to go to work today. I spent the first part of my shift just below the level of anxiety where I would find something to keep me off the floor. I was find once I got into the grove of selling again.

I have to admit I am greatfull for my manager who was able to rearrange the schedule so i didn't have to come in till today. He would have let me have Saturday and Sunday off if i needed it.

Quite a bit piled up to trigger this off. the simple stuff was just I hadn't slept well, I wasn't eating right, My father was having issues with car door freezing up, I managed to get to cuts and two second degree burns trying to open it, I was working on an art project working on art causes me a bit of anxiety. You add in I just in general get overloaded during the holidays.

I need to get out of retail.

I can't handle stupid people any more.

Cleaned bathroom instead of helping customers.

Hasn't been that clean in years.

This is not how long i've been on fa or when my last date was. Its something altogether different. It all started on a very dull Easter Sunday back in 2009. We never have sales worth being open on Easter. My coworker was depressed and annoyed because he had to work Easter the past few years and this was his daughters first one.

A suggested he should request next Easter off. We debated over if you could request days off that far in advance. So to settle this debate I was going to request a day off even further in the future. In the retail world there is a large black out range for time off requests it starts at the latest thanks giving and ends just after the New Year. vacation and even just days off are just not done.

So to break two ideas in one I requested the weekend of Dec 21st in 2012. This was done 3 years 8 months and 9 days ahead of time. It was approved. The thought was I would have moved on to a better job by then. I'm still here though after quitting three times and being fired.

This is now even a bit if a joke in the district office as it was brought up in a call earlier this week. As far as our dm goes its still approved. There still is 8 days left before the next schedule is made so any thing could happen.

I wasn't able to catch the end of the marathon this morning because of work. The final numbers are amazing. They raised in the span of 152 hours of continues gaming $437,046.65. Nearly half a million dollars raised for charity in under a week. That is a lot of items that can be supplied to help entertain and distract some very unfortunate children.

The dust has not settled yet as donations from large auctions my not have clear yet. I hope they are all getting some much deserved rest.

Something that never fails to amuse me about where I live is our candy store. The first time I stopped by there I surprised. Instead of having the door handle about waist height for me it was lower, much lower. The door handle is way down at my knee cap. Prefect if your only 3 or 4 feet tall.

I later found this is an throwback to the days when there was a canal that ran past there and the sidewalk was much lower.

So I came into work sat down to eat lunch in peace. I couldn't because my co workers kept bugging me with questions about customers. These people have worked here 2 or more years. One had a bunch of questions about flash lights. Accually I didn't make it ti the backroom before they asked for help.

I've watched these people sit\monkey around for the past two hours. Sure i'm not doing anything productive my self but at least I am helping people thay come in and answering the phone.

In the time between customers I have been designing a touch screen phone with parts we sell. No apps or net access but still talk and text. ... Maybe camera and mp3 functions. Defenitly not compact.

I'm just a min wage slave.

Yesterday I had my appointment to get a root canal the last of the big work should have been done. I've been in a bit of pain the last two weeks because I had to wait. To keep it short the guy they have for root canals did as much numbing agents as he could with no effect. Half my face was numb. After the last dose the dentist was poking my tooth and then hit the nerve. My whole body jolted.

He couldn't do the root canal. They gave me two options have it pulled or go to a specialist that would cost "a lot more." So today I am going to have them attempt to pull it. If they can't I'll have to go to a dental surgeon. If they can... eehhhh. I did all this damage to my teeth.

I couldn't really sleep last night do to being nervous and the heat. My dentists office is really nice. I don't know if its because they know I had a had experience with an extraction or can they see how young I am on the inside.

One of the best parts of the colder months coming up is waking up in a warm bed. It was so nice this morning waking up surrounded by the warmth and softness of my blankets and plushies.

A couple of weeks ago the cutest seen played out on the bus to work. I call it a bus but what they're really just shuttles, they only have 6 rows of seats. Well in this trip there was a woman and a her young baby, only a few months old, sitting at the back. At the front there was a little girl she must of only been 4 years old.

Well this girl was fascinated with the baby. Sitting backwards in her seat just watching it. After a few minutes she decided that it needed entertained. So little girl began to sing to the baby. Being so young she didn't know all the words to any song, so she sang the words to ever song she knew. This turned into a mash up of "Happy birthday", "Row, row your boat." and "Twinkle, twinkle little star". That was until her grandmother helped her sing "Old Mcdonald." It only last a few minutes before my stop but I did brighten my day.

Am I just seeing things here?

For those that don't know what I am referring to in  genesisw 's streams she started mentioning a while back you can change the subject of any conversation by mentioning bacon. This lead to a rule for her streams called "Hormel's Law."

Just stating "Bacon" is the sign that a subject need's to be changed imediatly and no questions asked why.
