Dential stuff.
General | Posted 13 years agoMost of this year I have been working on getting my teeth taken care of. The issues with my job caused a major set back having to use my income tax return for rent rather then on them. In April I had the week from hell getting "fired" turning 30 and being told by my dentist that I needed 5 teeth pulled, bad condition 2 wisdom and one that would just be an extra because nothing would be below it. On top of that my dentist no longer works with my insurance.
When I went to the dental surgeon this August, It took two months to get in there. I planned on only having the one most trouble-some tooth removed. It turned quickly into still removing all 5 under full sedation. This would cost me $!475 out of pocket after my insurance. I started saving up money.
I don't know how the conversation started into it but one of the customers I was helping out happens to work for billing of another dentist. I had mentioned only the cost of sedation She said at where she worked it would cost about a $100 less. I took the chance and called them up yesterday to see what they could do. They had an opening with morning to do a consult on the extractions.
The consult took a quick change when they asked if I wanted my trouble tooth out today, with just local. I was surprised asked them about some of the possible issues that came up. They didn't see the situation as being as bad.
So for $47 I had that tooth pulled Instead of $612. The one root broke but they pulled that out with little trouble. Here is the other kicker, they are sure they can save my other tooth. The news is the crown and root canal will cost $1,700. Yes its a more money then before I can keep the tooth.

From a smaller perspective
General | Posted 13 years agoI took advantage of my day off to finally take some photos I have been thinking about. Several times at where I work I've taken notice of how diffident the layout of the store was from the perspective of a toddler. Waist high displays grow to the size of walls. What we have no trouble looking over become towering obstacles blocking your view. Our few tables that we think nothing off form a small maze begging to run around.
I walked down to the local park with a digital camera and a rather short tripod about. I walked around taking photos from about 20-28 inches high. I had the fun of contorting my 6 foot body to look at a camera about 2 feet off the ground.
This was hard by kind of fun. Walking around trying to see the world from the low to the ground was defiantly pushing me into the little mind set. :)

General | Posted 13 years agoOne of the things that has been on my mind for awhile is relationships in peticular expectations. I've heard what various people want from their partners. Some of what I heard was just, wow. I am in no position to judge people for things like that. I am infantist its an alternative life style.
I started to think about what I could sacrifice, what would be the bare minimum that I would live with in a relationship. I turned 30 this years old I haven't had a date in 8 years. Not that I have been out there looking. Part of it is the extra baggage that I carry around and part of it is I just don't know where to go to meet people.
Going back on course. I realized today what the minimum would be. It is just the understanding despite the face I put on, I need to be held and comforted like a small child because it a big scary confusing world out there and it gets to much to handle sometimes.

Fixed: Cutting robot.
General | Posted 13 years agoMy mother has got into the scrap booking craze. One of the really cool things she has for cutting out paper is a "Making Memories Slice" Its a little micro controller ran paper cutter that you can pop SD cards in and cut designs out of paper. It was at Big Lots.
Well it stopped working for her. The solenoid that raises and lowers its razor stopped working. She called the manufacture up to see if its something that can be fixed. They told her that model has a "wiring fault" and offered her a discount. Which would be fine but she doesn't have the spare cash yet.
I took a crack at it. First thing that caught my eye when she bought it was that the razor didn't run on a X, Y system (up down left right). It runs on a polar style system, (rotation around the center point, distance from the center.
I thought when they said wiring fault they meant it was one of the plastic style ribbons had broken. When I took it apart I found out that wasn't the case they ran the four wires for one of the stepper motors and the two wires for the razor solenoid with out taking in account the units rotation.
All six wires were twisted into a rope pulling the connector for the solenoid out of the main circuit board. By faulty wiring they mean their software has a slight problem keeping the wires straight untangled. After unwinding the wires I plugged them back in and got everything back into position every thing worked fine. I just have to unwind the wires every month or so.
Useful specs for the unit.
2 bi polar stepper motors 12 v
1 octal rotatory switch.
1 latching solenoid 12 v
TI 430 based micro controller
graphical lcd with 6 buttons
sd card slot.
12 volt 600 ma nimh batter back (2/3 AA X 10)
12 volt power supply
File format has yet to be documented.
Edit:
I am trying to think of how to calculate a line in that polar format. I am thinking draw the line on an X,Y grid use the center of the circle of the as the reference. You would just need to calculate the right triangle formed from the center and the point on the line you need to get to. Your hypotenuse would be your distance the one angle of the triangle would be your rotation. You would just need to calculate a lot of points along that line.
I am not sure though.

The Elephant in the Living Room (documentory)
General | Posted 13 years agoI just got done watching "The Elephant in the Living Room(2010)" on Netflix.
The description on Netflix reads: "Set against the backdrop of a heated national debate, director Michael Webber takes viewers deep inside the controversial subculture of raising the most dangerous animals in the world as common household pets"
The whole thing kind of hit home in rather literal way. I've been keeping an eye on the topic of exotic animal ownership since the tragedy last October. It give incite into how it came to be and even why it happened here in Ohio.

Simple amusement.
General | Posted 13 years agoI saw something rather amusing this afternoon while walking to the bus stop today. One of the local resturants downtown had a sandwich board with a few helium balloons attached to it. A red one detached itself from the sign.
Slow bobbed its way a foot or so off the ground it made its way on the crosswalk to the other side of the street. No cars pass through the intersection so I think it really was crossing with the sign. It then instead of floating off into the air or heading in the same direction it turned 90 degrees and headed up the sidewalk towards the park still only a foot or so off the ground.
Some might think that it just was caught in an air current the was channeled between the buildings. But I know it just gave up its job in advertising and wanted to go fly a kite :)

Strange Little rituals
General | Posted 13 years agoI forgot last night that today I was having a replacement box spring delivered. So when I heard a knock on the at door nothing of my Little life had been hidden. So in record time I made some things, like my stuffed animals, disappear.
A new box spring means I had to remake I had to remake my bed. Ever time I do this its in the same order.
First goes the two pillows at the head of the bed. Next a comforter gets folded over several times then laid a long the wall to the left side of the bed. I don't know how it happened I woke up one morning with a comforter like that. I slept better then normal So I just keep putting one there. On top if it goes a small colorful fleece blanket. I bought the kit to make it last year to use as a pillow at work last year. I had the full intention of making it and giving it to my niece... Really.
Then comes my stuffed animals. First the big stuffed white tiger that my parents gave me for Christmas get placed on top of the right pillow. The same place I found her when I came home from work. She's the only plushie of mine that has a personality. She watches my door and protects my room.
If her arms go the twins two small tiger plushies that I bought myself for my birthday. My mother recently barged into my room saw them and sqweed. Next comes my large teddy bear it lays back against the tiger. Then on top of the white tigers goes a another small tiger.
My leopard plush goes on top of the fleece blanket. The last tiger to be put on goes on top of my pillow. Its special not just because it was the first plush I bought in my adult life almost ten years ago. It has a secret that it doesn't want any of the others to know. Despite how soft and cute he is and where I found him in the store. In reality its a door stop :)

Account Split
General | Posted 13 years agoI've thought about this for awhile and finally broke down and made an separate account for my adult half. This stems from a couple of things is I feel unconformable faving mature work when most of the items are of family's and children. The other is despite never having any one giving me grief about being a babyfur I am still nervious about admitting it or letting people know.
That is just me feeling uncomfortable with myself. I need help with that, well I just need help. If your reading this you've probably read my other journals so you already know that.
I don't know how I will be splitting things up with the exception of refs I don't plan on re uploading any images. I am probably going to split journals between the two accounts babyfur thoughts here and general stuff and life woes on the other.
The new account will be under the adult form of my name
cajaka . Feel feel to watch either or both accounts.
I am still thinking about using Cajaka on livestream
Edit:
TL;DR
I am going to be faving things I wouldn't before on a new account and you get to see what kind of mature work I like

Of Dreams and cons
General | Posted 13 years agoThe past two nights I've had convention themed dreams.
The first dream I met up with a group of babyfurs at some convention. It wasn't a Furry con that I could notice. We just kind of ended up in a hotel room and had fun, like any other group of friends there was no BF/AB/DL stuff going on. Well I think watching some cartoons or anime.
I have had my reservations about meeting up with other babyfurs or adult babies. Other then my normal fear of meeting up with people its my age. I see so many of them from mid 20's to teens it just makes me feel old. Like I am too old to be part of the group. I know that's not true, there are people my age or older that don't have that problem. I think it really has to do with my own issues then with others.
The second dream, the one last night, My ride dropped me off at near a con hotel. I wondered off to a near by McDonalds only to remember i for got to register before hand for the con... then I remembered that I didn't have a hotel room. That's it the whole dream.
These being said I both would like to go to a con some day and don't want to at the same time. Something that happens to me in social environments likes conventions I get depressed. I mean sitting willing my self to breath not wanting to exist depressed. It happens if I get alone and start noticing others having fun with their friends and I start thinking about how difficult it is for me to make that kind of connection with people and recognizing that connection. I just get stuck like this until something distracts me.
I went through MarsCON just fine because I went there with some of my friends to check it out. If I started to feel depression coming on I just went and found out what they were doing.

Radio-nerd-gasm
General | Posted 13 years agoOne of the things that I have been waiting on since my birthday is this odd $20 USB TV tuner for Europe. Why would someone in the US want a TV tuner that won't work you may ask. Well because someone figured out how to get chunks for raw radio signals out of it and have your computer sort them out into a useful signal.
Basically my computer has become an FM radio that picks up signal from ~64mhz to ~1.0 Ghz. Not only can I listen to normal FM transmissions but I can see all the signal activity around the signal I am listening too. I can listen to the local amateur radio repeating and watch for any other amateur radio transmissions at the same time.
It is going to be fun to travel with. Normally I bring a scanner to see what I can hear They are a pain in the butt in seek mode because they can lock on to sources of static. With this I just watch the display for activity and tune in.
There are some other interesting projects going on using adapters like the one I have. Someone managed to rig up a gps receiver from one.
Normally something like this costs ~$180.
Edited for many mistakes. Posting while sleep deprived was a bad idea.

General | Posted 13 years agoIf it wasn't bad enough that my take home income was $0.00 for the last two weeks. The company I work for put the extra effort into printing and shipped 2nd day a $0.00 check at a cost to them of $5.35.
I come home greeted by facebook recomending an article, "Jailed for $280: The Return of Debtors' Prisons"
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/jaile.....--prisons.html
Before even going to work I talked with my parents that I was not paying for their food because I might not be able to pay my part of July's rent. And then going to the store and getting to the cash register and having them to expect me to pay $110 for their groceries this week. I didn't even spend that much on my self in the past month.
This is even after paying May's rent ($200) last week even though they only asked for $50 of it to pay for groceries.
Needless to say I am not in the best mood right now.
edit:
My parents and I talked things over again, its a little better.

General | Posted 13 years agoI had a good week this past week. Its strange it seems so long ago yet its only been a couple of days. I spent Sunday -> Saturday with
Stary_Traveler and her SO. It started off with meeting her and one of her friends at this years rock and gem show. We always get a few deals on things there. All I got was a 13 inch pearl necklace for $7. She got more things then I could remember.
Things didn't go to well after the show Stary ended up having her knee issue get worse. True to her personality she couldn't just rest it. So we ended up going to a few stores during the week. She now has a pair of crutches and strangely she will be getting a wheel chair from a Kmart that was closing. I got a working pair of toy night vision goggles for a buck at a thrift store.
During the week I went through an open interview for phone support at a local company. While I didn't get the job I did managed to both buy and wear a shirt from a thrift store.
On Saturday we went to a rather disappointing reptile show. And this is coming from some one who only likes to look at reptiles.
Edit
I did find a Lamy Vista fountain pen laying on the ground outside of Stary's doctor's office. Its been beaten up it kind of works though.... Well the nibs good. and the carriage converter is ok.

Computer math abuse.
General | Posted 13 years agoMy current attitude
where x = {0,1,2,3,4,5}
67+((COS((x+1)*15*PI)/2+.5) *8)+(3-(((INT((COS((x+1)*(45/2)*PI))+ (COS((x+2)*(45/2)*PI))+.5))*.5) +.5)*3)- (INT((COS((x+0)*(45/2)*PI))+ (COS((x+2)*(45/2)*PI))) *6)+(INT(COS((x+4)*(45/4)*PI))+1) + (INT(COS(((5-x)-1)*(45/(8))*PI))+1) - (INT(COS((x+7)*(45/(8))*PI))+1)
Both abusing math and the INT() function which drops off any digits passed the decimal place.

And the hits just keep coming (rant)
General | Posted 13 years agoAfter looking at a $123 dollar "this is not a bill" dental bill from my insurance company I just realized they no longer accept my dentist... or any good dentist in this county or any of the surrounding counties.
So what next? I get hit by a car? I get mugged walking to the store? I get shot by someone who thinks I am going to mug them?
At least I know I am not going to get stopped by the police for having a beard ...again.

Job score
General | Posted 13 years agoFor those keeping track of the score Its I quit three times and have been terminated once from the job I *currently* have. SERIOUSLY WTF.
Different kinds of streamers.
General | Posted 13 years agoThere are plenty of art streams you can find on FA. Most of them are digital are with an occasional traditional art stream in the in the mix. These furs do something different then that kind of art. I must admit I don't know as much about some of these artists as i do others.
maxgoof
maxgoof is a singer and parody song writer. His work has made it on to the Doctor Demento show and his one song census was the #3 song of the year on it. If you join his stream be prepared to have fun. You also learn a bit about how songs are recorded and made to sound good. His large project that he has been working on for last past year "The Story Of The Beach Bears".Starts Here and tells the store of the lives of the Beach Bears. Check out his profile for various songs and parodies.
zironyxcyx
zironyxcyx Is another musician who commands an entire orchestra from within his computer. I have no idea how he fits one in there or how he deals with issues but he does. He creates music covers from games and movies along with his own orchestrations.
link4
link4 Streams wood carving. Something that he has been doing a bit of is carved and painted wooden badges. These guys can have some pretty good detail to them go check them out and his other works.
painteddog

Ok i've calmed down, i called a friend. He has a bad habit of ignoring his pain. He literally was passing a kidney stone one Christmas didn't say a word because he didn't want to ruin it. I don't know how much time passed from when the heart attack started and my mother got him to go to the ER.

Thoughts
General | Posted 14 years agoThis just a bunch out thoughts I need to get out or my head.
So Thursday was my last day of work and Friday I went a head and said terminate me. And I am going nuts. I have been going nuts. I'm not getting to sleep till 5-7 am. I am very antsy/bored. I have just about $1k left which I might be able to stretch out for three months.
I haven't been eating as much and I've been trying to switch off of sugar drinks to water. I think this from bad report from my dentist visit. A strange thing about me is in the few dreams I've had more often then not I smoke. Its been getting really tempting to start. If I start I may never stop. It doesn't help things my parents both smoke inside the apartment.
With this weather change here I am starting to miss being able to walk around at night. The only place I've been able to do that was at college. It wasn't unusual for me to walk 3-5 miles around campus at 2 am or 3 am. They never really helped but it was nice to get out.
My step father for good reasons is leaving his job soon. So our families money situation is going to get even worse. I have no what the plans are after he quits.
Add to it my 30th is in a little over 2 weeks. With my computer skills in high school teachers and staff would cut me breaks on things. I couldn't tell you how many times I heard "He is going to be a millionaire by the time he's 30." There is even a photo out there know as the "Millionaire Club."
I have little idea of who I am to people. Far as I know I am just a lurker, just always there and not really part of things. I realize I don't say much so no reason for it to be otherwise. I just don't have much to say. This just makes some of the things that are going on hard to handle. I keep thinking do I have the place to comment or should I just keep to myself.
Needless to say I've been suffering from bouts of depression. I could really use some one in my life to just hold me some times and make me feel like things are going to be alright.

Happy thought 3
General | Posted 14 years agoFor my first two years of college I lived in one of their dorms. That's how I met my girlfriend at the time, she lived across the how. Now our dorms were not the best setup. The peep holes in the doors worked well enough you could see if some one was in their room, the doors had a bit of a gap at the bottom, the bathrooms were rather bad, it smelled and anytime some opened or closed a door you could hear it down the whole hall. It was home though and I enjoyed my time there.
Strange things happen in dorms like this one time a friend of mine was sitting at her computer out of nowhere something skidded across her floor. It gave quite a start. What she found was a two foot long pixie stick. She of course popped right out of room to find who had did it.
She found no one in the halls and she hadn't heard a door open. It was all very strange. Now I personally can confirm all of this. I just happened to be in the room right next door to her at the time. I did not hear a single door open myself. She Never did find how this happened. :)
