Friendship ended with Loneliness
Posted a year agoDisregard is my friend now! <:
With the ongoing increase of production values with each new animation, it has become increasingly more difficult to produce these things on my own. This has manifested in constantly rising production times in especially the more recent animations, which didn't only make use of a modern rendering pipeline, but also significantly improved on the character models, their rigs, and their animation.
The character creation phase has already been supported by
Acidic and
Disregard67 (Alex) who played a substantial part in Chloe's creation. We compliment each other pretty well, which is why I'm planning to keep working with Cid and Alex on future original characters. Since Alex also specializes in animation, we've decided to take this collaboration a step further and involve him in future major animations now as well. This means that Encounter 3 will be animated by both Alex and myself to parallelize the animation workload a lot better. At the moment it's mostly a part-time thing since Alex still has his own projects on the side, but knowing there's a second animator already takes a massive burden off my own shoulders.
As an example, while I finalized the recently released Chloe's Tease animation, Alex had already been animating on the first Encounter 3 scenes, which will be shown some time in the upcoming weeks. Alex is quite fast with animating, admittedly a good bit faster than I am, which is why we've had a bit of an exchange in regards to my work schedule, where we managed to nail it down to me using a fairly dated laptop as a daily driver. My laptop is fairly slow by now and it requires me to export every animation before viewing it, so I'm hoping to get rid of that bottleneck by getting a new desktop this week with a powerful modern processor that I'll be using to animate going forward. Being able to animate and preview animations in real time sounds like the dream to me and should hopefully make my own animating a good bit faster. Once I'm done with the alternative angles and this new computer is also good to go, I'll join him with the animation. Note that I'll still handle all production-related aspects such as simulation, lighting, rendering going forward.
Encounter 3 plans
Knowing I have Alex aboard with this animation gave me a lot of liberties with the script, as I didn't need to write it with the limitation in mind that I need to animate everything on my own and release it in a somewhat timely manner as well. As a result of that, the whole animation will be more comparable to a TV episode and have a supposed runtime of up to twenty minutes. The plot revolves around Space Hero trying to get the Ankh of infinite wishes from Chloe, who of course isn't just going to give it to him. It's supposed to be divided in three parts, starting with Space Hero meeting Chloe, the actual bossfight, and a smaller part afterwards that takes place at the Tiki Bar at night. Before joining Alex on the animation, I'll likely do a few improvements on both the environment and Chloe herself, as I want to look everything as good as I possibly can.
Future long term plans include the introduction of new original characters, including the revamped Zoe 2.0 model sometime after the third Encounter episode is completed.
New Release Schedule (Patreon)
With Encounter 3 being such an absolute chonker of a project, I thought it would be a good idea to deviate from the typical release schedule of only showing playblasts for so many months and then only release an animation when it's completed. The idea for the new release schedule is to post the animation as far as it's rendered and do that every few months until completion. I figured this has already worked pretty well with the Bunsen, as well as the Chloe's Tease animation, where I posted them in a partially completed state. For the future I want to double down on it and post major update milestones more frequently, especially as it probably works a lot better with these long form animations. As for public releases, nothing really changes as I'll keep posting the finalized animations once they're fully completed!
I want to thank everyone on Patreon for their ongoing support! Not only has this enabled me to dedicate so much time to producing these animation with state-of-the-art soft and hardware, but it's also making it possible to collaborate with other artists and fairly compensate them for their work. Knowing there's now a second animator helping me with these huge animations is a massive stress relief as well since I've often found myself overburdened from making these animations on my own. <3

Encounter 2 Sneak Peak & Official Youtube
Posted 4 years agoConsidering all of the latest comments and PMs I'm receiving are asking me if/when I'm making a new animation, it seemed like a good idea posting a little update here. I've recently released an early work in progress version of Encounter 2 on Patreon, but it's still incomplete and has multiple scenes missing, lacks some post production, as well as audio. Just recently I've posted a small snippet on my somewhat new-ish Twitter account, which you watch here: https://twitter.com/notcakeinferno/.....02734669193223
I'm aiming for the finalized version to be released some time around late January, but can't say for sure since there's still a lot of animating left to do. Once everything is completed 100% there's of course going to be a public version again that will be posted here and on Youtube. Oh hey, speaking of Youtube, I finally got around making an official Youtube channel! Right now it doesn't look particularly fancy, but I'm sure once I've uploaded a banner in 5 years it will look fully official! :D

Some words on the new animation
Posted 5 years agoConsidering I haven’t posted in quite a while, it felt like a good idea to slowly warm up folks to a new release that’s coming up in a couple of weeks! I usually never announce these beforehand anymore as I tend to feel pressured by hype, but considering this film is over 10 minutes long and took me 6 months to animate, I might at least let people know it’s coming. After all it will just be one gallery item that might quickly get buried underneath other posts, hah!
The Patreon version is already out there, but I’m taking a few more weeks to polish it up and extend it by an additional scene, as well as a couple of bonus angles for a selected number of vore scenes. The animation is going to be quite a bit different from the previous ones, as it’s made to represent a videogame boss fight. It takes a lot more emphasis on story and characters, as I wanted to clearly set it apart from my previous animations that were mainly just quick nom scenes with little context. Overall it’s a lot more intended as a short film than just a vore animation, while still guaranteeing that there won’t be any shortage of nommy scenes. In fact this one probably has the highest amount of vore scenes yet, but that was why the scenario of a boss fight made perfect sense for a film like this!
This new animation is also featuring a couple of new voice actors, with the most prominent being GenLightningTurtle as the new voice for Zoe. Note that Hestia is still in this animation and will probably remain for future films, albeit it mostly in supporting roles! This is also the first time that there’s actual dialogue and banter between the two main characters. At first I was a bit reluctant on the idea, but those doubts were quick to fade away after seeing how well the actors delivered the lines from the script. So far the reception on Patreon has been the best yet by a long shot, needless to say that I can’t wait for posting the public release! <:
Animation Leaks
I’m aware that leaks are currently running wild, in fact so much that I’m barely able to keep up with them anymore. For now I’m going to give a fair warning that I’ve been taking action on some of these uploads. Just a little heads up that Youtube channels should be aware that their account is tied their Google profile, and getting banned from Google’s services can have devastating consequences. Quite a few channels that are leaking this animation also uploaded other films that I’ve made, making it possible for me to issue multiple takedown notices and easily get a channel terminated from one day to another. I know how punishing their system can be, so I’m never going to cripple someone with multiple strikes, but the risk/reward ratio people are willing to take keeps baffling me. Especially when it’s about something that will be posted freely in the next month anyways.
For now I’d like to kindly ask people to avoid leaks and wait for the extended version next month, which will also have a few more visual effects that I didn’t manage to finalize for the early Patreon version.

List of genuine accounts
Posted 5 years agoAfter recently finding myself browsing -that part- of Youtube, I noticed that there’s quite a few accounts associated with my videos. While some of these are making it obvious that it isn’t the real me uploading them, there are others that keep it somewhat more ambiguous, while there are also some basically pretending to be me. These video re-uploads reel in quite a few more views than I first assumed, and a lot of commenters actually seem to believe that it’s me behind the uploads, so I thought it would be a good idea to make a list to tell the cakes from the fakes, the flans from fans, the tarts from the stolen arts, the pastries from the copy and pasties! Okay, you get the idea, here's the list. <:

Guess it's safe to say that all accounts outside of the ones I've listed in the real section are either impersonators, or just random folks using the name to transfer my video library there. My concern with these is mostly that impersonators start trying to take advantage of people by pretending to be me (begging for donations, etc.), because everyone knows that there's no hotter pick-up line than "Hey, I do vore animations. Wanna hang out?". I'll make sure to keep this list updated in case I keep procedurally generating accounts on other platforms!

New Animation in roughly 3 weeks
Posted 8 years agoJust a quick journal to announce that the new animation will be posted around the 20th of January! There were a few unexpected complications that delayed the early access Patreon release, but I'm slowly getting back on track with my posting schedule!
Also Merry Christmas! It just flew by for me this year, so by now it's probably too late, ha!

Patreon Management
Posted 8 years agoMerry Christmas guys! Been a while since I posted a journal, so here's one! Even though I'm just asking for advice here, mostly from those that are experienced with Patreon, and perhaps creators there as well. Knowing a lot of people here use this site, and are creators there as well I thought it would be a good idea posting this here.
Some context first. A few months ago I started a Patreon account since producing the animations I do costs both money and a lot of time. I was quite overwhelmed seeing this account take off within a short amount of time, finding myself with 300 patrons until now. While I'm positively surprised about the amount of people backing me, I have to admit that I'm approaching some management issues as the amount of messages, comments, and requests for support are coming in a quantity that has me sitting in front of my laptop for roughly 2 - 4 hours every day in an attempt to get all the housekeeping done. Meanwhile I still need to produce content, while also managing a job that also needs full time engagement as well.
Doing this much organization cuts a lot of time from the actual content creation and I figured there's always something I need to neglect when trying to deliver well on one aspect. This can put me in trouble, as I learned there aren't just patrons wanting to support me, but also very few ones trying to do the direct opposite by instantly reporting my page when something doesn't go as planned.
Since I'm still discovering Patreon and its functions I've been wondering if there was a feature that lets you promote certain patrons to channel moderators (ideally paid ones), which can reply to PMs and do a few other tasks. In general I've seen a few channels that had a large base of patrons and kept wondering how they kept up. Some were joint accounts, where it was kind of self explainitory, but others seemed to run solo as well. Therefore any hints would be greatly appreciated!

On reuploads on Youtube and other platforms
Posted 9 years agoIt's okay, they tend to happen and I'm aware I can't do much about them.
With me still receiving a lot of notes on the matter I thought it was a good idea to make a more official statement of video reups on youtube by others. There's still the rumor floating around that I go on a deadly Frank Castle/Fafcomics vendetta whenever I see videos of me showing up on other video platforms. Eventually I'm at fault myself that this rumor exists, since back then we had the situation of my own (unlisted) videos being removed from youtube, while others could perfectly upload and share these, even collect ad revenue from them. I think most people can actually comprehend how frustrating that was.
However, things are a bit different now. Thanks to Bennie and Cougr I have access to ftp space that allows me to stream the content to other people. It might not be as universally accessible as youtube, but it's a working alternative! Uploads on youtube still happen and I can't really do a whole lot about them. If I happen to find one of my videos there I usually just roll my eyes, but that's pretty much about it. With the situation having changed I'm pretty chill about this whole thing these days. That being said I still think that fetish videos like these aren't supposed to be exposed to a mainstream audience, but with the quantity of them popping up I'd waste too much energy caring too much, so I just tend to pretend I haven't seen them! \o/
After putting up a Patreon things look a lot better for future videos. Ultimately this could finally turn my own view on this hobby around, as so far it had only wasted a lot of time/money for me throughout the last years, so making it only waste time certainly takes a lot off my shoulders! I hereby want to thank all patrons who supported me so generously on the initial start. I got sure to thank everyone individually and hope I can provide enough content for you in the upcoming months! If support picks up further I might be able to consider this a second part time job and produce animations at a more frequent pace. Eventually we could establish a little video library of vorish animations for the future! (:

Patreon is up!
Posted 9 years agohttps://www.patreon.com/CakeInferno
Alright, it's up! Took a few days to consider what I wanted to put on there in terms of rewards, but it's finally done. I think I shall roll this out as a bit of a test for the next 3 months to see if this will get anywhere near the $100 mark. I have yet to set up payouts, so I assume if some money flows into the account it gets stored in the meantime?
In the meantime I shall proceed at normal pace, while preparing some posts! With the rewards likely not being that overwhelming this account can be seen as a bit of a tip jar for now. Once more significant support comes in I'll get sure to step up my game though!
To offer some transparency, here's the content that will be Patreon exclusive
- Any WIP material for new animations/comics, including animation tests, lighting studies and other work in progress material.
- Occasional VFX breakdowns, showing development and working steps on how the visuals are created.
- Future animations will be downloadable in Ultra High Definition (3840x2160), 1080p versions will be encoded at a higher bitrate (16mbps)
- 1 week early access to finished animations/comics
All core content will remain free and be posted here, with the only change being that future 1080p videos will "only" be encoded at Youtube quality (8mbps).
Let me know if you find this fair! If anything comes from this I'll get sure to give something back to Bennie, who hosts the site where the videos are stored on, without him we'd likely have to watch those in horrible quality. Furthermore this could be used to get other people involved and paid, such as voice actors, sound designers, etc. But let's see if I'm not being too optimistic there! <:

Using Paypal on NSFW Patreon accounts?
Posted 9 years agoFirst of all, thanks so much for the overwhelming amount of comments, favorites, and notes on The Orange Fox 2! I know it is and remains a fetish related film, but I still hope that people could enjoy the aesthetics behind it! (:
Before I get to the self explanatory title I have to make the confession that this film was actually supposed to be the last film for me to post here. The reason for that being that I didn't just feel completely burned out, but also that putting so much work into these films and handing them out for free had left me at a pretty bad state, especially with me actually spending time and money into something that wouldn't really get me anywhere, multiple times in a row. I admit that I planned to pull back from this for a few months now for the mentioned reasons. However, after posting this film there were a lot of comments and notes that brought my attention back to Patreon, which actually seems like an option that could actually work. I'd still have to think about the rewards and what to do with it, but if there was actually some money coming from this that would compensate for all the nerve wrecking work that goes into making an animation like this, things would likely look a little different.
The main goal remains to keep these films free for the community, even though I'm not sure if that's attractive enough for patrons to actually pledge. It's likely I'll give this a test run first and see if it can actually work. If I could establish this as a sort of part-time job I'd even be able to post animations more frequently. Likely every two months, rather than once a year. Perhaps it would also be a better goal to keep animations a bit shorter instead of always rendering half a short film.
With Patreon actually supporting NSFW content I was wondering how well that translates to Paypal. But now I've read a few cases that Paypal is not an option when making a NSFW Patreon, yet the Paypal option is still visible on the account I made today. Are there any people here that own NSFW Patreons and manage to get Paypal payouts? I'm still a bit nervous of getting my Paypal suspended for using it with NSFW content, which is clearly against Paypal's guidelines. any ideas, experiences?
Would certainly love to have some help while I'm slowly approaching this. (:

Impersonator on Youtube
Posted 9 years agoI have to admit that I actually wasn't aware of this someone brought this to my attention again. So aparently I have a Youtube channel again, and it wasn't made by me.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_.....G46DMJRxgoaBpw
Now, I generally don't care anymore if people if people upload my stuff on youtube because let's face it, it happens anyways. However, this guy uses my logo, name, and downright pretends to be me by answering comments in my name. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcy0v7jk048
If he'd just put the videos there without any comment I'd likely don't care much, but here I'm being impersonated by someone who doesn't exactly seem competent. I want to clarify to anyone coming here that this isn't me, so please, if anyone has questions regarding my work, leave them either here, my FA, or deviantart account. Not sure if I should feel concerned or flattered someone actually wants to pretend he's me. :D

Chick Magnet 500
Posted 9 years agoToday I've repaired the PC of my uncle. Additionally I've renamed his Wifi access point into "ChickMagnet500". While he probably wouldn't find that very amusing, I thought it was sufficient enough if find it funny. <:
Note that I've picked up 3D work again since I currently have a few weeks of downtime in RL, I'm mostly experimenting around with nonsense though, that includes animating dust particles, nerding over subsurface scattering shaders, and dropping a Piano on Zoe. Especially the later is admittedly most entertaining! My plan is to do a few more smaller animations that loop in order to get back into animating and actually have some decent; more frequent content to post. Thanks for all the feedback on everything I post here! I've been slacking a bit in getting back to each comment, most likely because I already do that on my other persona that floats around out there on the internet. Having two seperate identities is something I find incredibly hard to manage sometimes, sadly it's necessary if you do a certain level of professional work, but I assume a lot of artists here can relate. The same thing troubles my Skype account, while I'm available 24/7 on my RL account I often find it difficult to sign into my Cake Skype here. In case you added me there and haven't heard of me in months then please don't be frustrated with me there. Another mental hurdle for me is the amount of people I somehow added there. I remember walking around like Jim Carrey in Yes Man during my first year. While I always enjoy meeting new personalities, I've been troubled with the circumstance of knowing a huge amount of people here on bowing terms, rather than establishing something deeper with people I actually liked. Ah well... perhaps I should actually try approaching people I like myself and see how this goes! Gotta see whom to drive nuts here more carefully!
Wow... this was actually supposed to be one of those monthly nonsense journals. Now it actually has real content in it, it's almost as if I'd start taking myself seriously. D:
(Catching up on journals here since I figured I only posted this on Eka's, also to spam away my recent journal! Huehuehue~)

Australian versions of my videos
Posted 10 years agoAustralian users have previously struggled watching any of my films properly, which is why I've taken the extra time to convert my videos into a more native Australian format. My videos were converted to fit their AU.720p (v2) standard and can now be watched in the right format within the whole continent!

On commissions, Patreon, and donations
Posted 10 years agoThese three words in the title were quite frequent in recent comments and notes, after putting a good bit of thought into them I'd like to address these in this journal.
The broken record titled "Commissions"
You might know that my stance on commissions has been repulsive, unfortunately this hasn't changed. The reason for that is that the commission requests usually look like this:
"I'd like to see my own character getting eaten by this other character. There should be a lot of teasing and a full digestion scene. Then Batman jumps through the window and beats the crap out of everyone."
Apart from Batman, this is pretty accurate and actually sounds fairly simple in itself. However, the bare work in this includes modelling and rigging two entire characters, eventually modelling an environment, animating, taking care of shading and lighting, rendering with post production and doing sound design to name the major steps. With these production standards, a commission request like this is barely a commission request, but a briefing for a small VFX company. A realistic price for a commission like this would lie somewhere inbetween $5.000 - $10.000. Of course you can do things a lot cheaper, but for that we'd have to drop the fancy visuals and move over to using pre-moddelled plastic dinosaurs. <:
Patreon, from montly donations to subscription model
Patreon is something that I've been looking at with a bit of a skeptical eye, mostly because it forces users to pay, and keep paying to see art. In its defense I have to say that many artists mainly use it as a tool to reward their patreons with extra content, early access to material they might release later on anyways, and personalized rewards for them. This is where patreons become supporters rather than subscribers, giving it a purpose that appears overall a bit more noble.
Sadly there have also been a few artists who downright run it like a subscription based online shop, where art communities like these have become a mere advertising outpost. There have even been a few cases where artists stopped posting altogether here, unless it was for the purpose of teasing something on Patreon. It's generally something I'd like to distance myself from, overall the model probably wouldn't work for my purposes, I simply don't have the output rate.
Donations, least complicated?
The concept of donations seems to make a lot more sense to me. Especially since this hobby of mine has been gotten fairly expensive. From software licenses, hardware, over to a resulting energy bill from a highend GPU rendering and running at full tilt for one week straight. Perhaps this way I could at least get some cash back that I've kept spending over the recent years and eventually use it for new soft and hardware in the future. As some sort of reward I could send donors old junk such as render tests and old/unfinished animations. Figured my friends liked this stuff as well! For now I'm gonna see how the reception is, from there I'll see if it's even worth opening a paypal for this!
tl;dr version
Commissions - Nope, sorry! D:
Patreon - Not suited for me
Donations - Perhaps, tell me what you think!
EDIT: People pointed out that Patreon can actually be used as a donation site to work towards a goal. Might actually consider that now, as this model seems to make a lot more sense!

Videos are UP!
Posted 10 years agoAfter my videos went down for a brief moment (3 months), they're finally up again! Appologies to everyone who's been waiting, but finding a solution wasn't quite simple.
Big thanks should go to
cougr and
bennie!
After Cougr noted his friend about my problem, he offered me some space on his server! The advantages of that are pretty clear, no more bothering around with trolls who falsely flag the videos to get them removed. Furthermore the videos are now being offered at the highest possible quality standard, so in case you haven't seen them in bluray quality yet, here's your chance! (:

The videos are now downloadable as well. I'm pretty sure this will be an open invitation for people to throw them onto youtube and spread them to the farthest corners of the universe, but to be honest I don't tend to care about these things anymore. I saw what happened to my own youtube account with these videos uploaded, apart from that Dailymotion is downright rejecting them right now. So if anyone feels the need to throw these perfectly available videos onto these public sites then they shall go ahead, if they want their youtube account removed then that's their issue. There used to be a reason why I didn't want to share my videos in public, as I didn't want a certain person to find out about them. But this already happened a while ago, so there's no reason to keep everything locked up tightly. Unless Bennie's server is struck by lightning the videos are going to stay. So enjoy them! (:

The current video situation
Posted 10 years agoHere's a little update on the video situation since things are still taking their time. As many of you know my videos are still down, there have been some alternatives coming up by now, but in the meantime please do not send me any more notes with further suggestions for video sites, as I'm currently drowning in them. The major bunch of video hosting sites has already been sorted out in my previous journal and I don't want to sound like a broken record.
A few weeks ago I've been contacted by Cougr's friend about a possible hosting solution on his server. I assume he's fairly busy since he hasn't read my reply yet, all I can do regarding this is to just give it more time for now. Furthermore I've gotten an offer from another good friend of mine who's putting together a portfolio, but again, this would most likely take some time as well.
With these new opportunities coming up it would likely be possible to offer current, and future videos in bluray-esque quality with a lot less compression as the versions previously seen on youtube. Just bear with me a little bit longer! (:

Temporarily putting notes on freeze
Posted 10 years agoJust a little note considering I'm currently in a lot of career related stress in RL. I currently have 12 notes open that I won't have time to answer anytime soon, at least until I'm done with the things that currently keep me under stress.
If you noted me, then please be patient and don't send another note asking why I didn't reply the previous note yet. I'll get back to everyone once I've got more time on my hands.
Thanks for the patience everyone! (:
