A Wife's Devotion
General | Posted 13 years agoA woman accompanied her husband to the doctor's office.
After his checkup, the doctor called the wife into his office alone. He said, "Your husband is suffering from a very severe stress disorder. If you don't follow my instructions carefully, your husband will surely die.
"Each morning, fix him a healthy breakfast. Be pleasant at all times. For lunch make him a nutritious meal. For dinner prepare an especially nice meal for him.
"Don't burden him with chores. Don't discuss your problems with him; it will only make his stress worse. Do not nag him. Most importantly, make love to him regularly.
"If you can do this for the next 10 months to a year, I think your husband will regain his health completely."
On the way home, the husband asked his wife, "What did the doctor say?"
"He said you're going to die," she replied.

Peacocks. I Really Don't Like Them At All.
General | Posted 13 years agoYardbirds! So named because where I used to work at the recycling and scrap yard in Eureka, IL many years ago, the guy who lived behind us had 8 of these damned things. 2 males and 6 females. They got over the fence into our place all the time and shit EVERYWHERE they could. Plus after he died, they were let run wild by his stupid offspring who were useless as all getout. They ended up living in one shed we stored junk tires in and literally made such a mess, we ended up having to tear it down. 2 were stupid enough to fly up and try to roost on a light pole and fried themselves. That was pretty funny when we found them the next morning. And I remember one time finding one of the males asleep on a pile of I-beams. I snuck up behind him and grabbed ahold of him by the tail. Man, that thing could squawk and screech, but I held on for a minute or so. He tried to fly away, and wow, he was pretty strong. That was a funny as anything I've ever seen.
Yeah, I really don't like peacocks. Sorry if this upset you.

I feel old.
General | Posted 13 years agoOn Friday, I shall be 47. Wow, I feel kinda old. And I'm getting old and worn out, my body has so many things wrong that cause pain all the time, and yeah, this kinda sucks. Plus, I won't be home again til Xmas, so yeah, no birthday cake for me or anything.
Bleh.
Bleh.
I'm at a loss for words over this news.
General | Posted 13 years agoDennis "Stalking Cat" Avner chose to take his own life on 11/5/2012 in his home of Tonopah, NV. I.... I just don't know what to say, other than I hope he's in a better place now. He was such a nice person, and though I haven't seen him in several years, he was a friend, and I will miss him greatly.
OMG more Drama!
General | Posted 13 years agoSomeone I know on FA, and in person too, was whining about how depressed they are now that Obama got reelected. OMG, It's Not The End Of The World! In fact, it's going to be much better for us all now that ObamaCare will in fact be put into place. I am so tired of the Right Wing's gloom and doom because we are getting centralized health care. It works in most other countries, and the system we have now sure doesn't work for those of us who don't have tons of money to afford "real health insurance" So sheesh, lighten the fuck up dude. And making a journal about how much I pissed you off and made you angry should just show how much of a gloomygus he is to start with.
Fancy Dress! Borrowed from a group on FetLife
General | Posted 13 years agoThere's a man with a bald head and a wooden leg who gets invited to a Halloween party. He doesn't know what costume to wear to hide his head and his leg, so he writes to a fancy dress company to explain the problem.
A few days later he receives a parcel with a note.
"Dear Sir, please find enclosed a pirate's outfit. The spotted hand-kerchief will cover your bald head and, with your wooden leg, you will be just right as a pirate."
The man thinks this is terrible because they have just emphasized his wooden leg and so he writes a letter of complaint. A week passes and he receives another parcel and a note, which says:
"Dear Sir, please find enclosed a monk's habit. The long robe will cover your wooden leg, and with your bald head, you will really look the part."
Now the man is really annoyed since they have gone from emphasizing his wooden leg to emphasizing his bald head and he writes the company another nasty letter of complaint. The next day he receives a small parcel and a note which reads:
"Dear Sir, please find enclosed a tin of treacle. Pour the treacle over your bald head, stick your wooden leg up your arse and go as a toffee apple!"

Just shoot me and be done with it!
General | Posted 13 years agoFuck Me Running! That damn nasty sore I had on my left butt cheek that I had surgery on last month? It got reinfected and just literally exploded when I took the bandage off, all over the bunk and cab of my truck. Literally, blood and yuck everywhere. I got it bandaged up the best I could, but yeah... I had to call Safety and let them know, they said yes, I could still drive if I felt safe to do so, I said I need to get home ASAP and see my Dr. again. I'm in Girard, OH, with a load going to eastern PA, they are trying to find someone to take it from me. I'm 750 miles from home right now, parked for the night at least. I'm screwed financially every which way from Sunday now.
UPDATE: Just got a call from the switch team, they found me a driver to switch with in the morning. Now at least I'll be headed west, going to southern IN, where I just came from today. They are going to try to find me something to home from there too, so that's good at least.
NEW UPDATE: The found me a 2nd load to get from Indiana to within 100 miles of home, on Tuesday, so better yet. I should be home sometime Tuesday afternoon earlyish, and can call the Dr. on Monday to set up an appt I hope. They were really good about getting me in on short notice last time.

I put up that old garden trellis today, and the other pics are of the dahlia flowers we had growing that were killed the other night by the early frost we had here.
I've been off work on medical leave for the last 2 weeks, and go back to work tomorrow.

Adventures in Pain and Blood
General | Posted 13 years agoI had outpatient surgery on Tuesday on 3 bad abcesses, two on my butt and one on my groin, where I had surgery a few years ago. They tried originally to open the bad one Monday night in the ER, but just lidocaine and a shot of something else didn't even touch the pain I felt as they just touched the sore with a needle, so it was decided to go back in the next day and do outpatient and knock me out for it. Trust me, the pain was THAT intense.
Well, the lady who called me to tell me what time to come in screwed up bigtime and told me I could eat something beforehand, and that caused issues with anethiesia right off the bat. So instead of general, I had to get a spinal block. Never had one before, was very scared of how it sounded. They got me into the OR, and I had to sit on the edge of the bed and hunch over so my spine was exposed. Now, sitting on the sore was agony in itself, even with a roll of paper towles under my hip to try to relieve the pain. And then it turns out, with the back injuries I've had in the past, my ligaments caused them a lot of trouble to get the needles into my spine. I had an IV with something in it to relax me some, so really, the multiple injection attempts to my spine didn't hurt too bad, but it's sore today.
They finally got the stuff in and my legs went numb really fast, in fact, everything from my bellybutton down went numb. The surgery took maybe 45 minutes or so. The surgeon told me that the one on my groin had as much nasty puss as the one on my right hip, though it was smaller. This is where I had a similer surgery back in 2009 in Indiana, and it never really healed after. The big sore though, I know he removed some infected tissues from there. Right now, all 3 are packed with gauze and covered with padding, and it makes me feel a bit like a babyfur with how it's taped up back there. I get to remove the pads and the packing tomorrow, and go back to see the surgeon on Monday, though I'm taking all next week off work too to recover.

Had to remove bandages and packings from the surgery wounds, ended up with a fountain of blood on the bathroom floor. Was not fun at all.
The groin wound wasn't too bad, but it is very swollen. The packing was not too gross, lots of blood was all. The bad big one though, when I pulled it out, it was stuck and when it gave, a fountain of blood came out, all over the floor and the back of my leg. Was really really gross. The other one had a lot of puss on the packing.
I see the surgeon again on Monday, hopefully by then they will be somewhat more healed. If not, he may want to repack them inside. I'm actually surprised he didn't want to see me sooner to repack them as I've had done before.
Many many thanks to
fyremane for helping me to shower and get rebandaged, as I can't do it by myself. Still in a lot of pain too.
And for any who wonder why I can't do it myself, you try it with 1 inch open wounds in your buttocks. Go ahead, just try. I dare ya!

What's wrong with me?
General | Posted 13 years agoIn case anyone was wondering about the sores I have been getting for several years now, I have been diagnosed with a severe case of Hidradenitis Suppurativa.
And sadly, I am at stage 3 in the damnable disease. I have been told surgery is my only real option, and I have no insurance. So life sucks as I live in almost constant pain, and there is little I can do about it at the present.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidrad.....is_suppurativa
EDIT: Right now, I'm going through a pretty bad flare-up of sores too. I've got one on my right buttcheck that is as least the size of a baseball, and it makes it VERY uncomfortable to sit, plus a few others that are showing up under my fat belly. Oh the next few days are really gonna suck!

Here we go again. Apparently, I upset someone with a comment
General | Posted 13 years agoApparently, I've become a real fucking asshole. I must be doing something right! Muwahaha! Hey, I call them like I see them. Open and honest.
If someone doesn't like me, that's fine. Calling me names? That's fine too. But make sure you practice what you preach. I don't tell lies.
And if you think I'm being an asshole or whatever, take a good look at yourself in the mirror first, you may not like what you see.
At least I have my priorities straight and am a responsible adult, with my work coming first and having fun a far distant second.
Life may not be perfect or exactly the way we want it to be but survival of one's self and mate comes before going to a fur con or whatever.

Who remembers Butterscotch Vixen?
General | Posted 13 years agoI have to start wondering, does anyone even remember Butterscotch Vixen? My old fursona. Or the fact that until 2 years ago, for the 4 or 5 years prior, I lived RL as Susan Butterscotch Foxx, the MtF trans girl with purple hair in the fandom? I had 3 people today who I knew back then, and even before I became Susan, who did not know that I, Cal, nowadays, was Susan, and/or Butterscotch. Wow. Maybe I need to put a big sign up or something?
In case you were wondering who Susan was: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3244340/
