Posted 14 years agoWe've had maybe two replies to a couple of event suggestions that would make good plans if they had more feedback.
Event ideas need something like five potential attendees before plans can be finalized. You need to respond to these journals if you want to get involved.

Here's the two latest ones that haven't expired:

Obviously, most people hate spending money on movies.
Sure, there are some cool new films in theaters, but who says there aren't enough old ones?!
Recently, my home has acquired a great deal of new hangout space, suitable for up to 15 guests.
The room has numerous sofas, two TVs with surround sound (both CRTs though), and all the video games you can eat! :P
We could order pizzas with pooled money (Papa John's has some awesome deals for XL pizzas), and people are encouraged to bring their own snacks and soda to share. NO BOOZE PLEASE.
If you request titles in advance, they can be made available for the event. If
pr0ckz3d helps me, it should be even easier to provide all the modern conveniences for a laid-back party. :3
If watching movies isn't your thing,
gar-yulong and I now have a huge collection of board games. Most of the classics are available, along with some rare and unusual titles.
One thing to keep in mind if you plan to attend: I have a very elderly great grandmother who lives in this home, right under the room we'll be in. She is mostly deaf, so loud music won't bother her all that much as long as she knows that we're having a party. On the other hand, stomping around on the floor won't go over too well, so you just need to step quietly.
The room is a finished attic room with a sloped ceiling (low head room in the back!), which means it could get hot. I have an air conditioner installed if open windows aren't enough. Generally, when it's all tidied up, my friends agree that it's a great place to hang out.
There is not a ton of walking room - this is mostly a sit down and get comfy party. Lots of space to relax, just not a lot of wandering room. It's not the sort of party where you can mill around with a drink in your hand.
We could stay up half the night if people are willing. 2AM? Why not. Movies are long anyway.
Can anyone suggest a rain date? We should definitely stick to a weekend.

Given the trouble with the original March 4th plan (not enough planning time), I think we should first figure out WHEN we should go see it.
Maybe on a Friday? How's Friday, April 1st (hah) for you folks?

INTRODUCE YOURSELF (#1)
Posted 14 years agoWe've received a lot of new members lately - perhaps some from the Mass Furbowl?

Reply to this journal with a comment that tells us all about you! :3
ALL MEMBERS can do this. This is not just for the newbies.

[ ! ] RULE RECAP #1 [ ! ]
This is a recap of rules made official by passed votes.
There weren't many votes on either of these, but they stayed in favor by the majority of votes, so now they are official.
In the future, I hope that you folks will do more to get involved in the decision-making for our group.
HARRASSMENT
Members must not be rude or aggressive towards each other during events.
Treat others with respect and courtesy. No harassment.
From: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2075288/
EVENT ORGANIZERS
PART ONE:
Whoever submits the event idea should be in charge of it.
If you started the idea, you can take responsibility over the event itself.
If you don't feel comfortable running the show for your own idea then of course you can appoint somebody else.
PART TWO:
The person organizing the event has full control over where it happens, itinerary, etc.
The attendees would have the power to vote-out a plan if necessary - nobody's being dragged around.
Group-wide rules of conduct would be applied here, not overridden (no harrassment, etc).
From: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2075007/
If you want to challenge any of these rules with a new vote, you need only to send the appropriate PM.
Be sure to provide your own phrasing so you can be directly quoted in the resulting journal.
PS: Does anyone need a recap on how to use the group's submission system?
MEMO: So quiet!
Posted 14 years ago(This is a memo from Draconicus)
It's awfully quiet in here.
Here I've put all this work into making an organized means of suggesting rules or plans - something we can all use without having to fight over who's in charge, and not a single member has tried to use it!
Is it too little too late? Are you all just very busy?
Whatever happened to Umber's pool hall idea?
Please let me know if you need a clearer set of instructions on how to submit an idea. This information will be provided on the main account page if it is needed.

Let's do something on Saturday! (19th)
We don't have any real plans yet. We could just hang out or do something fun!
Anyone have suggestions?
Who can come along?
'KitRuppell' wrote:Maybe we can try to go to Zooquarium? (yes, we probably will)
It seems that they open Saturday. Hours are 9:30 to 4:00, admission $11.75. It's not a big place, so it shouldn't take all day.
'draconicus' wrote:They might not be open yet, but Kit is optimistic.
There's a price for admission. Not sure what it is.
'Danruk' wrote:Zooquarium is good for a decent hour, perhaps two if we really stretch it.
It is MOSTLY outdoors petting zoo type area. Dress for weather accordingly as it's still very cool/chilly.
if we're lucky they'll have a fun indoor terrarium or birds demonstration that might waste another half hour or so.
if we're REALLY lucky, Fleck the fox and the pair of raccoons will be out/active/awake in their enclosed pens.
I propose 11am Meet Time for Zooquarium, then potential lunch at local Chinese good eats and/or Mall food courts.
Any entertainment or movie idea can be proposed by whoever is attending.

Starting again with a blank slate. [URGENT]
Posted 14 years agoHi everyone. Please read this thoroughly before responding to it.
I've been talking with
lonewolf_277, and we both agree that having a pile of drama-packed journals is not doing anything to benefit this group. The fiery arguments are getting hotter every day, and the most quenching solution seems to be to just wash it all away - delete the journals and start fresh.
Before the mass scrubbing occurs, let's kick off the new stuff so you can get a taste of what's to come.
This FA account is a tool.
The purpose of this tool is to deliver information about events that are a part of the Cape Cod Furs group.
Anyone can plan an event and submit it to become a journal entry on the account.
You can plan amongst yourselves and get every detail ready before submitting it, or you can just pile together some vague ideas and use the journal to help refine the plan. Anything goes, really.
A secondary function of this tool is to assemble a database of anyone who considers themselves a member of the Cape Cod Furs group. By using this tool you automatically put yourself on the list (by +Watching the account). Members can be from anywhere, even if you live in New Hampshire or something.
The shout page is used for just about anything, but it's a good place to throw in simple requests like "who wants to help me plan this?" or "hey could we go here?" - Treat it like a little message board, but please try not to flood it.
Requests and questions are just as good for full submissions. To submit an idea or question to the whole group. PM this account and/or
draconicus, and it will be submitted as a Journal in as much detail as is provided.
In the journal, your submissions will be quoted word for word. A unique journal will be created for every suggestion.
Submissions will not be reposted as they change - the journal will be edited to reflect the changes. Submit changes the same way you would submit a new idea, with regards to what you're editing.
If you are reading one of these journals and want to follow the idea, it's best to bookmark the page to keep track of it.
Submissions:
As stated before, anything goes.
-If you want to suggest a new rule or change an old one, submit a new post about it and a journal will be created (quoting you word-for-word).
-If you want feedback on a basic and unrefined idea, submit a new post and make your requests.
-If you have a well-planned event that's all laid out, submit a new post and tell the group all about it.
-If you want to submit a functional piece of information, like a member census or calendar, that will be submitted as a journal based on your specifications.
-If you want to submit artwork (such as a calendar) or photos involving the group, send a note and perhaps upload them to your own account first. They will be added to the gallery or scraps of this account based on your request.
If you are unhappy with the grammar in your submission, a member with English expertise can edit it for you if requested.
Right now there are no rules for the Cape Cod Furs group, its meets, or anything like that.
The only thing provided in this journal has been a "how to use the FA account" user's manual.
It will be up to you, the members of the group, to develop a set of rules and guidelines for meets over the course of the next week.
I encourage you to experiment. Start setting up your meets now - use the submission system provided and figure out what works best for everyone.
Everything from this point on will be decided with votes.
When you submit your idea and it becomes a journal, a vote counter will be tacked onto the bottom.
The number of votes required will account for the total number of watchers on this account. We'll have to set an expiration date of some kind in case some people never vote. If time runs out, the tallies will be counted as they stand. (you can even challenge the voting system I just described with a submission suggesting a rule change!)
Votes will usually only be present for rule changes and group suggestions that would require voting.
Obviously event ideas won't usually need a vote, but you can request one if you think it is needed for something.
There's no leader in this group. I don't think we should ever have any one person to dictate the rules. We are a very diverse group and I don't believe that any one person should be on top of group decisions indefinitely. Maybe we could vote for a leader of the week if you really feel helpless without one. Feel free to submit a suggestion for something like that - It'll become a journal that everyone can vote on.
