I think my desire to draw is coming back...!! I really hope so, this past year [? two years?? lmao] has been so super rough for me artistically and I'm desperate to break out. Lately I've been getting back to traditional work and doing some watercolor paintings, which is so fun.

Recently the wife and I got a kitten, she's brought a lot of super happy, sweet energy into the house too. She purrs at anything and everything and is very very naughty and playful. After losing Pepper I grieved harder than I ever have before in my life but now, a month later, I'm so much more relaxed and calm... I'm starting to feel really good again. I miss him every single day but it's not such a sharp pain, now.

How are you guys?? I really withdrew super hard over the past year or two, sorry about that.

My darling, sweetest angel boy Peppercorn, who we've had since he was a kitten 5 years ago, died in an extremely traumatic and unexpected way a couple of days ago and I'm incredibly fucked up over it. I've never cried this much in my entire life. I've lost pets before, cats and dogs, in various ways, but nothing like this. Absolutely nothing this awful. I'm so incoherent with grief. Every time I see the little clay pawprints we got from the emergency vet after his euthanasia or his toy basket, or even things like doritos (he'd always pester us while we ate them because he loved to lick the cheese off of the chip) or sponges/soft brushes (he'd steal them), I just tear up. I just cried for an hour thinking about holding him.

Basically things are really Not Great here but in general I've been trying hard to draw more, be more productive... I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle sometimes. Now I'm just trying to take some time to recover and grieve. It's fucking brutal.

Really random, upset journal here but I don't know if anything I've done the past couple of days makes sense. I don't know. I'm trying to find comfort wherever I can, I suppose.

Hello everyone! Sorry in advance about this mental breakdown, it's been like 2 years in the making *laughtrack*

I've come to the sloooow realization that I do not care for furries any more. Colorful designs in general I'm just... over. Recently I tried to get back into them because they used to bring me so much joy but I found that I got so depressed after drawing them. I'm stuck drawing cute people doing nothing, or porn. Visual appeal and nothing else. Nothing deeper, nothing meatier. Everything feels so shallow to me right now, like I'm desperate to evolve as an artist, and I feel like I'm being held back and I just need to shed everything in order to move on.

Anyway the thing I need advice on is this: Over the years I have amassed a pretty good number of characters, both designed by myself and adopted from others. Some of these things were given to me as gifts, some were part of a trade, and some I paid money for. I use all the characters I currently own, but - I now only use human alternative versions, which look barely, if at all, like their original design. Essentially they're the same in name only. I do not want to stop using these characters - many have intensely involved, long, intricate stories which I still deeply enjoy and love - but these characters are almost nothing like their original design.
There are a couple I intend to keep for nostalgia's sake (Raja, Capri, a couple of others). Otherwise, would it be morally acceptable to sell these designs? I know these things are still pretty damn popular and I think others could great a great deal of enjoyment from them. Here's a couple of sticking points...

1) if a design was traded/gifted to me (I did not pay money), but I have drawn or commissioned numerous art pieces of this character, is it still alright for me to sell this character?

2) if I did buy a character, but it was back when adoptables were pretty cheap-o and now this character has much more art, is it alright for me to sell for more than I bought it for?

3) the characters that I did not pay money for and have not drawn much, I will not sell. But I also don't want to trade designs, since I'm clearly not interested in amassing more. What would be the best way to give this character away...?? Draw-to-adopt, maybe?? Should I contact the original creator and see if they want it back...? Or should I just vault them away, forget about them, and not worry about giving them to anyone else?

Honestly, if you're a bro of mine, I'd probably just gift a design or two to you. I just want these guys gone and taken care of.

I say that, but I'm making more lesbian characters right at this moment, lol. I keep intending to make more varied characters (including some actual male characters) but they never seem to stick... ;;;

I often feel that gay boy characters are MUCH more prevalent. Anybody else feel the same way? I love cute gay characters too, but my lesbian army is definitely the overwhelming majority of my ocs, lol.

idk this might not work out because I'm drawing like a DRUNK TODDLER today and it's really frustrating! But maybe switching it up and drawing something spontaneous will help. SO give me a character, maybe I'll draw them, maybe not though, we will see

I went through all my old adopts the other day and rooted out old-loved ones that I don't think I'll be using any more. They all come with multiple pieces of art, though some of them had older art that got lost when I switched computers (particularly Georgette and Sicily), some were originally adopts that I have no idea where they came from either. 8( They're all fairly old!

Hey all!

I had an extremely hectic december - I unexpectedly worked full time for a few weeks and there was a very sudden and terrible death in the family. Combined with the stress of the holiday season... I got basically nothing done at all. I barely drew.

But I'm back on my normal hours at work, and finally have time to draw again! Unfortunately, I've lost my list of commissions. I always keep a document of all my current commissions info but lost it, and now I can only find an old version. If I owe you a commission, PLEASE NOTE ME! I'm doing my best to comb through my notes (which are an extreme mess) but I want to be very sure I'm not leaving anyone out.

Hi everyone!

So the last couple of months have had me move to a new apartment, get a job, and get married - and that's just scratching the surface, tbh - SO life has been pretty damn busy. Amazing, but busy. Thus a complete lack of posts (and a glacial pace on commissions, I am SO grateful for everyone's patience).

I'm trying to get back into drawing every single day, but now I work quite a lot and I'm finding it difficult. It's slow going. But I do feel I've been drawing more lately than I was a couple of months ago.

To all my commissioners, thank you, thank you, and thank you again for your incredible patience with me. You are all SO lovely and I appreciate it so, so much. Please drop me a note absolutely any time - I may not have progress for you (I do try), but I promise I'm not skipping off with anyone's money.

After 11 years of dating, we're finally having our wedding. <3 It is MEGA stressful, family coming from overseas and whatnot, and I made a really dumb mistake (that luckily got fixed nice and neat, I would like to thank not only god but also jesus), and picking people up from the airport in the middle of the night, etc etc etc. I'm really excited for the wedding but I'm also excited for it to be over lol.

life has been so crazy lately. I am currently housesitting for my parents while they and my brothers are on vacation, and in the day I am driving up to my apartment to pack. zydala and I move in 2 weeks. It's very overwhelming and tiring but I'm sllowwwly chugging along with everything I have to get done. Commission updates are coming too, I knock out progress when I have time, but it does take a while.

I've been annoyed at how thin and dainty my lineart can be, so I want to try a nice thick lineart brush, essentially. So! I need a couple of test subjects. These will be single character, full body, lineart + color for $40.

so you guys may have noticed I've been very quiet for a couple of months. I went through a really terrible depressive funk and I'm only just struggling out of it now. It's kind of hard for me to even talk about but I was getting super avoidant and I still want to keep everybody in the know, but it was the kind of deal where I was crying, all the time, for absolutely no reason. The slightest provocation would have me in tears and I was constantly upset and frustrated. Not very fun!!! I even stopped playing FFXIV for a while because it was difficult to be around anyone, online or no.

I've been actually sketching and working for the past couple of days, more than I have for the entire past 2 weeks combined, so I hope that's a good sign. I've been feeling a LOT better within the past couple of days too... enough to actually come online at least, lol.

aaaaand my tooth problems are ongoing... luckily I didn't need a root canal, as the nerve of my tooth is still ok, but the tooth is SUPER sensitive because there's almost nothing covering it. I went back to the dentist last week and after 2 hours and 4 attempts, he still couldn't get a temporary crown on, and had to slice off a section of my gums. U___U Sooooo sore. I go back for a permanent crown next week and hOPEFULLY that one will actually... stay... on...

some of you prob remember last year with all my teeth issues, basically my wisdom teeth came in totally fucked up and they impacted the hell out of the rest of my teeth. I had to have a root canal on my top very back left molar

wELL I went to the dentist the other day and as he was cleaning my chipped tooth (top very back RIGHT molar...) it just BROKE IN HALF

so now I have a fucked up little nub and the nerve is exposed and so sensitive and I can't eat anything too cold or hot and I'm crying, just crying forever

I usually update my commissioners multiple times when I'm working; 95% of the time I update for the sketch, the lineart, and the coloring/shading where these things are applicable for the commission.
Sometimes I don't update for lineart if no changes are needed after the sketch and just line and color and then show the commissioner, because it goes a little faster that way.

However, some people like the element of surprise with commissions, I guess, and only worry about changes afterwards?


How many updates do you like to get when you're getting a commission?
