I didn't have internet for a week before yesterday, so I'm only just seeing everybody's comments and stuff. The internet at our apartment randomly cut out for like 3 days, then my girlfriend and I drove up to wisconsin for a family reunion, then down to indianapolis for a friend's wedding.

My dog Ceasar also died on friday. He was 13 years old when he died, which is a damn good age for a German Shepherd, but the way the news was broken to me was a bit upsetting, and my mom didn't tell me until I got back from the wedding yesterday. I got to see him last week at least, but it was still kind of a shock. My parents house is so horribly empty now, since our other dog Amber died a couple of years back, and my parents are divorcing so they don't want to get another dog until that's all settled. Both of my brothers are really depressed about it. I am too but I guess I don't really know how to process it.

anyway! Dealing with the road trip, Caesar's death, and general art block really set me back, but I'm doing my best to get my butt back in gear to work on commissions and stuff. As always, if anyone has any questions, please feel free to send me a note at any time. <3

My very back molar on the top left side I think has had a cavity for a while... I could kind of feel a impression there with my tongue, and then just now I felt a bit of food and pulled it out with my nail and a tiny piece of my tooth came out too D8

Both of my top molars were super fucked up by the time I got my wisdom teeth out last year because they'd been getting pushed aside. u_u I got a root canal and a crown on the left one, I'm just really hoping I don't need a root canal on this one too because that would be the fukkin pits.

I'm curious! I quite like them because I think they give a commissioner a more accurate feeling of what a commission will properly look like at the end, but having said that, I've never bought one though. I certainly like doing them because they are very easy and go very quickly for me (since sketching tends to be the hardest part of a commission for me, even though I have a file filled with random poses I've drawn over time...).

How do you guys feel? Do you like them or not, and why? Do you prefer them to be a flat price for the first person that jumps it, or an auction? I'm curious to get feedback on this.

hello everyone!

zydala and I have been in an awkward living situation since last summer when I moved back home for my last semester of college. Our parents live only 10 minutes away from each other but it's often a toss-up which house we stay the night at and 90% of our belongings have stayed in boxes since we moved. Honestly it's just sucked. =m= On a whim the other day she was looking around at apartments and we found one that, if we get accepted for (which is looking very likely), we'll be moving into on the 20th!! YAYY

obviously moving is a real hassle so it may be hard to contact me around that time. I am always very punctual at replying to emails or notes, so if I don't respond for a couple of days I promise I'm not ignoring you, I just probably don't have the internet yet. :V

my 3 scenery commissions will be done before the move on the 20th (I'm shooting to finish them all by the 15th) and I hope to have ALL the commissions I just took on done by May... though I know that's a tall order, so it may be more like mid-May, but I'm seriously gonna truck through these! so, I'm coming to the end of this current round of commissions and thinking of where I want to take my art. I'd like to really start sharpening my stuff into nice, quality work, and I feel like I really enjoy painting and drawing scenery and backgrounds, but I don't do this enough! I'm always writing down little blurbs of pictures I want to draw that never get done. So! I'm thinking of offering some "characters in scenery" illustrations. They'd be clean, high-quality images where the color, character, and composition are as lovely as I can make them. I especially like to create emotionally evocative scenery work.

here's a smattering of the basic ideas I wrote:

under water, exploring a coral reef
under water, swimming through a kelp forest
under water, strongly backlit (focusing on the light coming through the water)
on the beach, exploring rock pools
sunset on the beach
in a snowy forest
beneath the aurora
relaxing in a bedroom (modern or exotic)

in a garden, lots of colorful flowers
bathing at a waterfall (a ych with multiple characters?)

So lately I've been doing a lot of landscapes and stuff and my general feedback has been that people want me to scale back to character art, which I do miss. Over the past year I've switched from using pretty much only sai to pretty much only using photoshop.

SO!! I want to do some semi-experimental colored sketchy commissions to get used to drawing characters/anatomy and stuff in photoshop. These will all be done today and tomorrow, ppppppossibly over the weekend if I'm unexpectedly slow. In any case, a pretty quick turnaround. They'll be fullbody and kind of rough around the edges, stray lines and all that.
