Just another one of these favorite to least posts i decided to do, this time ranking all the eras of the Nicktoons channel. Basically to compare the evolution and or devolution over the years.


Best

2003-2005 "Nicktoons" era- The era that i watched it the most, after we first got it on our DirecTV package.


2005-2009 "Animation Capital" era- This era was ok, though i didn't really like all the 3rd party cartoons being shoehorned onto the channel.


Decent

2002-2003 "Nicktoons TV" era- I only saw this version a little at a friends house, this was when the channel was cable only.


Worst

2009 and onwards "Nicktoons" era- Has gotten progressively worse over the years, including taking off the classic Nicktoons and putting live action stuff which should be on TeenNick. I don't know why???

I just wanted to express my view of all the phases of Toonami from the beginning to now, and how i personally rank all of them from best to worst


Best

TOM I and II- 1999-2003 (My personal favorite, this was when i watched Toonami the most.)

Current TOM era- 2012-present


Decent

TOM III- 2003-2007

Moltar- 1997-1999 (I only remember watching this version a little, as i was 2 1/2 when it first came on.)


Worst

TOM IV- 2007-2008 (Easily the worst, i never really liked TOM's design in this incarnation.)

If you thought TMNT III sucked the big one, then wait until you see these rancid turds which make that movie actually look good by comparison. The production values of these Turtles shows were sub par at best, this is where the Turtles were probably at their worst yet.

We Wish You A Turtle Christmas- (1994)

This is IMO the worst of the lot, as the horrible Turtle suits and stereotyped accents clearly show. One thing i found hilarious is the turtles' mouths still moving with no words coming out. Not to mention Splinter looks like total roadkill, but at least Mikey singing opera is worth seeing for laughs.


Turtle Tunes- (1994)

Same flaws as above, need i say more!!!


Operation Blue Line- (1990)

This was a PSA used to advertise the RTD Blue Line transit system in California, the thing i found funniest about this is the giant mascot cotumes. At least they got the actors from the cartoon series to provide the voices.

Today officially marks 41 years since America's #1 game show debuted on NBC's daytime lineup on January 6, 1975. And all these years later it remains one of the biggest staples of game show history, and may the wheel continue to spin for many more years to come.

It's hard to believe that the show is really that old, as it came on when my dad was not even five years old yet.

This is beyond exciting, i just found out that those two rare "lost" episodes of KaBlam! were unearthed by creator Mark Marek himself. And this coming after the discovery of the elusive "The Henry and June Show" earlier this year is a monumental event in of itself. I never thought that i would be able to see these eps finally see the light of day after so many years. This is truly a great day for all those loyal KaBlam! fans out there.

This was another old pilot ep i found on YouTube while browsing around, that being the pilot episode of Adventure Time which aired on the Random! Cartoons series on then Nicktoons Network back in December of 2008. It's hard to believe that it was originally pitched to Nick at one point. And then later went on to become one of CN's biggest flagship series a little over two years later, it's funny that i actually still remember watching this pilot when it first aired.


It's funny to see how different the animation looked back then, compared to the series proper.

I just found out that the show will indeed be revived by Cartoon Network sometime next year, over 10 years since it ended it's original run back in 2004. Genndy Tartakovsky himself confirmed that the show will join the Adult Swim/Toonami lineup beginning next year, it will most likely continue right where the series left off.

I for one are excited to hear this, as it was one of my favorite series on CN back in the day.

Maybe we'll finally get to see the series properly conclude, and see Jack finally slay Aku once and for all.

I just read that they will be making a Hey Arnold! TV movie at some point in the near future, and i'm thinking this could possibly be the long rumored Jungle Movie that's been in limbo since Hey Arnold!- The Movie underperformed back in 2002, which in turn caused both the second movie and the spinoff series called "The Patakis" to be indefinitely shelved. This is certainly a piece of news that i wasn't expecting at all. At least it will hopefully clear up the cliffhanger at the end of the Journal episode as to the whereabouts of Arnold's parents.

This week on "The Splat" they're going to be showing various Ren & Stimpy for the first half, but even better news is that on certain days the will be airing some classic Nick game shows. That's right folks, there will be eps of Legends of the Hidden Temple on as well as GUTS and Double Dare. This is going to be a good week!!!

I still haven't found out the entirety of next weeks schedule yet, i will update as soon as i find out.

The next two weeks on "The Splat" are going to be pretty good, as next week will be marathons of Clarissa Explains It All and The Ren & Stimpy Show the week after that I'm definitely looking forward to both coming up. Just goes to show how this block is better in variety than the previous one.

It has been over a week since the Splat block premiered on TeenNick, and so far it has lived up to what i expected it to be. It has shined more in terms of variety of classic program than The 90's Are All That ever did during it's entire run, and the fact that they're showing shows that haven't aired in any form for over ten years. Them also having theme weeks is a plus too, as it allows them to have a different variety in the lineups every week.

So I believe this block still has plenty of potential, as them airing stuff like YCDTOTV and Roundhouse clearly shows!!!

Just a little side note, the next two weeks set for the block are Hey Arnold!- Stoop Kid Week and Nick or Treat for Halloween week. I just cannot wait!!!

It's all come down to this people, as tonight will be The '90s Are All That's final broadcast before it officially rebrands into "The Splat". This has certainly been a mixed last 4 years, as we have seen the block go through some very high and low points in that time. I still remember tuning in to TeenNick that July night when it debuted to massive hype, specifically to appeal to us nostalgic 90's Nick kids. At least the new block will fix what had been plaguing the current one for some time, specifically in terms of effort and variety of classic programs. It seems like they're ready to start anew with this new block.

So i now say, sayonara '90s Are All That... It's been real!!

I don't know exactly what caused the site to go down about an hour ago, nothing has been explained as of yet. I would at least like to know what went wrong!!!

We are now officially less than a week away from "The 90's Are All That" rebranding into "The Splat", and i for one am very excited. This will be a much needed change after over a year of constant looping. We'll actually be getting more variety than the current block has had in nearly two years, and the fact that they will be showing retro 90's Nick bumpers and ID's makes it all the more sweeter.

You can bet that i'll have my DVR ready next Monday night!!! ^_^

I just read that "The Splat" will indeed launch as a block just a little over two weeks from now on TeenNick, effectively expanding upon and replacing the current "The 90's Are All That" block. It will be airing nightly from 10 PM to 6 AM, it is said to be airing the expected 90's and possibly early 2000's Nicktoons. But it will also be airing the game shows and live action shows like "All That", "Salute Your Shorts", "Kenan & Kel" and various others. I also read that they will also be using the old reto interstials and commercials like the doo wop bumpers, and with a rotating schedule that will change each night.

One thing is for sure, after constantly looping the same four shows for over a year on the current block. With only occasional breaks for special events, this is really needed!!!

I will definitely have my DVR ready when the night comes, i will sleep as much as possible during the day so i can stay up to watch as many of these great shows as late as i can.

I just heard a bit ago that both Kenan and Kel will be reuniting on the Tonight Show in a sketch based on Good Burger, i was totally surprised to hear this. I guess they must have resolved whatever feud they supposedly had with each other. I just wasn't expecting this to happen at all.

In a word, color me awestruck!!!

I just want to say upfront that the character designs look just plain weird, they definitely reek of the cheapness of Flash animation. It's just so jarring to see them looking all super deformed rather than having the standard look that they've (mostly) always been, and coming off a show as unique as Mystery Incorperated. Which actually took a chance and pushed into a grim, brooding atmosphere that felt refreshing from the usual norms of the franchise. This just looks about as cheeseball and campy as you can get, even more so than the sight-gag heavy "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" was.

I know it's still two weeks from premiering, i'm just giving you my assessment from seeing the promo.

I found some classic Nickelodeon bumpers while watching stuff on YouTube a while back, most of these were what i called the "white screens" when i was a kid. Watching all of these old bumps was quite the nostalgia attack!!!

These specific bumpers aired from the late 90's to early 2000's, i always loved seeing these when the shows went to commercial.
