I bought books...
General | Posted 3 years agoI had a couple of gift cards for a bookstore from Christmas, so popped out to their nearest location yesterday.
Now, I don't draw. I got a severe case of perfectionism when I was a kid, such that I can't really draw without graph paper and/or a ruler. It's great for drawing things, which I do on an infrequent basis, and I should probably take some drafting classes, but I have OCs I want to draw.
Anyway, while I want to buy a copy of Draw Yourself Calm by Amy Marcile (I flipped through it in another store and was impressed with the ideas and how they were presented), it's still a little outside of my budget right now.
So instead I checked out the discount shelf. Last time I was there, just before Christmas, I found a copy of a mini-biography of Alberto Vargas (the guy who drew a ton of pinup girls for WWII), so I knew there could be some gems.
This time, I picked up a book on beards (their history and some care and styling suggestions), and not one, not two, but three books on drawing.
Apparently my subconscious is trying to tell me something.
A coffee break guided sketching book (as in, each time you take a coffee break, you have time for one or two tasks in the book), a book on drawing map illustrations, and a figure drawing book.
The map book should be quite interesting, because in addition to how to draw maps (it appears to be more city maps than country maps), it also has suggestions for things to draw on the maps. Be it emblems, storefronts, or famous buildings.
The figure drawing book actually caught my attention first, for obvious reasons. I'm not sure how much of the lessons I'll be using to draw my OCs with, but I'm hoping it'll help me actually start drawing. Just because I have the tools to draw with (and on) and things I'd like to draw, doesn't mean I'll actually be able to get the courage up to start drawing...
I know what level I want to get to, but given my current lack of skill, I'd be embarrassed to show my attempts on here.
Thoughts?

Now with Ko-Fi...
General | Posted 3 years agoUnfortunately, while I still look for work, I still have bills. To that end, I've created a Ko-Fi page:
https://ko-fi.com/carlfoxmarten
If you can spare a few bucks, please feel free to toss a few my way. Every little bit helps.
I have no plans to hide anything I do behind paywalls, as I don't have enough creative output to do something like that.

Dead Succulent
General | Posted 4 years agoWell, it turns out that I definitely did overwater my Royal Flush succulent. When I first got it, there was a single leaf at the bottom of the stem (not that I could see the stem, given how fat all the other leaves were), which eventually had what little water it contained sucked out of it, before it fell off.
When I first got it, I had no concept of what "dry soil" was. As a result, I watered it at least once a week. I gather this is what caused it to split the newest leaves so quickly, as the base of both leaves would have swelled with more water, forcing the two sides to split apart.
But, just as you're not supposed to use any nitrogen-based fertilizer, or it'll bloat and rot, overwatering it does the same thing. Just, without the obvious bloat.
Eventually, I figured out that weighing the whole thing is the most reliable method of seeing how much water is left in the soil. It got down to 73 grams as the lightest it ever got before I watered it again, and I know this because I logged the weight in a notebook.
Initially, I'd soldered together a battery, an LED, a transistor, and a couple of resistors and a potentiometer, to make a soil monitor I could leave in the soil at all times. I later found out that electrolysis (the splitting of water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen) started happening at just 1.2 volts, and since I had a 3V battery on there, I was actually splitting the water, as well as watering the plant. Definitely won't be using that again.
Anyway, when I realized the lower leaves were rotting instead of having their moisture absorbed (which took a while, given my inexperience), I removed them from the plant, but unfortunately not soon enough.
It looked like a Piranha Plant from the Super Mario Brothers games, before the stem rotted enough to lean over. Then the leaves rotted enough to collapse back to standing up, but sitting flat on the soil. It looked very sad, and it was very obvious that it wasn't going to survive. So I threw it in the organics bin.
At some point, I'll be able to buy another one. I believe that I've learned enough to keep it alive longer, which may or may not be a good thing.
I'm also not convinced the soil they came with is what they're supposed to have. It's supposed to be a mix of one part cactus mix and three parts pumice, but they're coming potted in regular soil...

Festive Rainbow Lighting idea
General | Posted 4 years agoI've noticed that my favourite scenes to create are ones lit by rainbow-type lighting, like these:
Paper Lanterns: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/10455015/
(this one started out as cubes above a mirrored surface. It's amazing how far it's come, and how nice it looks by now)
Glowing Cubes: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38663781/
(animated!: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/42220109/)
Pole Lamps: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/10734700/
So, what I'm thinking is another scene like these, but of some kind of tunnel or hallway, lit with Christmas lights instead. Maybe I'll want to fade the colours along the lights, too, in another animated effect.
Which means I need to figure out what the hallway/passage/tunnel/etc looks like, as that will define how the whole effect comes through.
Any ideas? My skills are mostly for hard-surface modelling, and I'm not getting very many ideas just yet.

Glowing Cubes now Spin!
General | Posted 4 years agoIt's a little outside the scope of this website, but the scene I'd posted about Glowing Cubes is finally animated!

I'm (basically) caught up!
General | Posted 5 years agoI'd reduced the number of submissions in my inbox to less than a hundred once, but since I'm following almost three hundred people on here, a couple of days ignoring it has brought it back up to over two hundred again.
I should be able to keep it below three hundred relatively easily now, as long as I pop in every few days and clear a few days up...
Carl.

Weaving!
General | Posted 5 years agoYes, I am now the (relatively) proud owner of two cheap, wooden weaving looms. The first was a calculated estimate based on way too little experience, and I very quickly realized that frame looms (the cheapest form of loom I was able to find) are way too much work for someone who doesn't know enough of what he's doing to use comfortably and conveniently.
The second (which only cost me ten dollars more) actually had heddles (a sort of mesh-like structure that helps move every other strand of yarn up or down), which makes it way, way easier to toggle which half of the strands are up and which are down. It also has a built-in comb to help pack the added yarn down to make everything more even.
I have some pictures in various places, but I'm not convinced they fall into the category of things acceptable to post here. If you're interested, I can probably post pictures to my Twitter account and link to them here.
Anyway, the reason I'm trying weaving is to see how scarves made this way come out. I've crocheted several in a variety of styles, but they all have holes of varying sizes that don't keep out the strongest of Fall and Winter winds, plus the fact that they were all relatively thick for how wind-permeable they were. Even a minuscule 3mm hook (and appropriately slim yarn) still had lots of holes, plus it took way, way too long to complete.
The second loom I actually took the stuff they'd threaded the loom with when they packed it, replacing it with the same stuff I was going to weave with so it doesn't stand out if it peeks through.
It's actually incredibly straightforward to use, only needing about four or five quick steps each time I send the shuttle across. They include, sending the shuttle across, balancing the tensions of the newly-added weft, combing it down with the mounted comb, toggling the heddles to swap the threads around, and then sending the shuttle across and starting again.

Getting there!
General | Posted 5 years agoIf you check back through my journals on here, you'll be able to see that I've been working my way through a massive backlog of submissions in my inbox, starting at around eleven or twelve thousand individual pieces of artwork.
Well, I've finally managed to get it down to less than seventy-four hundred, and am actually up to this year.
I probably still need to pare down my watch list, but there's so many great artists on here I really don't want to...

Out of scenes to work on, collage?
General | Posted 5 years agoAnnoyingly, I've run out of inspiration on all the Blender scenes I had close to completion before I lost access to them. Everything I've posted recently was relatively close to completion already, I just had to add the finishing touches.
There are, however, other scenes that are in much less complete states. For example, I saw an artist's conception of what the ancient city of Carthage may have looked like, way back when, and started working on a scene inspired by it. I didn't get very far with it, unfortunately, but the concept is still there.
I know some scenes should probably get culled, due to them being nowhere near interesting for the most part, but there are some scenes I really like. Only problem is that I'm not sure which direction to head in with them.
Actually, maybe I should post a single picture for each scene I have in progress with notes about what direction I was thinking of taking with them, and asking for feedback...

New PC parts incoming!
General | Posted 6 years agoYes, it's probably ill-advised, but I used some of my tax return on a new graphics card and an SSD.
They'll be arriving later this week, as they didn't have either in stock locally.
I think mentioned that I stopped using my desktop PC back around 2016 due to having so much stuff pile up over and around it. Well, even back then it wasn't a very powerful PC, and had been very slowly collecting parts to replace it way back then.
When I finally started using it again, its age had definitely caught up with it, so I used the parts I'd collected (power supply, motherboard, CPU, and RAM) to upgrade it. It's about as fast as my laptop now, but I'm still annoyed by the graphics card (I'm not convinced it's not slowing the PC down under certain conditions) and how noisy the hard drive is. Hence why I bought a new graphics card and SSD.
I've opted for a relatively inexpensive nVidia GeForce 1650 with 4GB memory, which cost me just over two hundred bucks. It should be considerably faster than my old GeForce 550 Ti that had just a single gigabyte of memory. At least, I hope it's faster.
Also, because this is a PC as opposed to a laptop, my plan is to buy a few SSDs as I can afford them, which is a lot easier under Linux than Windows. For my laptop I bought a Samsung 860 EVO 1TB drive, and it's been doing immensely well in there, but I can't quite afford that much this time around, so I only went with the budget QVO version, which is apparently a little slower, but just a bit more than half the price.
I'm definitely going to have some fun when the parts arrive...

Back. Ish.
General | Posted 6 years agoWow. Been a while!
Lots of dust I'll have to deal with, but let's do that after this journal, shall we?
I am again jobless, after having worked for about five years (off and on) as a sewing machine technician, for the same company I was laid off from in a previous journal. I think the most fun I had with that job was before the layoff, as afterwards (once I was rehired) the boss way just way too paranoid about profits.
I quit due to a few factors, but I'd rather not go into that, it's still rather raw, despite having happened back in September.
I hadn't been able to participate in the annual panto for a local theatre company for a few years, so leaving at that time gave me the opportunity I needed to get involved with it again. Had lots of fun, but also burned through all the vacation pay that I hadn't used at all until quitting, so I'm essentially broke again.
These last couple of months have been rather difficult, as I find it difficult to put myself out there to find work, and mostly be rejected.
It might be better if I start with a temp agency first, then work up to other things. One thing I know for sure I can do is data entry, and apparently am relatively fast on the keyboard. According to one website I looked at, I'm about 8,500 keys per hour, which is about in the middle of the range looked for by an agency my sister used to work for.
If anyone has advice, I'd welcome anything you can recommend.

Interesting Projects: Magic Mirror
General | Posted 9 years agoI've been involved with a local theatre company for the last few years, mostly in the chorus (or ensemble, if you prefer), and have had lots of fun singing and (kind of) dancing on stage in front of some pretty good sized crowds. And while the company does a variety of different shows, I was mostly involved in their Pantomimes, essentially Christmas musicals based on fairy tales, and decidedly family oriented.
Anyway, my boss wouldn't give me Saturdays off to rehearse, so I can't actually be in the show this year, so I read the script anyway. Turns out they're doing Beauty and the Beast this year, and what version of that classic would be complete without a magic mirror? So I offered to make them one with special effects, effectively scripted lights.
And it looks great! If anyone is interested, I'll be posting another journal entry with a bit more detail on what it does, as well as links to some pictures, as I'm pretty sure they don't quite fit the usual criteria for posting here directly.
Final pictures won't be available until the show is over, of course, to give people a chance to see it in person first.

Saturday and Sunday at VancouFur 2015!
General | Posted 11 years agoI have been cleared of duties for this weekend, so I'll be at VancouFur on both Saturday and Sunday.
Not quite sure when I'll get there, save for in the morning, and leaving late in the evening as transit permits.
(I do not want to spend $60CDN on a single cab ride all the way home again...)
This year I have a fistfull of money earmarked for spending at the con, so I might actually be able to commission an artist or two, and to top that off I actually have a ref to use, too!
(of course, it helps that I'm getting paid next week too...)

On to the next play! Wait! VancouFur?!
General | Posted 11 years agoOh dear. I may have double-booked myself.
The theatre company I was with for the pantomime is also doing a second play showing in late March, with rehearsals starting on weekends at the end of this month.
Now, while I wasn't able to get a part in the play, I have been invited to participate in other ways.
(which have not, as yet, been decided upon)
For the moment, I'll be attending most of the rehearsals so I can build up an idea of how the show is going to work and how I can help.
Which means that there's a chance I may miss part of VancouFur.
"May" is definitely the keyword here, as I don't know if I'll be able to get either Saturday or Sunday off, and I'm pretty sure I'll be at work on Friday too.
Even if I can't get those days off, I should be able to spend the evenings at the con after rehearsals are over.
I'll keep this journal updated as things happen.

Panto half done! But still busy...
General | Posted 11 years agoThe magic wand I'd been working to fix last time is now working, has been fully decorated, and has been working perfectly thus far.
Fingers are crossed to help ensure it stays working until the end of the panto run.
Because after this run is over, I'll be starting major inroads into making sure the next one is going to work reliably.
Yes, that's right, I've been tasked with making the next magic wand for this theatre company! =^.^=
I've been listening to just about everyone who has a hand in how the current wand works, and will be using this to help shape how the next one behaves.
It'll still have a brilliant flashtube in the end, but this time we'll be able to change what the shape on the tip of the wand looks like.
Anyway, this year's panto is about half done and the reviews have all been fantastic, with people saying that it's our best show yet, so I'm pretty happy about that.
This weekend is another string of shows, so I'd better get to bed so I have enough sleep to run on in the morning.

Busy fixing panto stuff...
General | Posted 11 years agoYep, that's why I haven't been on here much in the last few weeks.
Before I actually started getting involved in the pantos of this particular theatre company, I'd seen several of their past shows, and the fairy always had a magic wand that could give off a bright flash when she invoked magic spells.
Due to a bit of electronics tinkering that I'd showed up with earlier, when the fairy broke her wand taking last year's decorations off it, and that meant breaking the wires off the circuit board, the director asked me if I could fix it.
I said yes, and for the last two or three weeks I've spent much of my spare time trying to get it to work again.
Yesterday, I actually got it working, and it's been cooperating nicely with the rest of the wand.
So next up is to finish making it look nice, write up some documentation, and hand it back over to the director and/or our props manager so the rest of it can be put together.
Not bad for somebody that's merely in the chorus, huh?

3. Tag four people to do this meme!
4. Tell people that they been tagged with a link from your journal
Note: I don't advocate forcing people to do this, so I won't be tagging anybody.
OC picked: Carl Foxmarten
1. What is your name?
Carl Foxmarten (no middle name as yet)
2. Do you know why you were named that?
Carl is a name phonetically similar to my creator's first name.
The last name is based on species. I'd started out as a plain Red Fox (or just "Fox" for short), then my creator realized that foxes are too generic in the fandom, and as he was listening to the audio version of The Legend of Luke by Brian Jacques, he decided to add Pine Marten (or "marten" for short).
As a result, Foxmarten was born. Though how a Red Fox mated with a Pine Marten I'll never know...
3. Single or taken?
Erm, not sure. Up until recently, I was quite single.
After an incident involving a dragon, a necromancer (or something), and an army of weasels, I seem to have attracted the attention of a certain Foxtaur maiden...
4. Have any abilities or powers?
Nothing further than an ability to create lots and lots of interesting tech.
My hover scooter is a rather useful tool for scouting about...
5. Stop being a Mary Sue!
Who the what now?
6. What's your eye colour?
Brown.
7. How about hair color?
Hair? What hair?
My fur colour is more a reddish brown, though...
8. Have you any family members?
I don't like talking about my family.
9. Oh? How about pets?
No pets for me. The Cross Time Cafe, where I spend most of my time, isn't a safe place for them...
10. That's cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don't like.
Danger.
It's much safer out of battle...
11. Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do?
Singing, long walks through the woods, reading a good book, small theatre productions.
Lately, playing hide-and-seek with the aforementioned Foxtaur.
It would work better if she didn't do such a good job of hiding, though...
12. Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before?
Until recently, not intentionally. (I think Mzzkiti finally forgave me for hitting her in the head with a drone when it lost power)
More recently, I had to knock out several guards and tie them up.
If they actually survived the necromancer's appetite, I don't envy them the lack of fur they'll get once the duct tape comes off.
13. Ever… killed anyone before?
*is quiet for a minute*
No. Don't think so.
Not yet, anyway.
Did get close at one point, though.
14. What kind of animal are you?
A Red Fox crossed with a Pine Marten.
Kind of a weird combination, or so I'm told.
Ah well, you can't help who you fall in love with, eh?
15. Name your worst habits.
Forgetting to eat because I'm in my lab working on projects is probably my most frequent bad habit.
Aside from that, probably being too quiet.
I don't always communicate very well, and my usual reaction to problems is to clam up and leave...
16. Do you look up to anyone at all?
Cecil Stewart. He's very tall, especially for a giraffe.
Oh! You didn't mean height-wise.
Um, just about anybody who created some new technology.
Probably Tesla the most, though.
17. Are you gay, straight, or bisexual?
Fully straight.
While I accept that gay guys exist, I ain't interested.
18. Do you go to school?
Had, at one point. Loved the instructors, was fascinated by the material, was bored by my classmates.
How in the world can Electrical Engineering attract such dull students?!
19. Ever want to marry and have kids one day?
Oh yes, very much so.
Well, if at all possible, of course.
Marry for sure, would love to have kids.
20. Do you have fangirls/fanboys?
Nope, sorry, I'm too boring for most furs.
21. What are you most afraid of?
Ridicule. Even the faintest hint makes me want to run and hide.
22. What do you usually wear?
Polo shirts and jeans.
23. What's one food that tempts you?
Oooh, too much choice. I honestly don't play favourites much.
Pizza, Chinese food, burgers and fries, fish and chips.
I won't eat squid, though.
24. Am I annoying you?
Not particularly. I'm still waiting for my CNC milling machine to finish the new frame for yet another of my test projects, so I have time.
25. Well, it's still not over!
I'm answering them fast enough, aren't I?
26. What class are you (low class, middle class, high class)?
Probably middle class.
Though I probably got upgraded to upper class after getting paid for my last adventure.
27. How many friends do you have?
Meh, who counts?
I have friends, that's good enough for me.
28. What are your thoughts on pie?
With or without the final 'e'?
Without, it's an important value that probably needs to be rethought.
With, it's best as apple with a very large helping of vanilla ice cream.
30. Favorite drink?
Jones soda. Either strawberry-lime, or pineapple.
I never did get into drinking tea or coffee...
31. What's your favorite place?
The Cross Time Cafe, though it's a pretty big place.
If I had to be more specific, either my workshop or the space garden.
I should take pictures of the garden and post them so other people can see how lovely it looks...
32. Are you interested in anyone~?
Well, Meri seems pretty taken with me, and I rather like her, so...
33. That was a stupid question.
Then why did you bother asking it?
34. Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean?
Oh definitely a lake.
Though the ocean does have some rather nice edibles in it...
35. What's your type?
My... type? What kind of type?
I've never had a girlfriend before, so I've no idea about "types"...
36. Any fetishes?
Sorry, that's for me to know and possible future girlfriends to agree to.
(and my eventual wife to deal with)
37. Seme or uke?
What on earth does that mean?
*looks up online*
Um, don't care. Next question.
38. Camping or indoors?
Seeing as the last adventure I was on got rather dangerous when we were camping, I think I'd rather do indoors stuff for the next few months.
But after that, I don't mind either way.
Just so long as I'm not doing it alone.
39. Tag people
Nope, not doing that.
This was more for my own interest, so I'm not forcing anybody else to do this.
If you want to, feel free to copy, especially if it helps you flex your literary muscles.

Panto 2014 - Sleeping Beauty
General | Posted 11 years agoIf anybody likes Pantomimes, and is in the area of Surrey during late December, or Maple Ridge in the first week of January, I'm in Sleeping Beauty, set to play at the Surrey Arts Centre and the ACT Theatre.
Rehearsals have already started, though not for very long, and I can already tell that it's going to be packing a whopper of a fun-punch! =^.^=
I've been watching the last few pantos the theatre company I'm with has put on, was in the chorus of last year's show, and I can tell that a lot of things are getting shaken up this time around.
Since the guy who played the Demon King for so long has now taken on the role of director, we've had somebody else step into that role this year, and since he was the comic lead for years as well, we've had to find somebody new to take that role.
If I don't miss my guess, I think we have about half our cast as new people, never being involved in one of our shows before.
Many of which haven't even seen one of our shows before...
Anyway, tickets are, apparently, for sale already, and I suspect we may even have some tickets sold already.
If you want a good evening of family-friendly fun, check us out!

VancouFur 2015
General | Posted 11 years agoI've already registered for VancouFur 2015, so I hope to see at least some of you guys there.
Again, it's being held at the Executive Inn and Conference Centre in Burnaby BC.
This means that, again, there is a Tim Horton's right on the corner, and it'll only be a couple of blocks from a SkyTrain station.
I'll definitely be spending time in the "igloo", aka the games room, where you can spend time connecting with other furs.

Way behind and catching up
General | Posted 11 years agoI was laid off due to unexpected circumstances a month or so ago, and haven't found anything further since.
With some of this free time, I'm going to make a dent in my inbox here, so if you see me faving art that's a year old, that would be why.
Artwise, I sometimes get inspiration happening faster than I can deal with, then have issues with being totally unable to capture the look I wanted, so nothing satisfactory is happening on that front.
(for example, in Girl Genius, there's a library in a round room three stories tall, which would look pretty darn cool, if I could only manage to make the geometry work!)
If anybody has suggestions for architecture-type stuff, I'd be interested in at least looking at it.
(not even going to approach organic modelling for a long while yet)
Oh, I've been involved in a collaborative story on a forum that some people might be interested in:
The Dragon and The Spires
Note that it has been going for over a year now, and it's almost come to a close, so beware.

Things in motion
General | Posted 12 years agoI've been with my current company (a quilt shop, where I help repair sewing machines in the back) for at least eight months now.
It's a pretty nice job, full-time, kind of relaxed atmosphere, definite feeling that I'm helping customers get their sewing machines working again.
Apparently, I never changed the status of my online job profiles (LinkedIn and another website) to indicate that I already have a job, and a recruiter for a large multinational company sent me a request for my resume.
This last Monday I had an initial phone conversation with them, and now I have a bunch of things to refresh myself on from my university career.
(the nice thing is that I've already dealt with a heck of a lot of this stuff due to the courses I've taken, so it's mostly review and refreshing)
Sometime next week we'll set a time for the technical interview, so we'll see what happens at that point.
Just in case you guys were wondering why I haven't arted in a while...

In case you were wondering...
General | Posted 12 years agoNot that many people would notice, but I've been out of touch here for quite a while.
There are a couple of reasons for this, the first (and most important of which) is the fact that I now have a job!
I'm now an apprentice sewing machine technician, which means that I repair sewing machines.
(in case you're wondering, yes, it is a fairly lucrative job. We've got plenty of job security right now because everybody's doing their Christmas sewing projects and having problems with their machines)
This is a full-time job, and combine that with the fact that I'm also rehearsing for a pantomime on the weekends, I'm incredibly busy.
As a result of all this busyness, I now have money in my pocket, but far, far less time for more creative endeavours.
At some point in time I will be doing what I can to resume my artwork, but for now you're going to have to wait a while longer.
Maybe I'll post a few pictures of the scarves I'm crocheting while I wait to go back onstage during the rehearsals...

Vimeo account
General | Posted 12 years agoYou can find me on Vimeo now!
I'm Carl Foxmarten, as are all my art-related online accounts.
I've already uploaded an animated version of my Paper Lanterns image:
https://vimeo.com/65707792
It's only about two seconds long or so, and I'm already working on rendering out a longer version, as I'm intrigued at how the physics simulations play out.
It'll take a couple of days to complete, and I will post here again when the new video comes out.

About Me meme
General | Posted 13 years agoStolen from
StrawberryNeko just because...
1. We all know what we call you, what about the folks at home? What's your name?
Daryl. Close enough to Carl that I can react to both relatively easily.
2. How tall are you?
Dunno, I haven't measured myself in years.
3. Natural hair color?
Light brown.
4. What about eye color?
Dunno. I never look in a mirror close enough to notice... =>.>=
5. What orientation are you?
Straight as a board.
6. Are you single, taken, or undecided?
Single, not yet looking.
7. What do you do in your spare time?
Browse the internet (which is why I'm here), or create 3D art, write small programs, and/or design stuff.
(the "stuff" part is rather flexible, you see...)
8. What's your job?
Paper carrier, for the last, oh, twelve years. Definitely time for a change.
(my preferences would be one of the following: Software developer, game developer, university teacher)
9. What's one thing you like about yourself?
Um, not sure. There's very little I actually like about myself really.
I can learn certain things fairly quickly, I suppose...
10. Alright, now what about something you dislike about yourself?
I'm a perfectionist.
While it's great for some things, it's horrible for just about everything else.
11. What's some things your friends noticed about you when they first met you?
12. Of what faith/religion are you(if any at all?)
Christian, though more relaxed than most that call themselves that.
After all, Jesus did say to Love everybody.
13. Do you drink?
On occasion. Only at home, and usually only one bottle per evening.
It's rare, though, because it's an expense I can't really justify right now.
Remember this word: "Moderation"
14. Do you smoke?
No way.
15. What are your fears?
Rejection and ridicule, mostly...
16. What are your dreams/goals?
Eventually publishing a game I've been thinking about for the past six years.
17. Ever had any crushes/ex's in the past/present?
No exes, no real crushes.
18. Who's your best bud?
Probably Stephan.
Though I don't think he has an FA account here...
19. Alright, you got the cravin' for munchies, what'cha reachin' for?
Doritos mostly, sometimes potato chips (dill pickle, salt and vinegar, sour cream and onion).
Though nothing really comes close to a nice cheese.
Especially applewood-smoked cheddar or jarlsberg.
20. Favorite drink?
From a self-serve soda fountain, two parts Coke, two parts Root Beer, and one part or less of Sprite.
Otherwise, probably a Jone's Soda.
21. Favorite color?
Green and/or purple. Depends on what it's being used for.
22. If you had any super power, what would it be?
Probably flight. Or something having to do with working on or with machines.
23. Favorite movie?
The Princess Bride of course!
24. Least favorite food?
Not many that I don't like, but calamari would definitely top the list!
25. Quick! You have only one meal left before you die!!! What is it?
Probably a White Spot Cheddar Bacon burger with fries and a large, chocolate milkshake.
26. What do you drive/wish you drove?
Want: Some version of the Knight Industries Three Thousand. =^.^=
Have: Nothing. Not even a driver's license.
(kinda pathetic for a 28-year-old, huh?)
27. Most disliked bug?
As in pest? Dunno, probably anything that tries to eat me. Otherwise I'm pretty relaxed on them.
28. Most hated pet peeves?
Too many to count, let alone list some of here.
29. Dislike in life?
The unfairness of life.
That's probably the thing that was thrown in my face time and time again as I grew up... =>.<=
30. Most annoying?
Same answer as for #28, too many to count, let alone list here.
31. Most disliked TV show?
Any current 2D cartoon.
Something really bad must have happened to cause every single new show to have crappy artwork... =>.<=
Otherwise, probably The Big Bang Theory, because they make fun of geeks.
Remember to pass it along!

Summer job
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm going to be even quieter come March, as I've finally got a summer job lined up.
It's with a lawn aeration company working on a day-to-day basis, so if I have a problem I can say I need a week and they'll give it to me, no problem.
If their spiel is any indication, I should be making at least a hundred dollars a day (vs the hundred a month I'm making with my paper route right now), and the harder I work, the more money I make.
It's also something that should boost my confidence level to a point where I should be able to get a better job once the summer is over.
After all, I have a nice, shiny BSc in computer programming that I've had for a year now...
Anyways, more info once March arrives.
