Say Goodbye to the Patreon

I come from the depths of reality to reveal that I’m quitting Patreon.
It had unfortunately become a source of mental anguish in that I simply couldn’t keep it up. And to keep it going would lead me to feeling guilty that well-meaning people would subscribe to then never see any uploads except for the older posts. Patreon itself wasn’t being of much help either.
My thoughts are scrambled right now due to the anxiety of having ripped this band aid off so please excuse any rambling!
Any future illustrations will be posted here from now on according to my random, once-in-a-blue-moon schedule.
(I’ll post any that are still on Patreon but not here as well).
You all are wonderful people. Thank you so much for sticking with me. Hope to see you soon and here’s to a better 2024!

Life and ugh
Posted 3 years agoDon’t you just feel like you wanna crawl in a hole and just…not come out for a while?
I have not been feeling myself at all lately, despite things in life having turned for the better.
So things have just been…ugh for no discernible reason.
One thing is for sure, I’ve decided for the foreseeable future not to do commissions. Between a full-time work schedule and weird mental hang ups I’ve been having lately, it’s simply the better decision for me at this time. Doesn’t mean I’ll never do them again. Just right now I can’t put forth the mental energy and that’s not fair to you.
But this will also allow me to focus more on my own work and characters. I have a better grasp of what I want to do with them and their stories. Comics are a ways away, but not an impossibility. My work ethic is shit as it is, so this is something I really want to build up to.
Anyways, I hope all of you are well and thanks for sticking around despite my lack of uploads. And welcome to the newbies too. I’m happy to know you saw something here that made you want to see more.

As for life news, Norco and I have decided to make a new life here where we landed. Our friends have been more than generous, so now we’re looking for a house and new jobs.
Back with my folks, the house needed more care than originally thought. There was water damage so carpets had to come out since there was mold beginning to grow. We lost a few personal items but nothing that can’t be replaced. Overall we were very lucky with this outcome.

Hurricane Ida — Emergency Headshot commissions

Three days ago, Norco, myself and our dog Zoey evacuated from southeast Louisiana along with my parents whom we are living with at the moment. We are staying with some friends while they went on to my brother’s place.
I doomed-watched the local news broadcast as Ida just ravaged my childhood home. No, I shouldn’t have done that as it’s anxiety inducing, but, my brain wouldn’t relent. Norco and I scoured for any little drop of info we could find while my parents depended on family and friends who stayed behind to ride it out.
Despite all odds, it seems our house made it out ok. The problem now is that we can’t go back for the foreseeable future as there is no power, water, cell service…basically nothing that would make living comfortable. No one is allowed back in until most services have been restored.
With no job to return to for now, and my funds rapidly shrinking (bills unfortunately don’t know what a hurricane is) I’ve decided to initiate some emergency headshot commissions. I don’t have full details yet, as my fuzzy brain is still coming to terms with a lot of things, but do look for them in a follow-up journal.
To anyone else dealing with the aftermath, I hope you’re safe tonight.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their insights and honesty to my Patreon question in my last journal. I’m very bad at asking for help and making myself vulnerable in general so this was a big step outside my comfort zone. I couldn’t get to answering everyone so I decided to do this update journal.
A lot was taken into consideration (as well as a lot of anxiety) and I did what I should’ve done in the beginning : I asked my patrons.
A poll was taken and the end result was it’s ok that the monthly exclusives be released after 2-3 months as low-res images. (They’ll more than likely have watermarks and such too) So in the coming weeks, I’ll be releasing the first of these which was the April exclusive.

This shouldn’t be this hard!
Posted 4 years agoI’ve been doing some Patreon exclusives for a few months now but how do you feel about them being uploaded here after a few months? And this is mainly about the full color ones I put up teasers for here. Does that negate their exclusivity or is it common practice? I genuinely worry how people will react if I do that.
I’ve had some friends reassure me that it’s something a lot of artists do. But then what’s the appropriate time to wait to upload here?
I’ve been going back and forth on this for weeks now and something in my brain just keeps me from making a decision, like I’m letting down my patrons if I upload exclusives here.
In the meantime, I’d appreciate any input from you guys. I trust your opinions.

Moving is hard!

Things have been rough here the past couple of weeks. Norco and I had to move out of our house of two years and back into my parents place. One of our roommates got a job across the country and we couldn’t afford the place without them. So we’re back a square one.
He has an amazing opportunity up in Memphis to work for a friend of ours. But everything is working against us. You would think getting an apartment wouldn’t be this complicated. But a recent new requirement of having a 6 month work history in Memphis is royally screwing up all our plans.
A lack of sufficient funds is also putting a damper on things. Apparently our money isn’t good enough for some people. *angry face*
I also wanted apologize for not posting in a while. Reality unfortunately likes to put a damper on my creative processes.

But, like most others in the world, being furloughed from work kind of forced me to take things into perspective. I started focusing on doing the things I liked and not rationalizing myself out of doing something that made me happy. That’s when I came back here. I started slowly but I was happily surprised and delighted to see that you all were still here and were still more than happy to support my art.
As you may have figured, especially on the discord channel, I’m not the most talkative person. It takes me many agonizing and anxious minutes to figure out how I will respond, or even start a conversation. But putting up a drawing has become my way of talking with you guys. Know that, even if I don’t reply back, I read each and every comment and it brightens my day.
If the title didn’t give it away, I’m celebrating a quiet birthday this year. But I also wanted to take this day and let you in on a few updates and new things that’ll be coming around next year. I shared a Patreon with my husband, Norco, when he still had his page. It’s still around but it’ll be getting a reboot. I’m reworking the tiers and rewards to better work with my schedule, as well as some new rewards, such as art streams, tutorials, etc.
I know some of you have been clamoring for art streams from me and they are still in the pipeline, but I’ve recently realized that I don’t have all the necessary equipment. I currently do everything from my iPad and, despite my best efforts and searching, I can’t stream from it alone. I need some kind of desktop/laptop. This leads to my next announcement: I’m revamping my commission prices and adding some new options, like sequence pieces and character sheets. All this should be up sometime next month.
Speaking of which, I’ll also be getting ready to move! I’m also currently looking for a new job so hopefully next year proves to be much, much better. We all need it to be better.

As the world falls apart around us, as things seem bleak and foreboding, and as the weather cannot decide what to do, I’ve decided to do what I can to at least make some people’s lives brighter.
I’m opening commissions.
The truth of it is: I’m in need of your help. This year has hit me pretty hard. I’ve been furloughed since March and am not sure when I’ll be able to go back to work.
For this reason I’ll be opening rotating commission slots. Basically, I’ll have five slots open. Once the first slot is finished, all others move up opening up the last slot. As the world falls apart around us, as things seem bleak and foreboding, and as the weather cannot decide what to do, I’ve decided to do what I can to at least make some people’s lives brighter.

The truth of it is: I’m in need of your help. This year has hit me pretty hard. I’ve been furloughed since March and am not sure when I’ll be able to go back to work.
For this reason I’ll be opening rotating commission slots. Basically, I’ll have five slots open. Once the first slot is finished, all others move up opening up the last slot. I hope you all have been able to keep your spirits up through these last few...interesting months.
First off, I want to apologize for my long absence. I tend to get burned out if I only focus on one thing for a long time. I do love what I draw, but there are times when I need a break or want to try my hand at other things. This is why I’ve turned to other mediums during this time. Trying my hand at acrylics and oil pastels, things I wanted to get back to but hadn’t the time nor the money.
Which brings me to my next point. I’m considering starting an instagram account for my various artworks, including some of my tamer furry art from this account. It would be under a different name to differentiate it and would be a way for me to show off my other works, things I would not necessarily put here. I would love some input from you guys on this especially since knowing I’d have your support would be encouraging. Not to mention I’d be exciting to know what you think of my non-fur artwork!
I’ve also been considering staring a discord chat. Norco has one and he’s been trying to get me more involved, but my little introverted self simply wasn’t to keen on the idea.
But I figured this would be a much easier way for me to connect with you guys, discuss things and stuff in a way that FA just isn’t really set up for. Let me know what you guys think!

Moving and Life Upsade

Firstly, I want to apologize for my silence on here. Life has been incredibly hectic for me and my husband these past few months and we are only just now seeing the light on the other end of the tunnel.
A lot has been happening with us. Too much to put into a journal, so I will give you the Quick Version:
- After a long struggle, we are losing our house, but are moving in with friends in the city.
- My husband had a relapse with his health issues, but is finally on the mend. ( I like to think I'm a pretty good nurse to him.)
- I still have the list of commissions, and will be finishing them pre / post move. I cannot thank you all enough for your patience with me.
- I love you all.
Again, I am sorry for the delays. I never wanted anything to take this long. Life has been unusually mean to us, but we have been doing the best we can.

Why we've been so quiet / A plea for help.

I'm sure you're all wondering why I've been so quiet lately. The reason is that my husband's medical issues have gotten much worse, and we were kicked off of our insurance in October. Because he is a stubborn bastard (he refuses to ask for help) he waited until now to finally reach out. We set up a Go Fund Me to help afford his doctors bills and medications.
He is a wonderful, sweet man who has been through hell more than anyone I know, and somehow always comes out with a smile. He supports me more than anyone else and is the one that convinced me to post here for you. We are both poor artists and until we can get insurance coverage again, we simply cannot afford his medication. The pharmacists today told us that even with all the coupons and Good Rx they could apply, it would still be nearly 900 for THIS month alone. And we still have December to consider.

Full Body Commissions Opening Soon!

First of all, I want to thank all of you who have made my love posting my work here. I have to admit I was hesitant at first, but the warm welcome you all gave me has made me feel at home. So, Thank You!
Secondly, I have been needing a new computer for some time, and my old Mac is finally on its way out. I'm saving for an iPad Pro, and hope to get ProCreate. Has anyone used ProCreate? I'm curious to see how it stands up to good old photoshop.
Thirdly, to help pay for said computer, I'll soon be opening up some full body / full color commission slots, so keep an eye out for the official announcement. I'll have an example and price sheet up soon!
