After Experimenting with Posting Times This Week...
Posted 4 months agoIt's safe to say that I'm not sure when or what is a good time to post anymore. It seems to change a lot too. I've seen people post consistently during the morning, late morning, afternoons, or evenings. I only post during my mornings because it's when I have the most time. So... as a result, I think I'm gonna just stop trying to find a good time to post moving forward. I'll just post whenever I'm able to or feel like it. If it's that volatile, then there's no point in trying. Lol
This isn't a rant, but just a declaration to myself to just post whenever I have art to post. Just don't post on certain weekdays because the outreach isn't that big.

Question for Artists -- Posting Times
Posted 10 months agoA lot of artists that I follow tend to post based on a schedule. Do you all follow a scheduled time for you to post your work? When does it work best for you?
I'm asking because I want to regain total control over my work schedule and finally not second guess myself.

Updates - Recovery
Posted a year agoSo as you probably know already, I suffered from extreme burnout these past few months. This was the result of the last two years being some of the worst I've experienced with financial instability, consistently changing demands in real life, and exhaustion.
I'm back for the most part. But I'm slowly inching my way back. I have some priority changes that should make life a lot easier.
- For those of you who've been waiting on me to finish a commission, I'm sorry that I've been unable to balance my priorities. If you've been waiting longer than a year, I'm just refunding you. You know who you are.
- I realize that drawing random characters and backgrounds despite how 'pretty' the art looks means very little on this site. And that's ok! Sure I will draw some of my various OCs from time to time, but I think I will narrow my character field so that people can follow and get to know some of these OCs a little better.
- I'm going to step away from drawing complex art for just a little longer. Pairing complex backgrounds with characters is too much work right now. And with the low amount of feedback I get (comments, favs, etc.) from these drawings, the effort isn't worth it. Those will no longer be posted on my fA.
- I already did this earlier this year, but commissions are closed for now until I can figure this art-dayjob-life balance thing. Not only that, but with all the emergencies, life issues, and frustrations that my partner and I had to deal with, there doesn't seem to be a stable schedule that I can rely on to make things work. Commissions will reopen when I can get my life organized. It's completely unfair for people who've been patiently waiting (even if the deadline is indefinite).
As for the following:
- There will no longer be anymore All Tomorrows art. I expect to put out my last one at some point to commemerate the ride.
- I'm currently working on a few projects and deviating from 'drawing without much thought'. I want to tell stories and to make cool characters.
- There will be three one-shots. They will be posted here sometime next year.
-
has introduced my OC, Near Velscave into his canon. It will be my turn to introduce his OCs in my work. More on this later...
Now that I'm back to some degree, I want to start readjusting things so that I can start getting things under control. I've been drawing for myself recently, but I don't have very much to show because they're not relevant to my goals and I'm not interested in posting things that don't interest people (newly made OCs, vent art, whatever). Thank you for listening to my rambling.
PS. Due to my newly found priorities and schedule, I'm going to post things on here on a different schedule- and less often.

August 10th, 2024 - Real Life & Moving
Posted a year agoAs mentioned above, I've been getting kind of busy in real life. I'm in the process of moving (new apartment and all) and I need to divert most of my attention away from getting art done. I will still be drawing in the background, but I won't be posting regularly for at least 2-3 weeks. If I finish things, I will post from time to time! But I currently need to use this time to figure out some things in real life.
I'll post a couple of things tonight, but I hope that you all understand. It's just another layer of turbulence on top of an already difficult two years.
Stay tuned!

July 19th, 2024 - Apologies, Art Progress, etc.
Posted a year agoI'm sorry that I didn't post anything last Saturday. It broke my posting cycle a little, yes, but I actually didn't have any finished drawings to show for that week. I was also fighting a mix of burnout and a disinterest to keep moving forward as an artist. On top of that, a lot of the drawings I've worked on recently have a lot of fine details that I need to consider. Rest asured- there will be more drawings from me this coming Saturday!
As of writing this, my WIP count is now sitting at 135! This has been an extremely exhausting past eight months as I hurtle through everything that needs to be done. For those of you who don't know, it's literally everything- personal work, art owed, commissions, portfolio pieces- EVERYTHING. As an artist (and completionist), I want to hold myself accountable for the drawings that I start and I'm tackling everything at once. Everything will be finished and once I reach that milestone, I might actually just take a short break before continuing. Post-break, I will continue drawing various things, but I want to get the ball rolling on a few projects as well. More details on those for another time.
Lastly, I've been noticing that I'm still getting fav notifications of my extremely old All Tomorrows art. I genuinely appreciate the support and I'm glad that people really like that... crusty... old art... but on the other hand, it's stuff that I don't really like anymore. I still appreciate All Tomorrows and I still draw it from time to time, but it's that artist mentality of 'ugh... old art with poor anatomy, bad lighting, etc.' I'm not deleting any of them as they were pivotal to how I became a better artist, but I will be moving them to the scraps section so that I can let my newer art breathe. I just want my newer art (AT or not) to stand on their own without the older fan art looming in the background. I'm not telling people off nor am I disregarding the fandom (again I still draw AT from time to time), I'm just trying to focus on other things at this time.
Whether you discovered me through my old art or appreciate the work that I do as of late, I want to thank you for your support and understanding. It has been such a difficult (and unusual) year and I've been trying my darndest to continue uploading, showing support to my fellow artists, and to deal with real life matters simultaneously. You all keep me going and I hope to deliver more art for you in the not-so-distant future. Stay tuned for Saturday!

UPDATE -- I'm Back! - (2024)
Posted a year agoAfter a few weeks recovering, I'm back in business! I'm continuing where I've left off and finishing the rest of my WIPs. Commissions, Portfolio Pieces, etc. are not forgotten. I'm just trying to catch up with everything altogether at once. I'm also trying to figure out the timing of my posts and seeing which timeframe reaches the most people at once. While I've pinpointed the weekend (notably Saturday) to be the best time, I will be posting at various points of the day. Please bear with me!
WIP wise, I'm now at about 134 WIPs on my docket. If things work out the way they should, I should be able to finish everything by the end of July (fingers crossed). Life has just been really hectic and despite the new year, I haven't seen much improvement in my life since 2023. Things have not been doing too well, but my partner and I are working EXTREMELY hard to make sure that we can get everything back on track. The WIPs in question are also part of that journey.
In the meantime, thank you all for your support and understanding as I strive to finish everything. I know for a fact that once I've completed all of the WIPs, I will be taking some time off from art. I've been feeling a lot of burn out, which has resulted from a mix of things ranging from real life frustrations to career goals and doing my best to make ends meet. 2024 is still a chaotic year and there's a lot of reflecting that I'd like to do before progressing.
Otherwise, I wish you all a Happy Pride! I hope your month (and year) has been just as good as mine!
Best,
Caz

UPDATE - Wrist Injury
Posted a year agoAfter an aggressively successful drawing session throughout the week (with little details) and meeting the demands of my day job... I have officially sprained my wrist. I tried drawing yesterday and my wrist and arm were in pain.
I feel a lot better today, but I'm not getting a clear-cut answer from the web as to how long I should rest before I get back into it again. As a result, you won't see a lot of art from me this weekend. I'll post some WIPs in my scraps so you know that I've been hard at work and you'll also see what may have aggrevated my injury.
All in all, it pains me to say this, but I need this weekend off. Again, I'll try to post some WIPs and a drawing or two, but I'll probably be out of order for a few days to resolve this issue.
Thank you all for the support and understanding.

MAY 4th, 2024 - UPDATES
Posted a year agoHappy May 4th everyone!
There's not much to report right now. I've simply been readjusting to a day job that involves manual labor again and I'm still finishing -everything- on my docket. Commissions are closed so that I can focus on my current commissions and art owed to people as well as portfolio pieces, WIPS that were meant to finished, and then some. I want to hold myself accountable for -everything- so that I can finally move on to bigger and better things.
If trajectory goes as planned, I might be able to finish this during June or July. Fingers crossed!
Otherwise aside from the usual doom and gloom of real life, I'm doing alright. I hope you are too. 2024 has not been particularly kind, but I'm pushing through it the best I can and hoping that all of the things that I have on my docket are 100% accomplished.
Thank you all for the support and for being awesome people.

APRIL 13th, 2024 - CURRENT STATUS
Posted a year agoI had a rut where I was burnt out from drawing for a week or so. Being constantly focused on drawing while worrying about real life issues took a lot out of me. But it's nothing to worry about! I still made a good amount of progress and I'm now down to 152 WIPs! It's crazy to think that I started out with 416 WIPs when I first took on this task last year.
Just as a refresher and for those who do not know- I've had a rough 2023 and I've accrued too many WIPs over the past several years. Combined with the commissions that I owe currently (you know who you are), I've been doing everything in my power to finish EVERYTHING that I haven't been able to finish. Many of these include personal projects/characters, art that I owe people, portfolio pieces, gift art that I've been meaning to finish, and more.
So I've been making it my life's mission to ensure that all of these WIPs are finished before I can move on with other things in my life.
I also got myself a new day job- but do not worry! This job isn't a full time nightmare like before and I found ways to better manage my schedule so that I can draw even more without feeling overwhelmed. Everything will continue as normal.
Once I finish my current three commissions AND reach a certain WIP count, I will reopen commissions. But I would like to get all this done first.
Thank you all who've stood by me from the start, hello to new watchers, and a toast to getting this all done!

Art Progress - So Far So Good! - (2024)
Posted a year agoSince I last posted a journal update, I've narrowed my WIP count significantly. I started at 468 WIPs earlier last year, but my total WIP count now sits at just 178. It literally fell by 290 WIPs and I feel rather accomplished with everything I've completed thus far. Real quick for those unaware, I had a bunch of unfinished art from 2017 - 2023 that I never got to (ESPECIALLY from 2023). All of this included art that I owed people, portfolio pieces, personal art, gift art, and anything project adjacent.
I have two commissions sitting in my queue right now that I need to finish. They're also part of the 178 that I intend to finish as soon as I can. 2023 was horrible and life has been throwing curve balls at me ever since, but I'm still pushing forward so that -everything- can get done.
I will continue to post every Saturday, but I will also post at various times during the week (minus Sunday and Monday) to catch up.
Seriously though, thank you all for your patience and understanding while I navigate this frustrating chapter of my life. Once I've finished a substantial amount of WIPs + finished my two remaining commissions, I'll reopen commissions again and also figure out a realistic path towards freelancing (I'm not taking another physically demanding job with a conflicting schedule again).
Thanks again.

We're Back! - A 2023 Reflection and What's in Store for 2...
Posted 2 years agoHappy New Year! 2024 is finally upon us and I'm excited to get back to work. This one's going to be long so bear with me.
To briefly reflect, 2023 wasn't the best for my partner and I. It was marred with a sudden move, rocky finances, a crappy day job, way more sick days than usual, and uncertainty. Having to juggle all of these issues, it left me with a growing sense of pessimissim, fear of failure, and a constant stream of disappointment after disappointment. I was mentally torn and unable to work on the things I wanted/needed to do. While I was able to regain creative footing again at the end of October, some of these issues continued to linger throughout the end of the year.
So now what?
For starters, I want to give myself time to breathe in 2024. A typical week during 2023 kind of looked like this:
I worked a day job 40 hours a week. (M-F)
I did have a weekend. But that was mostly used to draw, post things and run errands.
I didn't give myself any time off and it left me mentally exhausted. My overall health tanked because of this. Managing a better work schedule will be at the forefront of my priorities this year.
What else can you expect from me this year?
1.) I will be finishing the rest of my WIPs. I put a good dent in it since late October, but there's still a lot to finish (including the last commission in my queue).
2.) Creating a manageable workflow. I'm now in a better mental space to find a part-time day job while giving myself room to freelance (and to relax).
3.) I want to create a small list of characters that I would love to draw constantly. Anchors if you will so I'm not just constantly creating new characters on the fly.
4.) Expanding my drawing capabilities. I want to draw more humans, non-furry characters, backgrounds, and the like.
5.) I would also like to post a bit more regularly, but in a way that isn't going to stress me out.
6.) A project or two by the end of the year? I don't know. Let's take a step at a time and see how doable this is!
I will be posting some art that I worked on during the holiday break in the coming weeks as well. Here's to a great 2024!

LIFE UPDATE -- September 4th, 2023
Posted 2 years agoWhat a summer. Or rather, what a year it's been. Unexpected issues that required my attention in real life, moving, working myself to the point of being sick multiple times, job searching, working on art/my day job and everything else in between. Combined with being out of commission (no pun intended) for weeks on end, I honestly cannot believe that it's already fall.
I want to apologize to everyone for not being as active or communicative as I would've wanted to be. I tried. I really did. But so many things happened during the year that it has taken me away from everything- even self-care. Every time something ends, another thing takes its place. It's been a constant go-go-go that never ended.
So what now? I'm going to continue working on art that I owe and art that needs to be finished. I want to try to retake control of my work-life schedule and put more emphasis on self-care. I want to get things done, but I also want to make sure that the schedule that I have is doable. In addition to that, I will open a Trello so everyone can see my work progress in real time.
Art postings have resumed and I will be looking for a better posting schedule. Some art you will see from me in the next few weeks or so will be posted out of order (different dates), but please bear with me!
In the meanwhile, I will continue to update this journal so that everyone can see the status of the art that I owe and then some. Here's to a great last half of 2023!
1.) COMMISSION ::

Posted 3 years ago400 WIPs on the wall~
Like, no kidding, I have 400 WIPs that I've accrued from the past four years. Combined with job searching for my first industry job and keeping up with my portfolio, it's been a pretty busy year thus far. But so far so good! I've been finishing everything to date- while also working on the first draft to Daybreaker!
It's a brief and somewhat repetitive update, but that's why I've been on and off lately. I'll try to create a more sufficient posting schedule sometime next week.
= Things to Do =
1.) JT - Full Bodied Sketch - Stella Commission
2.) All Tomorrows: Daybreaker - Prologue
3.) Anjak Chronicles - Prologue/Pilot
4.) Finish more of my WIPs
