Regarding the stuff I'm reposting on Kompy
Posted 10 years agoSo as I've been saying lately, I am moving stuff from this account to my Kompy account, the fate of this account still pending.
I have also mentioned not all pics will be reposted for whatever reason I deem fit. Mind, I'll be saving every one to my own personal storage areas, but they'll not be posted on FA ever again.
That said, as a few of the ones I'm debating if to re-upload or not are commissions, should once I finish the transferring you don't see your own commissioned pic up, you're free to request that I upload it again, provided it's your commission and/or your character.
Also no, I'll not state ahead of time which ones I'm omitting or not, nor why. I will point out some of these are posted in couple of my other online art archives, I just don't have the time/patience at the moment to remove them from there, though I can't guarantee that'll remain that way forever.
Sometimes, a little pruning goes a long way, yanno?

Resuming pic-transferring next week

DELETING STUFF NOW, SAVE WHAT YOU CAN IF YOU WANT IT
Posted 10 years agoMoving stuff to
Kompy, starting with the Scraps. Some of these WILL be deleted permanently, so save what you can should you feel like it.

Memo to myself: Move art to Kompy account on Oct 10
Posted 10 years agoAs I'm...still having some issues deciding if I should move my Poke-stuff there or not (or just move my own personal poke-art there and leave this place to commissions), I'm setting myself a date to finally make my decision then.
I'll post stuff here before I go (so I can move in chronological batches later on), though. With some exceptions, most of the works here will be posted there, though a handful may get u;timately deleted for good for personal reasons. Not sure which ones yet, though.

Small update and Dumb Twitter Stuff
Posted 10 years agoStill tablet-less.
BUT I figure I'd share more about Project Marchosias (which I mentioned once in a journal on the other account but not this one, oops!), which is: new laptop! Due to tablet issues pushing it to the point I am seriously hindered in my ability to work, my folks helped chip in the extra money I needed for a new one (along with what I've collected already, of which I owe you guys a great deal of thanks for by the way!). I owe 'em for that, of course, but at least it's a start, right?
Granted, I'm still waiting on the call so I know when to go pick the laptop up, so not going to be doing too in terms of new art until then, not counting the occasional attempt to do things in Illustrator.
In the meantime, though, I'm doing two things: One, cleaning up my room bit by bit to prepare for said laptop and and two, using Twitter a lot more, both for general musings and occasionally sharing some very old or very dumb (and old) artwork.
The latter I bring up for two reasons: One, always nice to get more followers over in NTBKompy who know of me and my weird art stuff. The other is because said old stuff (which you can follow on hashtag #OldKompyArt) will be posted there for the simple reason that most of it is in rather poor quality to share in my actual art accounts (art-wise and because I'm "scanning" with my phone's camera). That and a few I'd like to redo at a later date and post the revamp in my proper art accounts, this one included.
So yeah, while art and money issues continue to be slow and aggravating, at least there is a semblance of progress being done bit by bit. Thank you guys for putting up with my dumb art shenanigans and hopefully in time your patience will be rewarded.
...PS, said laptop is also very good for gaming, so I'm hoping that means future streams will be better quality and maybe even include the occasional let's play or something. WE SHALL SEE!
Oh and PPS, if I DO decide to start the move the Pokemon art back to Kompy, I'll be doing so once my laptop stuff is settled with. Yeah.

Real Talk: Folders/old account
Posted 10 years agoSo as some of you know, I originally made the Ceegee account to separate the pokemon related work from my kompy account for the sake of keeping things relatively separate.
But now that we have folders....should I bother with this account still? Should I keep Pokemon stuff here as usual (and while I'm at it, finally give in and finish bringing over all the old pokemon art still left on the Kompy account that I haven't moved because laziness/fear of losing views and comments?)
Or should I move everything back to Kompy for the sake of having one less account to have to follow?
You tell me.

Pokemon GOOOO where you want to...
Posted 10 years agoall around the woooorld~!
(yes I know the word is "roam", don't care >:V)
So, thoughts on this? Me, I am waiting on more explanation on gameplay as well as, oh I dunno, mention of pokemon included in the game besides the original 151? Just a thought.
As for the status on my tablet/computer issues and lack of art lately? While I elaborate on what's new as of late over here, I may have something for you guys soon. Just give me....*checks watch* until next Friday and I will get back to you. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait :)

Update again: Tablet still borked. I am boned.
Posted 10 years agoBear with me as I go into panic mode for a moment.
So.
Tablet? Not cooperating again. Many reboots. Reinstalls. plugging/unplugging. All the tricks I could find. Not working.
In fact, its current behavior is reminding me of the old tablet! You know, the one I replaced with the one I have now only to see laptop doing the exact same BS with the new one. But as I was able to make it cooperate with me for the last few years, no big deal.
Now, now it's a big deal.
I am on my wit's end, as I have been significantly hindered by this turn of events when it comes to saving up cash for the new laptop. And consider this:
-The only money I can use at the moment without bothering anyone else for money is what I had saved up for the laptop. I could well use some of that cash for a new tablet and just keep soldiering on with Raphael here until I have thew amount I need, but seeing as this laptop now has a history of not playing nice with Wacom tablet drivers/pressure sensitivity, I'm seriously afraid to risk getting a new one just to have this happen all over again.
-I could try borrowing mom's laptop, but as she uses it for her work and it's not really optimal for handling digital editing, I worry if it's worth the hassle. Also her computer has Win8 and needs a virus clean up pretty badly, so that's another reason not to go that path.
-The only, ONLY thing I can still use for digital art at all now is my scanner to grab some traditional sketches and Illustrator (as I prefer using the mouse for that anyway). This I could well try to use for new work, the problem is all my pending commissions are done in SAI, a program that needs a pressure-sensitive tablet like a fish needs water to breathe.
-I can't draw directly on the comp with just a mouse to save my life and am legit amazed by those dedicated enough to pull it off.
-The only other, OTHER thing I could use for digital coloring? Uhh, I have Colors! 3D on my 3DS, though it's a standard-sized 3DS and the screen is annoying to draw on, though not impossible. Ironically, Miiverse sketches are doable :V
-I was fine with the occasional want for donations when I could at least draw SOMETHING for people to see to make up for it, but as I am now it'd just be beyond embarrassing.
-Patreon plans are pretty much dead until this is resolved.
So yeah, this is where I am now. Needless to say, no Friday stream due to, well, no place to draw on right now/have a sketch pending.
I'm...going to sleep off the frustration now. Hopefully next post I do is significantly happier. I'm starting to dislike this sad side of me.

Another small update: YAAY I FIXED IT
Posted 10 years agoAfter a good deal of perseverance, I got it working again! Hopefully that means I'll be able to do art again, as well as resume with Friday streams~!
Small update, also tablet help needed >_<;
Posted 10 years agoSo first off, apologies for not updating this sooner. As you can see, Erika didn't wash me away and the few consecutive (and very much welcome) storms we've had have yet to take my power out, so all's good there! I am alive and thankful to those who have wished me well and all that :)
Sadly, it's not all nice. Aside from the issue stated in the title (more on that shortly), RL has been weird for me lately, between worrying about day to day issues and, more pressing, mom's recent back surgery. Now I'll not get into too much detail for privacy's sake, but mom very recently came back from having surgery this week. It's a small surgery and she's already home and walking about, if understandably weak and stuff, so I of course have to keep an eye on her more than usual. So to sum: storms that are good for drought/bad for potential power-outs, aforementioned drought and caring for mom and the house we live in. The usual stuff.
And now we have the tablet thing. Here we go.
So, Still on Win7 (10 still intimidates me), weapon of choice for digital art is my Wacom intuos Pen & Touch (medium). It's always been pretty ornery when it comes to having working drivers on my computer, but for the most part I can manage it...until they update and I have to practically reinstall everything from scratch to get it working again.
And sure enough, it needed to update yesterday and now I'm baffled on how to fix it. Joy.
So that's where I am right now. If you have any ideas on how to deal with the tablet thing or simply want to say hi and stuff, I'll be over in my Twitter as usual, NTBKompy .Hopefully I can figure this out before Friday. Until then, take care folks.

BRB Tropical Storm Erika
Posted 10 years agoWhat it says on the tin. Due to storms of this nature having a 99% chance of power outs, it's not the best time to be on a computer, to say the least.
As a precaution, Friday's stream will more than likely be cancelled this week. Sorry about this :/
Weekend will probably be no go due to RL reasons, but hopefully next week we can get the ball rolling again.
On one hand, I'm saddened by the Friday stream thing, as proceeds from what I earn there go to saving up for a much-needed new laptop to replace my current 5+ year old one. On the other hand, we needed a storm like Erika to come to see if Puerto Rico's drought issues can finally be sated, if not solved altogether. That in the long run is the far better necessity.
So until then, see ya guys.

WELL LOOK WHAT GAME IS COMING TO WII U IN 2016
Posted 10 years agoHint, it's Pokken Tournament.
And while I'm amused by Lucha Libre Pikachu being in there, um...I do hope we get a few more actual pokemon in this lineup rather than another Pikachu :V
This is my Critique Journal, come tear me a new one
Posted 10 years ago(X-post from main account)
Yeah, I have been putting this off for a while out of dumb fears but, honestly, I need to do this. This is something that I know won't be fun and I have a history of being bad at taking to heart, in a way, but I figure now's a good time as any to do it.
This is simple: post anything you strongly feel I need to improve on, no pulling punches. This is of course mostly based off my skills as an artist, but if there is anything else that you think I need to address as well, hit me hard with that first. There's a good chance I know I'm faulty with a good chunk of things (professionalism, work etiquette, owed art, backrounds, etc) but even if it's something you know I am aware of that needs fixing, let me hear it anyway. Sometimes it takes an outside perspective to get me to truly realize what I'm supposed to do.
The only thing I wish you to not critique is, well, genuinely personal stuff unrelated to me as an artist or businessperson, which goes without saying. Also remember that critique is not "I don't like it when you draw or talk about ___" because that's an opinion and those are subjective. That said, feel free to mention stuff you think I should at least try to draw more of if you think it's something that'd be useful to master for the sake of improvement rather than just your bias :P
Ok, that's done now. So... hit me.

Interesting Pokemon anime trailer is VERY interesting
Posted 10 years agoSo I typically don't go promoting the anime specials on this journal, (Mega Evolution Act IV in this case), but considering what's spotted in this one in particular, well...I'm sure you can figure it out :)
So what's YOUR theory on that...bit near the end?

100 Fashion Prompts/List/Meme, free to share
Posted 10 years agoI did this kind of spur of the moment to get it out of my head. While I'm NOT open to commissions inspired by this (Not right now that is), I figure I'd post this in case any of you want to use this list of ideas for fun.
Before you go "Aren't some of these redundant?", it's semi-intentional, as this list is made so that you emphasize that particular element in that image and go wild with it. Besides, many of us have more than one item of clothing that we use for said occasions, so why not?
For the really vague ones? Just draw what YOU and your character of choice associate with the word and draw that, no need to worry about anyone policing what is or isn't correct, The vagueness is also to help make this list as flexible for characters of all shapes, sizes, genders and cultures to have room to be creative there.
Why "costume" instead of "Cosplay"? Because not all characters exist in universes that are familiar with real world pop culture. Not to say you CAN'T use that to draw cosplay, mind, just means you don't have to focus exclusively on that.
Do you have to draw up all of them? That is completely up to you. If I were to open up to commissions using this theme myself I would, indeed, do all of them, but don't worry about having to stick to that rule yourself.

(POLL) What should my next 100 pic challenge be?
Posted 10 years agoThis is something I have been musing on for a while and would like some feedback on, if possible. Keep in mind this would not go uynderway until my current list of owed art is dealt with, but consider this a goal for me/something to get excited over for when the day comes. Depending on which one wins, it could double as a "themed" commission series, but for the most part it'll just be a new way to reinviogorate my love of drawing again, as I sorely needed.

"But in my heart, I am a Gamer" (RIP Iwata)
Posted 10 years agoThis is a Pokemon-centric account, where I post my Pokemon-centric artwork.
To say Pokemon is a big influence in my life is an understatement.
To say this and many other Nintendo games in the past have been a huge aspect of my childhood and even my adulthood is even more of an understatement.
Which is why today I would like to have a brief moment of silence for the sudden passing of Satoru Iwata at 55. He left a great deal of happy memories to many a fan alike and will be greatly missed. While I can't expect to ever make a proper tribute to the man for many reasons, I can at least do this much.
For an example of what he's left us behind, a rundown of all the games he helped work on can be found here:

Rest in peace. In time, the world will learn to understand.
NEW POKKEN FIGHTERS ANNOUNCED
Posted 10 years agoSo some cool news has risen regarding Pokken Tournament, the fighting arcade game coming to Japan soon (and console version later on at some point.
First one's not much a surprise. Heck, he's one of the few ones besides Pikachu and Lucario with fighting game experience, technically:
The second one, however, IS a legit surprise that's bound to make some of you happy:
Interesting choices all around! Here's to hoping the console version comes with more surprises (and a release date, natch).

One of those whiny "I'm starting to hate drawing" rants
Posted 10 years agoWarning, I'm being whiny again, feel free to ignore me. I may delete this later.
So between stuff like working on paid for art and using my Twitter to vent out my silly moments, I also research stuff. A lot of stuff.
Among the things I research are how others have managed with their own Patreon accounts. I then start to wonder what's really stopping me from finishing up my own Patreon?
In short, it's because I'm cowardly and feel I don't deserve it.
I still have commission backlogs I'm catching up with at a snail's pace (they're not hard, just time-consuming + my dumb perfectionist self is being dumb about it). I'm completely useless for art trades with very rare exceptions. I'm still struggling to get a job in anything, let alone the stuff I went to university for. Above all else it's because I can't seem to settle on some decent reward incentives that are both fair to the people who like my work for whatever reason and to myself.
And part of the reason for that is because I fear myself falling out of love with the one real talent I have developed over the years.
It's not exactly an art block. I can still draw simple stuff like what I do during my Friday streams and I can still work on said commission backlog (even if I'm too slow for my liking). The problem is when I want to draw for myself, moreso if I want to draw something that isn't fanart. Even when I have time for myself, like how I have made myself do on weekends, I'm lucky to get even a doodle done, let alone a completed piece.
Have I been poisoned so much by people's feedback that I can't draw things for myself unless I know there are people out there that care? I should know better than this. I KNOW better than this. I KNOW I have enough people who watch me for my silly drawn antics no matter what the theme is. I KNOW I have an awesome fanbase who have stuck by me for years to look at my stuff and whatever else I can cook up. I KNOW I have friends who care for me as a person as well as an artist.
I KNOW this in my head...so why can't I make the rest of me believe it? Why can't the rest of me allow herself to chill out, draw whatever I wanna draw and not worry that drawing for me is a waste of time and money? I mean, yeah, I know part of the issue is my current money worries, but surely that shouldn't stop me from enjoying the very thing I grew up doing for so long, should it? Heck, I remember back in the days of Yerf when I was so in love with drawing whatever that the idea for asking for money in exchange for art repulsed me. And a part of me is repulsed still by that idea, but for a different reason entirely.
I don't expect replies. I won't blame anyone for wanting to tear me a new one for this depressing talk. I just...needed to say something in the hopes my own words will give me an answer, or something else entirely.
Hopefully, this feeling will pass. And maybe then will that Patreon happen or find a better means of keeping a decent amount of money coming in during the months to stop me from whining so much and feeling like this. This feeling sucks and I hate it and I want it gone already!

No stream tonight, here's why (Addendum)
Posted 10 years agoSo I've not done streams on Monday for several reasons and only now realized, oops, I should explain why that is, shouldn't I?
For those that don't know, I have Monday set aside to exclusively work on the much larger "standard" commissions (also on Wednesdays, but that alternates) that include things like color and multiple characters and Fridays for the much smaller and quicker sketch streams which are single full-bodied characters. Now initially I had hoped to stream on Mondays as well, but a few snags have hit me along the way:
1) These past few Mondays have had me a lot busier than expected in RL, usually for random reasons that aren't part of my usual schedule and, thus, hard to plan for.
2) While I can't well explain what has changed since I've done these in the past, I have found as of late I've not been able to concentrate as well as I have on keeping good quality on these while I'm streaming. To make up for that, I'm open to offer up WIPs to those commissioners whose work I'm currently working on while once I'm at a good progress point.
3) A very recent (as of today) snafu just arised -- namely, my driver has been giving me more and more issues as of late. Because of that, I'm hesitant to stream today until I feel more confident it won't die on me while I'm working or something (this may well kill the Friday stream as well if it proves to be unfixable).
So that's the gist of it. I am trying to save up cash for a new laptop (have my eyes set on a Surface 3 or similar, but I'm open to suggestions), but until then...yup.
EDIT: Forgot to say. I'm especially active on Twitter (@ NTBKompy) and especialy open to questions and whatnot on Mondays while I draw! Just saying~!

If you're leaving FA, toss me links where you going?
Posted 10 years agoAnother day, another screwup...and here I was already miffed at the fact my tablet is being screwy at the moment.
Anyway, for those of you heading off that want to keep contact with me (and vice versa), here are my other locations:
My Twitter Updated often (rarely with complete images, though I do post links to those), used mainly for streaming news and rambling about very weird or personal topics. Feel free to talk to me!
My DA account Updated as frequently as here, might include exclusive art.
My Weazyl account Also updated as frequently as here, might include exclusive art.
My Tumblr account Still newish, so still updating. Will include exclusive art.
My Pixiv account Updated infrequently and mostly with fanart. Might include some exclusive content, but it's rare.

No stream tonight, sorry!
Posted 10 years agoI'll be doing commission work behind the scenes, but no actual stream tonight, as I'm a bit out of steam for that.
You can come chat with me and ask me things over on Twitter (@NTBKompy), though!

Random thought: Need to draw more poke-dinos
Posted 10 years agoI need to draw more fossil-mon, man.
Or even just pokemon that look like dinos.
Plus with Jurassic World starting up next week, it makes more sense than ever to draw more of 'em.
Maybe I'll make next Friday's Doodle For Donation stream dino-themed...hmmm....
