Want Wii U codes? Care to trade art for 'em?
Posted 10 years agoTo be clear, I'm the one offering up Wii U codes, you're the ones drawing art for my amusement in exchange :V
Grabbed the latest Humble Bundle recently and I ended up with a few games I currently can't use as I...lack a Wii U for them (hence why I've not shown interest in Splatoon -- can't really be excited for something you won't get the chance to play yourself :( )
Now while you can always grab these codes for cheap yourselves on the official site, I figure I'd try my luck and see if anyone would be interested in a free one in exchange for art of any of my characters, because I'm petty like that :V
The current WiiU codes I have in hand:
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
Stealth Inc 2
Steamworld Dig
The Fall
OlliOlli
I also have the 3DS code for Mighty Switch Force! that I'm torn between keeping or not. Anything not mentioned either isn't up for trade or the bundle has not released it yet.
As for the art offers, a couple of rules:
-One code per person. No exceptions.
-NOT first come first serve.
-NO NSFW content, please
-Any of my characters are fair game to draw, but extra happy will go to any of my lesser 'loved' ones or my non-pokemon ones.
-Doesn't have to be in color, b/w is fine :V
- I'd trade for other things besides art, but I'm not sure what else would be a "fair" trade in this case...I mean, I doubt anyone is giving me Amiibos or game cards (eshop or Google Play) in exchange for these, after all!
Dunno how long I'll keep this offer up...maybe until the end of June, that sound ok?
As for me, I need to get back to work on my own art...

Ok, no more of these!
Posted 10 years agoBy "semi" I mean that this is nothing at all super-urgent and necessary, BUT I do need said cash in my bank before Friday, hence the 'emergency' part.
Now I could well just point out I have a donations link >>here<< but I figure most of you would rather have something worth your while if I'm going to be bugging you guys for stuff like this. (just please do not pay for commissions with this link!)
Soooo I'm going to do something a bit crazy and open up for some commission spots for reduced price right now, to be worked on before and during Friday's stream. It'd be like paying for a spot for a Friday stream early with the added bonus of being able to ask for it colored!
I'm not sure how many spots I'll have open, though if I can at least hit $50, that'd be golden. As for what I'm offering:
B/W Lineart ($13):
Single character, no backround, full body, any character. SFW or artistic nude, within reason. Sample1 Sample2
Palette Challenge REDUX ($15):
In the style of these pics. 4-6 color image palette a MUST. For these, you may look through the following links: here here here here here
Flat color lineart ($21):
Single character, no backround, full body, any character. SFW or artistic nude, within reason. Sample1 Sample2
If interested, COMMENT HERE to let me know you're interested/have any questions, then if I agree, email me at kompycommish[at]gmail.com with all the info regarding your pic, including references and your paypal address.
YES, FINALLY, A SCHEDULE OF SORTS (includes one for streams)
Posted 10 years agoSO OK, this is something I've been meaning to do for far too long, but we're doing, starting now.
My Commission-Drawing days will be Monday and Friday, with Friday (I hope) being my day to do art streams, which will probably include some discounted, on-the-spot artwork for anyone who joins the stream/pays on that day. I might even consider offering up themed commissions on that day, should there be demand for it (suggestions are, of course, more than welcome).
Weekends will be my "free" days for doing art for myself as well as to do some much-needed RL interactions. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be dedicated solely to "pro" graphic design gigs, job hunting and general RL interacting. Wednesdays I'm leaving open for either any late commissions I need to catch up on or any bigger projects I might want to work on on that day.
Once I get a good feel for this schedule, I'll adjust my actual time to reflect this so you guys have an idea what times I'll be available for things (though to give you an idea on how things are so far: I'm on Atlantic Standard Time and something of a night owl that can stay up until 3 in the morning, not counting days I stay up even longer than usual because of weird circumstances).
Obviously, this is subject to changes depending on how badly RL wants to bone me that day or some other circumstances, but for now this is how I'll be focusing things for now on. Hopefully this will lead to faster art and, goodness willing, MORE ART, PERIOD.
Wish me luck!

Ask me my “TOP 5” anything!
Posted 10 years agoBecause I need more fun in my diet.
And by "fun" I of course mean "steal a random meme thing from Tumblr and put it here because reasons".
Let's see what you got! Of course, this being my Pokemon-centric account, try to make your questions at least partially Pokemon-themed if you can (for anything else, ask me in the other journal)

Random Whining/Art Projects I Wanna Work On Someday
Posted 10 years agoYo. Been a while. What's going on with you guys?
Me? Still chugging along at a snail's pace with overdue work. It's just two more left (I finished one, at least!), but I'm not sure I'll be ready to open up commissions again until at least one of those has been finished, finally.
The thing that gets me most right now, honestly, is the fact that I've not really had any time to work on any personal projects due to all the commissions I've been doing as of late and with just 5 bucks in my paypal at the moment, I very literally cannot afford to draw random crud for me if it doesn't bring in some kind of income, minor as it is. I've a donate link right above, sure, but I don't want to just prod people into giving me money for no good reason, I want to give something back. Usually I do that via commissions or the like, but it's been a bit of a struggle lately putting any real effort into stuff for me. I'm well aware my issue is pretty petty in the grand scheme of things, but this is the kind of thing that keeps me up at night, you know?
"But Kompy, why not Patreon? I thought you figured out what your reward incentives and stuff are already with that poll a while back?"
That is true, but two things: One, a couple of those reward tiers need tweaking and 2, more importantly, while I do have ideas for rewards settled, we've one more issue to deal with: What is the Patreon _for_?
Just drawing stuff for myself is not going to cut it as something worth sponsoring at a monthly basis or whatever. I need a project to actually get people at least interested enough to see come to fruition. I could well go the easy route with my Pokemorph characters, but as much as I've skirted the line plenty of times already with the whole copyright thing, a part of me fears making a Patreon dedicated to that would be going a bit too far. Not only that, but...I have original characters, old and new, that I'd love to draw and develop as much as I did my fan-stuff, but it gets awkward at times when you secretly fear no one giving a darn about them.
So what DO I wish to work on once I have a bit more time and/or income to let me be a bit less stressed out? Well, I have a few ideas, many of them fairly silly ones at that:
-More Satarnis stuff, period. Don't know what that is? do a search on the term here on FA to give you a small sampling of that. Shortest answer is that it's my oldest worldsettings/races of all that I'd love to get back to with the same passion I had when I was much younger.
-More of the unnamed "Apocalyptic Atlantis" setting (sea life hybrid anthros. Example: Azura). I have a few rough character concept ideas for what the race is like and I once did an interview meme with one of them that elaborates on the setting more, but that's about it so far.
-More of the Gargoli universe (zodiac-themed, gargoyle-inspired winged anthros. Example: Jyun (NSFW), Greek Team sketch, Chinese Team sketch. This is less a worldsetting developing thing as it is the silliest of projects: trying to develop the characters (particularly the Greek ones, though the Chinese ones also merit some attention) by using modern representations of how people portray the signs (stupid answer: I want to make drawings of these guys based of Tumblr's weird Zodiac memes, including the option to have people suggest which one of these to draw out next)
-Another 100-pic challenge, perhaps drawing out fanart of characters/shows I've never drawn before, be they faves of mine or of other people. No idea what theme or format I'd use to make it different from the Palette Challenge one from last year, though.
-Project 'Skyfall' (anthro bird universe. Example: Judas Basilisk, Crush On Phoenix (band)). Because birbs. And because I still owe you guys those bird characters you voted on not long ago.
-More Team Biozone art, period. This of course includes everyone that is considered part of this lineup, including Kompy herself. I don't need money incentive to draw these, mind, for reasons that should be obvious, but it couldn't hurt :V
-....yes, more Pokemon/Pokemorph stuff, because I can't quit...
-Fanart in general. Same reason as above.
And this is of course not including things like "make graphics/icons for my other online locations" and "stuff to put in the portfolio". I guess I could try again with the YCH/Adoptables thing but, honestly, it hasn't been working for me, especially since I have the worst luck with auctions.
But that's it for the random selfish whining for now. How you doing? You got any projects of your own?

Is it weird I've never considered selling prints?
Posted 10 years agoWhy, you ask? Well....mostly because I always think no one would buy any off me. Weird, I know. Just as well, I woudn't know where to begin, anyway.
Also, don't mind me, I'm just kind of struggling here with both the drive to finish my commish backlog and find the time I can actually draw for myself again without worrying either about money issues or owing art to others.
I'll be fine, honest, just kind of pausing to air out my thoughts here.
What are you guys up to lately?

Commission update, also thoughts on...refsheets?
Posted 10 years agoSo the Cheap Commissions have been finished, as far as I can tell. Meaning I currently have one "pro" (graphic design) work and two larger standard commissions pending. Dunno how long these will take me, but hopefully soon, especially since I may (keyword "may", as I'm still waiting on the heads up and the info) have another "pro" work coming down the line later on and I know I have couple people waiting on me to get caught up so I can do their standard commissions. And don't even get me started on trades >_o;
Which leads me to a couple thoughts/questions/what have you.
First one is that lately I've been getting more people requesting me for reference sheets. I've done a couple in the past but none I would consider really "good", and the last time I did one as a commission was the one I made for sirkain many moons ago.
The ref sheet in question (do disregard the fact this is very old, please) is here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/484733/
And even now, I'm not sure how much to price something like that. At this time of writing, the most complex drawing I offer (not counting extras details and the like) is a fully-colored, fully-shaded fullbody character pic for about $76 (the extra dollar is for the Paypal fees). A refsheet doesn't typically _need_ shading beyond pure aesthetics or simply to give a better idea of the texture of whatever it is you're shading, but does need you to draw out at least a front and back design (or an additional 3/4 view depending on the character), details on whatever body parts or accessories the character may have unique to them, MAYBE a brief bio.
If I were to price this like a normal standard commission -- say, two non-shaded pics and, for example, two noteworthy extras about the character.
A single flat-color character is $56, any extras (which in this case would include the "second character") are $10 more. Add the single, the second and two extras and that's about...$86, not counting any additional details that'd up the price.
Is it me or does that price feel...wrong, somehow, especially considering the extra work one puts in for designing a character for someone else? I can't place it. What am I missing?
Thoughts?

Quick and dumb reminder that I have a Twitter
Posted 10 years agoWhile I catch up on art things and whatnot, I might on occasion peek in and answer questions/share random not-always-art-related stupidity on my Twitter.
It's @ Viledove (because Kompy was taken :( ). I POST OLD-AS-DIRT SKETCHES IN THERE NOW, mostly the stuff too incomplete or embarrassing to post here (or that if it DOES get posted in any of my art accounts, it'll probably either be colored or as part of a revamp).
...and yes, my Twitter is kind of empty and ugly right now, but once I have a bit more time, I'll get to adding some proper artwork and whatnot on the main page. In the meantime, well, there it is.
EDIT: WTH, adding an @ to names now links to people?! O_O

Still going to take a bit with commissions, sorry
Posted 10 years agoNot much has changed since last time, sadly.
Funny thing. On one hand, the primary goal of the cheap commissions from last month -- making the money I needed to get my phone replaced -- was successful and I'm eternally grateful to every single one of you.
On the other hand, finishing my backlog in the time I had set out to do is not coming in as easy as I thought it would. It's a mix of things, really -- a combination of big jobs with little jobs, struggling to get myself to draw, struggling to draw it in a timely manner, struggling to draw it well, not to mention needing time to draw stuff for myself, be it work-related things like new portfolio pieces or icons or what have you.
At this point I'm aware I'm just making excuses and I have disappointed a lot of people with my tardiness, both fandom-wise and even in RL. I do promise you all, though, that the work WILL be done, even if it takes me all summer to do it. Needless to say, no further commissions or trades or anything of the sort will be taken until I do a bit more weeding out of my stuff.
Once I DO catch up with those...I may have to seriously sit down and finish my Patreon, maybe stop being afraid that no one would sponsor me or that I'd not be able to offer anything interesting, since I don't draw comics or anything like that (not that I wouldn't like to get back to trying again, but right now it's not really feasible).
So, again, I'm really, really sorry for making you guys wait so long, this wasn't planned at all. But I do want to thank you folks for putting up with me all this time. Hopefully later on I'll find the best way to make it up to you guys. Until then, let me try to get back to work...

Important commission update, PLEASE read!
Posted 10 years agoAnd you know I'm serious, as I never play the 'please read' card unless I mean it.
I'll keep it simple: there will be delays with my Cheap Commish March pics that are still pending. No further commissions of any kind, cheap or standard, will be accepted until I have cleared up my backlog some from here on in.
Some 'pro' work (aka graphic design work) has also come up which will also pull back the date to work on newer commissions as well, so I can't well say how long this will take. I will let you guys know in future journals when I'll be open again, though!
In the mean time, I apologize profusely to those who I promised your stuff at the end of the month which just ended. Please, just bear with me while I catch up with you guys, as stuff has been happening as of late that has pretty much blindsided me with more work than expected. Again, I hope to get some of that backlog done as soon as possible, just...not as soon as I was hoping. That's on me, though. And should you guys insist on getting a partial refund (as there ARE sketches for pretty much all of the pending backlogs), I will be happy to offer those to those still waiting on that.
I'm sorry for letting you guys down.

Commission update and an odd idea
Posted 10 years agoSo quick update, some of it known already but still worth posting in a new link and stuff.
So first thing's first: That YCH from before? Due to having been away from the computer around the time the final hours of that auction were about to end, I was unable to properly remind people of the fact said auction was ending and, thus, no bids ever came. So I'm torn between trying again at a later date (with a fixed price, as it's clear now I have the worst of luck with auction-style) or just getting rid of the idea in its entirety. I'll figure that out later when time allows it.
Which brings me to my second bit of news: Cheap Commish March is going to expand to April! However, as I still have a bit of a backlog of commissions from this month to deal with, any future Cheap Commish offers I will try to finish at the end of April. In other words: Commissions I have pending now? I'll try (keyword 'try', as RL keeps bringing up new and interesting ways to keep me away from the computer) to finish those before this month is over. Any new ones I get after those I'll work on NEXT month. I'll also make an updated Cheap Commish journal next month to bring folks up to speed -- in the meantime, you can read up more info on that here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6574027/
Last idea. Suppose I make a third account for my extra-old sketches that have never been scanned before, up to including boatloads of characters I've never shown off before? Those that I or other people might find interesting enough to salvage might even get a redraw later on to post here. Older pokemon-themed sketches will continue to be posted here in ceegee, but believe me when I say I have tons of other characters, fanart and original alike, that have never seen the light of day and I still have a fair bit of love for to share with you guys. I'd probably make a matching Tumblr account for this as well, for those looking to follow on that elsewhere (or even, gasp, give my public facebook something else to do besides just be another place to announce my streams!). Would anyone care to see these?
Anyway, that'll do for now.

You thinking of leaving/not leaving? Link me your art!
Posted 10 years agoJust asking folks who watch me and have art galleries on their own elsewhere (ideally DA, Weazyl or Tumblr) to toss me a link before they go.
As for me? Short answer, not leaving yet. No real need to, at least not this second. Might change my mind later, but it's not in the plans now.
That said, I have been making it a point to expand where I put my stuff in for now on, which is why I'm also reminding you where else you can follow me for art besides on FA:
http://kompytanuki.tumblr.com/
http://kompy.deviantart.com/
https://www.weasyl.com/~kompy
http://pixiv.me/kompy
Feel free to also toss me a shout out over on Skype (Viledove) and Twitter (@Viledove) sometime as well!
(PS, I'm still doing the Cheap Commish March stuff and thinking of expanding it to April as well. The YCH? Complete failure partially due to my fault, will explain figure out what to do with it at a later post)

Cheap Commish March AND a YCH Auction!
Posted 10 years agoStill going with these, plus I have a brand new addition - a YCH! Go here for more info: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15994147/
As for the original set of cheap commissions, read below:
- Paypal only, I use invoices.
- Usual Terms of Service rules apply. For the ToS, read here.
-If interested in a commission, send an email to kompycommish at gmail dot com (NOT my paypal addy, by the way) with your offer choice number and the assigned forms included as well as a visual ref of some kind for #2 and #3. Questions/comments can be written right on this journal (and of course, if you can't participate, feel free to signal boost :) )
- Note that while I'll be accepting works for Cheap Commish Month all month long, I'll have exactly ONE slot for a regular commission that doesn't fall under the same categories. Feel free to email me to inquire about these.
-These will all be drawn and, hopefully, finished during the month of March. No slots for the time being and you may ask for multiple images.
-TWO CHARACTERS MAXIMUM per image, with the second character being $10 more. Can be a couple, #1 and #2 can be combined, #3 can include two characters, whatever! For other combinations, email me so we can discuss how that payment would go.
-Props or backrounds will be at my own discretion, depending on the prompts.
- WIPs will only be offered if requested. NO REVISIONS ALLOWED FOR offer #1(Create-a-Character), though minor revisions are accepted to a point on #2 and #3, such as color correction. Anything that requires a complete redraw will have an additional fee added depending on the complexity.
And now for the offers:
I create a character for you to either keep for yourself or trade/resell for half-off as an adoptable using the following form:
Species: Pick three types of creatures to choose from. I'll pick either one of them or, if requested, a fusion of two of them or all three of them. Pokemon allowed, as are other famous kinds of creatures.
Type: Anthro, Feral or Monstrous
Colors: Pick three. Can be the character's colors OR just colors you'd want associated with the character somehow, such as with whatever clothing I put them in or any backround that might pop up for it or even details such as eye or hair color. Just let me know if you want me to choose or if you have an idea for this :)
Gender: Whichever you prefer, or just let me decide
Details: Three words OR two words and a phrase of your choice. Consider these a descriptor for the character/pic as a whole.
Exactly what it says on the tin -- I design a new outfit for your character (note I'm best drawing more simplistic, modern clothes than fantasy/futuristic ones, though feel free to ask for these so long as you don't mind it being a bit on the simplistic side. Extra $10 will be charged for complicated armor of any kind).
For these, you have two options: either you give me a photo or drawing reference of what you want drawn on your character OR you let me design a outfit of your choice using the following form (no other written references will be accepted, sorry):
Style: Pick a clothes style (ex. "business suit", "swimwear", "circus performer" "sleepwear", etc.) Note that while I'm willing to accept certain NSFW outfits, depending on what I get asked for, I might charge an additional $10 if it's something I'm not 100% comfortable with (obviously if it's too uncomfortable, I'll not draw it at all). Minors drawn in this style are right out for reasons I shouldn't have to explain.
Clothes color: Pick three
Details: Three words OR two words and a phrase of your choice. Consider these a descriptor for the character/pic as a whole.
Yup, doing this again, only this time I'll be giving you a biiit more freedom with the color choices, somewhat. To participate in this, you _MUST_ give me a 4 to 6-color palette sheet for me to work off. For links on places where you can find pre-made ones or generate your own, use one of the following:

Cheap Commish March! Three kinds! (OPEN ALL MONTH)
Posted 10 years agoMoney is kind of tight this month hence why I'm offering these. Not gonna say 'emergency commissions' because, really, I'll live in the long run? I have a home and friends and family that love me, so I'm way more blessed than most. But at the same time, I do not deny that money issues seem to be the root of 99.9% of my stress issues as of late and, well, it'd be a huge help for while I'm job hunting in the meantime. Even making 100 bucks this month would be a nice goal to have. But I'm not gonna beg for it, either.
For the record, yes, I AM planning on making a Patreon in the future, but it's still in the works, as ideally I'd want to see what my would-be job schedule will be like before I go with that. So until then, I give you -- Cheap Commish March!
Quick rules for these:
- Paypal only, I use invoices.
- Usual Terms of Service rules apply. For the ToS, read here.

Any 30+ year old folks here?
Posted 10 years ago...probably not the wisest thing to be asking in the pokemon-centric account, but I'm doing it anyway...
Yes, I am still doing the Cheap Commish March thing, in case you forgot that, this is an aside I want to figure out first.
So I'm in desperate need to meed more people around my age range with similar interests to just...talk to, maybe find a few that can help me in the graphic design side of things, anything. Anyone know where to look? Or if you are one of these, well...hi. give a holler on my Skype or Twitter sometime or something, we'll see how it goes. I will not guarantee friendship on the first few chats and will not think highly of you if you start off asking to be friends or ask for free art, but hey, still worth a shot, right?
Bear in mind that I can be a very difficult person to deal with at times due to my depression/anxiety issues and, yes, this year has not been kind to me in that regard, but if you think you can deal with that, be my guest. Hopefully I won't scare you off too much.

For Artists: How To Mark No Shipping On Paypal Invoices
Posted 10 years ago(Figure I should post here, too)
Sadly I lost the link to the post where I got this info from originally, so if anyone could hook me up with that for proper sourcing, that'd be lovely.
Anyway. Are you an artist? Do you use Paypal? Do you use invoices? (and if not, you should really consider that in lieu of 'gift' for many many reasons, many of them legal-based). If you're like me, you've probably been stuck on how to set it so Paypal doesn't think you're being a fraud just because the product you made doesn't need a physical address.
Thankfully, there IS a way to fix that!
-Once your invoice is sent and/or paid, click the buyer's name
-Under Shipping, click Tracking Info
-Set Order Status to Order Processed/Service Rendered
-Save, done.
Note this will send an email to your buyers letting them know about the address thing, so it might be a good idea to let them know, just in case!
If any of you guys have better-written explanations on how to do invoices and the like, by all means link them here so they may be shared as well. If you guys have any additional info you might wanna add about this, feel free to share those too (just no 'paypal suxors' unless you have ifo on alternative places for online money handling, please!)
(P.S. Still open for commissions, could use the money, baww, ok done)

URBAN LOVE (Month-long Valentine commissions!)
Posted 11 years agoSo I recently got a crazy idea that I wanna try drawing out throughout this whole month, which is this series of urban-themed valentine cards (paypal only).

Open for ONE regular commission (for now)
Posted 11 years agoSo many art plans, so little time. Also a survey.
Posted 11 years agoSo first thing's first: I made a tiny survey for something I've been wanting to do for a while. If you could take a second to look it over and give me your input, I'd love you forever (Survey ends on Friday next week): https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WCF2ZL6
As for the other thing:
I definitely wanna do something for February regarding couples commissions!
So I got two thoughts: Y'all want something along the lines of my old "Bubble Dance" commission from eons ago: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/987085/ (with a new theme besides bubbles and not exclusive to pokemorphs, of course)
or
Some kind of prompt challenge where you give me the couple of choice, Three colors and three descriptive words to choose from and go to town?
Or something else entirely?
What says you, folks?

Back to business?
Posted 11 years agoAfter a lot of thinking
crying
struggling
whining
procrastinating
talking
and everything else in between, I have an idea of what I want to do right now. It's not an immediate solution nor even the most ideal one, but it's a plan at least, which is more than enough to help me focus on what I have to do just long enough to catch up with owed art.
Once my backlog is settled, I'll see about maybe thinking of some project ideas I'd like to get by you guys sometime.
And lest I forget: Thank you. Thanks to the few of you for offering to help out, to give support, to worry, to care. I may not have said it before, but I'll say it now, I'm really thankful for your words. Some I may well take into consideration for later on, in fact (like the writing thing).

If I can't draw, what can I do?
Posted 11 years agoSo yeah, I've thought about the suggestions you guys gave me, as well as those offered by friends and family alike. They're all good art ideas and maybe down the line I'll look into them and I do thank you all for trying...
...but right now I'm just kind of frustrated with life too much to draw, at least for others. Heck, even drawing for myself has been taxing, since whenever I try to I feel frustrated that I'm "wasting time" instead of finishing up owed artwork. The fact that my saved funds on Paypal are drying up and my computer keeps being more and more problematic each day PLUS RL worries like wanting to get a job and move to the States yet being unable to at this point in time means that...well it means that I'm at a point in time where I wonder if drawing as a profession is even the right path for me.
But that's just it, I don't know what else to do.
I could write for a bit, I guess, but I'm no writer, I doubt anyone would care. Wouldn't even know what to write, anyway.
And nothing else is really calling to me as stuff I can do and/or stuff I can do that can also be of monetary value someday.
Bluh. Here's to hoping it's a passing phase and nothing more. It stinks feeling like this.

Gimme Art Ideas. Pweeeease?
Posted 11 years agoI am looking for art prompts of some kind to do a series of pics for, be it personal/portfolio-worthy art or commissions.
A theme, a project, some old idea of mine you'd like me to elaborate on in some way.
It can even be non-furry.
Seriously, I need help here. Wanna draw something personal before getting back in the commission train again, since it has been too long ._.
