Just one of those days...
Posted 14 years agoSo today has been weird so far... For the last few years I've had a very distinct alarm tone I would wake up too. But recently my cellphone which I use for my alarm had to be factory reset and will hopefully be replaced today. That aside, I needed to get up this morning, so I set one of my older alarm clocks. After falling asleep around 2am, and waking up at 7am to a very unusual sounding alarm clock...
Let's just say I heard the alarm, opened my eyes, thought "what in the F**K is that sound" and looked over at it. The display was flashing while it was going off, I hit the snooze button and rolled over. After a minute or two of staring at the ceiling I swung myself out of bed, only to notice it was COLD AS SHIT in my room. After getting up to turn on the heater, I realized I missed an eBay auction I had meant to bid on because my phone didn't alert me. I entirely forgot about the factory reset on my phone prior to going to sleep.
Now today, I have to see about getting a TV replaced that's under warranty at Best Buy. As well as hopefully get my phone replaced at Verizon which SHOULD be under warranty for factory defects (display issue and WiFi dying) but we all know they will argue with me anyway. Wish me luck!

Looking for a ref sheet artist...
Posted 15 years agoOkay, I sat down for a bit and gathered a bit of ref material. So if anyone wants to try their hand at drawing my fursona, you are free to do so. Right now, I still have nothing, so if you come up with an idea I like, it very well could stick and become a permanent part of my character.
Anyway, here is what I know, and what I have so far.
Hair reference:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....ce/hairref.png
The main thing to note here, is that I don't really have a shot of the back. It's not really long, maybe a bit shorter than neck level. Anyone is free to experiment with hair styles, just try to stick to the coloring and that would be great. I would prefer short hair over long though, so please keep that in mind. Also, obviously less "Second Life" looking would be great, heh. Something else to mention, this hair reference picture is only for the hair on top of the head, and I suppose the eye color. Nothing else in this picture is related to my current fursona at this point. Just figure this is a basic idea, nothing more of a general style and hair coloring. The coloring is right, the style is "ok" but feel free to play around with style a bit. Also, I mentioned less "Second Life" looking, what I meant by that was it should look like hair, instead of what it looks like in the picture, that's all really.
Next, color, face, ears, eyes and muzzle references:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....eleghatref.png
A lot of things to make note of in this picture actually. The first one is the eye colors, Right blue, Left green. Mildly dark blue, somewhat brightish green. You can play with the tint or shades if you want, but please stick to the right blue, left green colors.
Next thing to note would be the muzzle, I would prefer if you tried to stick as close to this as possible while maintaining whatever your preferred art style is. The fur pattern on the muzzle is here to stay, it has a Fox like resemblance as you can see by the "stripe" on the muzzle, and I wish to keep that. However, you may play with the nose shape and overall muzzle shape to fit your style. Though, I would like it to remain as realistic looking, shape wise, as possible.
Moving on, next would be the Lightning bolt type pattern under and to the sides of the eyes. I would prefer to keep this, or something similar to this. You are free to play around with this if you would like though. Also note the 'brows' I would like to keep those as well or something similar.
Finally, the ears! The ears are like the hair from earlier, Pink and Blue. Think, paint spill, or hair dye. Not naturally that color, but dyed along with the hair. You can experiment with what you think looks best in terms of how much, or how little pink and blue to put on the ears. Right ear pink, Left ear blue. I tried to think of it like this, imagine dipping the ear in a can of paint, other than the inside of the ear.
Alright, now on to the legs. Obviously the picture I am using for reference is my Feral avatar from Second Life, but the same coloring applies to anthro as well. The left arm would be all white, the right would have tan, as well as both legs. The picture in the middle is the back legs by the way, sorry for the placement in the pic. You don't have to stick to this though, you can be creative here if you wish.
Something else to mention is the chest, on the right Pec, this paw print shape. Like the ears and hair, think of hair dye. Not a natural pattern, but black dye sort of like a tattoo.
Paw Design:

Finally the overall coloring and fur pattern. The main colors are the colors you see in the picture. Tan and White. I have no "decided" fur pattern yet. So you can play around with it as much as you would like. I will post a few other references pictures for ideas though. Try to keep it moderately simple-ish, if I ever get a fursuit made I would prefer the fursuit artist didn't have a heart attack from a complicated pattern.
Clothing Reference:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v....._071121e-l.jpg
Also, keep track of the Trilby hat in the other picture. That is a key piece of clothing for my fursona, usually worn with the ears folded back like in the previous picture. White Trilby with a black band, very important. However something just occurred to me, asking for a reference sheet and mentioning things such as clothing is not a good idea for a few reasons. Clothing hides fur patterns, and hats hide hair styles and hair colors. So if you wish you include clothing or the hat you may, but now that I think about it... It probably would be a better idea to do a SFW nude reference if you feel comfortable doing that instead.
Okay, next up on the list, body shape. Thin, toned and athletic build. About 5' 8" height, I figure 145lbs or so. Best bet would be to go by the image of Fox above, or use this image from Sapphwolf that I like. Here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2152907/
The tail would be next, average Husky tail shape, but larger. My fursona is part Fox, so that reflects a bit in the muzzle pattern and the tail. Classic Husky curl, but about 25% larger/longer overall size. Normal fur pattern for the most part, just replace the common Black/White coloring with the Tan/White coloring.
Finally, yes finally... Until I think of more things to add... Here are some of the pictures that my fursona was born from. You can use these for fur pattern ideas, or whatever info you think you can take from them while still sticking to what I mentioned above.
I absolutely love these pictures:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....y_bloom_xl.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....ies/Laika9.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.....uskies/139.jpg
Okay that is all I can think of for now, so if anyone wants to try a shot at it. Please please do! I have nothing as of yet, and could really use a ref sheet that incorporates what I mentioned above. Thank you!
EDIT: Fixed images, a few spelling errors, and added yellow text info.
EDIT2: Added more yellow text info in relation to hair reference.

Industrial Leaf blowers...
Posted 15 years ago...make me want to harm Justin Beiber.
So, last night I went to sleep at around 6:00am... Anyway, I got woke up by the stupid people next door to me with a huge freaking industrial leaf blower monstrosity. I can't even begin to explain the sound, but let me tell you that as far as I know, they have been running the stupid thing since around 8am and I'm writing this journal at 11:15am. I seriously can't stand this sound, and I'm tempted to go complain because I can't hear myself think! At the same time though, I don't want to give them a reason to complain about something I do later so I am sitting here tolerating it, drinking my coffee.
..........................THEY JUST TURNED IT OFF! Ah, my ears... I can hear myself think... Sweet... Sweet silence...

Multi-Hybrid Fursonas = RAGE!
Posted 15 years ago[rage]
Okay, what the heck is up with people who have multi-hybrid fursonas? A single hybrid is fine, take myself for example Husky/Fox (yeah, both common fursonas, SHAT UP!). Anyway, I don't understand people who have like 10 different species in their fursona, are they seriously that indecisive that they just crumple it all in there and call it good? Anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm kinda getting sick of reading about peoples wolf/fox/tiger/hyena/panther fursonas for example. PICK TWO, THREE TOPS, anymore than that and it doesn't even make sense anymore.

Sonic Fan Remix!
Posted 15 years agoI don't know if anyone else here has came across this yet, but after seeing the video and playing the game itself. YES ITS PLAYABLE! I am absolutely blown away with the accuracy this fan made game has achieved to the original Sonic games. I really hope SEGA doesn't nix this project like they seem to do with other fan games, because honestly this feels better and looks better than Sonic 4 to me. I really want to see this become a reality more than just a demo.

It is even on Kotaku among a few other sites as well, this is just amazing.

Reference sheet request.
Posted 15 years agoHey everyone, I am curious if there is anyone around that would be willing to lend me their artistic skills and help me put together a rough reference sheet for my fursona?
As it is now, I have NOTHING, zero art related to my fursona, and I want to fix that. I however, need a reference sheet first. Would anyone be willing to sit down with me on ICQ/AIM or something of the like while drawing and help me nail down a rough reference sheet? If anyone is up for the challenge, let me know.
I have some basic ideas in my head of what I want, and I have some pictures to help with coloring and stuff too. Just don't have the artistic talent to get my ideas on the paper. :)

Oregon Fur's?
Posted 16 years ago Ya know, the thought just crossed my mind, but I figured I would go ahead and ask here anyway. I live in Oregon, and noticed that none of my friends here are fur's at all. So it got me thinking, I wonder how close I actually live to other furs around here. It would be neat to have a few new friends who we're into the same stuff I was to talk about and hang out with around here. So, I figured I would ask a simple question now, then if I get any responses I can see how it will work from there.
So, I ask are there any fur's in Oregon that would happen to be looking for friends in the area? Obviously it's best to talk a bit online before we would go meet up with each other, but it never really hurts to see who's around. So if anyone is around Oregon and wouldn't mind chatting for a bit I would be interested in possibly making a few friends in my area. Just figured I would throw it out there so people knew I was looking.
