After most of a winter where I have been extremely busy getting Fur the More running, its become very apparent that not many are paying attention to this group. This is not necessarily a bad thing. Once of my goals when I became a Moderator in the region was to try and unify the fractured maryland furry groups into one statewide group. Why? because its the only way we would see serious involvement in the community.

There is no reason why the central MD Furs cant let the Maryland furs know whats going on.. maybe someone in Northern Maryland is coming south that day and might want to join in.

In any event, its much better that we all operate as a singular community rather than fractured regional groups.

Greetings to all Central Maryland Furries... all 227 of you.

Recently, BaltimoreFurs shutdown active maintenance of their page and stated that the group would be merging with Central Maryland Furs. So I would like to send out a welcome to any new watchers from the Baltimorefurs group.

I have been seriously considering whether this group should merge into Maryland Furs or not. I asked once a long time ago for everyone's opinion on it, and some agreed we should all be one big group, some disagreed, feeling that we didn't need to know what NMDFurs, or easternshore, or Delmarva furs were doing.

I disagree. Why shouldn't we know whats going on everywhere in the state? Maybe the EasternShore Furries have a parade coming up and could use more fursuiters. Maybe the Northern MD Furs have a meetup they would like to see people coming. Why not make it easy for everyone by having one place to post info, rather than several different places. It exhausting on anyone to have to maintain information in multiple places, let alone a moderator who has to both maintain and mine new information from several places.

I am not sure why the Maryland furry community fractured into so many baby groups, but I feel that being that fractured is what created the lack of activity in the state. Which is one reason why I have been so EXCITED to see that our community has bounced back into activity from the one or two meets that we could arrange, to having something to go to almost every week by someone in the state.

I can't help but feel that trying to get everyone to consolidate their efforts into one group consciousness on FA as well as at MDFurs.org is the reason for this, and I would like to see it continue.

We welcome ALL furries from Maryland and anywhere else if you have an interest in Maryland. We welcome people to make their own meets, and local groups and tell us to promote it. We welcome any furries who are interested in helping us to run things to volunteer with us.

For those of you not watching the news, there was a train derailment in Rosedale, MD, involving several train cars, several industrial buildings, and some unknown hazardous chemicals. The accident resulted in an explosion, and a continuing fire that created a massive cloud of smoke. Baltimore County officials are recommending avoidance of the 21237 zip code if at all possible. If you live in that zipcode, they are suggesting you stay indoors to avoid inhalation of the smoke and/or fumes. A section of State Route 40, as well as a section of Interstate 95 is being closed near the explosion to avoid further injury.

Despite all this, tonight's meet in White Marsh at Don Pablo's has been checked on, and the area is far enough to be safe and clear, so we're still on for tonight! Just be sure to take care and seek alternate routes if your usual transportation includes route 40 or Interstate 95, as they are closed in the Rosedale area. Interstate 695 is still open though! We hope you all can still come and have fun, but most importantly, Be Safe!!

Well, I am back after running Fur the More. I will need a week or two to get caught up (along with post-con stuff).
