So I'm not dead... thats good :D

My surgery recovery went well, still some stiffness and limited flexibility but nothing I couldn't probably fix with stretching, physio, etc.

Life has been decent until recently my contract at work has come to an end unfortunately, and because of changes at the company, my job position didn't exist anymore and thus I'm out of work for a bit until I can find work at another studio.

That being said I'm going to be uploading a couple pieces of art each day to get a bit of views flowing and sometime next week I will likely be opening up commissions so keep your eyes peeled. There will likely be a couple YCH ideas as well as a few slots, so feel free to comment about what types of commissions you would like me to open for.

That being said there are a couple of commissions I still have going that have been waiting on the clients response I may need to work on should they respond.

Ok so lets start this off with Surgery! Finally going in for my hip surgery on Monday so I'm going to be off work for a month. Super nervous about it and having allot of anxiety towards going under but I'm sure everything will be fine. I have a bone deformity that they have to shave down and then re attach and repair ligaments around the joint that have been crushed/torn/pulled up from where they are supposed to be. I dont think the surgery is going to be too crazy but I dont really know a whole lot about whats going to be happening. I'll be on bed rest for the first week which is going to be balls, only getting up to go to the bathroom which having hip surgery, I can only imagine is going to make that so much more fun lol.

I bought an Ipad Pro / pencil with part of my tax return so I will be able to work on commissions from bed! Super exciting but also kinda expensive lol, I haven't bought anything costing a large amount of money for myself in a long time. So far I've been really happy with it, there are a few limitations I've run into using Medibang compared to Photoshop, but its nothing that i cant work around :P If you've got any tips or tricks in Medibang or another program thats more similar to Photoshop let me know!

All that aside the first few days after my surgery I would imagine are going to be pretty poop as far as productivity but I'm hoping through the stretch of the month I'm off that I will be able to have all or most of the commissions finished! So far I've completed 4 of the commissions on my list and a number of them have sketches started. which if I haven't sent you a sketch but its on the que, I'll probably be sending that out to you shortly for feedback.

Priority for commissions is from top to bottom of the list and I always have a few going at one time as i have to wait for feedback on certain steps of the process. If someone below you has progress on their piece it either because I have been working on it on my Ipad VS something on my computer.

Alright so time for another little update since I kinda died for a while just letting you know I'm still here :P

So back mid March my mom had a series of heart attacks after her initial one back in 2011, and then when she went in for an angiogram recently may 21st she had another series of attacks during the surgery and again after in recovery, so they had to open her back up. 2 surgeries back to back and 6 stints later... she seems to be doing alright but is still a rough road for her.

Me on the other has started physio which takes up about an hour each night. Trying to juggle work, physio, and personal time pretty much leaves me with nothing.

On an up note though it means I'm going to be even busyer we are finally moving from a bachelor suite up to a 1 bedroom at the end of the month! Super exciting. Also just before moving we are going to Campfur so I'll be out of town that weekend.

I just wanted to let you guys know I haven't forgotten and sorry for the long wait time, things have been a little hectic.

(For commissioners; refunds are always an option. If I have yet to start your piece and you wish to get your money back, I'm fully willing to refund)

PS: Yes I know comic, its coming, need to finish up the last 3 commissions and then it'll get working on it haha, patience (I know its been a while since any progress ^^;;;;;)

How interested would you guys be in auction evolutions?

It would start out as an egg / orb / spell circle / embryo / etc. and once the auction ends these little creatures would hatch / birth / summon / explode into existence! Further on, one month down the road, you will receive a grown up version of the little creature OR if you want him to grow faster you can get "X" amounts of favorite/likes on one site and you would receive it sooner.

Keep in mind that these are just ideas that I'm playing with and nothing is concreted yet.

I want to create some interesting things, so I would need some interesting creature ideas things that aren't all too common to draw ideas from. Not that common creatures aren't good, I just want to stay away from what I'm used to drawing.

I wouldn't be doing these until after VF commissions are completed so this journal will stay up for a while to collect ideas / suggestions / opinions.

This might be a little preemptive but if you answer these following questions and do decide to bid on one of the auctions down the road I'll knock $5 off your billed price if you win.

Keep in mind you will be receiving the initial auction drawing, a second "hatched" drawing, and a third "grown up" drawing.

1.) How much, if this wasn't an auction, would you want to pay for something like this? (Honest pricing you would pay for the 3 pictures. No "I want it free" and bs like that)
2.) List 2 or more interesting creatures/animals/monsters that have not already been mentioned in the comments. (If this journal gets big I wont worry too much about duplicates unless it shows up allot. Go ahead and throw something like an Sea Urchin / Placerias / Golden Mole hybrid at me)
3.) How interested would you in participating in this style of auction? (A simple 1-5 would be good. 1 - super interested cant wait, 3 - not sure, would want to see things before I decide, 5 - no thanks just here to share ideas)
4.) Spread the word, tell someone or everyone about it including a link back to this journal and then post a like or screen shot here to prove you did it. (I know this one is kinda the butts one but I don't want you posting journals you don't want to just to enter so even just telling a friend, screen cap, and post a link would be enough for me ^^)

So finally today with my earnings from VF i went out and bought a new tablet that has been long overdue.

My old tablet had a habit of uninstalling its drivers and would require a computer restart to find them again, or just stop working, or disconnect itself from bluetooth, or be super laggy for no reason. Not to mention the battery had crapped out long ago so it had to stay plugged in anyways.

Upgraded from the Wacom Graphire to a Wacom Intuos Pro Pen and Touch Medium.

BIIIIIIIIIG DIFFERENCE OMG. I'm super excited to work on the new commission with my new tablet.

Much more pressure sensitivity and a new nib make all the difference. I do miss the old plastic nib on plastic shell feeling but I'm sure I'll get used to the new one and I'm absolutely in love with the nib that has the little white bit at the end, not sure what it supposed to represent but I love it. Need to get me some more of these nibs.

Tomorrow is friday so hopefully, providing no distractions, I'll be starting on commissions!

Alrighty, so VF is over and I had loads of fun, not as much as some of you who got to run around but still had lots of fun!

Thursday - started off by not sleeping and working on chainmail and prep until about 6am when I started packing up things. followed by a short nap and getting picked up by my BF. Go to the hotel around 4ish and got reg/room/dealers den set up. Hung out with a few people and had a couple drinks that night.

Friday - First day of the dealers den, got to poke my head into the other den at one point to pick up my pre-ordered timmies badges from  nicoface Decided to chill in the room most of this night because i was exhausted.

Saturday - More dealers den, hung out in the room while the BF did his and 3 other peoples makeup and then we went down to the dance. Stayed up until 5 or 6 am drinking and partying

Sunday - Zombie day, little to no sleep in the dealers den. Luckily most people were hungover so there wasn't allot of traffic in the morning. Apparently our room door lock ran out of batteries and the guy couldn't figure out how to fix it so it was broken all day. (The manager used a screwdriver and popped the back replaced the batteries and ran a machine on it and it worked in like 5 minutes) chilled in the hot tub to relax my sore muscles and hung out with people.

Monday - Packed everything up and went home around 12

Met some cool people and had lots of fun there was some drama but when is there ever no drama haha. Thank you Emy aka  Meenah and Nirokia for being my table neighbors ^^

I didn't quite make it to 100 people out of 1k watchers even when offering free art lol guess they are just missing out on the opportunity. Alright so the time has come! Its a little later that the 1000 watcher mark but I figure I should get the ball rolling and have this wrapped up by mid December.

As a big thank you to everyone out there I'll be hosting a draw for a YCH with my big guy Eclypse

Now I'm going to start off with some ideas getting thrown around here for what the poseing/scenery of the YCH will be of, featuring Eclypse and one other character. I'll be starting the actual draw entry on November 1st/2nd along with posting the preview for the YCH that will be influenced by the ideas provided by you guys here. Keep in mind Ecylpse's back story with his character sheet when coming up with ideas ^^

1. To enter the draw in November you must be a watcher and post on the YCH preview when it appears.
2. I will use Random.org to select someone on Nov 14th @ noon PST 2 weeks later (friday).
3. That's pretty much it. Easy peasy.

Feel free to boost the post for more ideas or boost the YCH on Nov 1st. Not required but its always nice to let everyone know :P

Dragon Tail Commission Info

Rundown

The scale maille dragon tails I make are done with anodized aluminum woven together with aluminum rings (lighter but less durable) or stainless steel (bit heavier but more durable). Base price for a regular sized tail is $250, this is for material and construction cost, shipping is included in most instances but may require an extra cost if it exceeds my shipping amount.

Each tail is custom made based on client descriptions. Pre-made tails are not generally something I do unless prepping for a convention then I may have a couple for sale at the table.

Depending on complexity and ordering in materials tails will usually take a up to a month to complete unless my supplier is out of stock then wait times may increase.


Sizing

Default length of full size tails is roughly 35 inches from the top of the belt loop to the tip of the tail. this is generally a good length of tail for someone in the ballpark of being 5'10" it will hang an inch or two from the ground. I can alter the length at no extra cost. To measure the right tail length for you, while standing, measure from the top of your belt line to the ground while standing in a relaxed/comfortable pose. Subtract 1 inch for belt sag and then the amount of inches you would like it to be off the ground. I generally recommend about 5 inches from the ground.

[Belt To Ground] inches - 1 inch - [Desired Height From Ground] = [Tail Length]
ex: 40 inches - 1 inch - 4 inches = 35 inches

Depending on the rings I use to put the tail together it will weigh about 2lb (aluminum rings) or about 4lb (stainless steel) which gives them a good weight and momentum for sway as you walk/run around but also not too heavy so they are comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Each tail I construct has a pair of chainmail belt loops made in a 2x wide euro 6-in-1 weave and should be worn on a sturdy belt.


Materials

As mentioned before the rings I use are aluminum and stainless steel. The scales I most used are anodized aluminum because it comes in a nice range of colors. It is a soft metal so you do need to be aware that the colored scales can scratch and wear if they rub or come into contact with an abrasive surface. Regular wear however is not a big concern.

I have access to a wider variety of scales, some at a lower variety of colors, which include: Anodized Aluminum, Bright Anodized Aluminum, Engineered Plastic, Jewelers Brass, Stainless Steel, Blackened Stainless Steel, Bronze, Copper, Titanium, Nobium

Some of these are too expensive to keep on hand but if you dont mind paying more for the materials I can order them into stock, I have yet to test most of these materials for wear and tear so I recommend staying with Anodized Aluminum, Bright Anodized Aluminum, Engineered Plastic, and Stainless Steel for now.


Design/Pattern

Tails can be constructed in multiple colors and materials to get unique looks and patterns. some of the basic patterns I offer are as follows:

Solid Single Color: These tails are as basic as it gets, one solid color across the entire tail.

Spine/Ridge: A thin line stretching down the spine of the tail in a different/contrasting color.

Belly: This is the underside of the tail, done in a contrasting color to the upper portion.

Flecked: Unique to each tail, this takes another color randomly scattered about the tails design

these designs are all able to combine with each other (aside from the solid color):
ex: spine/belly
ex: flecked/belly/spine tail

Custom: Sometimes a commissioner will request a wide range of colors and/or materials than the typical design which can incur additional costs depending on complexity. specific patterns will be done to the best of my ability and the design will be made and approved based on reference provided. Occasionally commissioners will give free reign for me to create an original piece for them which is always exciting!


Pricing

Base pricing for my tails are $250. This is for the standard full length tail made with anodized aluminum with any type of pattern. More expensive materials or complex designs will increase the price, where as significantly shortening the tail will reduce the pricing of the quote.

Shipping/delivery is included unless your cost of shipping exceeds my shipping bracket. This may add additional pricing to your overall cost.

Commission on the project will begin after the material cost has been payed for $50 for a standard tail, afterwards I will provide pictures and make small adjustments once. The rest of payment is then required before I will ship it out to you.


Extras?

I dont have much for extras at this point in time if you have any questions or inquiries about adding additional things to the tail let me know and i will see what i can do.

Lobster Clasps: For attaching things to a tail, such as glow-sticks and or other various things. it can also be used to clip the end of your tail up to your pocket or belt loop if you do not with to have it hanging down at any given time. If desired, I can add a single clip to the tip of a tail for no charge. Additional clips elsewhere are $2 each.

So life has been pretty crazy its had its ups and downs definitely have some good news and bad news.

lets start with the bad news and get it out of the way. My mom has been working through some heavy depression and went borderline suicidal a couple weeks ago, she didn't act on it but she kept talking about doing something to herself because its the only way to get actually medical help, aside from that she spent 2 weeks in bed not eating much and sleeping most of the time. She seems to be doing better recently but its only a matter of time before she crashes again.

On a lighters note I'm proud to announce we now have a kitten! Hes 8 weeks old Siamese/Calico cross and his name is Mooo. That's right 3 o's none of this 2 o business :P We have had him for about a week and aside from the lack of sleeping at night, hes been a good kitten ^^

Wow, i never thought i would get this many watchers! Back when i started i only had a few friends that watched and occasionally gave feedback. This expanded to some people in the furry community when i started to branch out and then had a large influx when i started Lesson One.

So life has been pretty crazy the last little bit. My boyfriend went in for surgery on his second eye and two days later found out something fucked up and he had to go in for emergency corrective surgery. Things are looking ok for now so hopefully things go well! His first eye is doing prety good, though it still has some stitches to come out so we wont find out how good his vision is until then.

Had a bunch of disability things that we had to go through adding him onto my file and starting his application process which was a handfull of things and now more things that we have to sort out.

Trying to recover from the unexpected costs of going to campfur is still kinda biteing me in the butt and we are saving up to move into a bigger apartment as well as getting a pet. We find out at the end of this month if the tenants give notice and then we will be moving in end of August beginning of September if all goes well.

Work is going great, I’m passed my 3 months probation so I’m officially an employee. Its a bit repetitive but i enjoy it and I work 9-6 mon-fri so I get pretty tired by the time I get home though im still putting away on art. Hopefully finishing up more commissions sooner than later so I can finally say I’ve got my commission que clear again.

I may take a few commissions for people who have been waiting when I’m done the que but im planing on working on “Lesson One” as well as doing some ych auctions to get Eclypse out there and getting his sexy butt known.

I'm sorry its taking so long I've been desperately scrounging for time to work on these but with the new job I've be pinched fro time and the last two weeks were crunch time so hopefully i will be able to get things moving again this week.

The chainmail commissions are being shipped out after work on Tuesday finishing up that commission list, sorry its taken so long for those. With the big delay trying to get info/payment for materials and then being unable to get to the post office after work because I've had to pull late hours has been the main reason for the extended wait.

Ja'Nathun's piece is almost complete providing approval of expressions and color it should be done this week.

The next 2 I have received approval of the sketch so hopefully I'll have the lineart for those done this week as well!

Page 5 has been paid for so expect that to be coming out sometime this month :P

I had to close down my stream tonight because after I finished working on the sketch layout for Lesson One pg5, out of the 12 people I have on my commission list I was unable to work on a single piece due to the following reasons;

#1) Lack of information - This ones pretty big, thank you to those who did provide me with the information I need but to whose who dont, I have nothing to work with if I dont know what you look like and I’m not going to hunt you down and hunt down the information. I will send you a reminder and simply move to the next person in line.

#2) No payment - With no payment made I wont start work on your piece. Please please please consider putting down a payment if even just a little bit. It secures your place in the commission lineup and allows me to start working on your piece.

#3) Lack of contact - I need to be in contact with you or I dont know whats going on and I cant get updates from/to you!

After Vancoufur I sent out emails and notes to people, some of which haven’t contacted me back yet. Others send me details but have not made a payment yet.

I will be sending out a slew of emails to my commission list to try and get things sorted out, hopefully so i have something to work on for Wed’s stream.

Commission que! Things are gonna start moving again as of tomorow! This last week has been pretty busy.

Between my sister being in the hospital, working a 4 day job at EA from 9-5:30 from Monday to Thursday, having class on Fridays night, and then dnd/dinner on Saturday I haven't had a chance to work on art.

But good news, no more classes(for now) and no work(atm) so I'll be getting art done! The chainmail commissions may be completed first due to the fact I can work on it when I'm out but I assure you I'll be getting things done.

Today has been my first day this week to get things done around the house so 6 loads of laundry and dishes later I'm pretty tired tonight hence why art will be starting tomorrow.

I'll probably have streams every day hopefully at a decent time for probably 6-8h starting with the sketch for Lesson One which will need approval so I will work on other pieces while I wait for approvals.

I still have a couple grab bags of the $20 and $30s left! you get $5-$10 worth more in each bag not including potential for discounts on future purchases!.
