Posted 9 years agoI have been working two new jobs as an seamstress at an alteration shop and a fabric Print maker for a new start up fashion line.
The later is kind of exciting and a bit humbling, I just learned illustrator and I am slow. High praise to the ones who can work fast and make cool art.
Again I'll be at Comic Con in San Diego this year.

Posted 10 years agoSomeone shipped me a black Resin K9 nose, and I don't know why! It is a very nice nose, I would use it.

I know you all started watching because BeastCub mentioned me in her journal for the LA Fur Trip, thank you for believing that I show promise as an upcoming costumer! One of you even meet me on said trip, glad to know the internet is not full of strangers just the real world is. Seriously within 30 seconds of meeting the Fashion district police had an altercation with a guy in Starbucks we met at. "Welcome to LA," Gilligan!

Posted 10 years agoGilligan and I went around to the fur stores asking for MNKY only found it in black, white and Ivory, but black was the only one that was salvageable. White and "ivory" were just longer mongolian. Also found

Casting Call- Female Fit Model(s) in South OC Sz 0-10 - ASAP
Posted 10 years agoI am a senior Fashion Student at Saddleback, and I need one or two females to be fit models for my final projects in exchange for the clothing; two dresses, possibly a Corset. We will be meeting at least 5 times, 3 times for two models. These dresses are going to be hand embellished and made to measure.
The first dress is black & white color block with a sheer pleated polka dots over lay, above the knee length with short sleeves. Hand beaded with pearls and lined.
The second dress is a bias floor length mermaid dress, with a black, white and red color scheme, with ruffles, flounces, horse hair, beading and lined.
For the dresses:
Must be able to meet on Feb 9th between 6pm- 9pm on campus for first fitting, giving measurement for pattern making beforehand (Pardon the short notice)
Must be able to meet to model in front of instructors & class on Feb 18 & April 18 between 5:30pm and 7pm (You will be in & out)
Must be able to meet in between those dates to be fitted for the second dress.
Must be able to walk in the Saddleback Fashion show on April 30th Time:TBD-Afternoon - Evening (might be a photo shoot there, you will get a copies. If not, we can discuss logistics of our own personal shoot)
If you can't make it to all of the meeting, you will not get the dress(es).
For the corset:
I am not required to make one for my final project, but I am able to make them. Think I would be awesome if you are willing to wear the corset with the dresses for the silhouette. I do need photos of the corset for my portfolio and to have it walked at the show. You must be comfortable wearing a corset at a 4-6" waist reduction.
Measurements NOT hard set:
Dress Size: 0-10
Bust: 30-40"
Waist: 20-30
Hip: 30-40"
Cup: 4+ inches larger than underbust.
Age: 18+yrs
Looks & Experience:
I am not picky, just no face or hand tattoos. Piecing are within reason.
Belly button piercing must be removable if you are going to wear a corset.
Any experience is a O.K. The walk at the fashion show is a piece of cake.

Just before I left for work got a call saying I am not need, Sweet. So what do I do?
Go to CaliFur to volunteer as a Fursuit Repair Woman. Got to hang in the headless lounge all day and help suiters in need.
Except during the Fursuit Parade I helped direct the part of the route. Every one was a ton of fun just walking past me. I saw Deadpool box of tacos self destruct. Tacos scattered across the ground. Luckily he was the last one in the parade. I go inside, fetch some tape I brought with me and caught up with DP as he entered the building. Taping the crumbling box of tacos to his arm. I think he walked the whole parade like that.

Internships & Spring Semester Done! What's Next?

But I am having trouble with signing up for summer!! Blasted website is not letting my get to my "shopping cart" to buy my classes! It just two classes for the summer for July Is my Con Season! It's just GRRR. That and in the fall I am taking a digital Pattern making class that cost and extra $500 on top of tuition. Got to save the monies.
My internships are done, One was a waste of time and money, I just did stupid labour. Going out and getting fabric from the LA fashion district, coping patterns and archiving them. Boring and waste of time! I spend about 4 hours commuting a day. I didn't quit cause I need the LA connections. My other internship is was closer, and way more fun! Example: My supervisor and I when on talking about pancakes and waffles. and she made us bacon pancakes for dinner! I worked so hard for them that I put the business ahead of schedule so they hired me part time for 2 or so months! With a gasoline expense!
I am going to AX on the 5th and to Comiccon San Diego 23-27. I am actually going to cosplay at CCSD, for the first time. It is so packed that I have not cosplayed for the past 4 years there.
We can't find a place to rent out, on AirBnB.com. When we do rent a place they cancel one the realize it is during CCSD and repost at a higher price. This has been going on for the past SIX MONTHS! Booking then cancel, booking then cancel, booking then cancel, booking then cancel, booking then cancel, booking then cancel, booking then cancel, booking then cancel, booking then cancel!
Fun Fact It's cheaper to rent an entire house during CCSD then to book a hotel!
So June is Cosplay making time, Bellossom, Lolita dress, a corset, and suit if I can.
Right now I have to finish a bustle under skirt for a wedding but wednesday yay! Was commission on friday. But I start my job tomorrow, which is nice. It just for two mounts and part time, but I get to sew costumes!

I have been very busy so busy in fact that I had to work over my spring break.
Since March I have started two internships. One in LA the other in Long Beach. Spending at least 1.5 counting to and from Long Beach. It's 3 hr commute for the days I go to LA
I also started working a part time alterer for a Long Beach vintage boutique.
All that on top of my school work, job and household up keep!
I am getting my work done, it just slowly coming along. Sorry for being so very slow!!
This will end on May 22.

Rant about the Inexperienced

When completely inexperienced get commissions.
If you can't make something without asking the most basic sewing of questions, you should not take people's money!
If you have to ask how to fit a bodysuit or how to work with a commissioner's DTD, you should not take people's money!
If you need your hand held to make everything, you should not take people's money!
I can probably sew circles around most makers, some of the well know even say they can't make normal clothing. They make awesome suits over me. That's why I don't offer heads, I am just not up to par to make them.
But bodysuits, I can make bodysuits.
I know that I am a new maker but I can sew very well!
I am going to college to sew for crying out loud!

A more elaborate suit would be more, this is a discounted suit not a suit for cost.

Most seams will be finished via serging, some markings can not fit under the machine. Those will get hand sewn.

Posted 11 years ago I am finished the last class of knitwear construction class, and want to put my new found knowledge to work! The class taught to pattern draft all our projects; dresses, pants and swimwear.
How does this relate to fursuiting? Fake fur is a knit fabric, I can make patterns for

Posted 12 years agoTonight I found out that my dog Kona, is extremely sick (cancer) and we will have to put him down tomorrow, Jan 7th. He is only 7 years old, he has been with us since he was 4 months old, Kona is as smart as can be, and I will always love him!
