So, this past Tuesday, I went in for orientation and training at a brand new super-Kroger store opening up in a few weeks. Yes, I got a job. Granted, as a bagger, but still! Job!
I went in, sat though some boring computer forms (which I still need to finish some of those), and some classes, that made me feel like I was back in high school. For lunch, they gave up salad and veggie wraps, of which I ate none of, since I hate eating veggies. So I made due with a bag of chips and soda.
As I was leaving, though, one of the managers there approached me. This is the convo.
(Girl) You're Ricky, right?
(Me) Yes ma'am?
(Girl) Bagger for store #514?
(Me) *nods*
(Girl) We're in need of someone to work produce, and you look like someone who'd like to do that. Interested?
(Me) Um...sure?
(Girl) Great! I'll talk with your store manager, and we'll get everything set up!
...fastest...promotion...ever.

Now, I know some of you are thinking "grocery store?! How mundane!". But, y'know what? I like working mundane. Not much thinking involved, and I can contemplate more kink-filled ideas for most of you.

COMMISSIONS CLOSED, BUT NOT REALLY
Confused? I don't blame you. The simple truth is, I'm tired of keeping people waiting for their commissions. I know it annoys some of you. Hell, it annoys me all the time. It's known that I get easily distracted, but I doubt most of you know the full extent of how bad it can get. I'm not going to go into detail about it, but I AM going to close commissions.
Why the 'Not Really' bit, though? Because I will only be taking them during special live streams. And only for pinups for the time being. I know a lot of you love my comics, but the truth is, those take a LOT of time to do properly. Also, I want to make sure I finish what I start. Which properly leads into the next section.
THE STATE OF NEO ROBIA
It's no secret that myself, Joanne, and Scot have been hard at work for a long time on doing a comic/visual novel/radio drama of Neo Robia, and removing the Sonic elements from it. It's also no secret that, after 2 years, we have nothing yet to show of it. The fault is mine. How so?
Because Neo Robia means so much to so many people, and I'm unable to see why. People have done fanart, fanfics, made t-shirts, 3D models...so many things for the idea of Croc and what he does. I'm told that the Neo Robia concept means so much to people. For some reason, however, I can't see why. My mind still views Croc as a Sonic fan character, yet I'm told he's more than that. Maybe it's the curse of being the creator, but I have a hard time seeing anything I do as something more than pixels on a screen.
Suffice it to say, it's become a problem. I've held back feelings, emotions...hell, an incident that happened months ago still bothers me, even now. Some nights, I cry myself to sleep because of how worthless I view myself. Chaos Croc and Neo Robia mean a lot to people, and I feel like the scum of the earth for not being able to see it.
MAKING ME GROW UP
I'll be 33 in January. 33 years old, and still drawing Sonic art. Still unable to properly grow up and move on, like most of the other fan artists out there. I like drawing Sonic things. I like drawing the mind control, the robots, the kinky latex outfits...I enjoy doing that. But, sometimes, a lot of you force me to consider ending all that.
In the past few years, I've seen some great fan art and stories involving Croc. But I've also seen people try to take my character, and claim him as their own. I've seen people take my ideas, and warp them to make themselves look popular and 'awesome'. It's part of the reason that, even though I enjoy drawing Sonic art, I can honestly say I HATE most of the fan community.
Notice, I said 'most', and not 'all'. Some of you out there are nice, polite, and very cool people. Sadly, you're all in the minority, drowned out by recolors, stolen characters, and bad attempts at mixing another genre with the Sonic one. It's because of those reasons that, even though the Sonic community is one of the largest game-based fandoms on the internet, it's also looked down upon as childish and retarded.
Now, I know some of you will be quick to point out that there are other fandoms out there that are worse. My Little Pony (the current gen, not the old school ones), for example, has gotten WAY out of hand. But I'm not a pony artist, so I can't bitch about it as much. As a Sonic artist, however? I'm allowed to bitch. And bitch I will.
My message to the Sonic fandom is this; grow up a bit. Stop worshipping Shadow, stop drawing Sonic's head on Goku's body, stop using art other people have made (that includes base poses), and start doing something meaningful. Whether you're a fan of the games, comics, or cartoons, the key thing is that you're a SONIC fan.

Second Life Questions
Posted 13 years agoThis goes out to all of you who use/have used Second Life.
Lately, Second Life has been acting weird. When I first log on, everything's fine. I can teleport once, maybe twice, to new sims...and the game either crashes or just stops loading things. I can still chat and move around, but nothing loads.
THEN, when I close SL, my internet connection has mysteriously dropped. I can't load browsers (Skype still works, for some reason), and it usually takes anywhere between 3-10 minutes for my connection to return.
I've never had this problem with anything else except SL. Can anyone suggest something? BTW, I'm using the latest version of Firestorm.

Personally, I feel the people on FA are a bit more mature than the ones on DA (please note: it's only by a small percentage), and I'd rather stay here. But, if the admins and mods decide to target me, fine. I draw mostly implied porn, not really full on.

...just what is it about my version of Tails-Ko that you all seem to like? I mean, the concept is HARDLY original (other than the 'making her an evil bitch' thing. That, I take full credit for.), and lots of other people draw it. So why do you like mine so much?

GOD DAMN YOU BUTLER
Okay, so there's an artist that works for the Archie Sonic comics named Steven Butler. He's drawn for the comics since the 100's (maybe before then?), and I've always loved his art. Especially the way he draws the women so perfectly gorgeous. Well, after reading #237 and #238? I have only this to say.
...damn you, Butler, you've made Mecha-Sally attractive as hell to me right now. So, if later on, you guys see a flux of Mecha-Sally things? Blame him. Totally not because Sally is one of my favorite characters, either. <.<;;;
NEW PLAN
I'm going to be trying something new with the commissions. For the rest of this month, I'm going to try and get at least 1 commission a day (not including Saturday or Sunday), until I'm fully cleared up. Then, starting in August, I will only be doing streamed commissions. I'll go more into detail on that as soon as myself and Joanne flesh out the details of it.
Reason is, I want to save up at least $1500 for a trip to Scotland for 2 weeks. I'm sure a lot of you know about how I seem to have a LOT of friends in the UK. And I want to visit that country at least once in my life. So...that's my plan. I'm working on a small meter to build up the money for it, so stay tuned.
TIME FOR A CHANCE OF PACE
Soon, there will be not one, but TWO Chaos Croc's. Yes, you read that right. The one you all know and see all the time is going away from the Sonic verse for a bit. However, he will be replaced with a slightly altered version of Croc, better suited for the Sonic world. Stay tuned for more details!

Okay, so...here's an interesting development. I got a call-back earlier this month from Kroger, a grocery store about 4 minutes from my house. They wanted to hire me as a part-time bag boy. Which....is a bit degrading, but hey, I'll take what I can get at this point. So I went in, had my interview, everything was aces. Filled out the forms for a background check, did the drug test, and waited.
...and waited...
...and waited...
...right. I called up there. They got the drug test back, and everything was good with it. Buuuut nothing on my background check. So, I go online to check my credit report. Apparently, mine and my father's were crossed over. I guess cause we have the same name? But that makes no sense, since our SS numbers are completely different. So, me and my mother, who knows more about this legal mumbo-jumbo than I do, decide to head out and find the answers.
AND SO THEIR QUEST BEGAN!!
First stop: the US Social Security office. Get there, go in, and talk to a lady. Everything checks out good. No abnormal listings, no duplicates of my card...everything's good. Okay, fine.
Next stop: the Virginia Employment Commission. Spend about an hour waiting, sitting next to some Mexican woman who apparently has no idea how to stop her kid from crying. We finally got waited on. They run a check. Everything's good. Again, nothing wrong. So me and my mother are scratching our heads.
We go home, and I call up one of the websites that you have to pay to get a background check. We pay it, and got nothing back. No data. After some time on hold (gotta love elevator music!), I get a lady on there who tells me this..
"The reason you have no background to check is because you've never owned a credit card, car, or home."
...but I have bills in my name. Power, cable/internet, a rental from a few years ago...plus I'm a registered voter!
"Those don't count, except for the voter registration. But we can't find it."
So what you're saying is, I don't exist.
"Basically."
....WONDERFUL!! Okay, new plan! I go out, kick a police officer in the shin, get arrested, and BOOM!! I have a background to check! This can't possibly fail!
But seriously, this is really annoying. I've had background checks done on me before, and nothing's gone wrong then. Why, all of a sudden, am I having issues with it? And now it's cost me a chance at something of an income.
Hey guys, here's an idea. This year, when it's time to vote between politician #1 or politician #2? Do a write-in, and write Chaos Croc. XD

Posted 13 years agoOkay, so I figured I'd update everyone on things and stuff.
Nothing much has been happening, other than me getting a cold and getting better from it. I've also been experimenting with drawing in Photoshop proper, as well as new things in Flash. So, hopefully the artwork will improve greatly. Now, as for updates on various things...
COMMISSIONS
I have 4 commissions sketched out, and in various stages of completion. Each one is a comic, consisting of petrification, mind control, latex, and/or girls. Yeeessss, gotta love them ta-ta's. X3 Hopefully, I'll have those inked and put up by the end of this week, before moving on to others. Though I should point out that I might be taking a break from taking anymore future comic commissions, at least for awhile. They take a LOT of time to do. x.x;;;
NEO ROBIA COMIC
That's right, there will be a Neo Robia comic series. And it's not just me working on it! It will be a joint effort from about 5 people. So, maybe this will actually get done! The first few pages are sketched, and will be working their way to completion soon. Keep your eyes peeled!

Something less stressful
Posted 13 years agoOkay, so, here's what I'm going to do from now on, just to calm people down, and to also avoid any backlash from my previous journal.
When I have my streams, they will NOT be for commissions. Instead, it will be for all my non-commission work. Doodles, ideas, personal projects, request streams, etc etc. I'd like my public streams to be something relaxing, fun, and drama-free.
That being said, I plan on choosing a few of the commissions I have and having private streams. These streams will only be for those who have commissioned me, and I will only work on their commissions. That way, they get to see it being done, get to make whatever changes they like, and it shows a bit of progress on my end. I will be sending notes out to them when I do it, in order to set up a good time or day for it to happen. Maybe this will help ease some concerns that those who commissioned me have about their works getting done or not.

Posted 13 years agoI need to get off my chest. And I'm sorry if this makes me sound like a douchebag or an asshole, but I NEED to say it.
I'm getting VERY fed up with people noting me every time I upload ANYTHING asking about their commission. Yes, I get it. You want to see your commission. Some of you have been waiting awhile, and I'm very sorry for the wait. But all you're doing when you constantly note me like this is make me reluctant to upload ANYTHING. I promise you, your commissions WILL get done. Poking me about it almost every time isn't going to get it done any faster. If anything, it slows me down. So please please PLEASE stop noting me about it every single time I upload art.

New Cintiq + Troubleshooting
Posted 13 years agoOkay, so, last week I got the new 'used' Cintiq 15x from my friend Jasen. Hoooooly shizzles, it's awesome! I mean, everything's faster now! ^.^ My inking is smoother, my sketches are tighter, and it's so warm. Like, sunshine on your face warm. *squeels happily*
Though, there is a small problem with it, which I'm hoping someone can help me with. You see, the tablet works perfectly with Flash 5 and Photoshop CS3, but for Paint Tool Sai, there's no pressure settings. I mean, I can draw in it and everything, but it's like I'm drawing with a mouse. No pressure sensitivity. Now, I've already did the usual things. Reinstalled the tablet drivers (newest drivers for this), messed with the brush settings, and nothing seems to work. Only thing I haven't tried is reinstalling Sai, which would be hard, since I lost the install file a long while back.
And in OpenCanvas 1.1, it won't even draw. XD Not that I USE that program a lot, but it sure would be nice to OC with friends again. Soooo....anyone know what I could do?

Theories on the Sonic comic
Posted 13 years agoWARNING! DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T CARE/DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE ARCHIE SONIC COMIC, OR HAVEN'T READ UP TO #234 YET! THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING!
*takes a deep breath* Right, a lot of you have been wanting/waiting for me to comment on the latest happenings in the Archie Sonic comic, ever since the Genesis arc. And, for the most part, I've refrained from giving my personal feelings on it, as I needed time to compose myself and sort my thoughts. I think I've done it now, so I will speak my mind on it.
First things first, Sally. Am I happy she's roboticized? Yes and no. On the one hand, I'm glad that robotization is being brought up again. And, with Sally as the victim, it makes it slightly better. I don't need to explain to all of you how much I love seeing Sally as a robot. My gallery speaks volumes about that on it's own. However, on the other hand, I'm not happy that it seems like she's the ONLY victim of robotization. Nor am I happy with the 'modifications' Eggman made to her. Now, if robotization were to come back as Eggman's main method of enforcing control over people, I'd be happier. As I am now, I'm just passive interested.
Next up, the string of defeats for Sonic and the gang. Let's do a quick tally of how the SatAM based FF are doing. Antoine: Badly injured. Bunnie: No more cyber parts. Rotor: Bad back, but in a Power Ranger suit. Nicole: Original body destroyed, everyone hates her. Sally: Roboticized and altered by Eggman. Snivley: On the run from Eggman. From a biased standpoint, it REALLY looks like Ian is crushing the legacy of the SatAM history, replacing it with SegaSonic references galore. And if you think that, allow me to correct you and ALSO give you some food for thought.
Consider the previous story arcs. Iron Dominion. The Suppression Squad. Enerjak. Where was Eggman during all that? Missing, or locked away. He was a joke. Sometimes, he'd pop up with some new machine, challenge Sonic, and end up with his face kicked in. Look at #200. Even Sonic pointed out how much of a joke Eggman was. No one took him seriously. It was more important for Sonic and the others to focus on the B list enemies rather than Eggman. So, how do you fix that? How do you make Eggman something feared and respected again? Simple. You get him to do something that pushes the FF into a corner. You make Sonic and his friends the underdogs again. Just like how they were in SatAM. See a pattern there?
Now, on to Nicole. While I do like the character development that's been happening with her, we REALLY need to get past the depression/hatred aimed towards her in the story. Yes, I get it, you want readers to feel sorry for her. She's lost Sally, the people of the city fear her, and now there's a ruler who can destroy the nanites that she controls. But do you know what happens when you have nothing but depression aimed at characters in a comic? Readers stop reading. They don't want to be depressed. Why should I pay money in order to be sad? It's something that's been lasting in the comics since #209. We're at #234 now. Move on, Ian.
Finally, I'd like to close with this thought. There's a LOT of fans out there who love and/or hate the Archie comic. And I'm not going to be the one to try and tell all of you how right/wrong you are for your thoughts or feelings. They're your feelings, not mine. But I'd like to ask a favor from everyone. Stop the hate. End the anti-whatever groups/clubs. It's stupid. If you hate Sally or Amy, why do you waste time and energy drawing them? For drama? For the lulz? It's dumb, and it makes you look dumb by comparison. The Sonic community has a long reputation of being immature children, so can we PLEASE try and do something to change that? Let's all come together, and show our support for the Sonic genre. Yes, the comics have been doing things that a lot of people don't like. But, it's still Sonic. You don't have to buy or download it, but at least respect the fact that it's Sonic.

Everyone calm the hell down
Posted 13 years agoOver the past couple of days, I've gotten a few notes about the issue of FA banning Sonic art from the site. So, like any normal, calm, clear-minded person, I looked into it. So here's my Rumor Control, starting with the rumors, and the facts.
RUMOR: The admins have always hated fan artists, so this is their way of trying to purge FA of fan art. It'll become like Yerf.
FACT: Most of the admins fav, comment on, or even draw fan art themselves. I highly doubt they'd ban it all, since they seem to like it as well. And trust me, FA is a LOOOOONG ways away from Yerf. (Also, props to any old school furry who REMEMBERS Yerf. XD) Sonic art makes up a LARGE part of FA's community, so why would you want to remove your largest user base from your own site?
RUMOR: Ever since they banned cub porn, the admins have looked for an excuse to link Sonic art to that same genre.
FACT: Actually, it's the butt-hurt cubbies who are looking for that link, not the admins. That being said, yes, there are similarities between cub art and Sonic art. Both depict underage characters, for example. But the reason Dragoneer and the staff banned cub art was from a FINANCIAL standpoint, not a personal vendetta one. No one likes restrictions, but sometimes, there's no choice.

FACT: No, they're not. The problem is that the Sonic characters are, for the most part, underage. They LOOK underage. And when you draw underage characters in sexual situations, that causes eyebrows to be raised by other people. They've given us an easy solution: age up the characters in your porn drawings. It's not THAT hard to do it, and still keep them Sonic styled.
Bottom line is this, people. FA is NOT trying to ban Sonic artists. They simply don't want their financial backers to point to a picture of Sonic and Amy having sex, and say 'We don't support this. Remove it'. They're trying to AVOID banning adult Sonic art. The simple solution is to age up your Sonic characters. But if you choose to be stubborn, and keep drawing them as underage because 'it's official looking', then chances are, the admins are going to target you.
Sonic fans have had a bad reputation given to them as being a bunch of immature recolors who whine and complain about anything they don't like. Can we PLEASE at least TRY to show some maturity? Don't jump to conclusions, read the facts first, and for god's sake, THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE.

RannyLK I just met her a week ago, but apparently this little lady has been a fan of mine for years. And wow, I'm amazed I never saw her stuff before. She's quite talented, and a pleasure to talk to. Seriously, give her stuff a look, drop a nice comment or two her way, and give her some love. =3
NMac1983 Once again, I meet a guy in Scotland who I'm really getting to know (seriously, is fate trying to guide me to Scotland?! Sheesh!). The man is insane when it comes to digi-painting and detail, and his CyberSally story arc is REALLY deep and interesting. Go now, before CyberSally stabs you and rips your heart out!
jojo-uk This, boy and girls, is quite possibly my best friend in the whole wide world. The one, the only, the great, Joanne. She's kept me from shooting myself in the foot more times than I can count, and she's been a HUGE inspiration to me and my creations. She deserves some fan loving. Go give her a big smooshy hug.

Posted 14 years agoFriends, I've been around the net for a long time. I mean a LONG long time. Like, when it was first introduced. And I've seen communities that hate each other's guts. Furries, anime fans, modern artists, Sonic fans, 4channers...I've seen these groups go at each other like cats and dogs, never stopping until the other eventually gets tired of bashing their head against a brick wall. Yes, we've all gotten our lulz from these antics, we've all gotten dramatic over it, yadda yadda...
But, this SOPA thing? It's the one thing ALL groups can come together for to oppose. It hurts EVERYONE. It WILL hurt everyone. It will turn the internet into a police state, where you're too afraid to voice your opinion lest your site gets taken down. And that cannot happen. We've come too far with the internet for us to let it become something like that.
Now, I know there's a wide range of people that watch me. Some of you like my art, others are waiting for me to 'grow out of the Sonic fandom', and some are just looking for the chance to troll me. Whatever your reasons, I am asking all of you to come together as one, for a single purpose; destroy SOPA. Contact your local congress rep, and tell them that opinions matter. Tell them that you REFUSE to stand for this law, and if passed, you'll remember who NOT to vote for in the coming elections. And tell them that the entertainment industry needs to grow up, and find ways to fight piracy that doesn't involve restricting our freedoms.
Again, despite your affiliation on the internet, we all need to come together AS ONE and show these people what power we have. Republicans and Democrats may not be able to work together, but dammit, we can!

I really does mean a lot to me, and I can't thank you all enough. =) It almost brings a tear to this robot's optics to see so many of you wishing me well.
