Okay, I lied...
Posted 10 years agoThe Comic and Toy Con is no longer my last show for 2015. For all you bronies and pegasisters, I've procured a table at the Running of the Leaves Convention (RotLCon) happening November 6-8. It's a smaller convention, not to mention local, so I'm not too worried about it.
If you happen to be attending, I hope to see you there! Otherwise, I'll see the rest of you in 2016!

2015 Cons Over! See you in 2016!
Posted 10 years agoWith this past weekend, my con schedule for 2015 comes to a close.
Nan Desu Kan (NDK) is this coming Labor Day weekend, but I will only be attending, not dealing (this con is difficult to get into as a dealer, and I don't have nearly enough anime/video game content yet to justify applying for a table there). I will be there starting Friday afternoon through Saturday evening with my bestest pal
sparkynekomi, who is flying in for the weekend. She is doing so because, two years ago, I bought us tickets to see Book of Mormon in 2015 on her birthday weekend after having seen the show in November 2013 and absolutely loving it. It is a must-see for everyone who loves Broadway (and has an open mind, TBH).
So, if you are attending NDK this weekend, I hope to see you there! Just be on the lookout for Kerfuffle and, hopefully, Roflmao if I finally get him done in time! Or, if I'm not in suit, just look for the couple of nerd girls with a service dog aussie dressed as an Arcanine. X3

Posted 10 years agoI just noticed that my watchers broke 300 recently. Thanks, everyone! It really means a lot to me, especially lately when I've been going through some hard personal stuff. :3
I know commissions are going slow, but know that I haven't forgotten you. Just a lot to deal with the last few weeks, and I've been getting to commissions whenever I can.
Per usual, anyone wanting a refund will get one immediately. Anyone who has not paid yet and would like to cancel their order is more than welcome to. I know I'm slow (having a full-time job and running a household can do that to ya), but I understand that waiting gets frustrating after a while, and there are plenty of faster artists out there that you could spend your money on. Just note me, and I'll get to it ASAP.
Things should get better in a week or two, time-wise. Thanks again!

ChaoStumes - OPENING SOON
Posted 10 years agoI am NOT taking commissions yet, but I wanted to officially announce that my fursuit-building subset, ChaoStumes, will be opening in the near future.
My goal is to offer lower-income furries a chance at quality partials, since most cannot afford some of the more high-quality, well-known fursuit makers on their paycheck. However, given that my prices will, indeed, be fairly low, I will require full payment of materials up front and will request the rest of the payment as well as shipping costs upon completion.
More details to come as I work out my TOS and other fun stuff, but figured I would announce this now so folks can keep me in mind while they are saving for their own suits, granted they like my style!
I will be created an FA page specifically for ChaoStumes very soon, but in the meantime I have already created a Facebook page for folks to like and follow, so that they can keep up-to-date on my costuming endeavors and when I will be opening for commissions.

...and before anyone possibly comments that "fursuits are a privilege, not a right," bear in mind that it is my own choice to offer the prices I will be offering to customers for the quality I provide. I have a hard time believing that the prices I will be offering will hurt the fursuit-making business, since I am making an outright claim that my prices are NOT the norm, so customers should not demand similar prices from already established makers.
Fursuit-making is not my full-time job, just like art is not my full-time job, so I am not in need of the amounts other, full-time suitmakers and studios quote, nor is it my intent to take business away from those suitmakers and studios that have already established their price ranges merely because my prices are lower.

RMFC Recap, Badge Queue Status, and Other Fun News!
Posted 10 years agoRMFC 2015: 25% unwanted drama, 75% success.
Thursday: Arrived about an hour later than I'd hoped, so I missed the pre-con staff party, but at least it was a decent drive up. Didn't get two joined rooms like we'd hoped (which, in hindsight, was probably for the best), but we did end up across the hall from each other, and my room had a balcony that I didn't even pay for. X3 Wheeeeeeeee. Front row seats to all atrium events! Set up my table, which I shared 1/3 of with the lovely
mewmewkitty and her AMAZING chainmaille jewelry, before we both headed for the Art Show to set up our pieces. Started setup of table at 6 PM, finished setting up Art Show at 10ish--a whole four hours of setup, so I was exhausted. Made a Wendy's run for the lovely Art Show staff, but due to room key issues, didn't end up getting back with the food until they had all gone. :( But I bought them apology muffins the next morning, so I think I'm forgiven. X3 Got room payment from 
ryoken, which he gave me in the form of $200 in ones...XD trololol.
Friday: Woke up pretty early for having stayed up 'til roughly 2 AM. X3 Got my usual frappuccino, sat down in the den, and went to work! But not before asking mewmewkitty to please go to every table in the den and let them know that, if they need any change at all during the weekend, to come to me...because I had 200 one-dollar bills. XD Few hours pass; was supposed to go to the Cocktail Party, but wasn't really in the mood, so I opted for throwing on Kerfuffle for a bit and suiting. Wandered for about 20 minutes before I went back before the den closed to pack up the things I needed. Ate at the hotel restaurant with some awesome friends (
usegiful, 
chimera005ao, 
kidaconu, and a few others). Ordered a $28.00 steak with fries; got a 4oz mediocre steak with a side of fries the size of McDonald's small. XD But my hurricane, as usual, was really good and strong, so I let it slide. Hung out in 
sesi's room for some awesome ramen noodles (to fill the void that was still in my stomach from the baby steak) and lots of laughs. Bedtime around 2 AM because Dealers Den tomorrow. X3
Saturday: Woke up feeling bummed about the drama (that, as you may have noticed, I'm leaving out of this report), so I ended up not marching in the parade with Kerfuffle. Didn't really want to, anyway, because his wings were only half done and I wanted those to be done for the parade. Was fun watching, though! So many awesome suits, and a surprising amount of minors! Like, minors under 12 years with their parents. Made me happy to see so many parents supporting their childrens' interests despite the bad wrap this community gets thanks to the media. Went to Hard Rock Cafe on the 16th Street Mall per my own personal con tradition with
nokanatura, usegiful, chimera005ao, sesi, 
chioxin, 
sprocket_dog, and a few others in tow. Had a GREAT time (and ordered a steak that looked like it gave birth to my other steak XD). Hurricane wasn't as strong, but still good! Got back to the hotel, decided to finish Kerfuffle's wing so I could suit on Sunday. Went to bed early because EXHAUSTION.
Sunday: Woke up due to an "accidental" pulling of the fire alarm ('cuz a furry con just isn't complete without the fire department showing up!), so went to the den early. Picked up some awesome swag, finished some badges, then threw on Kerfuffle with his wings for the first time. Lots of interactions, an impromptu lobby performance with the ever-talented
furgoneconclusions, which included a reprise from last year of Kerfuffle singing Let It Go, then backing up furgoneconclusions as he performed What's Going On. Drew quite a crowd, all taking photos/video and clapping at the end of our performance! So glad that happened, especially when I have a hard time performing in front of crowds merely because I get so out of breath in his suit. Yes, singing is not only difficult in the voice I give Kerfuffle, but also difficult in his suit due to lack of air. XD Took Kerfuffle off, finished up my day in the den, packed up, went to closing ceremonies. I missed the Town Hall Meeting, but apparently there was 100% positive feedback on the signage this year. So glad people were happy with my push for better signage and what I did to improve them now that I'm the con's Lead Graphic Designer, and much thanks to the Artist GOH 
zhivagod for making a last-minute podium design for the signs to spice them up according to the con theme when my own initial idea fell through due to lack of resources and, eventually, time. Had to sadly miss the post-con staff party, as well, due to chimera005ao and I needing to work the next morning, but at least it was a smooth ride home.
Overall, the con was great. A few bumps and such, but at this point a con doesn't seem to be complete without some kind of drama in my personal ring. At one point, I was ready to give up and no longer deal at cons, but thanks to all the support from both friends who knew about the situation as well as customers buying my stuff despite it all being take-home, the possibility of quitting the con dealing scene faded rather quickly.
In a nutshell:
- Put up 14 pieces in the Art Show. 10 pieces sold, most for close to the after sale price/what I usually sell them for at other cons!
- Received 17 badge orders on top of premade merchandise sales, making this my most profitable convention yet. The numbers aren't important, though; what's important is they reflect the fact that people are willing to support what I do, and for that I am very grateful!
- Met lots of new, awesome people and hung out with "the usuals," making for a great convention socially.
- Received one "Kerfuffle is my favorite fursuit!" claim on my way out of the hotel on Sunday evening, which was totally the icing on the con cake. X3 So happy to know Kerfuffle has fans, and I hope that number continues to grow to a point where I can finally make him into what he is meant to be: a figure for anti-bullying and self-appreciation no matter who you are.
Thanks to all reading this that actually attended the con. I hope you stopped by to say hello! I apologize to those in the preorder top ten that didn't get their badges at the con; I'll be contacting you individually for methods of delivery (i.e., if you're local and close enough to do an in-person delivery or if I need to ship, the cost of which will be on me, of course, since I couldn't deliver at con). Going to get through those this week so I can start on the 11+ preorders, then start knocking out the at-con orders. Hoping to be done within three weeks!
And now, the best news of all...NO MAJOR CONS FOR ME UNTIL FWA AT THE END OF MARCH. I've been looking forward to this break for a few months now so I can catch up on my queue and finish a few personal projects before I need to start making prints and taking badge orders again for next year's con line up. This is going to be a very nice and quiet seven-month break.

Badge Commissioners Update! Please Read!

Officially, it can be said that I will not get to the badges that did not make the top ten in the raffle. The top ten will be done before and during the con due to a time crunch.
In a nutshell, I'm finishing my first commissioned suit that NEEDS to be done by RMFC, so it's taking priority (have had it in my queue long before any of the preorder badges). I'll be bringing my supplies to finish the guaranteed (top ten in the raffle) RMFC pickup badges at con during den hours.
The rest of you, if you were not in the guaranteed (eleven and on) slots, will have shipping added to your invoices when sent. If this is an issue for you (although it was mentioned from the start that it was a possibility), you are more than welcome to cancel your order. However, please be aware that canceling means in the future (unless I am holding another discounted badges raffle) you will be paying full price for your order.
Feel free to note me if you would like to cancel your order. I won't hold it against you! But otherwise, your badges will be done shortly after RMFC and shipped to you.

Posted 10 years agoI've had a lot of folks from the RMFC preorder badge raffle messaging me about payment. So I'm just going to post a journal about it so all can see:
My process is that I do not take payment until I am ready to work your piece. Due to my schedule and full-time job, I am uncomfortable taking payment right away in case something happens with my job or my life and I am unable to get to your badge for a while. When I take everyone's payments all at once, I feel obligated to work on things ASAP, which results in rushed, unmotivated work, and I feel I am not giving you my best.
So please, don't worry. I haven't forgotten about your orders. I have them all in my Trello, and I'm sending invoices as I'm ready to work.
Also, another note specifically to those in the RMFC preorder raffle: Only the first ten orders are GUARANTEED RMFC pickup. Please understand that this does mean I may get to yours, as well, if you didn't make the top ten, but it also means that it might not happen. I know a lot of you will be at RMFC, and I'm hoping to get at least those done (I've already messaged non-attendees about being placed at the end of the queue to help with this), but know that it's NOT a guarantee per the raffle rules. This means that, if I do not get to it before or at RMFC, it will incur a shipping charge. Again, this is why I only take payment when I'm ready, so that shipping can be applied to the invoice if needed.
I'm trying to get through all of them, or at least enough that I can complete the rest at the con since I will only be taking take-home orders on commissions this year, but please understand that those not in the top ten may not receive their badge at the con per the raffle rules.

You CAN get a badge NOW at the preorder price and NOT being attending RMFC. All it means is it's going to require a small shipping fee--either $2.50 for standard shipping (about 5-7 days) or $5.50 for 2-day shipping with tracking. (These are the domestic shipping prices; for anyone outside of the US, it will cost a bit more.)
Just a note for those who missed it: I am currently at 10 orders, which is the cutoff for the raffle. Any requests made from here on until I close on Monday will push the preorders into raffle mode! For details on how the raffle mode works, see the journal link in the preorders submission description.

Rather than opening for requests tomorrow, I will be pushing it off a week--so, the new opening day will be 26 JUNE (technically 25 JUNE at around 11:59 EST), with a closing date of 28 JUNE at 11:59 EST.
Mark your calendars, folks! No excuse for not nabbing a slot in those three days; once I close, I close until my next con, which isn't until February of next year!

Opening Soon For Discounted Badges!
Posted 10 years agoI will be opening for RMFC preorder badges at a discounted price starting June 19th - 21st 26th - 28th. On the 22nd 29th, requests will be closed.
Between now and the22nd 29th, I will be pushing through my queue to get it cleared out and all that owed art to the lovely, patient folks waiting for them!
I'll post a price guide on the19th 26th, so that folks are aware of some new prices due to some material/technique modifications.
Just like before, I will be opening for 10 slots. If more than 10 slots (1 slot = 1 commissioner, 1 or multiple badges) are claimed, the preorders will enter raffle mode to keep things fair for all requesting a slot.
How the raffle works: When I close on the22nd 29th, everyone will be assigned a number and put through a random number generator. The first 10 numbers will receive a preorder spot, which means these slots are guaranteed completion for pickup the first day of RMFC. Any remaining spots (11 and on) will still receive the preorder discount but will not be guaranteed completion for con pickup; rather, they will be finished at or after the con.
How multiple badge requests works: Remember that 1 slot = 1 commissioner but you can request multiple badges; HOWEVER, only one badge will be at the discount price. Any other requests you make will be at regular price. Speaking of RMFC, for those who didn't know, I am actually the staff member in charge of graphic design, which includes the con theme logo, con book, and something new I brought to the execs' attention that RMFC really needs: SIGNAGE. I dunno about you, but I get easily lost when reading maps and such. I prefer a big colorful sign that says "THIS IS WHERE THIS THING IS YAY" and then little arrows pointing to where OTHER things are in relation to the current THING YAY. So, hopefully my endeavors will help other congoers that are are directionally inept as I am. X3

New Order of Events
Posted 10 years agoSooo as usual, time is NOT on my side this year. As a result, I need to rearrange my priorities:
1. DCC Con Prep
2. TFF Take Home Badges (you guys have been super patient, so you're up first! Only 4 left)

I apologize wholeheartedly for this delay, and you all have been SUPER patient with me. As a thank you, all of your orders will include extra goodies, to include your choice of one of the DCC prints! Prints will include the dino babies I'm currently working (two are done and in my gallery, if you'd like to see!), as well as (hopefully) some Zelda-themed prints (at the request of my boyfriend), some Batman-themed prints, and a few odds and ends if there is time (I have a looong list).

Posted 10 years agoFor those familiar with the Power Ranger-themed baby dino prints I created last year for Denver Comic Con, I'm doing a Series 2 for this year's DCC in four weeks!
I've already picked out the five species and five colors for this series, but I'd like YOUR input on which color should go with which dino!
Please take a moment to select ONE DIFFERENT COLOR for each species. Please try not to double up on or omit certain colors, as it "rigs" the results! :(

Order of Events!
Posted 10 years agoNow that FWA is out of the way, I can sit down and focus again on my queues. Thanks again to everyone waiting on art, whether paid or free, as I settle down from a rather exciting (both in a good and bad way) con experience this last weekend.
I also brought home something with me...I can't really pinpoint yet if it's con crud, my hay fever, or (after a disgusting surprise this morning) the beginnings of a sinus infection. @__@ I've been a bit fatigued since my return because of it, but I believe I'm finally feeling up to sitting down and working on my queue this evening!
As always, you can see my to-do list on my Trello (link on my profile), but in general the order of events goes as follows:
1. TFF Take Home Badges (you guys have been super patient, so you're up first! about 8 left)
2. FWA Take Home Badges (only two on the list, whee!)
3. TFF "Residual" Badges (basically those badges that didn't need to be done prior to TFF or FWA, mostly preorders)
4. 200 Watchers Winning art (will contact you guys when I'm ready!)
5. DCC Con Prep
Once I finish the TFF and FWA orders, I'll be unavailable for any and all commissions until after DCC, since I have a LOT to do for that con (one of my bigger, more successful cons). Once that's over, the only openings I'll have will be for RMFC preorders, most likely, since I'll need to focus on my duties as the RMFC Lead Graphic Designer at that point.
I believe that's it? Yes. XD Happy Thursday. *sneezes* o.o;;
