FWA 2015.....meh.
Posted 10 years agoIn a nutshell, this was a pretty "meh" con compared to previous years.
I'm pretty sure it's 'cuz of the new hotel. Really not that great.
I also didn't open all of Friday because I needed to work on a few TFF badges for folks who were actually there and could pick up their TFF badges at FWA and skip shipping, so I'm pretty sure I didn't even come close to breaking even this con.
All my art pieces in the art show sold, though! That was nice. :3 Also, more business cards were taken at this con than any of my past FWAs combined, which is kinda crazy. Yaaay approval! XD
I was also able to finish Kerfuffle Saturday evening and wear him around....for 20 minutes. I was sweating SO bad in him that when I pulled my head off in the headless lounge, my friends gasped and said I was dripping wet. Gross. XD
Thanks to all who made it and purchased a badge or any other merch from my table! See y'all next year! :3

Posted 10 years agoI will NOT be opening for FWA preorder badges. I am still working through my TFF badge queue, and that takes priority over opening for new badges.
Sorry to those who were looking forward to nabbing a cheaper badge or not attending FWA this coming weekend.
I'll have all badge options available at my table at full price, and I will also be bringing a few blank acrylic keychains to have them done at con rather than as a take home option, for anyone interested.
I will also have a bunch of random art pieces in the Art Show - mostly Pokemon from my PokeWittles series and a few cute little dogs. Nothing fancy. X3
I also plan on having Kerfuffle 2.0 all done and ready to waddle around and hand out free goodies, so if you're going, make sure to stop him and get a hug and reach into his pouch for a surprise! Could be candy, could be a snake bite. Just make sure you pay attention to the road signs. XD

Posted 10 years agoWith FWA only two weeks away, the chance for me opening any badge preorders is very slim, given I still have TFF badges that require my attention first (and to those commissioners, I am still incredibly grateful for your patience while I worked through some seriously hellish hours at my full-time job these past few weeks).
If I DO happen to open, it will most likely be this weekend or late next week for a very limited number of slots--I'm thinking 5 or 6 max--and some badge styles will be excluded from preorders only because they take longer than others.
As with the TFF preorders, because the prices are lower and slots are limited, I will be going into a raffle if there are more requests than there are slots, just to keep things fair for everyone. And also, as before, those who do not win one of the slots will still be offered the preorder price BUT their badge will not be finished in time for FWA.
I will also be doing something new this time around: If you are NOT attending FWA, you will need to say so. This is because it seems a bit unfair if we do a raffle and you win a slot ready before FWA yet are not attending, and then someone who IS attending FWA but doesn't get one of the slots is now waiting 'til after FWA for their badge. Make sense? I think so.
Also, as before, you can request as many badges as you'd like; HOWEVER, only ONE of the badges will be offered at the preorder price; you have your choice as to which badge you requested you'd like to pay the preorder price on, and the others will be at full price and finished after all other preorder priced badges are complete. 1. No, I'm NOT leaving FA. This account will remain as an easier means of communicating commission status and whatnot with current and potential customers.
2. I will no longer be posting high quality submissions. Anything posted here will from now on be photos that are not print-worthy OR good photos/scans that are heavily watermarked. This is to protect not only myself from people selling MY work, but also my customers from having THEIR characters reproduced/resold/etc...
3. I will ONLY post here with customer permission. I will post finished pieces elsewhere for customer review, then give the customer the option to have their work displayed in this gallery or only in my alternative galleries. Again, this is to protect the customer's rights to their character design(s).
4. DO NOT POST YOUR COMMISSIONS IN YOUR GALLERY WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. This is a general rule for ALL reposting of work, so PLEASE ask me in turn if I'm all right with having you repost my work in your gallery. As usual, I'll probably be fine with it as long as you credit back to me, BUT if it's a detailed digital or scanned piece, I WILL most likely require that you post a heavily watermarked version to avoid theft of MY work. I'm fine if you want to risk your character design(s) popping up on IMVU by posting to your gallery, but I am NOT okay with them potentially reselling what is still MY work under a different name. No. Just...no.
5. If you want more, find me elsewhere. I have left up badges and such that are PHOTOS because I don't believe there's much they can do with a badge; HOWEVER, if you would like your commission removed from my gallery to avoid your character designs potentially being stolen, please let me know below and I will remove it ASAP.

ALMOST THERE. (Commissioners Please Read)
Posted 10 years agoAnother update on my work week from hell! I've finally gotten to the rest of the TFF badges this last weekend, but it was not nearly as many as I'd hoped. My Sunday was completely taken up by the fact that my boyfriend's grandfather turned 90 so we had to drive up to his place and celebrate, then I was hit with a ton of work that needed to be done before Monday morning. So we left his grandfather's place at 2, got home around 3:30...and I went to take a nap due to a headache that hit me on the drive back. Woke up at 4:30, got to work on what I needed to do at 5, thinking it would only take me four hours tops.
I was up working 'til 2:30 AM.
The rest of the week has pretty much snowballed for me, to include total lack of sleep, super high stress levels, and culminating in a mental breakdown last night. Thankfully, one project is out the door as of 2 PM today, but now I have two days to finish yet another large project due at the end of this week.
Long and short of it is, I will continue badges from TFF this weekend. Possibly starting next week if the rest of this week continues to stress and exhaust me, as it means I will probably spend the weekend catching up on lots of lost sleep and letting my body recover.
At least the good news is I won't have another hellish week at work like this one again for a few months! :D

Holy Hella Slow, Batman! (Commissioners Please Read)
Posted 10 years agoSorry for the delay to everyone still waiting on badges from FWA!
I work a full-time job outside of my art, which has been pretty demanding of late due to two major project releases for next week. This has left me super exhausted of late, so on these days I typically come home, let my clothes fall of my body, crawl into bed, and lull myself to sleep with episodes of Rules of Engagement.
On top of that, there was a local convention this last weekend that was I super excited to suit at since I didn't finish my suit (Roflmao) in time to wear him around TFF the weekend prior. Unfortunately, despite my late nights to finish him and pushing off commissions to do so, he did not get done aside from the tail, which I still need to modify 'cuz it sticks out several inches from my butt, haha. @__@ Oi...
FEAR NOT, THOUGH. I plan on making this weekend my commission weekend, so I will have several badges complete and ready to ship to their respective owners come Monday, and each package will include a few extra goodies for the slight delay.

On top of that, there was a local convention this last weekend that was I super excited to suit at since I didn't finish my suit (Roflmao) in time to wear him around TFF the weekend prior. Unfortunately, despite my late nights to finish him and pushing off commissions to do so, he did not get done aside from the tail, which I still need to modify 'cuz it sticks out several inches from my butt, haha. @__@ Oi...
FEAR NOT, THOUGH. I plan on making this weekend my commission weekend, so I will have several badges complete and ready to ship to their respective owners come Monday, and each package will include a few extra goodies for the slight delay.

FEB 2015 UPDATES: TFF and Commissions
Posted 10 years agoI am officially attending TFF next week as a dealer! I will be in the den Friday through Sunday on the backside of the first block of center tables as you enter the den. Just look for the giant black and pink banner! I will have all badge styles available at regular price, completed at the con. Slots will be limited, so be sure to get on the list early. Badges will be completed in the order they are requested, with any badges requested before 3 PM to be finished the day of the request, and anything after 3 PM will be finished and ready for pickup the following morning, depending on how many orders there are. I may limit myself to 6 or 7 badges per day.
I will also have two NEW badge styles available for purchase at the con only: a con-themed badge and white board badges! I will post samples as soon as they are done as well as have them on display at the con, at the very latest. Stay tuned!
Commissions outside of cons will now be extremely limited. I need to focus not only on prints and suits (both personal and commissioned) for cons, but also really sit myself down and start on my duties as the RMFC Lead Graphic Designer. Lots of signs and such to draw up, as well as teaching myself a design program (won't take long, though, since I do such things for a living) for the conbook construction.
If you don't know about RMFC, it's a GREAT con in an awesome venue. Colorado is also a beautiful state to visit, in general, especially around August when the weather is JUUUST right. Sure, it's my home state so I may be biased, but I'm sure if you ask anyone who has been there, they'd agree. I will have flyers for RMFC at my table, as well as be up for answering any questions you may have about the con from a staff, dealer, and attendee perspective.

TFF PREORDERS ENTERS RAFFLE MODE
Posted 11 years agoWe've entered raffle mode, which means anyone who requests a badge now will be given a number once requests are closed, and I will draw ten random numbers. If your number matches one of the ten, you get one of the badges of your choice at the preorder price.

JAN 2015 UPDATES: TFF, Trello, and Website
Posted 11 years agoMy attendance at TFF is now a go! If you will be attending, I would love to see you there. I am still waiting to hear back on a confirmation as to whether or not I will have a table in the Dealer's Den, but either way I will be there and try for the Artist Alley lottery a few times in case the dealer table is a no go. As a result, I will be opening for preorder badges three weeks from the con. I may or may not have a toony design available to compliment the con's theme, but I will have my usual badges up for grabs. You can find my prices at the link at the end of this journal. The white text applies to preorders; just replace RMFC with TFF!
Due to my growing social media accounts, I will no longer be keeping a list of commissions in this journal or anywhere else. I have consolidated them into my Trello, which you can now find in my profile information as well as at the end of this journal. Things are hectic enough as it is lately, so it's easier to list commissions in one place for all to access when they'd like to see where they stand as far as commission status goes.
Also, I have been working at revamping my website, which lists all of my social media sites, online stores, and gallery pages, as well as information on everything I offer. Please be sure to bookmark it (link at end of this journal) and add any of my social media pages to your own corresponding accounts for the latest on my con appearances, commission status, any sales or discounts, and so on.

I also wanted to take a moment to remind everyone (or inform, if you didn't already know) of my schedule as an artist:
Unlike some artists here that do commissions, ART IS NOT MY JOB. I work as a full time technical writer, which demands the bulk of my time during the week, leaving VERY little time (evenings and weekends) to attend to personal things outside of work. As a result, my orders tend to take longer than the average artist.
On the bright side, having an art business as merely supplementary income lets me keep my prices lower than most artists of my caliber, HOWEVER it also means that I tend to have a turnaround time that's two to three times longer than artists that depend on art for income because they don't work full time.
I'm not trying to make excuses, but merely educating my commissioners on why the wait is usually pretty long. No, I haven't forgotten about you. No, I haven't scammed you. I like to be as honest as I can when it comes to offering commissions, and in return all I ask is understanding when it comes to my schedule.
So far 99% of my commissioners have been super patient with me, and for that I'm extremely grateful. But also remember that I am always happy to refund anyone 100% and immediately should they change their mind and want to take their money to an artist with a faster turnaround. It won't hurt my feelings unless, of course, you're rude about it despite my aforementioned explanation, in which case I will probably put you on a blacklist because if you're rude even with my honesty and a 100% immediate refund guarantee, then you're obviously not the type of commissioner I'd want to bother working with in the first place.

I've always wanted to be involved in staff ops for a convention, but they're either 1. not looking, or 2. looking for positions that would require a staff presence at the con, resulting in my not being able to have a table in the Dealer's Den.
So when RMFC (Rocky Mountain Fur Con) opened up for a Lead Graphic Designer position...well, I just had to jump on that gravy train. X3
Well, got the word few days ago that I got the part! So I am officially in charge of advertisements, the con book, and the pocket schedule! And the best part is, once it's all done, my part in con ops is over, and I can be at my table the entire weekend!

Posted 11 years agoJust a note that I will be planning on opening again for commissions in September. Slots will be limited so that I don't run into the issue I did last year/earlier this year of making folks wait forever 'cuz 1. my list was unmanageable, and 2. my muse was on vacation for 3/4 of the year, and I don't like making art for others unless I'm at my full potential.
Plans for September include:
-4 2 badge slots (one per week; will add more depending on schedule);
-1 Back to School YCH (charity piece; 75% of total money made will go to a non-profit organization supporting children from low-income families and/or children's literacy)no time;
-1 personal suit (will work on in down time between commissions to add to my list of examples for suit making; hoping to have it done for NDK)no time; and
