Much Excitement for next year
Posted 11 years agoWoo! After two years away, Gnome and I will be attending FWA 2015!
I'm looking forward to it in the worst way ^^

My own private pond...
Posted 11 years ago...is located in my closet. Apparently, there are two drain holes for my washing machine in the laundry room, and only one of them has a drain pipe attached. Guess which one the drain hose was inserted into?
So, yes. I inadvertently filled my wall with water. Three times (wash/ rinse and wash again) in fact. So, I'm just waiting for the water extraction folks to come and remove the lake from my closet.
I'm hoping the wallboard dries back there and doesn't mold, but some large part of me is saying that's unlikely :/

Holy Toledo!
Posted 11 years agoI'm finally all moved into my new apartment! In Toledo, no less!
Waking up
Posted 11 years agoThis week marks the last week of my academic career. Hooray!
But also marks the last week I get to be with Gnome full time. Boo....
BUT, I'm going to Toledo for work and I can visit her in Cincinnati whenever, so yay!
All in all, I'm so excited to be moving on in life, having an income, etc. I'd like to be more active on here, and hopefully now I'll have time to get back to drawing and hanging out with you folks in livestreams.
Here's to a great new section of life.

Home! Home, home, homehomehomehome!
Posted 13 years agoNot much more to say, than we made it. I took the wheel in Rapid City Friday morning, and drove straight to the Keeweenaw in MI, arriving this morning.
Hoorah!
Hoorah!
Not again....
Posted 13 years agoFirst, a history lesson. In 2008 the church i was in had a youth group mission trip to a reservation in South Dakota. When we were all set to leave and fly back to Ohio, our flight was delayed, and delayed till it was cancelled at midnight, thus stranding us in Rapid City overnight.
This summer,
LimpingGnome took her car out to California for work, and I being the good boyfriend I am, decided to fly out and drive back with her. We had great plans, drive throufh Yellowstone, see Mt. Rushmore, go to the Mall of America, and make it back to the Upper Peninsua of Michigan. All in three days.
Day one, Monday, went great, we loaded up the Taurus and drove 14 hours to a campground just outside of Yellowstone. The next day, we loaded up and readied ourselves for the nine and a half hours through Yellowstone to Mt. Rushmore, but fate had other plans. Somewhere, in the midst of fields, the car decided to destroy it's own transmission and strand us on the side of the road. Fortunately, we had cell service, and got a helpful tow to the nearest transmission repair shop.....in Rapid City.
Every time I get near this city, I end up stuck there. Coincidence? Maybe.

MyLife.com is unnerving incarnate
Posted 13 years agoToday, I decided to do a Google search of my own name (because, really, who doesn't). Now, normally my name turns up a few articles I either wrote in our school paper, or one particular story a local paper wrote with me in it, but this time the top result was from a particular MyLife.com
I've seen their ads, and not really thought much of it. I never had need to go there, and thought it was kind of dumb to subscribe to a website just so they could tell you people are looking for you. I assumed it was like every other social media site out there, I put in information, make a profile, etc.
I didn't expect what I found.
What was there was a profile already made about me, featuring name, age, address, phone number, etc. etc. Granted, I'm assuming about the phone number, but it did have (visible to me, a non member) an (incorrect) location from the last place I'd lived. Also, familial connections including full names of all my relatives.
Frankly, this is creeping me the hell out. What did I do? To which service did I unthinkingly subscribe that allowed personal information like this to fall into the hands of these aggrigators? What are their sources?
Maybe I'm just over thinking it. Maybe all this could be found in legitimate ways, public records, rental agreements. But I cannot help feeling a little violated over this. I did not give them consent to display this information. Suppose there was a stalker out there who wanted to find me (or anyone else, for that matter) This kind of site would make it extremely easy to do just that!
*shudder* Am I the only person who feels unsettled by this?

Commissions by an awesome person I love!
Posted 13 years agoOkay, I usually don't do this, and it'll probably be a repeat for a lot of you reading this.
But
LimpingGnome has opened up commissions for all sorts of art and awesomeness! Go here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3378804/ for details and all that fun-ness.
And yes, Gnome, I know you're gonna kill me for doing this and getting the word out but frankly bite me. :P

Unemployment
Posted 13 years agoFor the time being, I am currently without a job. Now, I don't really mind the sleeping in all the time, nor do I mind the lack of funding due to circumstances, but by GOD am I bored. Seriously, what do unemployed people do all day?!
On FWA, all sorts of Friends, and an Ultra Lounge
Posted 13 years agoI have just returned from the awesomeness that was Furry Weekend Atlanta!
After a butt busting car ride with
LimpingGnome and
RyanWhite, we arrived at the hotel only to find
adtuna1192 (with whom we shared a room) and
HollieHyena waiting for us. After check in and a quick shower, it was off to the dealer's den to meet up with
Genesisw and
gens_Uriel first off, then to see
Christopher P who was attending for his first time, and
lizardbeth (whom one of these days I'll hopefully be able to actually talk to/commission). What a joy it is to see so many people who make the comics I love.
A quick lunch with Hollie and Teller, resulting in uproarious laughter, led swiftly to Artist Alley perusing and a meetup with
starallon.
Before I knew it, it was time for
Hali's concert, and the acquisition on the new album. Hooray for being sneaky enough to get one! >.>;
Saturday brought more con time, panels, and a chance meeting with new found friends
jenks and
dragonmelde whom we met at a panel and later went to lunch with. Their conversation and wit made my morning. A rousing game of "Oh Gnome you Don't" with Hollie, Teller, Gnome, and
Shane_LaFleur padded my afternoon to a hilarious conclusion. (To the parties involved, berries. That is all.)
Finishing a wonderful day, dinner with Gnome, Hollie, Teller Shane, and Uriel with much walking, ice cream and conversational silliness.
Truly an awesome weekend I wouldn't trade for anything. Thank you, all my friends, so much for the times and experience you've given me!

Woohoo! Work!
Posted 14 years agoFeels good to be submitting things again.
Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner, so photos will have to do for now unless I really want to put time into digital.

A little explanation
Posted 14 years agoSome folks have noticed I have not been as active lately as I used to be. Reason being, it's now sixth week, about halfway through our school term, and I've been swamped with school work. As such, I can't attend livestreams, make my own art, or do much of anything else. I have still been keeping up with your subs though, and let me say I've been impressed with what I see. Keep up the good work.
That being said, Gnome and I have been working on a project lately during our limited off hours that I'm hoping people will like. I'll see if she'll let me spillany details.
For an explanation of my absence, look here: http://charlesmarker.deviantart.com/#/d46uiuv
Marker out.

Posted 14 years agoWoo! Finally got out of my hometown. I've been living in the same tiny town for too many years.
Next work term, I hope it all goes well.

FFFFFFFFF!!!!
Posted 14 years agoDamn it.
Let the record show, that I am a moron. Don't go clicking links in journals that don't have explanations. And if you do, and it comes to a blank screen, visit your journal page to clear out the riffraff that's put up for you..

Posted 14 years agoSAI!!!
Posted 14 years agoDecided to download SAI to give it a shot. So far, it's a bit confusing but I see where they're going. Different controls are always tricky at first.
Oh, hello there productivity, where have you been hiding?
Posted 14 years agoToday, I picked up my tablet and had to literally dust it off.
It might have been a while since I've done anything digital. Let's see how some things turn out.

10 Things

10: I am quite enamored with puns
9: In an unfamiliar circumstance I will either be incredibly timid, or incredibly brazen. One or the other.
8: I cannot stand the sound of people drinking.
7: I am comfortable with GLBTQ issues, just don't come on to me or be annoying about it.
6: I'm fascinated with learning about other people, their experiences, and the conditions that made them that way.
5: It you respect me, I will respect you. If not, you earn your resentment.
4: I love to send out pictorial letters to folks, and every time hope for replies. A pen pal wouldn't be unwelcome.
3: Very few folks IRL know I'm a furry, and I'm hesitant to tell them. >.>;
2: I am appreciative for all my friends on here, and like to hear from you all.
1: I hate saying "I" this much in a journal post
Do this if you want to, I tag everyone and no one!

Random ramblings
Posted 14 years agoThus starts a new work term. Out of Flint and back to safe old Ohio. Yay. Back to a normal 8-5 schedule, homework free weekends, and a chance to scan in some works.
Also, I invested in a webcam, so maybe I'll try my hand at this "streaming" thing.
Cheers all!

Allegory
Posted 14 years agoWhile trawling around the internet, I happened to stumble upon this interesting gem. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vid.....its/2005-Gamer
What struck me was the fact that a distinct parallel could be drawn between gamers and furries. Granted, it's not a perfect allegory, but the basic idea is there.
