Whatever you do...
Posted 10 years ago...don't go to DC for Black Friday. O_o
I have been kind of hesitant to pick a destination for my shopping since I moved here. Mostly since unlike Georgia, I have quite a choice when it comes to locales to go shopping; Richmond, Hampton Roads, Raleigh-Durham, Fredricksburg...and DC Metro. Sadly if I really wanted to go to Microcenter I would have to go to NoVA, which means DC. Thankfully Microcenter's specials aren't that great (and mostly in-store only >.<) and since I all I really want right now is an external hard drive, I can skip it and go somewhere else. Based on my options though I might go towards Virginia Beach over Raleigh-Durham though since I'm wanting to go to HobbyTown USA (and there's two out there). Just need to check ads for anything of potential interest.
And yes, other than movies and Big Bang Theory Season 8 or if you're on Steam or HLJ...not really worth doorbusting at all folks. I'm more for getting lost, finding interesting noms (and a nearby Wawa for breakfast) and maybe an interesting find or two doorbuster or no. Just wish the stupid chain stores would get the idea that offering the same one-off loss leader garbage that gets cruddy tech support doesn't float (just too bad there's too many stupid people who buy it anyway).
So far things have been going alright around here. Been a bit nippy since the weather has gotten a bit cooler but that's falltime for ya. It's nice and quiet around here but annoyingly to get to the county seat to do some things, it's 10 minutes the other way from town and work. :P Gotta pot luck lunch tomorrow and I'm gonna try out a pork loin for the first time in a slow cooker. Just hope I get it right as I cook it overnight. Then on Wednesday I'm gonna head over to the Horseshoe and have a Pilgrim sandwich. :3

From Mecklenburg to Mecklenburg
Posted 10 years agoStill traveling around - not because I haven't moved in yet, but rather I am up in Michigan for some job training. It's been going good so far, but it has been too bright for Michigan. :P
I officially moved in on Halloween after a long trip from Missouri. Buuuuuut, as a bit of spooky spooks, my well pump went out Sunday morning thanks to the pressure switch failing. Thankfully that was fixed up the next day while I was at my first day of work. Got everything set up except my driver's registration...but I gotta use satellite internet and to be honest I would rather have Comcast. *le gasp*
It's a nice place with hardwood floors and lots of space. But as a kit who likes his floor time, hardwood, even with a rug and a blanket to lay on, it is still too hard. Thankfully as a kit, there are foam play mats and so I have one on order. My dog doesn't care, she gets a loveseat to herself...and the foot of my bed.
As I mentioned, I am currently in Michigan for some training. On my way to Richmond, I had my first Wawa breakfast hoagie - eggs with bacon, red peppers and a tomato pesto. It was darn good, but I soon found that Wawa hoagies and cars don't mix as it was also darn messy. Also got my second taste of coneys, my first of Greek salad, and plenty of Faygo. On the way back I'll be going through the layover headache known as Charlotte-Douglas (anyone who has swapped planes there would agree)...then picking Luna up from the vet on Saturday (she was also due for her shots, too....other vet wanted $24/day for boarding).
I have other things on my mind, but I'll save it till my return.

Loading up and Heading East
Posted 10 years agoWelp, it's the day after turning 30 (bleh), but I haven't been able to really take it easy the last few days. Mostly because I have been getting ready to move out to Virginia this weekend. So I have been packing my car up and this evening getting a U-haul trailer loaded up ready to go so I can make the move. I will probably be out of contact until sometime in the middle of next week (I apologize ahead of time to anyone I have been communicating with, but I dunno how fast I can get internet set up and all out there).
One of the more annoying things I had to contend with was what to do with Miss Luna. I was thinking of leaving her at my folks until Christmas but Penny really doesn't like my dog hanging around...and made that clear when she bit Luna early this week (really hard too). So it looks like she'll be joining me as I head out tomorrow (just have to figure out how to fit her kennel in my folks' car for travel purposes). I just hope my mom doesn't make me unload half the stuff I have in my car just to put her kennel in when I don't have that much left around here to load (and the only thing from my sister's storage unit they had in there was the stools from my table).
Not a whole lot else going on other than recruiters all of a sudden calling for job related stuff. I don't get it why they call more after you got a job offer and are off the market...and when they call again and again when you're trying to get things packed and utilities set up. >.< Naggers - job seekers don't like that (and more so for those who just got a job and are working on relocation).
As I said, I'll be out of contact for a few days and hopefully I'll be back on early next week when I start working in Virginia.

End of a Trailer...Start of Another Thing
Posted 10 years agoThis week has been pretty big for me so far - but I'll start with the preceding weekend.
My folks decided to celebrate both my birthday and my dad's birthday quite early on the 10th of October. Went to the hibachi restaurant in Jeff City for some goodies off the teppanyaki and cringing as my older niece and nephew when for the chicken nuggets (not even made from chicken they use at the hibachi - something they could easily do with all that chicken and tempura batter). Afterward, we went up the river to Hermann for one of their Oktoberfest spiels. I had thought they were going to take the family to Hartsburg for the Pumpkin festival to be honest...probably would have been the better suggestion since unlike their Maifest celebration, there really isn't anything for kiddos to do in a town that reveres its booze (beer and wine) and hogs (yes, there were many Harley Davidsons roaming through town) and no kiddie activities for three school-age children. Sunday was mostly bleh - my sister's daughters had a very short hayride while my folks and I detailed and washed my car. Then on Monday since my dad was home since he still works for the state we went into town and looked at floormats for my car and some posts to fix a fence. Only problem I'll have is to keep my car locked since the floormats are something my older niece would really want. :P
Yesterday was something I've been wanting to see happen for a loooooong time (just over four years in fact). My trailer in Illinois finally closed out. Thankfully my folks were able to take care of the short sell (though I will have to get a personal loan a bit later to pay them back and assume the payments myself) and I took care of transferring the utilities. But I am officially moved out of Illinois and no longer have to worry about that baggage anymore. Just leaves mostly student loans at this point for major headaches and when I'm ready paying for the short sell I'll have that as well.
And for today, after three in-person interviews, a punctured tire on the way back from Kansas, rental car follies and a quick-thinking save due to a Tanger outlet mall being next door to my hotel in Michigan, I actually got a job offer for the position out in Southern Virginia. Though I have a short turnaround to respond to the offer (though I think I will be accepting the offer), I would be starting at the start of November. So once the physical and stuff are taken care of, I have a little rental hunting to do (I already did much of the homework in terms of car and driver license and utilities). Given what I have to work with I might poke on out there before I make the big move to see the apartments and such in person.
To finish it all off, one little bit of irony just as I get my formal offer today. Since in a job hunt you don't gamble on just one position, I did an interview today for a position for a glass fiber plant and I finally found out why I was turned down for the role I interviewed for in mid-late August (other than just saying someone more qualified was selected). They felt that I was not prepared for the on-site interview in Wilmington when to be honest, when you have to work around headaches such as personal worries (as that was about the time I was struggling with having to move back to Missouri to better support myself), not knowing some of the questions because some of their processes are naturally proprietary and the added stresses to weather and technology-related headaches (especially on the way back), I was certainly not in top form. But it also makes me think of my interview up around the Youngstown, OH area where they also pointed out interpersonal skills as a big part of the decision...that kinda irks me a bit because like doctors and parents, companies seem to have an irrational fear of folks with disabilities (especially autistics; trust me, I asked a recruiter before about that) and can use that as a reason not to hire someone. Interview prep is much like communication skills - requires a good deal of interpersonal skills but also a good bit of focus and thinking in advance on what to ask and what you feel needs covered. That has always been a challenge for me and from my perspective a bit unfair especially when you have many other things to worry about on top of just knowing yourself and what questions or ideas you might have to present to your interviewers.
But...aw well, can't really gripe too much about said interview today when I have an offer on my plate and I am very likely to take it. Their loss, not mine.
I guess that's about all for now - communications might be a bit sporadic between now and the start of November so bear with me as I pack up the caravan and Head East.

Really Pokemon?
Posted 10 years agoOkay whoever writes the Pokemon Anime, don't you realize you're making Serena a Kalos clone of May?
Cute girl with the region's fire-type starter? Check.
More interested in contests than actually being a Pokemon trainer? Check.
Has an Eevee? Check, check check! (Probably will become a Sylveon)
Loves dolling up her Pokemon? Check!
Dang it, after May and Dawn, Iris was refreshing in Unova since she was more like Misty in that she was quite the tomboy and actually was learning how to be a dragon tamer. But, whoever writes the anime is going back to cute girl doing contests and not going to the gyms and actually trying to be a rival like in the video games, travelling with Ash. >.< For that matter, for all her annoyances, Misty was more interesting and more original than May, Dawn and Serena (Who wouldn't want to see Misty's Gyrados Mega Evolve?). Hopefully when they go 7th Gen (and hopefully the Canada theme), they either make someone closer to the female rival in the video games or more like Iris and Misty in the anime.
Secondly, what's the point of making Hoopa available by code on American 3DS units but the codes are only available in the Philippines or Singapore/Malaysia? If you have American codes, make them available over here. >.< Probably many Pokemon fans who would kill for a legit Hoopa and Volcanion and not have to twist the arms of Japanese fans or hack the games to get Hoopa and its Prison Bottle and Volcanion.
End rant...thanks Game Freak.
In other news, I wound up in Kansas last week - second on-site interview with the same company I interviewed in Virginia in the middle of nowhere Flint Hills. My mom thought it was because they were also looking for someone at their Kansas plant, which would have made her "happy" (though given the fact Kansas is 1) in Tornado Alley, 2) the nearest Wal-Mart to the plant is in either Manhattan or Emporia and 3) Kansas is just about the driest state in the Union, I would still pick Virginia any day of the week). And I have one more on-site with them at their technical facility in Michigan. Let's just say this company is really interested in seeing how the candidate fits in with the company based on their values.
Also got a new cell phone as a "Christmas" gift from my folks. Fair enough - mine was getting about 3 years old and has been everywhere. So I ended up with a HTC phone this time and got an Otter box for it. Thankfully the USB cord and wall charger that I somehow still had from my old work Blackberry still works with it. Already loaded Angry Birds: Epic and Bad Piggies on the phone (though that's a rant for another day...to say nothing about the Angry Birds movie...putting feet on the birds and piggies. >.<).
It stinks when you can't spend a little money on Gunpla, G-Tekketsu so far has much more interesting mecha than G-Reco and Gundam AGE, especially the grunts in the form of the Graze and some of the other "Gundam" suits (yes, even the one that looks more like the Gable from Gundam X than a Gundam). It's just so annoying when I want to order something I have be creative and well-timed with my shipping so my folks don't go poking into my business (that includes stuff currently in my sister's storage unit) - I'd love to get the 1/144th scale Gundam Barbatos and the Schwalbe Graze and build them.
And if anyone is wondering about the Disney/Hasbro/Revell embargo on Bandai's Star Wars stuff (But oddly not Kotobukiya's Episode VII merchandise), I think that's another posting for another time. Yea, it's a Disney heresy and we need our Chissmarines to come in all If the Emperor had a Text-to-Speech Device style and be overachievers (if you are Warhammer 40K fans, just look it up it's pretty funny as it pokes fun at both the fluff and Game Workshop).

Sorting them Out
Posted 10 years agoWell, it seems that FA has finally incorporated folders - probably something thanks to the competition using, but hey, helps quite a bit in finding certain themed submissions. I have started already though it'll be slow going - just read the previous two journals and you'll see what I mean. Having a computer with a "bedtime" just stinks (thanks to a kid with said bedtime).
On the other hand, I am gearing up for my interview Thursday in southern Virginia with a company that makes fused silica, among other stuff. This will be an interested trip and as much as I have been pushing to get something in terms of work I just want something to work out for me. It's something I gotta do and it's best if I just do it.
Conversely though, getting foods that your nieces and nephews won't touch is a good thing - especially if they are not into spicy stuff so loading up on the sriracha, tomato juice and stuff is a good idea to ensure a food supply around these parts.
Finally, if you are a North American Pokemon ORAS player...get on Mystery Gift and bag yourself a shiny Rayquaza, Mega Evolution ready. Just connect to Mystery Gift by internet and you'll get it, no fuss. Better move though since I think today's the last day for said promotion (and still no sign of an Arceus or Darkrai event/giveaway that's generally available).
Not much else to say though...just wish I had more private access to my computer, or Skype at least.

Soooo Crowded
Posted 10 years agoUgh...and they complained about me having little athropods scurrying all over my apartment they had to bug bomb my stuff. >.< My folks' place is worse...hardly any room to set up anything and the basement is all but impassible. It's a wonder they don't have tons of bugs all over their place. >.>
So I have relocated to my folks' place last weekend and had to deal with weather worse than Middle Georgia (I never got a bug bite in Georgia but one minute in Missouri I already had a couple on my legs) and still not 100% moved in yet due to space and having to slowly un-quarantine my stuff and I was afraid that my folks would have found some of my cubby stuff I had taken along to have on paw whenever I had the change. Thankfully my mom's ambitions do not match her actual plan. Since I'm in charge of getting stuff cleaned up, that means I get to control what is seen or not. :P I just wish I had a little more permanent area to set up my computers as I just managed to get my good computer set up in the living room - just for the weekend since they are down in Branson and I get to dogsit for a herd of poodle.
Did managed to get a few local interviews to try and get a job but so far no dice. And to top it all off I also found that the people who were going to buy my trailer ended up weltching out since they couldn't sell their old property. >.< Just what I need as I just want to finally be rid of that stupid thing, especially right now where it's a burden on me (and my folks) since my unemployment doesn't last very long and doesn't cover enough of my expenses.
On the upside, I did get some good phone interviews for a few different engineering roles, one ironically enough in Georgia between Altanta and Athens. :P I just hope I can get some action going before I end up stuck here too long.

Just Darn It
Posted 10 years agoWhen it rains it pours...and it pours dog slime. >.<
As much as I wanted to finally secure a good engineering role before now, it just isn't working that well. >.< Ended up running out of resources and just broke. I know many of us don't like to ask their folks for help but I hadda ask my folks for help. Soooo...I'll be moving out of Georgia and returning to Missouri to stay with my folks for a while. Everyone knows that I don't like really to stay with my folks, especially now since my sister and her children also live there. Might not be as on as much as I like either. Just wish my job search was going much better than hopping around the country only to find I was turned down for the role.
On the other hand it seems that my trailer in Illinois has finally sold. About darn time to say the least as that's been a big burden on me ever since I moved from Illinois. Taking a bit of a loss but that's better than trying to pay stuff like escrow and lot rent (especially since the stupid managers never kept a good watch on the trailer so I lost a barbecue grill and lawn mower from being swiped). Now I gotta take care of all the transfers and endings but I am glad that is finally ending.
Wish I had better news...but I better get packed since I'll be moving out tomorrow.

The Angry Job-Seeking Nerd
Posted 10 years agoYes, I hadda parody AVGN...but if I had put some sort of recording device next to me while I do my job searching, I'd probably make Mr. AVGN blush as I can talk some serious trash talk out of frustration to the point where you think playing any LJN game is like paradise compared to trying to remember a telephone book worth of passwords and different companies can use some teeny tiny variations on the basic platforms for passwords which just frustrate you so much you wish they were copies of Dick Tracy for the NES or ET for the Atari and run a drill with a 1" bit through it. Yeah...it's that frustrating.
And so goes my job search so far it seems. >.> Still no offers on the table, even after going all the way up to Kohler, WI (which was in the low 60's at the start of July where Augusta/Atlanta was mid 90s and feeling like the Okeefenokee Swamp - that was a vacation; all except I wish Kohler's little market had Sprecher's Hard Root Beer as a single bottle to enjoy.), Muskogee, OK and other many locales. That includes to instances going from Augusta to Atlanta/Alpharetta twice within a couple of months. Well, last week's trip to Atlanta seems to be promising as I interviewed with a company that provides services to industrial minerals/lime/cement companies with a wide variety of processes and process knowledge. The manager seemed to like me and overall I think the team liked my personality and experience. They had asked for my references and should be calling them this week. And upcoming, later this week I will actually be out in New Mexico interviewing for a position with a company that does piezoelectric components, early next week out in the San Jose area for a company that does LED lamps and lights and the week after out around Cleveland for a company that makes tools. Hopefully I might get an offer before hand but I don't...I don't think I'll mind actually travelling to new locales and such (even if the prospect of jobs in Cali driving my mom as batty as Howard's mom from The Big Bang Theory).
On top of it all...since I feel that my severance/bonus from my job is running out - hadda apply for unemployment (though in my opinion it's barely enough to cover my bills on a monthly basis - for just three months). So hopefully I'll finally have a job offer (and if it's somewhere in the Southeast at least relocating won't be that big of a headache) so I don't have to rely on that too long.
I might post something a little more fun later (like...GROUND MARINES! or...G-Tekketsu and the Gundam Barbatos or...playing Stick of Truth and doing everything you can to get Cartman angrier at you than he does with Kyle). :P

Steven's been "Stoned"
Posted 10 years ago:P I posed a question on my previous journal asking what Pokemon you used when taking on Steven Stone, the Hoenn champion - particularly his ace Pokemon (Mega) Metagross. All I've saw on YouTube is everyone going Mega and having a long dragged out fight against a powerhouse pseudo-legendary. However, I managed to stop an unstoppable force with an immovable object. :P
In Omega Ruby - I used my Dusknoir "Grimskull" and save for one Meteor Mash, he couldn't lay a claw on me. I had him locked on a Confuse Ray and Wil-o-Wisp and finished him off with a Shadow Punch.
In Alpha Sapphire (which I just finished the initial game yesterdayish), I did go with a Mega Evolution to finish him - but I knew what I had in mind. I called upon my Aggron "Ferrus Manus" and just walled his attacks and used Earthquake and finished him within oh...3-4 turns. Wasn't a big deal to me.
EDIT: I thought of this in one of my random musings. Another Pokemon that might fit the bill against Steve-o Stone is Golurk. With his ground/ghost pairing, three out of four of Metagross' moves are either not very effective or Golurk is unaffected by them (even in the rematches, Steven doesn't diversify his moveset and put in something like Signal Beam, Earthquake, Power-up Punch or even plain ol' Pursuit) and Golurk, especially using his Iron Fist ability has a good moveset to drop on him (Hammer Arm, Phantom Force, Fly, Shadow Punch, Dig, Earthquake...just name a few of the moves he can learn). More of an offensive option but something to consider. :3
So for my first-run winning teams:
Omega Ruby:
"Remy" Swampert
"Dynamo" Elektross
"Emily" Ninetails
"Grimskull" Dusknoir
"Une" Shifty
"Jonah" Gallade
Alpha Sapphire:
"Talia" Sceptile
"Marian" Gardevior
"Casey" Arcanine
"Heracles" Heracross
"Ferrus Manus" Aggron
"Elektra" Electivire
Only problem I have now on Alpha Sapphire is my moveset post-Delta Episode. Namely with my Gardevior; right now she has Moonblast, Psychic, Future Sight and Magical Leaf...and I want to change my moveset slightly- I have considered Hyper Voice but I also want to balance my team's moves as well. Any suggestions would be helpful here. ^^
I'll have a follow-up post on non-Pokemon stuff laters.

On the Road
Posted 10 years agoOkie, I'll start with a question; against Steven on the first run through the Hoenn league who did you call out against Steven's ace, Metagross? (I will be editing this post as soon as I have some input so I can share my answer).
Speaking of being on the road - I've been going all over the place in my interviews - just yesterday I was up in Tennessee for a company that makes floorboards for cars and the week before I was in Southern Georgia and coming up in about 10 days I'll be flying up to Detriot. Hopefully I will hear back as I've been going through lots of phone interviews and many more job submissions. :P There's a couple of opportunities around Birmingham and Southern Georgia I would really like to hear back from as well as a position in central Arkansas. Hope I can get an offer soon because I already have a personal project I wanna do - in this case my older computer is starting to reach its limits in terms of RAM memory so I'll have to see if I can get all the data saved and then install a 64 bit OS and upgrade its ram to at least 8 GB of RAM and maybe add a SS hard drive to used as its primary boot drive.
Sadly I haven't been doing much on the gunpla side since my time's been taking up with job hunting and all wish I could but thankfully there hasn't been many new models I'm dying to get my hands on other than Denial Gundam and the Early-type Guntank (which is ironically better than the RX-75-4 Guntank from MS Gundam - the darn thing is turreted).
Finally, my folks just recently adopted another standard poodle. Was orignally named Gamma Ray (my folks thought it'd be a name I'd give a dog...but I thought it was because her original owners were rocking too much Hulk) then her next owner named her Llama (but they were strange owners, having a different dog every two years it seems) but my folks named her Penny since her hair is coppery-silver. She's even bigger than Brownie and gives Brownie some of the treatment she gives Gabby. :P That and I found she has Luna's water drinking habits...so they will need a drip towel to catch her.
I suppose that's all for now - I would like to be humored with regards to the question I posed. ^^

And it Ends with a Butt Itch
Posted 10 years ago:P As in the final episode of Gundam Build Fighters Try. Yup, Mr. Ral had to return to his signature butt itch (and someone on Gundam Guy even had to ask what that was about...when even in Gundam Build Fighters I knew what that was about) when Sekai returns form his "training trip." Oh don't worry, he still has his girl problems because apparently Gyanko and Fuuima is jealous he was learning how to build gunpla from Shia Kijima. And how 'bout that Dom and the Leopard Da Vinci? Supposedly the Woundwort also made a cameo in there as well. But boy do I wish the Kamiki Burning Gundam became a model because that's actually pretty nice looking.
And yes...Sekai's and Junyo's master in Jigen Haoh is apparently Domon. :P (But to be honest Denial Gundam is cooler than Try Build Burning).
And a little nostalgia trip with the original MS Gundam - when you see that first time when Fraw was dragging Amuro out of the house made me think of her as Amuro's "Penny" minus the cow tipping aspect. :P Yes it's bad when I see some of Amuro's behavior and impersonate Fraw making her sound like Penny from The Big Bang Theory. Would that make Hayato a Leonard?
Lastly about the last episode of Build Fighters Try - that little scene where Mejin Kawaguchi reads the winner also seems like an April Fool's joke at Sakai's expense. I dunno if that was intentional though but boy does he need to curb his crush (just watch the episode and you'll get what I mean).
I suppose that's all for the moment. :P

While I Was Out
Posted 10 years agoIt seems like we have yet another round of FA drama. Then again, furries seem to have more drama than Llama Llama Red Pajama. I won't comment on it here since I don't really have a concise opinion one way or another unless we get too many fingers pointing around in our art. Besides, I got other fish to fry so this is small potatoes.
Namely, if anyone follows the biggest source of depression outside of certain holidays, the oil prices haven't been good and since my position involves materials used in unconventional oil processing (i.e. shale oil formations) our company was hit hard. Ended up shutting down one of our plants and gutted our technology department (including shutting down our lab in Houston). Because of that I ended up getting laid off - that was a few weeks ago. Thankfully, I was able to argue for a few more weeks of work so I could train a few folks on how to run things in my laboratory and that just ended today. Meanwhile, when I was originally laid off I already started my job hunt. Wonder where I was? Welp, yesterday it was right around 50 F in Atlanta...it was 80 F in Alabama. :P Yup, I already had my first on-site interview and hopefully if they would like to hand me an offer I'd be happy to take it as the industry's processes are very similar to what I have been working with. Plus, said industry is starting to boom since construction is up as well. Have some other interesting leads as well and hopefully they can advance on further.
On the other hand...my model of the MG Strike Rogue Ootori finally arrived. I don't think the kit has had a reprint lately as I hadda get it from a vendor in Japan (via eBay). Just too bad they never made it in HG scale (stupid Bandai, you had a perfect opportunity but you tacked on the Aile Striker on the HGGS model). On the other hand, I did manage to get the Amazing Revs for the Hi Nu Brave (but not the Hi Nu itself - popular model go figure) and yes, someone on a gunpla page already mentioned that someone should do a Latios/Latias scheme for the Revs. :P
And finally...looks like Games Workshop while churning out the End Times for Warhammer Fantasy has been giving 40K way too many Khorneflakes as they have a new Khornate codex (poor Slaanesh - shi doesn't get much appreciation).
Guess that's all for now I suppose - back to the hunt.

Sanderz!
Posted 10 years ago"WHAT!?"
"Where's Druidia, I don't see it!"
In case anyone was wondering while I was quiet the last few days...welp, I hadda move across Georgia for my job. So I'm no longer in Carter Country but in the middle of antebellum country in Georgia now. Not as many things to do within an hour's drive then again - I gotta quarter million dollar toy I'll be stuck with while up here for my job. :P
On the other hand, I"m glad that I have a bigger apartment to settle into. A two-bedroom place. Problem now is that I have a washer and dryer for sale...but that shouldn't be that big of a problem though, but that's just a small downside since I now have a proper living room and bathroom space.
Also finally broke down and got myself Wolfenstein: The New Order at Best Buy since I didn't wanna eat up internet data limits. Problem: the disks only load about 28 GB of game - the rest you have to still download but boy...it's so fun to leave a Kampfhund to lay, only to gut it with a knife and get a commander with a silenced Luger (make that dual-wielding Lugers). :3
In Gundamy news - though old, did anyone see Mirai get that due right in the core figther? XP Looks like we are going to get intense episodes up ahead with the guy from Osaka with Gundam's GaoGaiGar the Tri Zeta and the Gunpla Academy...and Fuuima still getting in better quarrels with Gyanko. :P
I suppose that's all for the moment, getting used to my new surroundings.

Pokebully!
Posted 11 years agoWhat do you get called when you beat Wally's Ralts at Mauville City with...a Gallade! As the title says...Pokebully!
I've pretty much sucked my weekend up with playing Omega Ruby on my 2DS and...I've just derpingly fainited Primal Groudon (not realizing just how strong my Swampert is, especially when EV-trained against "wild" Pokemon) and ready to send Wallace packing with my Nuzleaf (soon to be Shiftry - is Extrasensory his last move for leveling up Nuzleaf?). I won't spoil much but wow...even if you played RSE, you will be in for a surprise (and a horde of Aqua/Magma grunts with Poochyena) and easy Mega Stones. :P Oh, and grinding about 4 hours to get a Dawn Stone and fully EV-training a male Ralts. XP
So far my team is:
Lv 50 Gallade "Jonah" (anyone who knows me knows I have a particular naming scheme for my male Ralts. :p Anyone wanna guess?)
Lv 52 Swampert "Remy"
Lv 41 Growlithe (can't decide between him, my Wonder Traded Charmander or Vulpix)
Lv 45ish Nuzleaf "Une"
Lv 41 Dusclops "Grimskul" (anyone wanna set up a trade to evolve my Dusclops into a Dusknoir?)
Can't quite decide on how to round out the team...I also have an Eevee I got from Wonder Trade and can easily pull from my Pokebank too. :P But as before my FC is:
2981-6917-1373 and my XY Safari is electric type.
As before, am open to trade opportunities and all, just barkbark and lemme know.
And don't worry...I have a Gundamy post soon, just wanna poke in a Pokepost for now cause my Delphox plush says so. :P

Winning (duh) Gundam
Posted 11 years ago:P Yeah yeah, I made a Charlie Sheen pun...but when the girl in Gundam Build Fighters Tri (Try really? Tri makes more sense) pilots a SD styled model called Winning Gundam you can't help it. But yes, in this fall, Sunrise is premiering two Gundam anime in the fall - Gundam Build Fighters Tri and Reconquesta G (Recongista G), done by "Kill Em All" Tomino. I'll watch both of them as time allows but I'm more into watching Tri since the mecha and all in Reconquesta are rather unconventional for Gundam designs (like...the Grimoire resembling Votoms than normal monoeyed grunt suits). On the other hand, I actually like the design of the G-Arcane and I've actually preordered that off HLJ (with the G-Self Atmospheric unit). Also preordered the Z-II and Build Burning Gundam.
Speaking of Gundam...Bandai is making another set of custom parts to go with HG models again. I just wish they'd make them as a purchasable set because I'd bet everyone would order those. I'd personally love to get set B with the Gatling gun (though some think it's from G05, I think it's the Kampfer Amazing's Gatling gun) though A set has the Zaku I's G3 canister launcher and Hizack Custom's beam launcher (dear Bandai...please make an updated Hizack!). The second bunch coming out in August (for Japan at least) has the GINN's missle pods, the modified Gelgoog rifle (for either a GM Sniper or the ReGelg) and a DOM Original Spec's drill lance and Desert Zaku's tomahawk (and a petite mobile suit which looks like the one that comes from Char's Counterattack).
In other news...I missed a chance for a special Vivilion by Mystery Gift that has a new move...but Vivilion isn't that special (unlike the Pokebank Celebi). But geeze...we are getting some crazy Megas coming in Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby...like a Mega Metagross (if it wasn't already a sledgehammer) and a Mega Sceptile (though why...why Grass/Dragon. Just point a Delibird and it will keel over fast). I might consider getting another 2DS so I can actually use real trading to keep my Mega Stones and all. But...where's the event I can get a Diancie with or when will Hoopa become official?
And finally...you better collar those Wolves because Games Workshop is launching the 7th Edition codex for the Space Wolves...with a new flyer(s), Mr. Freeze's gun and a new special character Dreadnought alongside Bjorn. The flyers look meh to me but the new Venerable Dreadnought for the Wolves looks sweet - a Blizzard Shield and big honkin' Frost Axe really makes it unique like the Blood Angel's Furioso Dreadnoughts. But still...all those frost cannons - someone been working with Mr. Freeze lately? XP Though...the flyers' design reminds me of the Caeteus Ram from Forge World - will we be seeing one of those for all the Astartes in official GW form?
I guess that's all for now it seems - enjoy your Dakka, balls and nub marks. :P

Posted 11 years ago*giggles* I'm actually talking about the guilty crushes our OCs have. We all have cute crushes we know that we'd never be able to fulfill, but I think everyone has a cute crush their character (or their fursona) has. C'mon don't be shy, might as well share because of them are quite cute. :3 For instance,
Charlie's crushes: Krystal, Maid Marian (mostly of a motherly crush), Dora the Explorer, Cassie
Cody's Crushes: Sofia the First, Nurse Joy (kinda like Charlies crush on Marian), Jenna from Balto
Scout's Crushes: May (from Pokemon), Arcanine as a female Pokemorph, Emma Sheen
Kayla's Crushes: Shippo, Charlie (isn't it obvious from the alternate storylines?), Satoshi, any Eevee morph, Hunter from Road Rovers
So...let's share the cute crushes your characters have. :P
EDIT: By the way, does anyone know if there's someone who still makes custom, babyfur-friendly pajama pants?

Alpha...Omega...Nightingale...7th Edition?!
Posted 11 years agoLots to gab about hobbies wise so let's go!
First, everyone around here has probably heard that Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby are coming out in November. Everyone get their 3/2DSs ready (thought why Nintendo, can't you get Mega Man Powered Up and Maverick Hunter X? It would help those series so much). It seems that it'll be like Black/White 2 where it's a sequel to Ruby and Sapphire. The only question is will we be stuck with just Hoenn Pokemon or will we see some more (or even more new species)?
To be honest...I wonder how we will get Diancie and Hoopa since so far only Japanese releases. Darn you Japanese companies and your exclusives. >.<
For those who are following the Suizuoka Hobby Show...how is everyone feeling about the big announcements by Bandai? Most of all the new Reborn 1/100th scale models starting with the Nightingale. :3 It's kinda like a HG 1/100th scale...but geeze that Nightingale is as much as the upcoming Hi-Nu Ver Ka (or the Sazabi). After the Nightingale...the Gundam Mk III and the GP04 Gerbera. Not much in the way of HG announcements other than the upcoming Airmaster and the confirmation of the Amazing Exia and Wing Gundam Finice Rescncita.
But how 'bout that Neo Zeong...looks like it has four extra arms...is the Zeonic version of the Dendrobium. Even still I don't think most will shell out $300 for a gargantuan model (for that price...I believe that's three XV105 Riptide Suits, a Throne of Skulls or a squadron of Leman Russ tanks plus Pask to make that Leman Russ Punisher's shots rending).
Speaking of 40K, it seems like it was only yesterday (like late 2012 or 2013) when we had sixth edition of Warhammer 40K. Fifth Edition came out in 2008...and now Games Workshop has announced a Seventh Edition coming out soon. O_O It has a new psychic phase, everyone can summon daemons (heresy!) and new missions. Most of all...you are no longer bound by the FOC for many games (though there's still the FOC which many tournaments will likely use). But still no bloody Orks...usually they are the butt of everyone's jokes (even among their own kind) but it's been two editions since they got a codex it seems. Same goes with the Adepta Soroitas; they both can also use some new miniatures and a good rulebook.
I guess that wraps that all uo for now. ^^

EDIT: It seems that GW is finally making a new Ork codex...so the Meks finally have some new toys to play with (and loot).

Fainting like a Champ
Posted 11 years agoOde to my Druddigon in Black 2 - Drago might not be the fastest dragon in the roost...but boy does his rough skin pay dividends. :3 Biggest example is him taking on Iris in the League - against her Haxxorus no less. He might have fainted but in doing so, he took out her Haxxorus in the process (and why Iris, why did you use Dual Chop when a Dragon Claw would have been more economical). He might not have taken down too many of the Elite Four but his contributions did just nicely. And to finish off Iris...my Elecktross defeated her Lapras with an Iron Tail. :3 As such, my winning team for Black 2:
Trainer: Meyrin
Team
Lv 56 Druddigon "Drago"
Lv 56 Starmie "Lucky"
Lv 57 Emboar "Chinan"
Lv 56 Elecktross "Dynamo"
Lv 62 Excadrill "Digga"
Lv 56 Zoruark (N's from Driftveil)
Not the best matchup I think (three slowpokes and three speedies...makes me wish I had a Blaziken or even an Infernape).
Heck, my Druddigon proved how much of a champ he was by taking down both an Electrivire and Magmortar in Pinwheel Forest after Cheren's Pokemon fainted. On the other hand it still makes me wish this was Kalos and I had at least the Generation VI version of Azumarril with Huge Power and Play Rough.
By the way...if anyone has White 2 who would like to send me the key for Regice, lemme know. :3
As for the pending finale for Gundam Build Fighters...looks like men with revenge in their minds are teaming up, putting poor Tatsuya in the middle with Mashita and the Flana Institute guy corrupting the Amazing Exia into the Dark Matter and using the Embody system on Tatsuya. O_o I also wonder if Nils will be able to overcome Baker's ambush and let Sei and the others know about the Plavsky crystal under the stadium. But last week's episode was pretty funny when Takeshi got dissed by Char as a "spoiled brat" as he was moping about Reina going to the finals to keep Sei and Reiji in order (especially after Reiji invited Alia to stay with them). I also like that the anime acknowledges Gundam Build Fighters Amazing (the side story/prequel in Gundam Ace) as well.
To top it all off...I'm loving Mao's version of the Crossbone Gundam (and if you've seen the gunpla prototypes, the skull hides a bfg inside) and the booster with loads of flintlock pistols and enough goodies for Jack Sparrow's crew. :P On the other hand that Neo-Zeong is plain ridiculous - as pricey as the Dendrobium and the darn Sinanju actually rides inside the hulking armor. Really Full Frontal - you could have made something a little more economical...like upgrading the Sinanju with a funnel option and assault weapons and have more room for Gerea Zulus and other new units.
Not too much going on really - just been a very busy kit.

A very rough week.
Posted 11 years agoI am so glad I made it through the week alive? Why? Last week was a total pain in my butt both work-wise and in my personal life.
The week started off with a nice 48-hour study I did at one of our kilns. Because of how it worked, I kinda worked split shifts where I was covering the actual shift changes and at the same time keeping up with our team's technicians. Needless to say it really messed up my sleep schedule. And to top that all, during the evening part of my first day of work, I found from my folks that my grandpa passed away that morning. Talk about a hit during the evening - but not much time to cry when one has work to do. I had the same spiel the next day with the split shifts. Thankfully it wen't pretty smooth since operations went well.
Wednesday though...ugh! I hadda court appearance since I was pulled over on my way home from work back in January and apparently with out the Georgia system works if your proof of insurance and such doesn't register with their system it will say you have a suspended registration. >.< I tried my best to get the insurance company to help me out since it was technically their fault that they didn't inform the state (not to mention you have to have insurance before you get registration in-state) but they weren't helping. Gotta hefty fine and to my annoyance; no checks...and the nearest place where I could withdraw more than $200 for the fine was 40 miles away in Fort Valley. >.< Even I got the 5 and 4 mixed up and I was still short of case - thankfully the clerk allowed me to pay the balance with my card. (whew!) Put it this way - kinda broke after that. >.< But better than the consequence of losing my license. I know my coworker was angered because it wasn't technically my fault, but to be honest sometimes you have to temper that out with the perspective that if I took it to trial it would cost more time in productivity and such and if the insurance company wouldn't budge on helping me out it wouldn't do any good for me.
After all that fun, I finally had a chance to recover my sleep schedule and have a more normal work day for Thursday and Friday. While I could have taken a 24 hour leave for bereavement for my grandpa, I just don't think I could have made the 900 drive, attend the funeral and then return safely in time for tomorrow. I really wish I could have made it but I have to be realistic about it. I already sent a sympathy gift for my grandma and something for their dog as well.
Thankfully this week will be less annoying (and stressful) in terms of events.

That's not a Croc, mate...
Posted 11 years agoTHAT'S a croc! *shows off the second Sandile I caught that has Moxie* :P I dunno why I have such luck...but I caught a Sandile in Black 2 - perfect for neutering the Nimbasa gym. On top of that...I musta trained my Sewaddle well because after it evolved into Swadloon at level 20...it evolved into a Levanny at level 21. :P Though so far, the core of my is:
"Chinan" Pignite
"Nils" Lucario
"Wattson" Eevee (I plan on evolving it into Jolteon...since you can't get Glaceon or Leafeon until post-game)
I'll likely remove the Lucario in favor of "Mick" the Sandile since I'm not too keen on having two fighting types in my main line up. Playing this after X and Y makes me miss moves like Power-up Punch and Phantom Force (since Power-up punch is a great compliment for Lucario and Phantom Force makes Golurk a monster).
Also...I am kinda curious...if I used Action Replay to get the event Pokemon, will I be able to transfer them via the PokeTeleporter to X/Y? I just think it's a little crazy that Nintendo just won't add them as a DLC instead of events for the games - you can download X and Y to your 2/3DS, why not download the events as a purchasable DLC?
I have also managed to build some gunpla lately. I built my Palace Athene...and a High-Maneuver GINN with a garish green color scheme. :P It's crazy but I love how the GINN turned out.
I also have both versions of the Mercury Rev coming my way (both the Gundam Ace and Dengeki Hobby versions)...I kinda like the arms sets and perhaps the opportunity to make Tatsuya's Nu Gundam Brave (and a second one into a super-heavy assault Nu Gundam). I also manged to stake claim to the GN Arms Type-D (which is my favorite GN Armor and the definitive version of the HG Gundam Dynames).
Not much on plan for this weekend after taking my dog down to Albany for a poodle clip. :P Probably just take it easy this time around.

How did The Sleeves have that up their sleeves?
Posted 11 years agoAs in the hulking Neo-Zeong that has just been revealed for Episode 7 of Gundam Unicorn: "Over the Rainbow." Yeah, if you've seen it compared to other MS (even the original Zeong), that thing is HUGE...even towers over the Alpha Azieru and Psyco Gundam. To top that off...they have already announced a HGUC of the model (to go with the repaired Kshatryia and Banshee Norn destroy mode). Now c'mon Bandai...if you can make that hulking thing...where's my Nueve Ziel or Nightingale?
Also...I think a HGUC Crossbone Gundam is definitely possible as we are getting a HG Build Fighters Crossbone Gundam Kai - no release date yet but I almost think I might be Mao's new gunpla after Sei and Reiji defeated the GX Maoh (in a very, very awesome fight) and it seems many are thinking that, too. Just too bad we know now that Mao's master, Chinan is a pervert like Master Roshi since we've seen him oogle oranges like they are Murre's breasts.
In 40K news...looks like we are getting the Imperial Knights as part of the Apocalypse expansion...no other releases, unfortunatetly besides the Sentinels of Terra codex (which I think these Knights are part of). If I was GW...I should have made the first major 40K release after the Tyrannids a Mechanicus codex and army (which is sadly neglected outside of Forge World's Heresy rule sets).
Beyond that, I have just been very busy with work and all, even got a few weekends in with various projects and responsiblities. On top of that all, the French Inquisition thinks we don't communicate so after their latest meeting that have us in a frenzy to develop detailed communication protocals all over the place - It's useful but it's kinda annoying when it's all in a frenzy. It just doesn't allow for too much time outside of work on the weekdays (one of my coworkers being an exemption because he doesn't go off work even when he's "off" work).
I also apologize for being a bit negligent in my Pokemon stuff since I've been a busy kit. But...I do have every fossil on Y except the version exclusive ones for X and I have some extra of the others (and Aerodactyls seem to be too easy to get in the game). Also, has there been any Ninetails plush of any kind - and speaking of which, is there anyone who can make Pokemorph plushies?
I think that's all I got for now.

Got Fossils?
Posted 11 years agoI do...all except for Lileep and Anorith. :P Was silly easy to get Kabuto and Omanyte and I got a few extra up for trade on Pokemon Y (gotta extra Shieldon, too). ^^ Also, I've been working on breeding Happiny (the dad's a Togetic and the Happiny will have Metromone) and I'll try to get a couple of Munchlax eggs as well for those who didn't catch Snorlax in the storyline. So, I think my top trading needs right now are as follows:
Magby
Lileep
Anorith
All Unova Starters (they are the only starters I still need since I just got the Sinoh starters)
Panphy/Donaphan
Tyrogue
Minccino w/ Technician
I gotta Vulpix with Drought and one with Extrasensory and Hex...but I dunno which one I'll keep though. :P I also have a Phione, Elekid (let me get at least one extra before I trade, please), Paras, Venonat, can breed any non-legendary Dragon, among others (and I can teach Skrelp Sludge Wave). As previously mentioned, anyone who wants to share friend codes, be my guest. ^^
In Gunpla news...I just preordered the MG Astray Noir and the weapons set coming up in March that can allow you to build the Nu Gundam Brave. I also finally settled on a design for my Build Akatsuki, too. Gonna call it the Autarch and like Eldar Autarchs, the use of Striker packs can allow it to use the various "Aspect Shrines" in gunpla battle. :3
Speaking of Gunpla battle...it seems that the PPSE's President is much like Wong Yu Fat...and that the story of Reiji being from another world might just be true (and Nils Neilson might be close to knowing, too, being a ninja). I just wonder how far the PPSE's leader will meddle because he thinks Reiji is going to kick his butt for what I think is stealing the secret of the Plavsky particle from his world.
Finally in 40K News...the Tyrannids have a new codex and Games Workshop is changing their format for magazines - the monthly White Dwarf magazines we know will become Warhammer Visions...White Dwarf will be a weekly magazine with the same kind of stuff we see on their website. I am still on the wall with going with any sort of army thanks to my odd schedule at work (which included some work supporting an emissions certification).
I guess that's about all I have to mention for now.

Wonders of Wonder Trade
Posted 11 years agoA little updated on my Pokemon adventure - I did complete the main story of Y and I did it without a single mega evolution. :3 My team had Greninja, Flareon, Espeon, Magnazone, Dragonite and Golurk.
Wonder trade can be quite fun...and sometimes a blah, too since it takes a while to get something really interesting. Since I started - I gotta Phione, two Larvesta (one German, one Japanese), a Treeko, a Protean Froakie, a Charmander, Totodile, Squirtle, a Gengar (did the person doing the trade know that his Haunter would evolve?), a Spiritomb, a Feebas (anyone want to do some swapsies for evolution?), a Hoothoot with Pokerus, a Houndour, an Aron and even an Omanyte. :3 Meanwhile...while I was Wonder Trading I found a shiny Ducklett and managed to Evolve a German Eevee (an Evoli) into an Umbreon. As I said, it can take a while to get something interesting out of the deal, but hey, persistence pays out quite well.
Speaking of trades - my friend code is 2981-6917-1373 and it seems my Safari Zone is electric type (my word of advice - the Fairy type Friend safari is kind of a bleh since the only really unique one would be a Togepi...and the good one for slot three can get crowded out by Flabebe).
But yeah, I'd be happy to swap friend codes and perhaps set up swapsies (like a Shelmet/Karrablast swap) and such or filling out X/Y exclusives.

Gideon Graves Grounds a Gaw
Posted 11 years agoI wonder if Bandai was aware of the reference when they made Episode 11 of Gundam Build Fighters "Battle Royale" where the German contestant was piloting a Gaw carrier, channeling his inner Garma to get back at Ricardo Fellini for "stealing" his girlfriend. And to back him up - more exes waiting inside the Gaw and one Gengaozoa escorting it. Among said exes are a pair of brothers in a Virsago Chest Break and an Ashtron (not Hermit Crab because it'd have huge atomic scissors). Really a German pilot with a Gaw with six other ex-boyfriends ganging up on Ricardo since he supposedly swiped their girlfriends? I think that's a Scott Pilgrim reference if you ask me.
But yeah, I am really enjoying Gundam Build Fighters so far. Yes its tame compared to most Gundam series but I think it works here. Also for those not used to Gundam - this show also parodies not just Gundam but other Japanese anime aspects as well (like Reiji getting slapped for his iffy comments from a little swimsuit peepshow or Mr. Ral having the same seiyu as Ramba Ral and pilots a Gouf and has the respect of Zeonic cosplyers at a bar). I can't wait to see next week's episode where the heroes take on what looks like a Mega-scale Zaku II and maybe get deeper into the plot.
On the other hand, I did manage to get Pokemon X and Y and a 2DS (I have X on a cartridge and Y downloaded). I will try to get a friend code for you sooner or later but boy...some of those gyms are laughingly easy if you know how to counter them. Like...on Y I just took on Valerie's Fairy gym...can be a pain but when you have a level 35 Steelix, a level 49 Doublade and in the wings a level 40 Blaziken that can Mega-Evolve, and a Seviper quickly training up it's just plain easy (Steelix though is more of a tank than a wrecker if you ask me, even with Super Training - Doublade on the other hand...holy cow, where's my dusk stone). Same goes for the Bug gym - though that's worse because you don't even need a fire-type to beat Viola; just train a Pikachu to level 12 and both her bugs go down since they are both vulnerable to electricity. On X...I haven't gotten as far but I am pretty close to having a Delphox and I have a Sylveon named Yriel. The funny thing though on X...I have an Eevee that's bashful, has Run Away and I am working to train it into an Umbreon...and I named it Saji. :P Same goes for the Furfrou I caught - female bold and it's a poodle; geeze...I shall call it Gabby. XP Though speaking of Furfrou...there's one in Lumiose city that asks for tips to get groomed...and if you don't tip it growls. :P Kinda heart-breaking but geeze makes me think of Gabby more since she's a grump, too.
Anyway, Christmas is coming up and I have a loooong way back up to my folks. Hopefully I can return to Georgia to enjoy the rest of my vacation after a week. I think my dog will get better millage than I will for the visit though. :P
