Life Update: Post-Fight and inaugural trip to Canada
Posted 12 years agoFirst off, my sincerest apologies. This journal was intended to be posted about a month ago after my return bout and to precede my trip to Canada, but hey, life has a funny way of making things work out X3. I know many have inquired about it in person or via Skype, but for those who've been anxiously awaiting the result of my hiatus from the octagon, here it is:
"Ladies and gentleman. This matched has been called to an end with 1:21 left in the third and final round. Declaring your winner via KNOCKOUT: JUAN "THE BOSSHOG" CHAVEZ!!"
For those of you that didn't read the previous journal, I was on about a 6 month hiatus from the octagon, but after rigorous training and negotiations with CFA, I was able to get back into a Heavyweight Title Eliminator match. The bout went to the third round, and both of us were involved in a bit of a war of attrition. He was busted, bruised, bloodied, and all around exhausted. He was a black belt in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for those that are unaware) and I knew he'd be looking to have the match on the ground to force me to submit. Being only a purple belt in BJJ, I knew that he would have more skill and determination to have it his way had I let it go that way. Over the month and a half or so of strength and conditioning training, I attempted to make the bout a striking match. Round one involved the two of us feeling the other out. I tried many new techniques that proved successful, including spinning elbows, backfists, heel kicks, and switched stances. I was able to stifle all but two takedown attempts that didn't go in his favor. He managed to utilize his height and striking as well. I would up with quite the bloodied nose, a few cuts on the head, and after being subjected to a long standing kimura lock, I felt my arm was broken. I was almost certain it was. I went into the third round believing it was. Nevertheless, he wound up being gored (my proclaimed special move) and upon getting up, was forced against the cage and dealt a combination that my coaches and I had worked on for 6 weeks, resulting in his body dropping limp onto the mat, and declaring me the winner. In my post fight speech, I called out the champion, whom is a bitter rival of mine, and asked to challenge a member of his camp for my next bout.
Going into medical, I was quite nervous about my gashes some, but mainly about my arm. Turns out there was some slight nerve damage, but no breaks nor stitches needed. i was given a 14 days medical suspension, 7 days no contact, making me eligible to return to the octagon as early as November 1st. I thought about taking advantage of it, but I really felt it was wise to try and get back to my preferred weight, and with an imminent trip to Canada in the near future, I didn't want to look too beat up when I got there X3. However, talking with CFA, it seems they want to throw me a curveball. My next bout will be against my own teammate/protege, whom is not happy and quite terrified. I feel terrible about it, but business is business, and we're just going to have to but our friendship and camaraderie aside for a night. I look forward to this challenge, as he knows all of my moves/skills/weaknesses entering the bout, as I know his. A battle of wits and evenness. I'm looking to return to the octagon again for this challenge on December 13th.
In more recent news, I enjoyed a brief stint of time in Canada. Though it was a short six days, the time I had there was unimaginable. I was obviously there for one reason, that beings to visit my one and only
Girs. I have a trip planned to go there to spend Christmas and New Year's with him, but with that time being so far away, I couldn't really take the separation anxiety anymore and took advantage of having a week away to see him and be reunited with him and to be in his arms. We didn't do a lot, but the time we had and the places I saw and the people I met were beyond fathomable. It was the first time I had ever been in such a cold climate, let alone seen snow. Yes, I am one of those few people on earth that has never seen snow, but I finally did! It snowed all night one night, and upon waking up the next morning, I certainly appeared like a child on Christmas, jumping out of bed to look and stare in an enthralled manner at the powdery white that covered the sidewalks, rooftops, and cars. My floofs definitely floofed up and my tail was certainly wagging in excitement ^^. I got my opportunity to go outside and actually interact with it...which was only fun for a brief time XD. This hardened, temperate Florida skin was pierced by the wind and the chill and quickly needed to retreat for warmth and snuggles. Obviously,
Girs didn't mind xD. In our downtime, we still were able to catch up on some gaming, a few times with
Shadowpack123, which was also awesome, so thanks for that, Shadow :3. It was difficult to leave come Monday, but the one ray of hope we both have is that I will be back soon enough, December 19th to be specific. As of today, that's exactly 4 weeks away. Rawr :3!! That obviously cannot come soon enough, because aside from the urge of wanting company, affection, and snuggles, he got me addicted to some awesome food, which is going to kill my diet and ability to maintain fight weight XD. Fine by me, I'll just have to work a little harder ^^.
Nevertheless, things have certainly been real, and it's been a tough adjustment snapping back into reality once again. Growing up sucks sometimes, but it gives me time to get bigger, better, and stronger. I look forward to again being back in the octagon, despite the inevitable battle with a teammate/best friend. I look forward to returning north of the border and being with my one and only Pupperoni husky and being with him for Christmas and New Year's. Our one year anniversary is also rapidly approaching, so we get to celebrate that too :3!! Woo! And once 2014 arrives, I look forward to having him return here and we'll be preparing, along with most of ya'll, for FWA!! It's gonna be great!
Anywho, again, to anyone who has inquired or cared to know about my life lately, I greatly appreciate it. It's always nice to know that people still care about others sometimes and to know that I'm still acknowledged and loved by some. So, thank ya'll for that. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this as I know it's a bit delayed and prolonged X3. Finally, thanks you anyone who has taken the time to holler at me and console me at times to keep me distracted or give me optimism in regards to my blatant and severe separation anxiety. Ya'll are awesome. As my last post said, one of my main purposes for my return fight was to fight for this fandom, and I think I did it well. All my fights have a bit of dedication to this fandom. This fandom makes me feel alive a lot of the times, because I'm able to truly feel and be what I want to be. I'm a Tog first and foremost >:3! Hehehe. Until next time folks ^^.

Return to the octagon
Posted 12 years agoWell, after months of anticipation and solid training, it's finally here. A day I've been waiting on for a long while, A day where I am able to return to doing something I love and am actually good at. Tonight, as a co-main event, I'll be returning to the octagon for CFA in a heavyweight title eliminator bout.
I was absolutely nerve-racked on October 10th, knowing that I had my physical that afternoon. Training was incredibly brutal, definitely one of the more intense camps I've even been a part of. I was beyond stressed that I would not pass my physical, and therefore, not be allowed to partake in today's event. Despite a toe injury, a fracture to the left hand, and a deep bone bruise to the right hand, I was cleared to fight, though at my own discretion. Though it's only been 8 days since, my toe feels fine, and both hands have minor soreness. Nothing a little extra wrapping can't handle.
Weigh-ins yesterday were even more nerve-racking. After being sick for the previous months and out of training, I had suffered a good bit of atrophy and gained a great bit of excess weight. Going into training, I knew it would be rather far-fetched that I''d get back to my desired weight of 240 in time. Despite rigorous training and abrupt diet changes, I failed to get there, but I gained so much more: focus, discipline, desire, strength. I wound up weighing in, bear in mind after a day of complete dehydration and practical starvation, at 248, the heaviest I've ever fought at. My opponent weighed in at 251, but he is also nearly a foot taller than myself.
Nevertheless, tonight is the night. I will enter the building at around 8 pm. I will begin warm-ups, getting wrapped up, stretching, focusing. At roughly 10 pm, my music/walk-out song will blare through the arena, my pyro will go off, and I will walk out to the one place where I always feel welcome. This is my first fight in 16 fights where I am listed as the challenger. No matter, my intentions are always the same: to walk out the winner. My trunks already have my hog tail attached!
I greatly appreciate those who have inquired and offered their support for this moment. I've had notes, IM's, e-mails, and even had people walk up and ask. I've never really experienced that sort of curiosity for this gruesome event. I'm used to being looked at like a monster whose out to hurt people, when I'm only out there for sport and utilizing it as a hobby/talent. For those who have my Skype, my protege Blaine takes over it come fight time. He updates my Skype statuses as quickly as he can to make live updates. If you're on my Skype, follow along if you'd like to know results and how things are going the quickest. Otherwise, I'll post another journal in the following days informing ya'll of the results. Again, thank you to those who've offered their interest and support. I thank those of you who've taken the time to read this journal. I hope to make most of ya'll, and the fandom itself, proud.
Juan "The Bosshog" Chavez vs Steven "The Mauler" Clements. 5'7'' 248 lbs vs 6'5'' 251 lbs. Size never matters. Bosshogs never die. Enjoy my walk-out theme with me as I depart! Until next time, folks!

No, not remotely. I'm neither artistic nor creative.
51: Love really is a beautiful thing huh?
It's the thing that can make you the happiest and the saddest person in the world...(I left this answer the same because I couldn't agree more with
ClefWolf52: Do you miss the way things were six months ago?
For the most part, yes. At least I was working six months ago.
53: Ever been on a golf course?
Nope.
54: Do you have trust issues?
Yes. My trust is hard to earn at times, and keeping it is even harder at times.
55: Ever stayed up all night on the phone, with who?
Back in the day, but for about the past year, it's all online with mah husky X3.
56: Do you own something from Hot Topic?
A few lanyards and buttons. That's it.
57: Do you use chap stick?
Very rarely.
58: Have you ever slapped someone in the face?
Yes, but I'm a lot more prone to punch o:
59: Do you have a little sister?
No, just an older brother that acts like one~
60: Have you ever been to New York?
Once.
61: Think of the last person who said I love you, do you think they meant it?
Without a doubt.
62: Have you hugged someone within the last week?
Yep. It's been a couple of days though.
63: What were you doing at midnight last night?
As always, talking to
Girs :3 <3 64: Have you ever regretted kissing someone?
Yeahh.
65: Is there one person in your life that can always make you smile?
Definitely :3!
66: Were your last three kisses from the same person?
As always
67: Have you kissed anyone in the last five days?
No ;-;. It's been about 9 days.
68: Would you rather sleep with someone else or alone?
If I would've been asked this 9 months ago, I would've said alone with no hesitation. Now I cannot stand to be in bed alone <.<
69: Will next Friday be a good one?
In an effort to remain optimistic, I'll go ahead and say yes...
Another Year
Posted 12 years agoWell, another year has passed, and as of today, another birthday is here. The big 23 as I'm told. Nothing really special about that. No new privileges I can utilize x3. Oh well. It's just another day of me partaking in a research group for school and chatting/drinking with my lovely boyfriend
Girs.
Next, I do appreciate those of you that have checked up on me since he had to depart back to Canada. The love and support offered has been moderate, but I know that the love doled out has been incredibly sincere. I haven't coped well this time, but I'm getting there. To those that have question my Facebook posts and/or Skype posts, please know that the vast majority of those are said out of pure emotion, and no common sense whatsoever. Believe it or not, I have my moments. Some of you can vouch for that >//<.
Lastly, for those that have asked or have overheard, I will be returning to the octagon in the next month or so. The intention is to be back in competition on Oct 18, because that weekend will mean a lot to me. I've been back in training for a while and have been taking it slow, but I'll be picking up the pace, as I need to drop almost 20 lbs by that date. I'm not doing it for money. I'm not doing it for glory. I'm doing it because it's the only thing I feel I am truly good at. Talent tends to befuddle me, and though this isn't something I'm completely proud of, I need to utilize it in an effort to be proud of myself.
So, in closing, thank you all in advance for the birthday wishes, whenever they may come. Thank you all for your support, any little bit counts. Finally, thank you for those that show some sort of intrigue into my MMA career. I've been rather flattered at the amount of inquiries I've received, as it's not something that's very popular, let alone in the furry fandom.

Posted 12 years agoWhere are you staying?
At my house that's roughly 10-15 minutes away.
What day are you getting there?
From the first festivities on Thursday until the last Dead Dog party on Sunday
How are you traveling?
Driving
Who are you rooming with?
Well, technically
Girs because we're staying at my house, and he sleeps in the same room with me x3.
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
Hopefully many of the local furs that I see on Tuesdays, but nevertheless, I'm hoping to just meet new/fellow Florida furs.
How is the best way to find you?
Aside from texting me or calling me? I'll be the guy with the custom Tog tail and a baseball cap backwards. Likely a bandanimal of some sort :3.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
I've still yet to thoroughly go through the scheduled events, but I'd like to attend one or two if possible.
What do you look like?
Your stereotypical Mexican, complete with mustache and short stature xD.
Will you be suiting?
Nope, I don't have a suit.
Do you do free art?
I don't do art. I'm way too terrible at it x3.
Do you do trades?
Err..no. I don't have anything to trade D:
Do you do badges?
No.
Do you do commissions?
No.
What is your sex/gender?
Male and male.
How tall are you?
5'7''
Can I talk to you?
Absolutely :3. I'm always down for a good chat.
Can I touch you?
If your paws are clean and you ask first. Unless it's a hug, then you don't need to ask. It's on the house :3!
How can I find you?
Uhmm...call/text me. You'll see me in constant companionship with my husky,
. He's a good 3 or 4 inches taller than me with long hair, a beanie, a black sweater, and a cute butt xD. Wait...don't go by that. Look for the thuggish Mexican who looks like he's about to rob suiters ;3.
Can I visit your room?
Noooo, being as it's at my personal residence.
Can I buy you drinks?
If you'd like to, I suppose you could.
Can I give you stuff?
Depends on what it is.
Are you nice?
I'd like to think so.
How long are you going?
Thursday evening to Sunday night/Monday morning. The entirety of the con basically xD/
Do you have an artist table?
No.
Will you be going to parties?
I'll probably make an appearance at one or three.
Will you be performing?
Nope.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Be like "ayo Fudge!" Or something like....TWO CHAINZ!! GEEEOOORRRRGGGGEEEE!!! BYYYYRRRROOOONNNN!!! If I hear something abrupt, I generally start looking around XD.
Where will you be most of the time during the days?
A little bit of everywhere o,o.
What/where will you be eating?
Yet to be determined.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
If you ask prior, I likely won't mind. I don't really have any animosity towards the fuzzies :3.
Can I take your picture?
If you let me know you're doing so prior, then sure. I'd prefer you'd be in the picture with me though o:.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
To have an awesome time, to meet some new people, to get to know some of the others I hang out with frequently a little better, and to be myself for a solid four days x3

Survival of the fittest
Posted 12 years agoTo begin, this is just a general post. I am in NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM REFERRING TO ANYBODY IN PARTICULAR! I don't play that passive aggressive nonsense, and before any assumptions are made, I'm making it clear and general.
For those of you that know me well enough, you would know that I've been through some intense moments involving physical strength, endurance, and all-around will power. Years of stress, physical trauma, and general activity have taken a toll and have withered me down, but I've always found a way to keep moving and disregard it. This week really taught me that my ability to resist isn't nearly as good or as beneficial as it comes across.
For the first time in years, and about the fourth time in my life, I found myself being rushed to the hospital because of the sheer fact that the pain was so damn intense and that my pride and stubbornness would have to be put aside for myself and those that care for me. I obviously didn't make this a public matter because I know that if I can handle any ordeal, the majority of people I associate myself with can do the same, if not better than I can. It's one thing for people to care for my well-being, but to worry about my well-being is a rather large pet peeve of mine, and I firmly believe that would have happened. However, due to the abundance of communication I have with some, and my use of other social networking sites, this ordeal did slip out.
I want to first let everyone know that if you are finding out about this now that that was my intention. If you feel that you should've known, but you weren't made aware, I apologize. I see many of you on a weekly basis at the Tuesday meet, and I'm close to many of you, but if somebody found out before you did specifically, it WAS NOT because I went out of my way to tell anybody personally.
The bottom line is, after dealing with severe stomach pain, constant nausea/vomiting, severe dehydration, and the consistent loss of consciousness, I broke down and requested I be taken to the ER. I was taken in for many tests/scans, and I was treated for a severe infection of the gastrointestinal tract, almost fatal dehydration, and possible gastroenteritis. It is not known where it began or why it was as intense as it was, but after a two day stay, I was finally released with some intense antibiotics and heavily suggested bed rest. I've taken the advice of my physicians and have been resting up and taking better care of myself and am feeling much better, but very far from 100%. Hopefully I'll be back to that point in about 10 days or so as the antibiotics do their work, but until then, I do intend of trying to remain rested and trying to keep my stress low. So, if I seem a bit lethargic and short of words or patience, I again apologize in advance. I've just got to turn my attention to myself for a bit.
I do hope that nobody finds this news disturbing/dramatic and that, if anything, you rejoice in the fact that I'm putting my hard-headed nature aside to do what I need to do. I know I have the best support system in the world, and some of the greatest friends that will do their best to assist me in this endeavor. I don't thank you all enough for all that ya'll do for me, even if it's something as minute as a simple "hello" or "how are you." Hell, even if you're taking time out of your busy day to read this, I'm beyond flattered. So, thank you all for all that you do. Always remember to keep on moving and to keep on grinding. Low points will come, but that's life. Handle them patiently, but diligently. Things like this always find a way to fall into their own place, and it assists us in forming the characters that we present to ourselves and others. We all have our scars/flaws, but the scars/flaws you bear are the signs of a true competitor. Thank you for your time, and if you're one of my fellow Orlando furs, I hope to see you this Tuesday, and the many more that are to come ^^ *Hugs tightly before strolling out*

Even the sun sets in paradise....
Posted 12 years agoSo after a month of fun and games, that inevitable day returns to haunt me once again. Sadly, my boyfriend must return to his home without his companion Tog ;-;. I'm not one that says "goodbye" or "farewell," but one who says "see you later" or "until next time," but next time cannot come soon enough. It had been roughly three months since our last encounter, and it seems it will be another three months or so until our next encounter. This household is much too quiet. This bed is much too empty. This Tog is much too lonely. I always try to brace myself for his imminent departures, but they never get any easier. Some believe I have attachment issues while I thoroughly believe my love runs damn deep. I may be down now, but soon enough, I'll be back at it and better than ever. However, the fact remains...my arms and bed remain Husky-less =/. Awrawrr...
