Bro, fuck customs + Emergency commissions

I'm doing better, life is getting back to it's normal rhythm and we have been doing little updates to the house whenever we can. I moved back to my office and it does help with my productivity some more. I am slowly working through my queue and updating as many people as I can.
Our current main issue is that me and my wife are still dealing with a massive backlog of commissions so we are uncomfortable asking for more work. Mom is earning enough money for us to survive well enough so we are not in danger, just low on funds.
But then we ran into a problem :]
So back in Argentina, my wife had a good heart to heart with their mom. It was really sweet and I am so proud of both of them for communicating!! So Chaim's mom asked if they missed anything from Australia so she could send a care package. They asked for some snacks, some of their favorite curry powder since we ran out of it a bit ago and some ginger beer.
Oh boy.
Long story short, their mom used a very expensive shipping company that has been doing jack shit, Chilean customs have been incredibly unhelpful and the resident DHL that's dealing with our package country side is just not updating us on anything even though we changed emails and corrected numbers several times by now.
And then after I already paid a customs fee they asked for, they show up unannounced to my doorstep charging us 100USD ish for the package. A package that's barely 25USD ish worth on a supermarket. So I turned it down and tried to reach out for a reevaluation of the cost.
Two weeks later nothing has happened even though I reached out many times and we are worried the package will be destroyed soon oTL
Even though I really didn't want to come up to this, Iam opening some more commissions so I can try to save this thing. Chaim's mom has been super sweet lately and even hand wrote some recipes for them and its low key the thing I wanna save the most of this mess.

It felt surreal to be back for the first whole week, plus getting anything done seemed impossible just because how exhausted we both were. Our dog Ori has been glued to our side since we arrived and he's needier than ever, Elune has more distance between us but she is warming up to us again slowly. There is a lot to fix in the house now that its getting warmer and we no longer have a roommate in here as well.

I am aiming to finish the fastest ones first if only to lower the number into something less intimidating first. Customs was so scary because both time we went thought it no one seemed to know Australians no longer needed visa for entry. Me and my wife were sweating while showing the email we got and the official page to prove it. It almost didn't cut it on the frontier but eventually they got confirmation and let us pass. Speaking of customs, the Chilean one was fancier and bigger than the Argentinian one but god this one took 3+ hours to pass.
Hopefully we won't have to do this whole thing ever again, we're starting the actual family reunification process by the start of next week now that we have all the documents translated and shit.
I'm gonna take a day or two off to get my sleep schedule back on track and then I'll go back to commission work! I can't thank you guys enough for all the support, really ; v;

New Airbnb, Nightmare scenario unlocked
General | Posted 2 months agoSo we are still stuck. We are running out of funds and we had to switch Airbnb for the first time since this whole thing started because someone finally beat us to the punch on reserving the place again.
The new place is a bit bigger and it has a hot tub (the one thing I've yearned for years) and it was around the same price as the last one so what could go wrong, right?

No amenities, practically no dishware, we have a kitchen but no way to turn it on. We don't have a washing machine despite us asking for one as the first thing.
Chaim and I have barely eaten anything today, doordash only accepts cash for some reason right now so we can't even get a cheap meal there while we figure out what to do.
Morale is at a minimum right now man.
I hate begging, but here's my sfw Kofi of anyone can spare anything. I'll open emergency commissions again in a bit and see if I can gather some more funds

Another Visa Run Update (Not a lot tbh)

Chaim and I are going stir crazy and homesick as hell waiting. We miss our creatures so much (Our daughter Elune and our silly ass son Orion. Plus mom's two other cats). Our roommate had to leave the country by themself and we both feel soo bad about it man. We wanted to give them a goodbye hug at the very least before getting them to the airport, this shit sucks oTL
Despite all, we are okay rn. Our Airbnb is very cheap but has a decent kitchen and a washing machine, plus is a new listing so we can hog it as much as we need without problem. The host is very kind and understanding as well. Food is incredibly cheap here too so we are eating well and cooking ourselves as much as we can to save in cost (I do recommend getting either a Milanesa or an asado if you ever come visiting tho)
We are also trying to go on walks often to keep active and to not fall into despair too much (Though we still do sometimes). We have a massive park practically next door so we are touching as much nature as my allergy prone nose can handle.
We're both very lucky and grateful that we have a lot of friends, acquaintances and clients who are willing to lend us money or buy commissions from us in advance till we get this shit sorted out, otherwise we would be on the streets rn. It's really scary if I dwell too much into it..
I just feel like an absolute imbecile because I didn't bring a drawing tablet with me.. I am gonna try to use my wife's Ipad to see if I can get used to it enough to make some dent into my workload, I'll keep you guys posted.

The visa people haven't reach out to us and it's not enough time for it to get processed before Chilean holidays kick in. So we have no other option than extend our stay and minimize expenses. Thankfully our Airbnb is cheap and newish so we can stay here longer without that much of a problem

Wife and I have been hard at work on getting their visa going, but sadly these things take longer than we'd like </3 We will need to do a visa run to Argentina to refresh their visa (It's clean and legal were we live, thankfully). While everything is paid for and we will leave soon, I am a bit uncomfortable with how much we'd have left after it so I opened two YCH! This time I just got some slots per each and it will be on my shaded sketch type of art.
I am still open for normal commissions, but I will be able to work on everything again once we are back next week.

I had a rough month, sadly </3 I got a twisted ankle and some other stressful stuff happening at home so I couldn't really open commissions last month with the load I had on me.
Thankfully things are calming down a bit, I managed to catch up with most of my work and my feet healed enough it almost doesn't hurt by now (only does on some weird angles tbh) so I will open some slots in a couple of days :]!

Back from honeymoon!

I'm back from honeymoon in Australia! We had a lot of fun and good food, and managed to do all the paperwork needed for them to move with me back in my country for a good chunk of time!
My partner and I have been settling down back home for a week and we are still battling a looot of jetlag, but nonetheless very happy xD

Hi y'all I hope you are doing alright! :]
Or as best as possible with, y'know, everything going on in the world.
Personally I've been resting and recovering from a nasty and persistent burnout the last couple of years. While fighting that still, I've done some light freelance for a shirt company and the occasionally art commission while working odd jobs irl and figuring what I wanna do with my life ngl.
I found love thanks to hyper fixation with a game franchise (thank you splatoon!!!) that's been one of the biggest highlights of these past years :]
I'm also getting lil married (Actually a civil union but shhh) to my partner very soon so I'm very excited and nervous about it!!
So! What's the other part of the tittle you ask? Well I feel rested enough and I wanna come back to making commissions here! I am unsure if I am going to be able to go full working on big pieces with complicated background and the old shading I used to do just yet, but I am open to work on color and lineart again!
I'm gonna be uploading some old art I never posted online and then I will make a post with the commission info shortly after.
