That is way too damn many.

I'm not gonna waste anyone's time talking about how I wish I could get rid of some, but I can't delete them, I don't want to put them up for adoption to just any old schmoe, and my urges will just create new ones while the old ones stagnate like a bowl of uneaten fruit. I've also had some negative experiences trying to communicate more. I used to reply "Thank you" to people who left nice comments, and someone said "Is that all you ever say?!". I would also leave comments on other artists' works, and I was either answered with silence or people calling me a "furvert". So yeah. If that's the treatment I'm gonna get for being nice, then fuck it.

It truly is better to remain silent and give the impression you're an idiot than to speak and remove all doubt.

It's December already! Gadzooks! Time for some monthly ramblings and such.

It's warranted a lot of confusion and plenty of cries of "what the fuck am I looking at?" from friends and even loved ones, which does disappoint me, but that's what happens when you choose to pay homage to such an obscure source.

Short story: It's based on the back art of the "Triage X" Blu Ray. The girl Kelsey is mimicking wears a monster arm and mask.

What is "Triage X"? Well, there are animes that are undisputed classics and will be talked about for years to come: your "Cowboy Bebop", your "Trigun", your "Outlaw Star", etc. Then there are animes that are unusual but worth talking about, like "Ben-To", "Cat Planet Cuties", "Those Who Hunt Elves", and so forth. Then there are the animes no one will ever talk about because they are too ashamed to admit they've seen them. And that's where "Triage X" falls under.

Go ahead and check it out if you're really that curious.

Moving on...

You'll notice I haven't opened commissions for the month. I'm thinking about how to make this work come 2022, like opening 20 slots for each three month period. Hopefully this way I can satisfy all those people who've wanted commission me while also not taking on too great a workload, which will help keep me sane and happy. And you wouldn't want me insane and unhappy, now would you?

Hey folks.

For the less informed of you, DeviantArt has been on a downward slope. Format changes, interface bugs, and now poor optimization resulting in an "Aw Snap!" error because it's a glutton for RAM. It's getting to the point where I am seriously considering leaving that site for good and focusing purely on FurAffinity.

One week to go in October, so I feel like talking about a few things.

First, Commissions. I managed to get seven of the ten done, which for me is something of a personal best. Thanks to you and eBay, I should be financially sound by the end of the month. Will I open slots for November? I'm not entirely sure. We will see when my credit card statement is paid off.

Hey, everyone! Happy October! Good God; where has 2021 gone already?! ><

Any way, here's wishing you all a good month ahead, and just a friendly reminder, someone's birthday is on November 1st. SPOILERS: It's me!

I can no longer hold my tongue on this. DeviantArt's submission organizational system sucks!

I've been trying to create a gallery that represents my "best" works. Sounds easy, right? Should be. Except there's no "Arrange from Newest to Oldest" or vice versa option when editing gallery submissions. This means I have to click and drag EVERY SINGLE FUCKING PICTURE until everything is in chronological order (you know; like it SHOULD be!), or worse yet work BACKWARDS when adding submissions to the gallery. But some spunkchump thought 24 should be the maximum limit of pictures added to a gallery at one time. So if you have over a thousand pictures (like me!), you have to spend minutes scrolling down to the bottom of the "All" gallery.

And even when it's all arranged nicely like you want it, the Quadratic Equation explodes, and the gallery presents the submissions in a completely random pattern! So all that work for nothing, basically. And I do not have the patience to sift through and rearrange them again. All because there's no "Newest to Oldest" button!

As for scrapping, forget it. There's no bulk scrap submission option. So if you want to add a lot of pictures to the Scrap folder, like I did with the Raze reference sheets, you have to edit the picture and select "Put in Scraps" for EVERY SINGLE FUCKING PICTURE! Interface 101: the fewer clicks, the better!

I'm sorry, but when Fur Affinity of all sites can do things better than you, rethink your life!

Do you smoke?

I don't. Personally, I think it's a disgusting habit, and I don't understand why people still do given that I have never heard anything GOOD about smoking cigarettes. And as I jokingly say about "Cowboy Bebop", the interior of the Bebop must smell awful given how much those characters smoke on a regular basis.

Now, I'm not here to preach. What you do to your lungs is your business. I'm just curious.

The Story Thus Far...

Hellfire is a planet split between two races - the Giants (or macros) and the Tinies (or normal-sized people). The Giants live prosperously in the Macro Sectors hidden away by the mountain ranges. They have amazing technology, machines that can compress their sizes, replace lost limbs, and more importantly terraform the desert planet into a lush furtive paradise. Meanwhile, the Tinies are forced to survive in the desert wastes with whatever resources the planet can give them, most of them unaware of the Eden the Giants have created for themselves.

Naturally, this divide causes discontent. Clans of bandits and outlaws have formed dedicated to steal the tech from the Giants, the most ruthless of which being the Dogs of War.

As for the Giants, they are broken up into classifications based on their sizes. The smallest ones, 10-20 feet tall, like Renee Kyohoshi, work as scouts. The middle class, ranging from 20-60 feet in height, are laborers who operate the machines and farming equipment. The Monarchs, or King and Queen Giants, are by far the biggest, looming over a hundred feet tall, and serve as governors over their race. Although they are referred to as "King" and "Queen", the titles are purely honorary, and there is no royal lineage or hierarchy.

Mega and Gargantua are two such Queens and lead two opposing factions amid the Giants. Gargantua says the Tinies are a plague on Hellfire, and the Giants should dominate (even exterminate) the inferior race. Mega, on the other hand, believes that Giants and Tinies should and can coexist peacefully, and the Giants should share their knowledge, tech, and wealth for the greater good of the planet. To do so, she has sent ambassadors out to mingle among the normal-sized citizens of Hellfire, ambassadors such as Renee Kyohoshi who travels with blazer Ace Kenshader.

One day though, Queen Raynera Valentine (a new incoming OC) disappears from the Macro sectors. Mega is forced to send a laborer out into the wastes to find her. Who does she send? Laborer and Raynera's best friend and lover Rakura Jericho (O.O). Equipped with a compression unit and aided by morally ambiguous arms dealer Shadian (a friend's OC), Rakura must venture forth to find Raynera and discover the reasons for her disappearance.

While wandering, Rakura builds a reputation as the blazer "El Diablo Morado", encounters some new friendly faces, even more unfriendly faces, and every now and then catches up with the elusive Raynera, who has taken the identity Rain Valentine. What is her goal? To find and wake the Leviathan, a legendary monster that is said to be able to bring peace and harmony to the planet once and for all!

...Phew. Now you know why I must never be allowed to write screenplays. XD

- I believe things should have a purpose. Yes, Rakura having a fake arm looks cool, but does it serve any purpose? I'm beginning to doubt so. I mean, it makes sense when it's revealed the reasons behind Vash's left arm (SPOILER: Knives shot it off), but how and why did Rakura lose his right arm? What function does it serve? It can't just be because the "mismatched sleeve length duster coat and gloved arm" look looks cool. Jake bears the same thing, but it has been written why he bears it and how it came to be. So Rakura, why is his arm gone? I don't know, and I don't know if I should keep it.

- The more the merrier, they say. Unfortunately, too many chefs ruin the broth too. I like having my options for OC's, whether they be mine or friends', but already, again, I'm questioning some characters' purposes.

The whole "War between Giants and Tinies" is a cool concept and one I fully endorse and can expand upon. That means Mega and Gargantua have a role to fill, and it's opened up all sorts of possibilities concerning characters' pasts that I won't spoil right now. But if that's the case, where and how do the Dogs of War fit into this? You see, I know how to make "RAZE" focus on the Giants, and I know how to make it focus on the various bandit clans. Making the two merge has been awkward and kinda confusing.

Then again, while it would be easy to ditch the Dogs, that means Jake and Reese Nightingale's story and purpose are thrown for a loop. And I like JC and his efforts too much to discard all we've created thus far.

- And where in God's name do Allison and Chun-Li still fit into the greater picture? And what of the SQ4K-8X ("Squawk Box") robots? The more the merrier, yes; but on the same token, KISS - Keep It Simple, Skunky.

...Is it any wonder I've been having trouble sleeping at night? ><

I've been talking cat breeds as they pertain to my OC's recently. I should state upfront that I am really not that familiar with the various breeds of domestic cats like I am with dogs. I know Persian, Siamese, Calico, and Manx, but that's about it.

So what breed are the VeCats? Unofficially, they are Maine Coons. Why? Because I've seen pictures of Maine Coons, and they are long-haired fluffy things. That pretty much sums up Daryl and Neve to a tee - long-haired and fluffy. If you can name me a better breed for the sisters, then by all means do so. Chances are I won't argue.

Now, let's talk about that big fat black cat who's cropped up a couple times now. I love her design, but I'm on the fence about making her a fully-fleshed OC right now. It's not like I HAVE to, right? I can repeat her design without giving her a name and story, can't I? ... But yeah; that's where I stand right now with her.

Oh, and it's been decided she's a Turkish Angora.

Yeeeeeaaaahhh... Remember my other side project, "Wanna Be the Fattest in the World"? The series focusing on female blimp wrestlers? Well, I haven't been doing much with that lately. A couple of people suggest I do something with it. I know what I wanna do with it - throw it in a bin and set it on fire. No! Bad Chris! Be CONstructive, not DEstructive!

But yeah. It's there. Not really doing much. Not easy coming up with cool things for super obese wrestling women to do on a regular basis. Any constructive suggestions would be appreciated. Can't destroy it; the urge to reboot would be too great.

Again, it's there. I know it's there. It will be there. Just needs a little shot in the arm, that's all.

WARNING: There is no rhyme or reason to the following Journal. I'm just jotting down notes as they pertain to the story of "Raze" as they come to my head.

- Hellfire is a shithole of a planet rich in minerals. Why are they there? How did they come there? Why don't they leave? I don't really know. Some say a colony ship crashed millennia ago. Some say that same crash wiped out the life on the planet creating what we know as "Hellfire". Even more say the terraforming program still resides in the remains of the ship's computers. Maybe, just maybe, the planet can be restored to its former glory.

- There are three types of people on Hellfire. The law-abiding citizens who just want to carry on from day to day. The "Bandits" (or Outlaws, Rogues, Pirates, etc.) who seek to disturb the every day way of life for one purpose or another. Then there are "Blazers", or bounty hunters, those seek to fight injustice and maintain and restore order to the lawlessness sweeping the land.

- Rakura Jericho is the planet's most notorious blazer, "El Diablo Morado" or "the Purple Devil". Funny thing is, no one has ever seen him take a life.

- Raquel Hayabusa was once a part of the clan "the Blue Bolt" led by Tara.

- Roberta Ginsu was once leader of her own clan, "the Green Masque", but they were wiped out by the Dogs of War, the most feared and ruthless bandit tribe on Hellfire. She was the sole survivor and is now hellbent on revenge.

- What is the Dogs of War's agenda? Cause havoc. Claim the planet for their own. What else is there for a baddie to do?

- Marshal Callista wants to bring in Rakura for several reasons. Professionally, she considers him more of a harm than good for the people of Hellfire. Personally, he gets on her nerves.

- Queen Gargantua claims that Giants should rule Hellfire and dominate the "tinies". Queen Mega insists that the Giants and "tinies" should coexist peacefully. Renee Kyohoshi was sent as an ambassador with blazer Ace Kenshader and stars in her eyes. She has since been finding the world too small for her, figuratively and literally.

- Allison Winters and Chun-Li Summers work for the Libra Justice Agency, who also have deemed Rakura a hazard to the people of Hellfire.

- Amy Winters, Allison's little sister, owns and runs the Cozy Moe, the finest motel, diner, and rest stop on the planet.

- Jake Callaghan was a former Dog of War left for dead after a botched mission. He was rescued and repaired by local nurse Reese Nightingale. He now seeks to atone for his past crimes while seeking revenge on Canis, the Dog leader who betrayed him.

I was going to go around asking my friends what they would rather see from me - fat females or cool guys. Unfortunately, I think I know the answer, and it's the correct one - whatever makes ME happy.

Sometimes, most days actually, I want to draw a big sexy woman. Then there are days I feel like drawing a cool dude like Rakura.

So yeah. I know which vote is the popular one, but at the end of the day, it's what I want to see that makes me happy. And to be honest, what makes me happy seems to be what my friends want to see from me too.

What is RAZE?

RAZE is a sandbox. It is set on the fictitious desert wasteland world of Hellfire, and it follows the (mis)adventures of a "blazer" named Rakura Jericho and a motley crew of fellow blazers and outlaws he meets along the way.

It is an outlet for me and other fellow artists who wish to make old or new original characters in a post-apocalypse sci-fantasy western setting in the veins of Trigun, Mad Max, Borderlands, etc.

It is a light-hearted romp. Do people get hurt in this canon? All the time, but death is kept to a minimum (if any at all).

Will it ever be a fully-fleshed comic/animated series some day? That would be nice, and I can certainly dream. For now though, it is a canon separate from the regular Chris and Company stuff, and one I enjoy visiting from time to time.

So what is RAZE?

Today's topic: Fan Art

First, I get asked if I accept fan art from other artists. The answer is plainly, "YES, FUCK, YES, FUCK, FUCK, YES, FUCK!". I cannot stress this enough. If you feel the urge to leave make me a little gift, then by all means do so!

Second though, the issue of me doing fan art. I will be the first to admit that I don't fulfill my quota of fan art for other users (excluding Leviamicky). It doesn't mean that I do not appreciate your ongoing support and whatnot, and I certainly do not want to feel like I am taking advantage of you by not rewarding you on a regular basis.
