The Trouble with Me...is Me
General | Posted 5 years agoI'd love to play you a Hank Marvin song right here, but unfortunately it's not entirely true. As humans, blame is better to give than receive. And while I may point my finger at those viewers who pressure me into doing things I later regret, I do see those other three fingers pointing back at ME, the one who lets himself be pressured into doing these things.
Sorry if the last Journal sounded like I was blaming you yet again. That wasn't my intention. No, these problems are all self-inflicted. I have no backbone. I lack the power to stand up for myself, and I crack under the tiniest bit of peer pressure.
I don't know what's going to happen with Krystal and Reese, but it will be my decision ultimately.
As for some clamor that arose about having a permanent bunny OC, let me just say that I do hear you, and I do see the advantages of such. However, I want to learn from my mistakes. If I'm going to have my own bunny OC, then I want to do it correctly. I want to look at Daryl, what made her work, and see if I can learn from her creation, progression, development, etc.
Peace and love...or Love and peace, if quoting a certain anime.

Krystal, Reese, and Adoptions in General
General | Posted 5 years agoSo, Krystal is the latest OC to fall by the wayside. If you don't know who she was, I don't really blame you, and it only serves to illustrate my point.
Now, I have given away OC's and even put them up for adoption in the past. Only problem; I have not seen most of the adopters do anything with my OC's since I bestowed them into their possession. In my opinion, that's just as bad as me letting them rot; the only difference is that I got paid for letting them decay in another's hands.
So, yeah, getting back to Krystal. I could put her up for adoption, but history has shown me that whoever wins her will have no clue what to do with her either.
If I may be candid, the same goes for Reese. She may have grown on me during the months, but in the end, part of me wishes I never created her. You do realize she was a fan creation from the start, right? You wanted a fat VeCat, you wanted her with a ponytail, and sure enough I gave you a fat VeCat with a ponytail. I'd phase her out too, but unfortunately she is a VeCat, and she has settled as Daryl and Neve's middle sister. I can't kill her, nor can I put her up for adoption, because my inbox would be flooded with death threats. But at the end of the day, I was happy with just me, Kelsey, Daryl, Neve, and even Micky. And of course, me being me, I had to go and fuck up a good thing, didn't I?
That's where I stand right now. I have nothing more poignant or thoughtful to add to conclude this Journal, so I will just say that breasts remain the best. Booty's a close second though.

Birthday and Big Bunnies
General | Posted 5 years agoItem One:
It'za my birthday! Where're me prezzies?
Item Two:
I have been thinking about setting up some permanent sumo bunny OC's so I don't have to make random bunnies every time I need to satisfy my fat bunny sweet tooth. I even have names and a title for this "project". I've weighed the pros and cons of doing so, and yet I am extremely hesitant of going through with this.
Why? Because chances are it'll be yet another "one or two pic" project and then I'll utterly lose interest after a few weeks like so many before it. But I will admit, it would be fun to have some permanent fat bunnies on the roster.
So that's what I'm thinking about at the moment. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a bacon and egg sandwich to enjoy.
Happy birthday to me!

Some Sad News...sorta
General | Posted 5 years agoI, um, lost my penchant for drawing the big big fat fat stuff.
(,,,That's it, Chris? No essay explaining why this is so or who's to blame?)
...No?
(Oh. Carry on!)
Any way, advice, if any?

Thank You
General | Posted 5 years agoI know I don't engage with you as much as a I probably should. But I do appreciate the good people who frequent my galleries, the good people who watch me, the good people who fav my stuff, and the good people who leave feedback.
I don't show my appreciation enough. Without your support, I am nothing. With all the new watchers, favs, and comments each day, I don't take time to personally thank each and every one of you for doing so.
So, I'd like to take a second and just say this:
Thank you. =)
You may continue what you were doing.
P.S. My birthday is November 1. You have been warned.

RAZE - Writing Advice?
General | Posted 5 years agoIt occurred to me that, as a rule of thumb, when I'm lighthearted, fun, and silly, I succeed at what I do. On the same hand, when I attempt to be dark, serious, and edgy, I generally fall flat on my face. This is why Chris T. Snuggleskunk is a huge success, while CJShadorunner came and went.
"San Gato Shores" I can see being a success because it is me being silly and stupid at the expense of the Baywatch archetypes - i.e. two-dimensional characters with three-dimensional bodies.
"RAZE", on the other hand, worries me. This is my magnum opus, my "Trigun", and like "Trigun", I currently plan on having it cover all the colors of the tonal spectrum. Granted, I don't want to go to extremes, but I would like to balance the lighthearted comedy with dramatic moments, if that makes sense.
If any of you have any advice on how I can pull this off, that'd be greatly appreciated. How do you achieve that fine balance between lighthearted comedy, deep drama, and intense action? Or is the answer staring me right in the face - go full out goofy and dump the "drama" I currently have planned?
As for "San Gato Shores", I would love to see more of this fleshed out too. In these cold months, I still need an outlet for sexy swimsuit babes with giant hooters. Any advice for this would be appreciated too.
See you 'round!

Wild Life
General | Posted 5 years agoHave you seen the teasers for this new cartoon called "Wild Life" coming to SyFy on their new TZGZ lineup (whatever the fuck that is)? ... Looks awful, doesn't it? Animation's horrendous, character design is butt ugly, and, even though I haven't actually listened to it yet, I'm willing to bet it's not funny in the slightest. And I can safely make that assumption because that's par for shows of this type on late night cartoon blocks of this type.
So many questions unanswered. Who gave this the greenlight? Who is this aimed at? Do they really expect this shit to set the world on fire and compete with the hundreds of quality shows that have been cranked out?
It just saddens me to know we've sacrificed our standards in the pursuit of a quick buck. I'm not saying something like "RAZE" would be a hundred times better but...well...actually that's exactly what I'm saying! I've come up with so much better stuff than this, but if "Wild Life" is really the best we can do, it's no wonder all the animation companies I applied to turned me down. They are afraid that I am going to take over, raise the bar, and they're going to have to actually work again.
Okay, delusion of grandeur, I admit. But when I think the producers of "Wild Life", "Teen Titans GO!", "Thundercats Roar!" and other shit shows were given studio backing to fart out their cartoon excrement, while PIXAR turned me down...it cheeses me.

RAZE and Stuff part III
General | Posted 5 years agoOkay. All plans for
RAZEandStuff are currently put on hold for the time being. Upon reflection, it seems silly having multiple accounts for the same type of content, especially when one of the accounts was intended to escape that particular content (i.e. big fat furs ><).
No joke. Uploading the past project works that have led to "RAZE", I am encountering a slew of big fat furs. So why the heck did I set up this account if I'm just posting more of the same stuff I don't want this new stuff to be associated with? >< I am ridiculous!
Good news though, I do have Dropbox. And once this Journal is posted, I will go through and set up folders for the projects' art, so again, if there's something you want, I can email it to you.
So, I'm going to continue with "RAZE" on this site...as well as the big fat furs, so don't worry on either front. The way I see it, if you came for the big fat furs, you can tolerate me posting the "RAZE" stuff and vice versa.
Join me for the ride.

RAZE and Stuff part II
General | Posted 5 years agoSo, my secondary account,
RAZEandStuff is still under construction, and I like to think it's being received quite nicely.
But of course, nothing comes easy, does it? I have to make things more complicated than they have to be, don't I?
For you see, I'm okay uploading all the past projects on this second account, but what happens to "RAZE" here on ChrisandCompany? In a perfect world, I'd remove the offending pictures on this site and let them take residence on the new site. And after all, a picture of River incinerating a lackey is a stark contrast to a comic of Krystal sniffing out pizza, isn't it?
But...I love the "RAZE" stuff!
Seriously, these have been some of my best and favorite works, and...*sigh* I know. Grow a pair, right? I wish it were that easy most times. Trust me; half of my problems would be wiped out if I hurried up and showed some testicular fortitude. ><
I guess I don't want the right folks to miss out. Sounds silly, doesn't it? But these are the sort of things that stop me halfway through making a life-changing decision.
So yeah. That's what on my mind right now. What's been eating you lately?

RAZE and Stuff
General | Posted 5 years agoOkay, a couple of you are noticing a new user by the name of
RAZEandStuff posting my old works.
It IS me. It is not an art thief. I have no way of proving this, of course, so just take my word for it.
This is an experiment. I was hoping that setting up a secondary account for my "projects" would relieve some frustrations. But if new nightmares like identity crises are going to occur, then I might as well pack it in and continue doing what I've been doing on this one account.

General | Posted 5 years agoThe female body is a work of art, that's why I've dedicated so much artwork to it.
But then again, the female body is like a cruise ship - beautiful on the surface, a whole lotta crap going on behind the scenes.
Sorry, that was the best I got. There is a lesson here: don't post a Journal first thing before breakfast just because you need to update the darn thing.
I should stop now before I say something irreparably stupid.
Boobies.

1970 Yugoslavia looked exactly like WWII-ravaged France.

The Australian Outback looks exactly like the post-apocalypse.
...Lord of the Rings
New Zealand looks exactly like Middle Earth.
I just thought I'd share this. =P

My Regular 'Anti-Expansion Artist' Rant
General | Posted 5 years agoFor a guy who doesn't want to be known for his expansion stuff, I sure have been drawing a lot of it recently, haven't I? =P
Well, I have kinks, and I would gladly sit back and watch my favorite artists draw the stuff that fulfills these inner desires. But most of the time, THEY DON'T! >< So, you know what they say, "if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself", y'know?
So yeah, while I'd love to be known for "Razin' Hellfire" or "Super Zeroes", I've come to accept that most will come to me for the big 'uns.
Speaking of "Razin' Hellfire", the CONTEST will be ending soon...ish! Reminder https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/9579479
Better get a move on if'n you wanna win!

CONTEST! 'Calamity on Hellfire'
General | Posted 5 years agoAlright, folks! It's finally here! I hope you're ready and hyped. =)
The CONTEST! - "Calamity on Hellfire"
The THEME:
GUN-PAC may be focusing on Chris' adventures on Hellfire, but what about our favorite bounty hunting feline trio, the Calamity Cats (that's Daryl, Reese, and Neve VeCat, for the lesser informed)? What adventures have they gotten into, what led them up to this point, and what do they do after Chris' story has ended? You decide!
The RULES:
- Illustrations and Short Stories accepted.
- Entries MUST feature the Calamity Cats in some way. Other OC's may be included, but Daryl, Reese, and/or Neve should be the highlight(s).
- No mature works. Keep it at most PG-rated.
- No inappropriate content (like scat. I can't believe I have to say this, but there are weirdos out there.).
- Entries MUST be YOUR work. Do not attempt to pass someone else's art as your own. If you do, your submission will be rejected.
The PRIZES:
One winner in each field (illustration and short story) will be decided by me. Winners will receive a free illustration of their design.
TO ENTER:
Send me a link with your completed work, and it will be saved to my Favorites Folder.
The DATES:
Contest Opens upon posting of this Journal. Contest closes September 1, 2020 at 12:00 PM Arizona time.
FINAL NOTE - The "No Death" Clause
This is more of a rule for me, but for the purpose of this contest, GUN-PAC's "No Death" policy will be lifted for the contest. However, I do hope you do not abuse this leniency. Do not post a work of Chris slaughtering bandits willy-nilly, etc.
Any further questions? Come ask me. I will try to give you an answer.
Ready? Begin!

Blazers of Hellfire - Contest Prelims
General | Posted 5 years agoIt looks as though my proposed contest for this "Trigun/Borderlands/Mad Max" inspired project of mine is going to proceed. I don't know the dates just yet; probably mid-August or start of September, and I will give you all a month to write/draw your entries, because I do know writing can take a while, and we are not all art machines like me. =P How long is a decent written work? However long it needs to be to tell your story, is my rule, but I am looking for SHORT stories here, not novellas.
Before we begin, I really should explain the rules of "Blazers of Hellfire" itself and try to give you an idea of what the story/setting/characters are all about.
Hellfire
A desert wasteland, most notorious of the "borderworlds" on the edge of the galaxy. Rich in minerals, hence why so many mining companies have taken interest in this desolate rock. Temperatures past 100 degrees Fahrenheit most days, and can drop to freezing at night.
"Blazers"
Wherever there are colonies, there is "frontier justice". Where such "justice" is found, there are bandits. And where there are bandits, there are those who stand up against them. A "Blazer" is the name given by the populace to these heroes - people who live dangerous often short lives and are burned forever in the memories of the lives they touch (thank you, Leviamicky).
"El Diablo Verde"
Chris T. Snuggleskunk is a "blazer" on the run from everyone and everything in existence. A pacifist, coward and army deserter who chose to hide away on Hellfire, the skunk is constantly finding himself at the center of all catastrophes in any given town. Danger and destruction have a habit of following the poor guy wherever he goes. Although he carries a gun and is proficient in its use, he would rather not use it to kill anyone. In fact, there has never been any documented evidence that he has ever taken a life.
"Mad Maxine"
Daryl Vecat came to Hellfire to christen her new mining plant, but an attack from a bandit clan turned her world upside-down. Bearing a "gun-arm" as a reminder of this incident, she became a mercenary, vowing to put an end to the injustice on Hellfire. Like Chris, there are no confirmations that she has killed anyone in her pursuit.
"The Banzai Bride"
Chris' lover, Kelsey Sienna was left alone at the altar on their wedding day. Armed with all manners of weaponry, she now scours the planet looking for Chris, with the intent of killing the twerp. Although their paths have crossed, she has still failed to murder the green dork.
Neve and Reese
Hearing that their sister Daryl did not come home from Hellfire, Neve and Reese left the comforts of Felnova to find and retrieve her. Although Reese is adept at hand-to-hand combat and Neve's technical prowess can get them out of many a jam, they are still very much fish out of water on this hostile world.
"The Dogs of War"
The top bandit clan of Hellfire, under the commander of disgraced war veteran Canis. Betrayed by their superior officer, General Graystar, Canis took his battalion to Hellfire, swelling the ranks with other outcasts and misfits with the goal of revenge. When they hear of legends of a giant monster sleeping under Leviatown, this could be just the instrument of destruction they need...
The Leviathan
A galactic sea monster that settled on Hellfire many thousands of years ago when the planet had oceans. Falling asleep for over a thousand years, sand, dust, and rock formed over her titanic body until the settlement of Leviatown was built on top of her. Recently, earthquakes caused by the monster stirring from her slumber have driven the populace out of Leviatown, but the Leviathan still remains, just waiting to be awoken...
So, that's all I can think of for now. Hopefully this sheds some light on the project, and hopefully this gets your creative juices flowing. Again, I will be offering prizes for both best Short Story AND Illustration.
See you then!

August and a Proposal
General | Posted 5 years agoWe survived another July! Are we going crazy with quarantine yet? XD
But onto the meat of this Journal - a contest. Now I haven't figured out the rules just yet; this is more of a "testing the waters" announcement to see what kind of reaction I get.
Anyhoo, I was thinking of a "GUN-PAC/Mad Maxine" themed contest. Artwork and written fiction would be accepted. I would offer a free drawing prize for the best in both fields.
Is this something you could sink your teeth into? I realize I've still got a lot of work to do fleshing out both canons, but I'd like to know where you stand upon hearing this news.
Leave a shout, and I will see you around!

Confuzzled
General | Posted 5 years ago"Mad Maxine" vs. "GUN-PAC".
One is already there, but needs polishing. The other shows promise, but needs a lot of work.
My head tells me one thing. My heart says another. And my best friend says something different entirely. And no doubt some goodhearted folks here will offer completely different tidbits of advice too.
I'm all bug-a-boo right now. UnU
I should draw something utterly off-topic to take my mind off these things, shouldn't I?

Ricky Nelson
General | Posted 5 years ago"You can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself."
Sometimes I don't want to please everybody.
Sometimes I just want to please my friends.
But even that can be hard some days. =/

(Ricky Nelson is the guy who sang "Garden Party" in which the above quote is taken, by the way.)

Featured Submissions
General | Posted 5 years agoThis is such a non-issue, I don't know why I bother bringing it up. (Well, actually I do know why. It's because I need to push a certain Journal entry off the main page, but still...)
You ever have trouble deciding what you want to showcase as your "Featured Submission"? What is it you want the spotlight to fall on? What you want visitors to first see when they visit your gallery? What you want the world to know, "This is me, and here is a sample of me at my best!"?
Well...I sure do. Right now, the spotlight is on Kelsey's giant boobs, and I kinda like it that way. But there are so many other candidates lately that could carry this torch too. Daryl and her giant boobs. Me stuck between Daryl and Kelsey's giant boobs. Or I could forgo the giant boobs and showcase a "serious" artsy piece like "Blade Snuggler" or one of many "Mad Maxine" pics. Such is the conundrum when you're proud of the quality of art you've been making in recent months.
Not looking for a solution; just throwing this out there. Letting you know how my mind works and what it's thinking of these days. And I think we all know what my mind is thinking of as of late, don't we?
That's right.
Giant boobs. XD
