Ruffer than old boots edition
Posted a day agoNot feeling too brilliant today so will just watch B P today I think, eat and rest until bedtime but Pheonix is here for when I do feel a bit better, up to reading and me scouts subs have been sorted too which is good news as well move more toward that classic "Fall" thing which is like supercolourful although I did pick up a vintage music and entertainment magazine today while I was out which was pretty cool cos I like people like Buddy Holly, enjoyed actors like James Dean and that whole array of early teen culture be it books, films or music.
I was never very keen on the bryl hair thing as it just seemed to feel like wearing chip fat on me bonce like but a lot did and some still do which is fine I guess while I did have leather jackets at one time which went well with shades.
Anyway here's this weeks blog:

September is here
Posted 4 days agoOh golly wotsits I forgot all about righting me me journal last week with having a few things on me mind so I suppose I have to stand in the corner and write out lines but anyway I did see the all new Blue Peter and it was pretty good although I think Henry is better behaved than Hacker T Dogg to be hones.
He gets so carried away with himself!
Of course a fair bit of that is all how television itself is change - how, where and on what you watch it - and that different even from how it was around 2000 never mind the really old days of space hoppers and black and white televisions that whistled loudly when the grown ups would say they can't hear to shut you up but really their hearing was a bit pants as they'd lost their high frequencies unlike us.
Any way its Haribo Time so my voice will go up several octaves!!!

Achy exits
Posted 2 weeks agoMe knee is playing up again which is no use for going up trees or long walks having dragged it across town today getting a railway magazine among other things and waiting for a record to come that I had been looking forward to for a bit between playing a box set of Cello music by Beethoven cos I thought he was cool plus me comics are here.
It was actually warm out today than expected but I had me coat with me as it had rained overnight here.
Today's blog looks at something that was reissued a week ago:

Bank Hol August 2025 edition
Posted 3 weeks agoI was doing alright as thought having had several miagraines across the week, done a qick Ban Holidayend sort out of comics, bits of stuff I don't quite get around to checking and putting away, the way things often can, especially if you haven't been too good as my let knee hurts rather a lot and actually I'm struggling to get about the house.
Not good.
More good is it looks like I'll be seeing the replacement for cartridge I keep about playing some older discs as after a while gettin new needles gets harder especially when you do want the manufacturers own and me replacement Kim Wilde (I'm wild - Roar!) debut album came and after a quick paw clean was just fine. Always liked that album, so full of youthful energy.
No chance of a transplant!
So really I've hd to take things slow and reflect more which is what de blog this week is about

Rough day
Posted 4 weeks agoOkay it's Friday but as much as I'd of posted something earlier, feeling very off, ill even at 5 this morning rather put a stop to that as much as I was taking in the new BBC Match of the Day format and presenters as we resume the men's game from the Premiership downwards after last weekends curtain raiser, the Charity Shield that Liverpool lost on penalties.
VAR remains and now their looking at other forms of moderated electric add ons to the original rule book that takes away the beauty, the spontanious nature of the game .
Today is VJ Day - marked here knowing families involved, those who investigated the many wrong doings - anc the freedom we enjoy from what they gave for it.

Round up in August
Posted a month agoDelayed from Friday as wasn't feeling too good we were looking back at the week as a few new things arrived, the latest Extra to the current New Yearbooks, a few new socks as some were getting holy (lol) and a new book that I did read between the lucazade sips looking at life in band I loved as a kid which proved to be a great interesting read and the odd record.
Then there was the usual comics and V.J Day themed editions of Commando, the war story magazine I like and football is back too.

Back from Hols edition
Posted a month agoWell then, we came back from the lakes but that doesn't mean other things don't get set up to run during your absence they do like at our Forum which was pretty busy and required a messaging sending to deal with an issue so it was a good job I had me chromebook with me not that I bothered much with that as the whole point is getting away, not just having a normal week in a guest house up to your neck in computer based stuff.
That's boring!
I did take a few comics with me like I always did when I were officially younger in case of rain and that as it gets wet up there at times, wetter than Manchester even, and did you know The Beano was 87 years old. That' older than me, lol!
That's what this weeks blog touches on:

Ending July
Posted a month agoOkay so it is warmer today than earlier on the week where not for the first time I had people noticing me shorts and saying it's a bit chilly and don't you feel it which to be honest I don't, I mean I feel the heat more than cold to be honest.
I've been listening to a couple of my earliest cds this week and a newer one I never got around to getting probably I was more into Mudcrutch and Tom Petty back in the mid 2010's apart from the delightful Rumer because outside of Taylor Swift most chart music didn't do anything for me.
Back catalogues interest me more when it comes to new discs of silver and vinyl sorts either new, often extended versions or things I heard on radio and that that held my attention like a Dan Fogelberg album from 1974 where much of what I heard of his records were more late 70's and 80's and this reissue is more singer-songwriter country rock that I did like (and still do).
Anyway I should be away for a bit.

Hot ol' Friday
Posted 2 months agoGosh it's so so hot today I'm struggling to really think that straight so I'm really going to cut to the chase and just say this weeks blog looks at what I've been up to across the last seven days outside of watching a few old clips of Blue Peter on youtube that caught my interest.

Starting the month concluding
Posted 2 months agoWell it WAS cooler but not as cool as initially forecast was I was out this morning which was a relief but I didn't feel terribley good so I needed to take me tablets and rest a bit.
Really I have been looking at various things I had started over the years, certainly one was before I had me Fur Affinity account and look at to what extent I had completed what I had started and if I wanted to round them off and really that's more what i've been doing as I don't always finish things before moving on to the next.
That's really what this weeks blog is more about:

Achy end of moth thoughts
Posted 2 months agoOkay its the afternoon but anytime is betterer than no time at all given I was a bit busy today and my back is actually aching quite a bit presently, a sure sign I've had me bones in all the wrong places however it might felt at the time as it soon catches up with me a hour or so afterwards,
When I was yonger I had physical therapy that was supposed to help with some of this but one of things is there's next to no continuity in care from you're a child tot the point legally at any rate you come under adult services almost as if everything gets wiped rather than being passported over.
That sort of thing around disability annoys me and what this weeks blog touches on:

Err back
Posted 3 months agoWell sorry about that but last weeks post didn't happen as there was a lot of very rapidly changing things going on across the day and into Saturday by which point I'd utterly forgotten about posting until a few minutes ago and like -huh like where is that post?
Sometimes it goes like that although at the minute I'm rather suffering from the 29 degrees heat having been out this morning although I did manage to listen to a few of my records the other day and yes I have my Summer comic annuals which all helps between bottles of pop to keep me hydriated as I get dry easy.
Things I've seen ablout has been a brownish squirrel dashing about and not a few butterflies beyong buzzing insects.

June is here and I'm tired
Posted 3 months agoRough day I'm afraid so that's why we're a bit late today but at least the objectives of the day as it evolved were met better than anticipated, even helping a harasses staff member in one store just left to get on with putting out a by the till special product and chatting away with another.
That's what you miss with this online shopping thing, it's quick can come in a day or so but there's little real interaction which is why if I need to email a store, I try to put something in for the staff member to show understanding and appreciation.
Today's blog looks a bit more about a Summer Special and what went wrong with it

End of May
Posted 3 months agoWe have changed month but I did forget to post the link to the offending blog last week with some crazy stuff going on around thursday and early Friday although at the weekend I did get around to playing a couple of new records and a cd which was fun apart from marking Issue 700 of The Phoenix comic coming out although apparently there was an issue zero, not that I ever had it ten odd years ago.
Anyway now for more milk...

Unpicked
Posted 3 months agoIt's Friday, it's a bit cooler than last week thank goodness so we're set for some Blue Peter and vintage TOTP tonight so that's also pretty kewl too.
Also this week I did get a few things like at last stereo version of the first Buddy Holly and the Crickets album cos there only two in his short lifetime from the days me mates and I played the heck out of the 20 Golden Greats lp cos while by the point we liked a lot of the New wave actually many of them were influenced by people like him who sang more about teenage life rather than reworking classical compositions and spending six lp sides to saving the whale!
While I think conservation is great, that sort of thing is just...boring.
This album uses A.I. and a skilled human to create the most realistic stereo I've ever heard from what were single channel mono recordings and they even managed to remove the square Picks backing vocals that really weren't needed.
Just enjoy a knickerbocker glory and enjoy!
Todays blog covers a bit of that: https://thatuniformedschoolboytoo.b.....d-weekend.html

It was meant to be friday's but...
Posted 4 months agoOkay I got flatined, out of spoons, call it whatcha will with all that heat last week sapping energy to the point I was just sleeping on the couch for a half an hour more, getting up to get a drink or go the loo and dozing back off agin for a while with the radio on in the background so like that's why this is here today.
Today is cooler though, fresher too having just been up the path, encountering a recovering bee as some of them were flagging too but fortunately not any of those nasty Asian Hornets that seem to be on the march wreakin havic in the hives.
Yesterday's Blue Peter, oddly enough live, was all around sport as in tennis, basketball, swimming which I did rather enjoy although I wasn't really into competative swimming taking part in competitions and -getting one in the net - football with tips on improving your game.
This weekend we have the FA cups, mens today, womens super league tomorrow.

Back to Normal Friday
Posted 4 months agoFriday, we're fully back at FA with a new Pope quick than the Anglican church has found its near replacement and I've a bag of winegums to munch through this weekend which here has both the unvailing of the statue to Lemmy Kilminster a key member of both Hawkwind who gaves us Silver Machine and Motorhead who had many heavy metal hits plus Port Vale F.C. celebrate their promotion up the league unlike neighbours Stoke City.
So it's all happening this weekend but I'll be playing a few of my old Depeche Mode albums.
The week included having to do things old school as if it was still the 80's and 90's and that's what the blog is talking this week.

Fur Affinity blog link updates
Posted 4 months agoBecause of the issues with this site over the last few weeks the usual journal and blog link didn't get published with everything being very much up in the air and off line even for a period so as I'm on the tablets today I'll post over the links since April 20 here plus I was out on the 25th.
Records? Not more records you're sneaking in are you?
Well there are a few although one sadly was a reject with loud scratches but with this rather hot period I've been downstairs with the windows open playing cds or putting the radio one with plenty of milk to keep cool by.
I had a great time playing on Friday with me transport lining up all in row like ducks for once with a few folk which is like kewl as I don't get to go many places as their doesn't appear to be LB meets that say last a couple or days or longer. No idea if girl things are the same - they'd NEVER have me!
This weeks Pheonix comic came with it drawing tutorials not that I'll be producing masterpieces with my dyspraxia an that and of course we've VE Day 80 Years to celebrate next week which is super as we helped other countries get their freedom back.

Eastery edition
Posted 5 months agoOkay so we're late but but but my paws do hurts from moving stuff around yesterdays and then putting it all back again in something like the right order but there's no storytime this eek so I can catch up a bit as I attack me Creme Choco Egg todays and listen to a special weekend chart rundown of 200 favourite songs.
It's nice to just sit down and just enjoy somebody elses selection for what they might like and perhaps for those you may of forgotten about in the passing years so you don't tend to play yourself much at all.
I was watching last week and this a fascinating series of programmes on Five looking at the Seventies and was surprised to out do de panelists in a seventies quiz!!! Worrying what?

Posted 5 months agoOkay midday here on a day of stupid stuff happening in the world not least with world buying and selling and really I'm more interested in things like the Part Two of that Now 80's 1984 set of twelve inch mixes we had earlier in the year and a record that came yesterday with a substancial discount never mind me comics as that's far and away more enjoyable than grown ups acting badly.
Then there's a bit spring cleaning of me stereo - had it for a good number of years - ready for the Easter Bunny to call with his cards and that at the end of next week.

April is here
Posted 5 months agoHere we go and we did get back after a fashion although it certainly was worth it with great weather and much fun being had which is really what matters the most.
We did have potentially an akward moment on the forum where one new member appeared to suggest something about our little group that just wasn't true but it appeared he was playing "devils advocate" but at least nobody gets told off for interacting with others that they were not warned over.
This week also saw the announcement of the Next Now Yearbook for the end if this month - 1989 - and really having the original Now and Hits cds there is nothing that's not covered and possibly less missed out due to modern day licensing issues with bands and record labels so I can't see myself getting it .
For those who don't have those, it makes more sense having everything just being that years hits.
This weeks blog looks at organizing stuff.

Random shuffle
Posted 6 months agoPost has just been only one comic today but I did get a record yesterday with a credit as the sealed bit was unsealed but the record hadn't been played or anything, probably take to something like the Bristol Hifi Show where hifi sellers and specialist delers put a bit of a show on and returned unsold.
Given that I'd missed totally the issuing of that disc for some reason although I got all others by the same artist in series, it's a welcome bonus and more to the point it did sound really good so at some point I ought to finish off a list and review I did at one place about them but anyway it were worth the wait.
Sky is a bit quiet too as Heathrow airport is shut due to some fire related incident or other but there's no sign of other airports being pressed into use more so I expect the disruption to run on for a good few days or more as all the aeroplanes are in the wrong places.
I forgot about making a post, possibly with having a bad head last week so sorry but here is this weeks blog post:

Flat Friday
Posted 6 months agoWell it passed, now for the downward emotions on a day that didn't really it was but at least it happened although five years ago we got away with by the skin of the preverbial teeth missing that now defining announcement thta ground everything to a halt.
That's the funny thing with once yearly things, they kind of remind you of past events, people like the local Avon seller that passed away Wednesday after a long period of illness that called at your door and things you had back then as my brother kept going on about Gary Numan and his Beserker album whose tour he saw and this deluxe cd box set he's issuing.
Never really into him personally although I've met Gary a few times.
Preferred Talk Talk and Japan meself.

End of Month entry
Posted 6 months agoIt's Friday, well we were tired last week although I was back and I was away the Friday before on the train that spoke Welsh and so this week were are fully back even if a lack of springiness in the legs made getting up a one, two, three, lift job getting out of bed before getting dressed this morning.
If you're away for a day or so there's always stuff to attend to like post, your comics and these days social media posts and messages so with all of that done I got on to writing about something I think is relevent to us that was inspired by that time away.
