My boyfriend has all the tools he needs to start a contracting business, but needs a license to do so. Can anybody help him pay for the exam so he can legally use the skills he already has?
I've never done this before, but compared to a lot of gofundme things, this one includes a sustainable business plan so -- if this works -- he won't need help any more and will be in a position to provide help going forward.

Lapdragonverse content has stalled for want of inspiration. There were hopeful signs of progress, though. And I pivoted to stories like Liminality (my pokemon fanfiction inspired by actual animal research - the Eli Lily dolphin project, and the Kellogg chimpanzee project) and was having a lot of fun with that.
But all my tools were macOS, and I'm currently adapting to doing work on other platforms, and especially being unable to pick up wherever I was doing whatever -- I've mostly done very little work at my desk. Until now. Well... okay, no, that hasn't changed. But until I start banging out some work on this keyboard I made (Tex Yoda 2, Cherry Clears) then I won't be making much headway on that, or on the ongoing Lapdragonverse story which inspires the art.
New laptop soon, I hope. New job soon, too, with some luck... Since skiving off something else is usually when I do my best thinking, planning, writing, and (really!) the drawing too -- they come together in my head before I put them on paper, for the most part.

Carpal Tunnel
General | Posted 7 years agoNot the reason I've been starved for creativity lately, but the first signs of carpal tunnel in my left arm are being kept in check with Advil, alive, tramadol, and Tylenol.
Slightly starved for inspiration, but this is a Big Damn Problem™. Going to try to draw left handed and write with text-to-speech in the immediate future. Wish me luck.

Both are things I called, but I'm definitely proud that Angela Ahrendts ended up deciding to redesign Apple stores along the same design philosophy I picked for the Bodyshoppe. I'm confident that if they had big-box-mart levels of room to work with in malls, they'd be doing essentially what I'd do in the circumstance - adding both seclusion and exhibition and food (Ikea wants to open standalone restaurants - "We’ve always called the meatballs ‘the best sofa-seller,'" according to Gerd Diewald - "Because it’s hard to do business with hungry customers.") They're adding computer classes - up to and including "how to write Swift code" - and personal coaches, which are analogous to some of the stuff I've suggested - though they've yet to try to position themselves as an advocate or venue for community organizing, which … I expect to happen by the end of the first Trump term, at this rate.

Yes, that could involve making a sperm cell from an XX donor cell, but since gametes are haploid, it's the same as any naturally-occuring X-containing sperm, half of which are X and half of which are Y, even in nature.

Yup - you read that right, ovaries, not eggs. They had them surgically removed - a quick and cheap surgery - and frozen until they met someone they wanted to start a family with. Once they made that call, they had them thawed, and re-implanted. Not only that, the ovaries will also reverse their menopause. It sounds like they each had one ovary frozen, so...
Inquiring minds want to know - will saving an ovary for later become a routine procedure? It's … actually really cheap compared to conventional fertility treatments.

Today in my newsfeed, I discovered this little gem.
So far we have penises (tested in rabbits), testicles (developed for the US army), and now ovaries. Progress continues on exowomb technologies, though no recent headlines spring to mind. Human embryos have been engineered with CRISPR, but not brought to term. Dogs, however, have, and that experiment appears to be successful. (Thanks to Chinese flakiness on IP law and bioethics, they’ve pushed their experiments forward quickly and are doing quite well. Ironically, a British bioethics board recently came to the same conclusions the Chinese did - just slower.)
